Sorry but if your guild is 5 man, thats a group not a guild, there does have to be some restriction. we cant have every small guild dropping events endlessly.

Oh I’m sorry, I thought our guild was a real guild since we have a bank and an emblem and everything. Thanks for clarifying that a real guild is made up of 5+x people!

The biggest concern I have is small PVE guilds remaining competitive as it pertains to recruitment and retention.

By placing the first mission at Rank 5 in Art of War, a tier dedicated to WvW in the past (and thus, something many small PVE guilds may have ignored completely up to this point), you are ensuring that smaller guilds who dont have deep wells of influence will not have access to these missions for some time to come – while huge guilds do right away (and will thus become more enticing recruitment-wise).

I understand the need to partition the content and make it something guilds – even small guilds – have to work for. It just seems that the requirements for the initial mission – specifically rank 5 in Art of War – may end up hurting small PVE guilds considerably right off the bat.

Art of War level 5 huh? Well that means if my small guild started working toward it now…. we can join in on all the awesome fun in maybe 2 or 3 months.

It takes you 2-3 months to earn 78g…as an entire guild?

Sure… why not… I’ve never bothered to tax the members of my guild… I don’t know what they earn beyond our dungeon runs… although if you had bothered to read the entire thread you would have seen that we had to start over as a guild because leadership quit the game. And it was just recently… and we haven’t managed to get much else upgraded since then… although our original guild was well decked out.

You also aren’t including the 16 consecutive days of build time that 0-5 in AoW requires… and that is if we aren’t upgrading much else…. and remember to activate each of the upgrades directly after one another.

Do you know why people don’t like raids? It’s because they don’t want to work a second job when they come home and boot up their entertainment.

You might also like playing in a large guild where you are nothing more than a number… we like playing among people we have vetted to be competent in content and able to avoid acting like a complete moron in guild chat. Why invite people that we don’t like? That means a guild where everyone freely interacts with each other, understands their talents, and works together tends to stay fairly small for all the right reasons. A 500 man guild is nothing more than a pug hub with its own chat channel.

You miss the point entirely… it is not that we cannot get the upgrades eventually… it is that the guild content (especially the first tier content) should not be prohibitively gated for accessibility to mega guilds and old established guilds only. It makes it harder to start and maintain a new guild when all the content designed to create guild loyalty and cohesion is only easily accessible to guilds that are already established with a large active player base. They don’t need the extra perks as much… they already have some of it through their ability to maintain guild buffs. The ones that need this content (again, especially the first tier guild content) the most are the smaller guilds that earn less influence and need more avenues for creating guild cohesion to avoid bleeding good players to mega guilds that already have all the content unlocked.

As I see it,this does benefit larger guilds with banked influence.

I have a small guild and for our size we earn influence pretty fast but because there is a limit to what we can do we have to be very careful on how we spend it.
We spend it on upgrades that are actually useful to us- hint-not Art of War lvl 5.

Initially my concern was that we are to small to complete missions but now I can’t see us even kicking off an event- it seems to me that smaller guilds are being strongly encouraged to merge with bigger Guilds and misses the point of why smaller guilds are so popular with players.

It is fine to ad content that can be enjoyed by large co-ordintated groups and I will even say that it is needed and will make many players happy.
What I would like to see is similar content for small guilds.

Not all small Guilds want to grow, that does not mean we don’t like fun stuff to do together.
If Anet wants to build the community they should supply the tools to do so- to the whole community.

The guild I am in has everything researched, so consider me unbiased.

I do not think it was a wise move to gate the first batch of missions so strongly. The first batch should have required Level 1 of something, the second batch of missions require Level 2 of something, and so on.

That way Guild Missions are seamlessly integrated into the current upgrade system and not tacked onto the end.

Edit: It actually baffles me that the current AoW Level 5 restriction made it past the initial round-table discussion. Not only does this hurt small guilds, but it prevents new and future guilds from enjoying the fruits of your labor for quite some time.

Edit 2: I totally forgot that AoW is a PvP upgrade tier until I read further posts. Why is PvE-centric content gated by a PvP tier? Again, baffling.

I hate Undead Orr.

But I would love to see a “living Orr” – It seems like it would be a beautiful zone. It’d be the backwards"pre-searing" of GW2! LOL Well, kind of. Not really, but yeah.

Even if they don’t change the actual zone, I would love to see a pre-destroyed Orr Fractal.

Yesterday I played GW2 with my girlfriend and we found out that there are no /hug /kiss /tickle /love /flirt etc emotes. I know this might sound dumb as we got real life to do such things…but it is a minor thing that could mean a lot and make a couple feel more connected while playing the game.

Both me and my girl agreed that it would be nice to add more of emotes, especially the ones I mentioned above.

List of Broken Events

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Anonymous The Spy.2491

Anonymous The Spy.2491

I have noticed an increasing amount of broken or hanging events that cannot be completed and will not reset for various different issues.
The problem with the current set-up is that if an event cannot succeed or fail, due to a bug, there is no global reset to restart the event. Hypothetically every event could eventually encounter a bug that makes them impossible to complete.
I suggest adding a global reset for events, for instance, that resets an event when no one interacts with the event in the last 2 hours.

I have reported all these issues with the in-game bug report but I thought a list would be appropriate. Please add/update to this list as you see fit.
Below is an incomplete list of the ones I have noticed so far:

Escort the quaggan emissary to the kodan camp
Snowden Drifts – Valslake
World: Aurora Glade
First noticed: Mid December – Still Unresolved
: The Quaggan tries to swim under a rock arch but proceeds to swim, literally, into the rock and cannot continue further. Attempts to ‘bait’ the Quaggan out by attacking nearby enemies result in the Quaggan coming to aide in attack but proceeding back into the rock afterwards.

Kill the Separatists before they destroy the Iron Barracuda
Plains of Ashford – Ascalon Basin
World: Aurora Glade
First Noticed: Early January – Still Unresolved
: Current progress is stuck on 28% Saboteurs Killed. Although Separatists will spawn and move towards the Iron Barracuda submarine, they will not attack it. Nor will killing the Separatists increase the progress bar.

Disguise yourself as a Flame Legion soldier and attack the Separatist Camp
Diessa Plateau – Oldgate Clearing
World: Aurora Glade
First Noticed: Early January – Still Unresolved
: Current progress is stuck on Separatists killed: 10/10 and Emblems planted: 0/5. Although there is a nearby NPC to the North of the event that can disguise you, they do not tell you how to acquire or plant Emblems. Nor is there any direction on how or where to place Emblems.

Save the merchants from the Bloody Buccaneer kidnappers
Bloodtide Coast – Portage Hills to Vindar’s Lagoon
World: Aurora Glade
First Noticed: Early January – Still Unresolved
: Current progress stuck on Merchants Remaining: 3 and Merchants rescued: 1/11. Essentially the Event has already failed. The 3 remaining Merchants do not spawn.

Stop Camera Movement After Death

What I’d like to see:

If the character dies, the camera starts to move on its own after a few seconds.

If the player takes control of the camera, that spin stops. Entirely. Player can readjust the camera once and then not touch it again, and the camera will not try to restart the spinning randomness.

That’s it. I don’t see a need for a game option here. If the player doesn’t mind the spinning camera, they can do nothing once their character is defeated. If the player doesn’t like the spinning camera, they can readjust it quickly and turn it off (until the next time they’re defeated, but that’s nowhere near as annoying as current implementation).

Sounds solid. I personally don’t want it to keep spinning after I’ve adjusted the camera either.

Color blind gamer: Issues seeing red circles

in Suggestions

Posted by: TimeBomb.3427

TimeBomb.3427

Hi. I’d like to have a discussion in regards to the issue of red circles, the ones made on the ground by enemies right before an AoE hits, and the issues that I, and surely others, have due to being color blind.

If I recall correctly, I’m red/green color blind. I haven’t done a ton of dungeons, though usually when I do them, I played ranged. As a ranged player, I often have less enemy’s closely surrounding me, which allowed me to more easily see/notice the red circles on the ground. When I play melee anything, it often becomes quite a bit more difficult for me to see/notice the red circles.
Also note that it’s slightly easier for me to see the red circles on the ground if the ground is light, and it is very difficult for me to see the red circles on the ground if the ground is dark.

I consider myself a good player overall. I am quite competent when it comes to any kind of combat in GW2. I’ve done well in general PvE of course, as well as SPvP and some dungeons. Often the harder it is for me to see the red circles on the ground (and the more necessary it is to see them, i.e. with certain bosses), the worse I do.

I opened this thread for two reasons. To see if any other color blind gamers out there are ever having similar issues, and to discuss what possible solutions we can apply to this problem.

My goal here isn’t to make it easier for everyone to see the red circles as to lower the necessary skill level, my goal is to allow color blind gamers such as myself to be on par with non-color blind gamers.
Offering alternative colors could be a solution, or perhaps just a gray color. Making the circles brighter would probably help as well.

Make sure to press the +1 button on the right of this post if you agree. If you can’t see the upvote button, you can just go to https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Color-blind-gamer-Issues-seeing-red-circles/768500/upvote to +1 it. Thanks!

First, thank you for making an amazing game

This is a rather simple suggestion, allow us to sit on chairs in bars and inns etc and on benches. it’s a small thing but i remember days of having guild meetings at an inn with a pint of virtual beer, or passing the time by just sitting on a bench.

the potential in guild wars 2 is even greater with the emphasis on guilds and socialising, and that is the point, it gives us yet another way to socialise and interact with people in the community, and to encourage dialogue where sometimes i feel it is somewhat lacking. maybe even npcs would talk to you if you sat down? or how about entire event chains all triggered just because someone sat down and overheard a conversation?

thanks for reading my suggestion

Marge, glad you enjoyed them! I feel the same way! I got Factions as a birthday gift, and it was my first GW game, at a very formative time in my life, too. I still play GW1, otherwise I would miss it too much!

People really need to read some Edward Said’s work on Orientalism (and I mean an actual book/essay, not a Wikipedia Article) and realize that representing the East, especially from a Western point of view, is not easy and can be very problematic. Cantha is very much included in this, despite however much you guys want to think it is flawless.

I’m very familiar with Said and his theories of Orientalism. I have read a bit of his own work and definitely a lot of the literature to which his critique applies. (I’m a lit major and soon-to-be grad student. ;P) I agree it’s very important to bring this into the discussion.

Personally I’m not saying Cantha is perfect, I’m saying it means a lot to me. That doesn’t mean I don’t look at it intelligently.

I think leaving it out of the game is not the answer to avoiding Orientalism. Including it and giving it a complex and sensitive portrayal would be better, although naturally much more challenging.

It’s also important to consider how many Asian devs or devs with Asian heritage worked on Factions and are currently part of the Anet team. This is not a cut-and-dried case of westerners creating their fantasy of Asia.

I would hope and expect Anet to be sensitive to the problem when recreating a Canthan expansion. But in light of GW2’s emphasis on tolerance, I would expect this to be a wonderful opportunity to overcome the issue, rather than a danger of falling face-first into it. I am confident Anet would have the same sensitivity as they have in the current game’s portrayal of interracial conflicts, same-sex relationships, and gender equality. No, it’s not easy, but they have done an admirable job so far of overcoming stereotypical and problematic images in fantasy. Any game where we have Kalla Scorchrazor, Caithe and Faolain, and so many other examples seamlessly worked into the world without it being a political sledgehammer is remarkable and gives me respect for the Anet team.

TL;DR: I regard whitewashing Guild Wars and leaving out Asian elements to be just as wrong as including Asian elements in a way that construes them as “other” and falls into the problematic view Said calls Orientalism. I believe Anet has shown they can do a good job portraying Cantha, if given the chance.

A Dev has spoken:Cantha is definitely not cut from the game

Ability to repeat personal story encounters

It would be nice if you could repeat personal story encounters you’ve already completed.

I enjoyed many of the encounters and it would be nice to go back and relive them.

Also there were encounters that I found very challenging and I often completed though a war of attrition. The ability to attempt these again and see if I could learn how to get through them without dying so much would be fun.

Being able to repeat an encounter would also help when people are asking for advice as they’ve got stuck trying it for themselves. Often I know that I’ve managed to complete it but it was a while ago and I’ve forgotten the tactics I used.

I wouldn’t envisage any rewards from doing the encounters again. It would merely be for the fun of doing them.

I would imagine you’d open up the hero panel, go to my story, and select the appropriate step in you story from the list. As well as the current description of what happened there’d be a button to click which said something like “Relive this encounter”. You’d then be taken to the instance in which the encounter took place and returned to where you were afterwards.

Banks: Deposit/Withdraw all coins

Title says what I’m thinking.

I think there should be a “deposit all” close to where you can deposit/withdraw coins in the bank. A “withdraw all” would be handy as well.

The reason for this is that when I go questing and farming I rack up a bunch of loot, sell it, then go to the bank to deposit and I have to tab to my inventory to see how much money I acquired, then tab to the bank again, click around and type some numbers in to deposit a specific amount.

A “deposit all” option would make this process a lot faster and cleaner! Also, when I’m exploring in the world on a character who has very little money and I want to buy something, I’d like to be able to use my account money to do so.

Thanks!

It’s not the first time I have come across this sort of thing for veterans (I’m in the RBL) and maybe one day we will be able to persuade a Government to do some research into whether this could be part of the overall package of treatment given to people in the OP’s situation. Being able to participate and join in with others can be a very healing process and it’s a lot easier to do on a game than it is in real life sometimes.

If it helps even one person get over PTSD then it will have been worth it.

Pure target audience strategy. They saw how westerners rejected Asian elements during Mists of Pandaria development, so they took it as a business rule and wanted to surf on the rejection. That is speculation of course, but it is so obvious …

That’s not what happened. This went down long before anyone even know MOP was coming. It was simply a cultural consideration.

If it is just a cultural consideration it definitely can be rectified. I’m Chinese myself and I know where they are coming from. A universal “Asian” theme was never a cultural issue because it doesn’t actually exist in the real world. It’s fabricated fantasy just like everything else, but with a slight different flavor is all. Plenty of Asian MMOs have those kind of themes. Ragnarok Online was considered a major success in Korea and I think it still exists to this day, the game must have lasted at least a decade. The entire game was modeled after real world cultures, including Asian influences, even East Asian influences. They never actually put hard references to any specific cultures however, which is what you can be dinged for.

Chinese names like Mei Ling and Japanese names like Akihiko is not acceptable because you can actually tell they are Chinese or Japanese. When you put them together it doesn’t make sense. How do they even communicate (and why would they speak with each other anyways)? Why are these names clearly sound like they’re from different languages and have completely different naming rules and conventions? Let’s not even talk about the disproportionately fewer Korean names, because all of these names are problematic.

Then there’s the issue of the “dragon empire” that dominates the other two close proximity vassal states like it’s feudal time all over again. What’s more, the two vassals hated each other forever! Just like it’s in the real world too! Not everyone likes this part of the real world’s history. I’m sure it’s interesting to outsiders, but if you think in the shoes of the actual people who have to deal with this, especially in the shoes of Korea and Japan, who is still facing this very same issue to this day, it suddenly doesn’t sound all that fantastic, really. (And what do you mean Cantha swept the kurzicks and luxons up in one fell swoop anyways? You think the idea that China sweeping up Korea and Japan in one fell swoop will fly at all? Think of the political implications! There is no way this can stay, no matter how you twist it.)

Moving on to the Ministry of Purification, which I can also pinpoint on to real historical events. They are too long ago for me to personally experience, but my parents experienced it. It has also caused them to migrate out of China over and over (yes, this is legit). Again something that people would rather not see in entertainment. It almost feels like those propaganda movies the Chinese government churn out of the assembly lines.

So it seems like I too have a lot of reasons to hate Cantha, but I do still enjoy it for what it offered. The art style touched the tip of the iceberg that is Asian art, and Kaineng city is still a city that is a big change of scenery compared to every other fantasy-themed cities. Fortunately, if NCsoft has not banned the Kodan sanctuaries and Kodan naming conventions, it means they they are actually open to having Asian influences in the game. Cantha can be saved, ironically, by Ministry of Purification. Simply have them burn all records and re-invent history from scratch. Cantha will only be recognized as a nation that only exists in fantasy, and has none of the aforementioned hic ups. It happens to have a very large overpopulated city that is a structural model of New Delhi, while its aesthetics take inspiration from classical East Asia (or else where, or invent your own mix, at least for this part of the game you cannot go wrong). There was never a Dragon Empire. There was never any sort of split. It appears that everything is as harmonious as can be. The plight of the poor versus the wealth and the issues with a bureaucratic, corrupt government exists, but corruption is legitimate anyway, and is treated the same way as in South/South-East Asia. This is workable, and should not step on anyone’s toes, and still retain all the intriguing aspects of Old Cantha for Tyrians to enjoy.

A petition was requested to save Cantha (and Elona):
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/gw2expansions/

Lets do this!

Yay! I was thinking about starting one but you already did, so thanks! I’m curious how many people will actually sign a petition.

I’m glad to see so many people agree that Cantha is an absolute must for the game, and feel as strongly (in a positive way) as I do about it. Seeing the community come together about something that has always been an integral and deep part of the GW lore & Mythos must be pretty fantastic for the developers to see, especially devs like Josh so I hope the discussion continues to move forward!

I would love to see the Jade sea finally back to being water, and thinking about the types of monsters both on land and in the water is pretty exciting. The dynamic events, and everything would definitely be very exciting to see, especially if we had a big event where we took ships from Lions Arch or even from a newly liberated section in Orr now that there is progress being made and there are somewhat less undead swarming everything, the first scene arriving at Cantha would be so amazing…Lol so many of us have made our toons Canthan from the first and now second game, to be able to go ‘home’ is something that I’m pretty sure would be received very positively by most of the community! 250 years is a long time, so many things could have changed by now for the better. I agree with a couple posters above that said that the moments where we’re back in familiar places from GW1 are the most gratifying experiences, after all that is what a true sequel does in my opinion. I’m definitely open and looking forward to new places that weren’t in GW1 but my heart is in the places that were, so being able to return and take part there in a “living” world that Anet has been creating, to see the changes and progress, or lack there of are the most gratifying experiences.

PS: I hope Josh and other devs continue to take part in the conversation

Cantha was my favorite GW1 region to work on. And I worked on every GW release. I know a lot of the dev team loved it and would love to revisit it. I kinda agree with critickitten about the negative aspect of tight corridors. Most of that came from hitting technological limits while trying to keep the epic quality of the concept art. I think we could do some really amazing things with those themes in our new engine. Certainly nothing is ruled out. I certainly encourage anyone to express your desire for a Cantha region in GW2 in a positive and friendly way. It could be years away, but it’s worth asking for.

Here’s the thing, when I saw what the GW2 engine was capable of, Kangang City was the first thing I thought of and went “That would be awesome” Fighting over rooftops, dropping down into the streets, fighting through the buildings…

If you start thinking swashbuckler movies you’ll see where I’m coming from.

Why shouldn’t he get the rewards for the work he put in? He’s not saying, “It’s too hard—make it easier.” He’s not saying, “It’s too much—cut it back.” He’s saying he wants the same difficulty over more time. It hurts no one for him to earn the same as the rest of us at a slower pace. Yes, they are dailies but what is it to you if you earn 7 a week and he earns 2 a week? It’s the same amount of time and effort at a slower pace. Just like if I go and only kill 2 fireflies a day, I will eventually get to level 80. It will take me an extremely long time, but eventually I will get there.

Anet orginally said their goal was to make a game in which every playstyle would work. You could play the way you wanted to. He only has 30min a day to play. Why should he be punished for that? This is a game not a job. It’s meant to be fun. It should not be that you have to put “x” amount of time a day to get anywhere.

No, dailies are not required but neither is playing the game. Right now, dailies and monthlies are the only way to get certain end-game items. Thus, if you want to progress you need to do dailies. It’s not about how much work it is, it’s about making it accessible to everyone regardless of real-life time constraints.

Before anyone mentions it, no, I am not advocating that everything should be made available. Obviously dungeons require a certain amount of time investment that cannot be stretched out. Also, some of the story quests require longer amounts of time. Some things simply require larger time investments. However, dailies are already earned over a period of time. I am not required to go out and farm the daily only for 1 hour straight through. I can go out and kill a couple things, log off for an hour or even ten hours and come back to kill a few more things and they all count towards the daily. The only restriction is that I have to complete it within 24hours. I, however, don’t see what it would hurt to extend that time. If it takes him 4 days to complete it, he gets the rewards for 1 daily completion and has to wait until the next day to start the new one.

Anyway I agree with your title not exactly your post. Perhaps if you could recieve daily points for completeing them. If you do 50% of 4 day’s of dailies then you could get 1 laurel. For players with time, thats wasting 3 laurels but for someone like you that could mean that you could play your own way, get rewarded for the time you spent without completely deconstructing the amount of playtime it takes to get 35 laurels.

Doomguard what about the person that wakes up at 6am est, goes to work at 7am est, comes home around 8pm est, then goes to sleep at 9pm est? Should they suffer because you play this game non stop? it seems rather selfish to just assume everyone revolves around your OWN play-style. I agree they don’t need to be changed but making them harder would in turn penalize the casual players while rewarding the farmers, dungeon runners, etc. who have literally hours upon hours to complete these. Please people use logic before you post against things, and think about all the other players who don’t speak their minds on the forums. As I commented on the necro forums this looks like a change introduced by PvP/WvW. All the complaints about AoE I’ve seen were centered on WvW.

Also bunker builds. I don’t know what is a bunker build but when it comes to PvE I find my elementalist rather squishy. Either I kill all enemies fast or I’ll go down myself. If I need a specific build to be actually viable in PvE I’m going to drop elementalist fully. It already takes way too long to kill some enemies. I simply can’t outlast many of the veteran enemies.

Actually this does not touch me much at all at the moment even if I primarily play staff elementalist as I rarely touch my elementalist nowadays. I mostly farm with my necro or if I’ve to play seriously I’ll either break out my guardian or mesmer. They have much lower skill gap than the elementalist plus they are tougher out of the box and more efficient in solo killing.

Essentially with a guardian and mesmer I can do same solo and with fewer key pushes as I can do with my elementalist in a group.

Is AoE actually a problem? - Discussion Thread

The only reason why (HB) Warrior is so strong, is because of the AI. Hundred Blades and other oftheir burst skills was meant to be easily dodged/ blocked, something that pve enemies can’t do. A Warrior is not even a top tier profession in pvp.

And yes, AoE is a problem. For events, AoE builds are much better at farming than other builds, regardless of the players’ skill level, which is unfair. For pvp, AoE spamming is very stronger against a coordinated team trying to rez their ally and against players defending points, weakening both strategies and making the format slightly more 2-dimensional. In WvW, there’s nothing to say: it’s an AoE fest by nature.

Maybe some of you never thought of this before, while you have been abusing AoE in this game, but just because you got used to it, does not means it was meant this way. That being said, I hope they nerf AoE VERY carefully. I want them to nerf AoE, but noone surely wants them to nerf entire builds, weapon sets or even entire professions because of that.

ever thought on having a guardian put down a healing ring? Ever asked a necro to do that? That’s an AoE. And that’s also the only skill that I was able to contribute to the team in dungeon runs. AoE is not OP. If you really think so start an Ele, Necro or a mesmer and try using the staff. Then switch to something else, like scepter and dagger that mostly targets single enemies. Compare the damage. They’re esentially killing some classes even. Tried playing an Engineer? Find a viable build that wouldn’t use AoE but would be able to kill mobs at PvE level 50…

It’s also unlikely to swamp bandwidth as once you are on a server you are likely to stay for a few hours. Heck if it’s an issue have a 2 hour cooldown like a hearthstone in WoW (hey can even sell reduce that cooldown consumables in the gem store ) or only do the transfer if it’s to a new DC..

To me, at least the logical answer would then be to allow server transfers without impacting WvW and nodes etc.

I believe this can be done by seperating your WvW server choice from the actual server you play on.

Here’s how it could work.

Create a new field on an account, lets call it ‘loyalty’ On logging in after the patch you are asked to choose a WvW server you are loyal to. This loyal field would not change even if you moved servers.

If you change to another server and its not your loyal one you cant enter WvW or indeed see the map.

If you want to change loyalty that will cost you gems, and have the same restrictions as now.

In short, in any comparison check within the code you are making to see if a player can WvW change that comparison to the loyalty field rather than server choice field.

As for the nodes and the like if you are not on your loyal server have a short message pop up saying “you can only loot this on your loyal server” Thus stopping the economy effects. Now sure you wont be able to gather or loot world event chests but thats a tiny sacrifce compared to not being able to at all

Server pride is maintained by use of the loyalty mechanic so thats unaffected. As is spying as it’s possible to have people on different servers in the same guild right now, so this suggestion would change nothing.

In this way we don’t need to redesign the network, servers or routing. We use whatever is in place and working now.

Yes i’m not a dev, but something along these lines would seem to be a simple solution to the problem.

Yes there are some downsides such as potentially waiting and not being able to gather. And perhaps it’s not as neat and nifty as it could be BUT the cost to community of those downsides as far, far less than splitting it in half.

It just needs the will and desire to think around the problem.

In wvw meteor shower not used to deal damage but to deny area to he other team. It’s damage needs to be high enough to get players to not stand in the area and try and tank the damage. Meteor shower also requires us to stand in place while we cast it with a very obvious animation. making us very easy to take down while trying to use it. And I’m ok with that trade off.
