I don’t care if I’m not being polite, plenty of people have asked to have this fixed and I’ve asked more than once myself.
The problem: If you place an AC (arrow cart) in the right spot and set your field of view (FOV) to max, you can hit all players and siege inside a tower or keep.
Using this “method” completely eliminates the attacker and defender roles and just leaves the attackers with an unfair advantage. It is absolutely game breaking, a waste of time and money for the people who build and buy the siege and nothing short of frustrating. I am so beyond tired of spending hours upgrading a structure, adding siege and making all preparations for an attack just to have it all become irrelevant when a zerg puts down 1 or 2 AC’s outside, kills all my siege and chases me around inside the tower with the AC’s.
For anyone who wants to say “well go outside and fight”, that’s not always an option. There’s a reason for building defensive siege and most times it’s just to slow the enemy down until your own zerg can arrive to help defend. But you can’t do anything when the enemy builds these stupid AC’s. I am trying so hard not to curse and make juvenile threats but it’s so infuriating to have this happen on a regular basis.
PLEASE FIX IT. I know you, ANet, are busy with the expansion and other things but this has been happening for a long while now and seriously needs some attention. It’s not something that “occasionally” happens it’s something that happens on a daily basis. WvW is not supposed to be a karma train, it’s a strategic war game. These FOV exploit arrow carts used to be called “zoom hacking” and now it’s a “feature.”
I just spent 2 hours upgrading Quentin Lake in Eternal Battlegrounds, sieged it right to the teeth, and Dragonbrand comes by, drops 6 rams and 1 arrowcart, clears all the siege and kills some of the defenders inside the tower with the arrowcart. I was so angry I was about to throw my computer across the room.
So one last time,
PLEASE
FIX
IT
NOW.

I think roaming is on it’s way out. This is just my opinion.
- Condi builds are common and I can see why. My problem is that, win or lose, they generally don’t provide a fun fight
- Too many pile on ponies that turn somewhat even fights into lopsided disappointments
- More overall damage output so now whenever you do actually find a fight, its over pretty fast. Hardly worth the running around to find them.
If it was dead, how come i see people in WvW when i finally got in?
I still see blobs everywhere…
I would appreciate if it was a little dead, less blobs = more fun =)
Well of course! Armor skins > outfits majority of the time. But as far as I know Anet will not further add armor skins to the gemstore and from here on out only give us outfits.
The frustrating thing is because there are so few you can not help running into someone else who looks practically the same.
The best solution is to do something like the old town clothes. Rather than a single item for everything allow some amount of mix and match. Or at least allow various pieces to be turned off so the armor skin can show through.
I ran null sec black ops most of the time in eve and I can tell you a lot about the shady nature of that game. I can also tell you about the gear diversity that game had due to very harsh death penalties. We do not need to go all the way to one kill you are gone forever but we can work with the idea of a death penalty. As the cost of dying goes up people risk dying less… this risk translates into better gear diversity and more skillful levels of play. It would seem the best idea is to adjust this death penalty until the desired level of diversity exist. The earlier option was to make it an opt in system for people who want gear diversity but if they do lesser (but harsh) death penalties I would think it should be for everyone (and this is what I think many people in this thread were afraid of).
Currently in game: normal=trash, magic=trash, rare= trash, exotic non-zerker= trash, exotic zerker= stepping stone for newbs, ascended non-zojja’s= trash or trade in, ascended zojja’s= the only thing worth having. So 18 piece of armor and 1 of each type of weapon out of how many? More hp on mobs and less attack speed will not fix this issue as they will just face roll the keyboard that much longer. Upping the armor in silverwaste did not really help anything as people just face rolled against the mobs longer. Adding nasty condition effects like bleeding on Trin did not fix it as people just face roll longer. See a trend here? If dying is nothing glass cannon will always be meta.

Dear Anet, please take my 1000 Gems for a [Golden Unlimited Shovel] <3
I have to say this, as someone who does farm SW a lot (practically live there) I’ve been getting a lot less shovels from events too..
What does “a lot less” mean in terms of numbers?
- How many events did you do per week 2 months ago and how many shovels did you get then?
- How many events did you do this week and how many shovels did you get?
Humans have demonstrably poor memories about things like this: we overvalue recent memories over distant ones, we undervalue average results, and we tend to remember results that confirm our preconceptions and forget those that do not. Without keeping track, most of us are mostly wrong about anything that involves comparing amounts from different periods of time.
tl;dr in the absence of specific numbers, we should “assume” that the drop rate for shovels hasn’t changed.
Beer
Pot
Good looking women
Hot tub
You know the usual, I love the dungeon theme BTW.
If you mean in game, a friendly group willing to help each other with whatever skills they have. I’m not picky.
So, Anet, why are you ignoring a question that is important to over 2/3 of your player base?
Asking a question in these forums and not getting any answers is not doing your reputation much good.
This is an urgent and important question for anyone who cares about the state and health of WvW – the True End Game in Guild Wars 2
In most cases I wouldn’t stick up for Anet but, first, it’s hardly 2/3 of the \wv\w player base. Second, the question has been answered, it’s going to take some time for them to get some accurate numbers. And lastly, it’s really only urgent for a small number who are in T1 and having a tantrum, locking the stacked servers IS important to the state and health of the game.
Until they either merge, or come up with a better system this is probably one of the smartest things they have done for WvW in 3 years.
Server politics, almost as dumb and pointless as rl politics. I do find it funny and ironic how everybody believes in their own facts & truths, and apparently everybody else is wrong for seeing things differently. But just like in rl, sometimes both parties can be right, they simply see things and experience things differently from their perspectives.
I see a lot of misinformation tossed around, but that’s what happens when you get into politics. Each server is going to agree and cheer on only those speaking for their servers, and they’ll think everybody else is rubbish even if they make sense. Not gonna bother getting into details on the wrong info people are posting. Because frankly it won’t make a difference as people are dead set in believing what they’re saying.
Zerging is the current meta mostly because it’s all around the most effective way to do things in the current wvw.
-More people means more supply so you can build more siege to take things more quickly. Taking things more quickly means less chance of a defense.
-Safety in numbers. Having numbers means it will take numbers to wipe your group.
-It’s generally more fun and profitable to zerg than it is to sit in a keep waiting for someone to attack.
Nothing new under the sun. Was it fair when there were 4 T2 servers all stacked? The 2 T3 servers that took the brunt of that mess had the same choice-stick it out or transfer. Blobbing, spawn camping, etc, etc, were a daily occurrence for almost 4 months. The only difference was that they could transfer up or down. Now that all but 2 of the higher tiers are closed, most will transfer down. It’s the same animal-just players shuffled around. IMO, the change is a good idea even though, it came late for the server that I called home. Some would blame ANET. I think it is all the fault of the player base & ANET is trying to remedy the situation. Doesn’t matter if anyone agrees with me or not-I’m allowed to post my feeling like everyone else.
Maps have queues?
Well i’m not suggesting they remove all all, just clean up that debris around the lake and maybe reduce it somewhat in the lake as well.
The events and spores nodes can stay as a reminder of that event, but i just think all that debris makes the map look ugly and doesn’t need to remain there forever.
this night time thingy has been suggested like 2 years ago… maybe it will come out in the expansion … i can only hope
turn off name tags, dark nights, let the fun begin
It really depends on the server you are fighting. Some severs still have plenty of good solo/small groups running around. Others will flat out run from you even if they have you outnumbered, camp in towers with ac’s and wait until they can get a 20+ man group together before chasing you down with venom wells.
1- You can dodge any channeled high damage ability from a power build, you cannot dodge most abilities that apply conditions.
2- Conditions are reapplied very very quickly and easily in comparison to the equivelant channeled high damage abilities which as stated above are easily dodged/evaded.
3- Most power builds have to be very glassy to to make the damage worth it Vs a full Dire/Rabid condi build that has no element of risk in it’s stats.
Bottom line is condi is considerably harder to dodge/evade, condi bursts hits as hard or harder, the ease and frequency at which condis are applied and the tankyness of these builds.
90% of power roamers have to use full zerker so why are condi specs given an advantage before the fight starts with Rabid/Dire combos when they can burst/tick as hard as we can burst/dps.
It’s called crappy balance and it needs to be fixed by having PvE, PvP and WvW damage numbers seperated from each other, PvP is the closest thing to solving this with the amulet system but it just would work, cooldowns of condi skills need to be adjusted in WvW independantly of PvE with Dire armour being removed completly (and the owner of the dire armour being given the option to change the stats of his dire armour or delete it) and the tanky stats of other condition armour brought more in line with zerker and knights stats.
It’s all well and good saying Melandru/Lemon grass reduces condi duration but when the condi ticks for 8k a sec that means nothing especially when the condis are applied again very shortly after that in comparison to a power builds burst cooldowns. The only two classes who are unaffected by the condi meta are Thieves and Elementalists using diamond skin butthat’s ok Ele is the only thing Anet care about and we all know it’s perfectly balanced.
Condi damage does not need to be nerfed, we don’t need more condi removal we just need longer cooldowns on abilities that apply conditions or a global cooldown for cany one condition to be applied again, don’t be stupid and cry for a full condi nerf as it’s not needed.

There’s 0 chance the populations will end up balanced if you leave it to the player themselves with no hard rules to enforce balance.
You do realize that the core design of WvWvW is self sabotaging, right? An international gaming community playing an open world conquest mode that’s 24/7 scoring for a week on not one but four different maps will never be balanced. Ever. And if I couldn’t play with my friends, then that’s pretty good reason to not play the game and I wouldn’t ask them to come down to a server that’s dead when we play.
There could have been large scale conquest/deathmatch arenas for various sized groups, instead we have people crying about pug communities as if people aren’t transferring/taking breaks/outright quitting and impacting the servers anyway, population is fluid, sorry it’s just what it is.
Instanced arenas for pug and pre-made large scale combat (conquest/death match/whatever) could have worked. Ditch the anonymous names for enemies and you’ll see familiar faces and new ones too, right now it doesn’t stop trash talk, it just lumps players under a banner of “other”. There would still be community and team pride and melee trains/ ranged bombs/roamers/scouts/pick teams and now you can get worthwhile rewards and even have leaderboards because the teams are <gasp> balanced! They could have rotated one PvE map every week that had PvP enabled (don’t like PvP, don’t go to the map, there are a dozen more to choose from), so people can roam and brawl and fight over bosses that have special skin drops, whatever just no ridiculous scoreboard.
There’s 0 chance the populations will end up balanced if you leave it to the player themselves with no hard rules to enforce balance.
You won’t balance it either way. Population is constantly changing in this game and it will never be a fixed value. People stop playing, new people buy the game, new people enter WvW as a game mode, the list goes on… and on… and on…So don’t you think it would be better to search for a solution that doesn’t revolve around a metric that is so volatile and inconsistent? Thats all I am saying, there has got to be a way to bring balance without trying to create “fixed” populations because no servers are ever going to have a population that doesn’t change on a daily/weekly/monthly/yearly basis.
WvW Commander – NA PST
Sexiest Level 80 Charr Guardian In The Game
If it helps any, T1 is in a sad state as well. We had 30 players in TS for all 4 maps at the start of NA Prime. That’s it… 30! Players just aren’t logging into WvW anymore. The mode got hit hard with the Golem rush event, the ridiculous transfer’s to YB, and now the server lock downs. I don’t know which of them was the straw or if it was the combination of all 3 but, a lot of players seem to be completely done with the game and WvW for now.
So GJ! to those involved in such things, you successfully imploded the mode.
I think right now in the middle of summer sunshine when there has not been any real new content in GW2 in 8 months, almost a year since the last WvW tourney and people are jumping on and off the HoT hype train like it is going out of style is probably the worst time to make any sort of sweeping statements about the state of WvW populations on any given tier. We all know T1 is so overfull in NA timezones at least that it is likely double the new cap and we all know tons of people are on “holiday” for whatever reason right now so lets not starting crying about how we can’t play that super stacker game anymore covering our lulls with MOAR players. Lest we forget that is how we all ended up this mess in the first place with a community so diluted and lackluster that it is hard to care about. We pretty much broke it ourselves and I don’t envy ANET trying to find the least harmful fix for the long run but dang, you gotta give it a little bit of time people.

French players on Vizunah just adapt to counter ennemy fight style.
Respect your ennemies and you will be respected, this is how everything work.
Due to the disrespect I have shown Vizunah lately I have been asked to remedy the situation.
Now, let me first say that we want to apologize for the trolling and forum warrioring that we as VoTF have taken a part in. In light of what happened we were certainly out of line to accuse Vizunah of cowardice and night capping. Going into tier 1, we expected high competition and Vizunah delivered nothing short of this always rising up to the challenge. However many times we fought, they would always return again, always hungry for more. To this honestly I owe you Vizunah guys a congratulations.
Can we take back the hate that we showed to Vizunah? As we have in the past, we seek to present ourselves as mature and competitive opponents. Perhaps it is too late for that as we acknowledge that we have been hostile towards Vizunah and it’s outstanding fighters. Possibly moving forward we will seek to show more respect to our French enemies and the situation will be ameliorated. In either case we wish to resolve our differences and get along as players having fun in a game. None of us will find much pleasure in continually trolling on the forums so there is not much point. Gaming should be fun, and regardless of how a server plays, they should not be subject to the kind of abuse VoTF showed in the past.
To those who wish to continue the hate towards VoTF and point fingers at us, we understand where you are coming from, but we ask that you give us a second chance. Rarely will an established guild provide the community with an apology like ours, with a sincere intention. Any guild providing a post like this clearly has a level of respect towards their enemies despite what has been said in the past. So with that said, I hope there are no hard feelings between VoTF and Vizunah as we acknowledge that we may have stepped past the line. Hope to continue the outstanding battles in game <3
GW1 Rank 1 – 2 Gold Capes – [sC] [sup]
There is something that would be better than a moon/sun indicator, it would be awesome that if we could look to the sky and if it were dark it would be night, if it was clear/bright it would be day …
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
rather than a mini sun or moon to tell you whether it’s daytime or not, I would much prefer an actual, visible difference in the light.
ANet may give it to you.
I will never understand why people hate conditions so much…
- Conditions ignore toughness
- You don’t need ferocity or precision, so why not go full dire
- At this moment condition burst comes pretty close to power burst
- 40% condition duration foods (increase and decrease)
- The PvE changes that bleed into WvW and SPvP (also vice versa, but I don’t play PvE so not sure how much of an impact it makes)
- Perplexity runes, 5 confusion stacks every 15 seconds
- Passive gameplay of applying conditions then turtling
At the moment the way conditions work is very similar to power builds, you use your big damage skills to burst someone down while only having to worry about how much vitality they have, what conditions should have been was a form of attrition warfare. A condition build should eventually wear down and overpower a power build due to the conditions stacking. Instead we have everyone bursting as if they are running a power build without having to sacrifice vitality or toughness for ferocity or precision. Yes there are some traits that proc on precision but you only need enough precision to make sure they theoretically proc once every CD period. So now you’ve got someone decked out in mostly dire armor with some rabid for that little bit of precision, yet they can still maintain the same DPS output as a power build.
This is only a WvW problem but the 40% condition food is so broken and it feels like I’m the only one that thinks that, FORTY PERCENT. How did anyone think that was a good idea. Another WvW only problem are the perplexity runes, almost every condition build I come across in WvW while roaming is running this. This is a huge damage increase before the recent big patch and even bigger after the patch. Before confusion could have been avoided completely, not the case anymore. There was also a damage bump across conditions in general so they could keep up in PvE. Poison stacks intensity instead of duration, burn turned into a bigger and better version of bleed and confusion does damage without having to attack.
You’ve also got condition builds that will stack conditions on you and go full defensive. The main example being condition mesmers and thieves, mostly due to access to stealth. Although this isn’t a problem in SPvP because constantly stealthing lets the enemy capture the points meanwhile you’re too slow to kill the guy and get +1ed.
My opinions on this is that conditions need a rework, at the moment they are way to similar to power builds without the same risks. I would have no problem with conditions ignoring toughness, that would be a great way to counter bunkers, if they were an attrition build. I’m also not saying that they should revert the changes to conditions back to what they were before. Poison can keep stacking intensity and confusion can do damage without having to attack but at least their coefficients need to be looked at for WvW and SPvP.
I don’t agree with the way how conditions work right now but I also don’t know how I would fix it.
edit: Dire armor is also a WvW only problem.

Anet has all these nice shinies for spvp and pve because it is really easy to score an individual’s accomplishments, be they killing champs or other players or winning matches. Before anet can think about giving out desirable rewards for wvw, they need to first figure out how to quantitatively score the things we do in wvw. How many “points” should be awarded for wvw activities like winning fights, taking objectives, etc. It is the nebulous, never-ending nature of wvw that makes a reward system challenging. Also, anet has to be careful to not create a farmable reward system that will pull in primarily pve players (aka rallybots) and ruin the game for us primary wvw players.
I know we all like to complain about how anet doesn’t care about wvw. It is pretty obvious that wvw rewards are laughable compared to spvp or pve. However, if getting better rewards means a bunch of wvw noobs flood the maps during prime time and I spend an hour in queue, i’d rather anet keeps wvw as it is.
