Yes it has flaws that need to be addressed like the camera.

No it doesn’t need to be nerfed so absolutely everyone can do it. You do not in any way NEED to beat the gauntlet. It gives you nothing but a handful of acheevo points and a mini, plus bragging rights. That is it. It doesn’t impact your game experience one little bit.

I do not want this nerfed. Fixed, but not nerfed.

As a Necro player with 2k hours in I’ve tried Liadri 160 times.
I came close to beating her a few times, but yeah it sure is difficult since Necros have no blocks, no invul and no vigor.

Then again there are a few Necros who got it in 5 or 6 tries on the Necro forums, so it’s clearly not impossible at all.

Go full single target condition damage. She absolutely melts in Phase 2 like nothing, even with green gear. I actually did it on my first try with my necro (After doing it on my ranger, so I knew the pattern already.)

Any sufficiently advanced skill is indistinguishable from luck.

Punishment for failure makes the success taste that much sweeter. When you succeed it’ll feel like a real achievement.

Not like the ones where you whack a bunch of trees.

Exactly! I play guild wars 2 since its release and enjoy playing but I was never really excited if i get loot or an achievement but this fight was epic!!!
After many try & fails I finally defeated her and my first reaction was to jump of my chair and yelling loud YES!! I never had such an reaction in an game ever so anet did a great job in my opinion

This was the first time in a game ever i was happy to achieved something and it is a good feeling!

I know the fight is tough but you just have to keep trying and for players like me, that tryed so hard to get this minipet its a slap in the face if anet is going to make it easier and if you still can’t beat her who the f cares that much about a minipet.

There are many hardcore players who have been waiting for harder content and now Anet finally gave us some (although we still need some hard Team content)

Please don’t take this away from us. Anet releases plenty of content for the casual players, so please don’t make them nerf the only challenging thing out so far.

As a casual player, based mainly on time available to play, I know that my chances of beating Liadri before the QG goes away this time are pretty slim. Knowing how difficult she is from player chatter makes me not too fussed about it, though. It’s not like you get a game-changing reward from beating her.

I’m all for making the game accessible, but I’d also say there needs to be very hard content available. I think it would be nice if it wasn’t time-limited, but that’s the only criticism I’d give. There are tough challenges in GW1 that I never did manage to beat, despite playing that game for 5 years. It’s okay. I survived.

Greetings,

If you read or post on our official forums, you may have noticed the +1 button next to each post. Recently, we have updated this system with more features and visibility for you, the players. You can find the full forum update notes here. This post is to familiarize you all with the new features in our +1 system and how they affect you.

Added a link to user profile pages which shows posts that a user has +1’d, ordered such that top-most is the most recent

Added a link to user profiles to show highly rated posts ordered descending by score

When visiting a user’s profile page, you can view all posts that user has +1’d starting with the most recent, or see all of their own posts that have been +1’d by others sorted descending by score.

Both of these options are opt-in, because we respect your privacy and don’t want to force you into sharing information you are not comfortable with sharing. As such, you may not see these links in other user profile pages immediately. You will always see these links on your own page, regardless of your settings.

To allow others to view these pages on your own profile, click on your display name in the upper right of the forum, then on the following page, click “Edit Profile”, check the last two boxes and click “Save changes”.

Popularity is divided between popular and very popular as well as per-thread and forum-wide

What this means is that there are two levels of popularity, categorized “popular” and “very popular”. Currently these are indicated by a thumbs-up icon that appears next to the +1 button. If a post is very popular, the thumbs-up earns a star that appears within said icon.
Our future plans include updating these indicators to something more visually striking. Until then, this is how you will know if a post has achieved popular status.

There are also two levels in which posts are gauged for popularity, on a per-thread basis and forum-wide. Forum-wide popularity takes into account +1s from within a set time period across the forum. Per-thread popularity takes into account all +1s in a thread. Visually, a forum-wide popular post will have a red underline beneath the thumbs-up icon.

Over the next few weeks, we will monitor thresholds against post-scores and make adjustments as we see is necessary to ensure accurate display of popularity indicators. Going forward, if you read a post and like it, press that +1 button. It’s how you let us, and other players, know that you liked what you read.

I find that I am much less vocal about the areas of the game that I enjoy. Coming to the forums to post compliments seems a frivolous waste of time for all involved. If I am enjoying the game, I am playing it rather than posting here. As a result, when I post my concerns, I am marked as a ‘forum troll’ or a ‘hater’.

Hmm thats a bad idea in my opinion and not because of how people will regard you but mostly because you should care more about not having what you hate, you should strive to have more of what you like.

If you enjoy Dynamic Events for example but hate jumping puzzles.

lets say your negative feed back on JP leads to an update having no JP and instead they add new mini games ? is that out come better then praising DE while voicing your concerns on JP which leads to an update that contains DE instead of JPs?

How about an update that has DE and JP… wouldnt that be a lot better then an event that has mini games which make no difference to you and JP which you hate?

Dont think praising what you like is frivolous at all, it gives context to everyone as well as helps move the game in a direction that you dont like as opposed to simply trying to avoid a direction that you dislike.

Token Wallet! Thank you a-net!

This thread isn’t feedback. It’s “this is my opinion and I’m taking it as factual for everyone”.

Time to close?

I’ve never claimed my opinion as universal. This is the most serious form of feedback that can be offered, the honest criticism of someone who actually appreciates what this game is at it’s core, what the Manifesto meant for the genre and the ways this year has been a major disappointment. Kowtowing benefits no one.

That few on the other side can do more than dismiss or deflect, rather than add to the conversation isn’t a failing of the critics of the current direction of the game.

That’s the last I’ll say to those who wish this conversation would just go away. People are very welcome to offer their opinion to the discussion, though it would be most appreciated if it’s in a form that actually adds to the discussion.

Maybe you don’t see the Manifesto as anything special? Maybe you prefer this form of content to an evolution of the game world via Dynamic Event content? Maybe you prefer a check list to grind for rewards to free form exploration and immersion in the game world? We don’t know where you are coming from, other than that you just don’t want to hear criticism of the game and wish we would just stop talking.

Everyone’s a critic, but I am not seeing where you are coming from. Maybe it is just me but all I read is “I don’t like this QQ”

Constructive criticism is welcome, but rage QQ is not.

I’ve been pretty detailed in where I’m coming from. Some people get it, agree or not. Other can’t, don’t or won’t grasp the reasons many are frustrated. I know most of the developers will understand what is being said and likely a good portion of it will be seen as valid, if stinging, criticism.

The temptation to add “double que” to any post should be the first clue that maybe a bit more thought should be given before entering a conversation.

If people appreciate the ways the game is departing from the Manifesto and prefer adventure by checklist over the great potential the game and the manifesto offered us, I’d be happy to hear about it. Maybe Anet just has a better finger on the pulse of the players and has decided that the Manifesto and the core game design were a mistake to be rectified.

I’d be sad to have that be the conclusion of these difficult and critical discussions, but it would still be worth knowing.

OR, maybe they’ve been bumbling through a year worth of content learning how to fine tune their design? Maybe they’ve been developing a handful of events they can bring back again and again, just like in GW1 and many other MMOs before now. Maybe, as they have specifically stated not even a month ago, from this point on they will be working toward providing content that will expand and develop the world we play in, not just provide oneshots with no meaning after the fact.

Seriously, we got more out of the developers, even through temporary content, in one year than I’ve seen from many MMOs in their lifetime. They’ve been trying things out, laying the groundwork, and now they are in a position, that they weren’t a year ago, to run with it and actually make things happen.

I am still enjoying the game a lot. I still have a little bit of joy when I log on, and a little sadness when it’s time to log off. So while I wouldn’t have stated things as strongly as the OP, there are several good points in there:

1) Some parts of this game make me embarrassed. I went to see what all the fuss was about when people were holding up an event in Orr, making sure it didn’t complete so they could farm endlessly spawning mobs. I did that for about 20 minutes before I gave up and fled the mindlessness of it. ANet got around to fixing that event so it couldn’t be farmed, but what about some of the other areas of the game?

The first time I started doing the world boss shuffle, I remember commenting to my guildies, “What a silly way to play a video game.” It’s kind of embarassing that I have gw2stuff sitting there open on a second monitor so I can rotate through pinata zerg after pinata zerg, but it’s so hard to resist when it gets me rares so much faster than any of the other open-world content.

This morning I went to the pavilion to see what was new. After getting hopelessly confused by the upper rings (is there a point to those?) I figured out where the entrance to the center actually is. I jumped in with the Champ zerg, and after the initial excitement at how quickly I was getting loot and getting my dailies/monthly knocked out, I started to feel that familiar sense of embarassment growing. Is this what I really want from an adventure game?

2) We have not seen the living world that ANet set us up to expect, yet. When they talked about having the infrastructure to drop new DEs into existing zones, did anyone imagine that it would look like this? Identical flame and frost portals sprinkled throughout a few zones? Identical balloon escort quests evenly spaced, a couple per zone, across tyria?

I certainly didn’t. I’m a pretty low key person with a lot of patience, so I’m hanging in there, and haven’t given up hope. The festivals are a foundation that can now rotate through next year, so that they can spend more time developing more ambitious content. Perhaps I am naive, but I’m willing to believe, and see what the next six months brings.

Still, Fiontar makes an excellent post, that so far they haven’t delivered in this department except on some, very basic, level.

3) I honestly had no idea how complex some of the game has become with currencies and inventory management until my wife started playing just recently. Explaining which things to vendor, which things to Mystic flush, which to bank, and which to TP is a lot more complicated that I would have imagined, given how automatic of a process it is for me. Last night, after cleaning out our inventories from the previous play session, stocking up on gathering tools, and updating our gear, she said, “Whew, only an hour in and we’re ready to actually do something.”

So while I wouldn’t have stated things as strongly as the OP, neither would I dismiss it as a “wall of hate”. There are several good points made there, and I can feel Fiontar’s very real frustration which comes from a place of really liking the core of the game and world.

disagree with the OP, this update is pure fun for me… not because of the rewards but because of the neat design of the gauntlet. I haven’t tried the other features (baloons, torch-race etc.) yet but I really love the solo-player challenge.

As a pretty casual player I have to say this is a lot of fun.

I don’t even approach caring about all the special currencies. You want all the currencies to be shared so that “casuals” can come in every other event and buy something, but take no consideration for that would mean for the non-casuals that horde thousands of the things. It’s not designed around casual play because that’s an asinine thing to do.

The balloons are silly, but really very nice looking. They add new events to areas that are in placed that expose players to yet more events. Also because the achievement actually requires going into no less that 15 zones to complete it, no one can just do it in a starter zone and move on. Everyone will have to spread out a lot in order to finish the achievement. This is a good thing for the game.

The pavilion is gorgeous, plain and simple. The arena under it is a little strange, but so what, it’s still cool. The only problem I have with it is how far down it is. I get the collapse was big, but did they seriously have to go all the way to the bottom of it in order to do that?

You’re not having fun. You’ve been around for a while and been a supporter and now you’re not liking it. Well I’ve been around since beta, and I’ve stuck it out. My whole guild abandoned the game too, but I am still loving it. Sometimes I get bored and only do just enough to get the daily, and sometimes not even that much. Then they bring out a new event and I’m right back into it. This one is no different.

I don’t understand why you seem to think this is Themepark. It encourages you to go to certain places, but it also encourages you to spread out. It also has no consideration with how you do it. It is still very sandbox. Perhaps you would be happier just moving on. They’re obviously not updating things with you in mind. Everything is still just fine by me.

This content and all other temporary content is optional………….. There is still the rest of the game. If you don’t want to put in the time , you won’t get the rewards. This is by far the best update they have released. Seems like every update that is tied to LS keeps on improving.

Also if you don’t like the whole Living Story concept , then just don’t participate in them. There are many players out there that don’t give two craps about LS, at least they don’t come on the forums and cry about it.

…but regarding continuity, any reason why Rox and Braham have no idea who I am anymore? It hasn’t been that long since I saw them last to have to reintroduce myself all over again.

Its kind of a weird disconnect. They know you in the story instance, but then outside they don’t. Not really sure what the deal is there.
