okay so I was jamming on a dueling server today and this guy highlord comes in, and I think im pretty tough kitten right, rocking axe war horn semi bunker build centered around dolyak runes and locust swarm and stun.
anyway, he comes in asks for duel and absolutely dominates me, hands down no question . So i proceed to ask him about his build, and its this MM stuff and I have been converted, for the past two hours we’ve been jaming in a dueling server against various opponents talking about this build.
I highly recommend trying this, although it will take some getting used to. But its absolutely killer for 1v1.
I strongly agree with exactly what Geff and Empathic Fighter said.
Warrior is actually how all classes in GW2 should be. No cheap moves, no cheap AoE, no 1 button miracles. Work for the kittening kill!! That’s how true e-sports should be like.
Tone down aoe, tone down stealths, illusions and all the crap that’s poluting the game, and we might just see some playable spvp then.
I so agree with this. I can’t +1 you enough.
PvP in this game has gotten out of control: blinds all over the place, free access to vigor, low CD on demand invulnerabilities/blocks/evades, etc.
The Warrior is the best designed profession, with well telegraphed skills that allow for counter play and require good positioning, offer a good measure of risk vs reward, they have to balance their traits to have good damage and/or good defense, their weapons have a clear and defined porpuse (ex. every Mesmer taking sword mh due to an OP invulnerability), so do their traits and utility skills. The balance in this game has already gotten into the Whac-A-Mole way, sticking new stuff out of nowhere (Torment), overbuffing Necromancers, not tunning down certain things enough… instead of balancing what’s already there.
I agree on AoE damage, which has been a little too much for some time now, this includes Warriors as well.
This, this, this, over 9000 times this.
A-net please read THIS.
AoE is not balanced

Eh, its a big help, but still we are being pigeon-holed toward a few strong keynote combos.
There are still sooo many more cool builds they could open up by fixing Death Magic, further working on Vampric stuff, Minions, etc.
I don’t see any justification for nerfing this skill. Necros were meant to be able to control boons. This skill was our bunker breaker, it was one of the few skills we had that made us unique in tournaments. Limiting it this way, makes our effectiveness in this role to do a nose dive.
I’m afraid they did to this skill, what they did to corrosive poison cloud.
With all the boosts we got, this nerf makes the entire patch bitter for me.
Oh and by the way, something being “insanely powerful under ideal circumstances” can’t be called OP.

Making vampiric traits scale with healing power, is a double-edged sword. It will require the base healing of vampirics to be reduced and made to scale to higher amounts with a high enough healing power.
This pretty much forces vampiric necromancers to spec in healing power and take healing power gear.
If they keep the base heal and improve the healing just slightly (very slightly) with healing power, it would not be a bad idea though. It won’t make it too powerful and will give the healing power necro builds, something to be happy about.
I always thought boon removal/conversion was first in last out.
Considering how fast boons get put up, corrupt boon does not need a nerf.
I seriously see no reason for CB to be nerfed. It’s already hard to even get it to land. Then I look at Ele, Guardian and Engi’s being able to completely cleanse those condis or even turn them right back into boons just as fast as we can convert them. So I ask you, why?
taking into account how quickly some professions can stack boons and how hard it is to actually land this ability, a cooldown reduction or some sort of LF gain on use will be required to keep this slotted, otherwise it may turn into yet another never used utility.
I kinda get why this skill is being nerfed, since it seems insanely OP when used under ideal circumstances. But it would be nice if it were compensated heavily for a nerf like, or at least prioritized Stability, Vigor, and Protection.
How to Condi Reaper on a budget
Everything I say is only in reference to PvE and WvW.
I bet that thieves and mesmers have easier access to this new condition than necromancers since it is DS 5.
So, they are giving the class with the most mobility that is nearly impossible to catch an anti-mobility condition that will damage people trying to catch them?
Brilliant.
We need something unique to draw people to play necromancers. How many thieves and mesmers do you think will drop their class to roll necro if they have access to this new condition as well?
Solo & Roaming Group WvW Movies
Like Death Knights in WoW:
They had less defences, but more self healing than other tank classes.
Not saying it should be a percentage of HP, but it may be an idea: Warriors not having protection, but having a stable heal over time. Then it’s up to the player avoiding being spiked.
Thus I think Healing Signet should be reworked, or buffed. A lot.
because he doesn’t know it himself
Here’s a sample of what will be updated:
Necro:
- New Death Magic grandmaster trait: “Don ’t just stand there! Do something!”: Your minions will stop just walking around and looking pretty and actually try attacking your enemies. (50 second cooldown)
Mesmer:
- Your illusion’s response time has been improved to 0.0000000001 second.
If you don’t mind, replace the single bleed stack you get from corrupting Vigor into Chill of equal duration, please.
agree. they should bring all classes/builds to the skill level of phantasm mesmer.
