I main engi, warrior and necro and have played a little bearbow here and there but deleted a few weeks ago to make room for my necro but now I’m getting a little bored with how stiff my necro and warrior are.

Now I solo queue 99% of the time, is there any point me trying ranger? I’m getting a bit bored of not being able to escape on necro or not being able to stick to anyone on warrior.

So I’m stuck over trying mesmer, learning ele or trying ranger. Any thoughts from you ranger pro’s?

Really? That’s cool then I think I’ll definitely give it a shot. Love my engi but my warrior feels like a deadweight now. Is there anything advanced you can tip me with before I try? Like any combos etc? I’d love to try get good at Mesmer and engi and necro, then I’d the a pretty awesome selection of classes

How well can this class solo queue carry? I play warr necro engi now but warr is feeling a little stale and useless, necro is fine but it’s almost impossible to escape if I’m targetted I just end up waiting for a rez Lmao…

Engi I’m loving its insanely fun… How is Mesmer? Is it still in that OP state of mind or is it mid-top tier now? And is there any combo fields I need to know about for it or do I just pop clones and nuke people lol…

Yeah asura is awesome but not always hahaha. Human I’d a lot nicer to look at on engi, retooled my asura warrior to norn too.

I love stance dancing, it’s what I love about engi. I loved it on Ele but tun I found Ele got very dull to play.

I swap a lot probably never for the right things but I do the old Nader 523 wrench 32/5 rifle 2354 etc etc… It seems very viable still, engi, seems all top teams run them still too. rampage is a fun edition also, wrecking lords solo is always entertaining with rampage.

My 1 downfall is solo pve feels quite weak, I seem very squishy and rotation seems like a mind kitten.

It seems out of all my classes that I play, engi is my strongest choice for success. I play necro warrior and engi.

First things first I mostly play on my Necro and Warrior but am slowly figuring out that Warrior is pretty poor these days and Necro is farily immobile which doesn’t excite me much at all…!

My first and only level 80 is my Engineer, however shortly after hitting 80 I decided to not bother playing it, purely because I couldn’t stand being Asura on my Engi, it just didn’t sit right, I hated it, not sure why, just did… This morning I decided to make a Male Human Engi and give it a go, with the backpack and the rifle, already visually much more appealing to look at whilst grinding out games, so love it so far.

I’m very newb with my Engi, generally I pull my rifle rotation then jump into Nade kit and work my way into using wrench 2/3 if I can for some extra DPS… Figure Wrench 3 hits pretty kitten hard. However I have NO IDEA how to do fire field, this is why I sucked at my Elementalist, I have no idea how to do it, or how to sustain them… can anyone give me an example of how to properly do these combos on an Engineer?

I’m running the soldier rifle build that I saw on metabattle as it seemed to be the strongest, I rarely ever group queue, I almost always solo queue… how viable are we with our builds? do we have quite a few we can safely run for queueing? or are we limited to a certain 1 or 2? I found on my Warrior I only really do well with a GS/LB variant of the GS/Hammer build…

so yeah, long story short for people who get sick of reading… Had an 80 asura engi, hated it, made human engi, love it, used to play warrior/necro, now realize theyre pretty lame.. so back to engi. playing soldier rifle, no idea how to use fire fields or create combos… are we solid for solo queue?

I just run soldier engi but I’m a scrub he’ll I don’t e an k ow how to perform fire fields etc lol… Have no idea. Just know I seem to kick kitten so I guess it works.

So I tried axe shield and gs which worked ok but overall just wasn’t good enough vs most classes. Gs and lb was very fun however, again not really as good as other classes but I still found it extremely fun to play, was enjoyable

Have noticed I only really enjoy engi, necro and warrior these days, seem to find engi rampage works a lot nicer than my warriors though hahahaha.

So seems gs lb is working best for me so far

So what’s an example of executing it? Pop the field then spam dmg inside it to pop buffs or?

So solo queue is lb/xx or gs/xx whichever works. Qq aside I have a stupid question to ask.
Wtf is a fire field and/or a combo? I’ve noticed skills have combo finisher: blast or whatever in the tool tip… Why? I’ve never asked this or looked into this before

So lb and sw/sw or gs/rifle… Hmmm… I guess I can try these out. Just get bored playing gs/hammer every game which sucks as I love my warrior.

Oh so I don’t want to go lb/gs for pvp it’s more ideal doing gs/swordshield or maceshield or shoutbow to an extent I guess…?

I’m torn. I love lb and gs lol… I miss shoutbow that playstyle was incredibly enjoyable.

I’ve no idea what to try I guess my only option really is swordshield and gs. Unless there’s a solid lb build out there?

What is the norm to run lately for any sort of success in solo queue?

Wvw it definitely sounds worth it, can swap between rifle and lb. I imagine in Spvp itd be fine if I grab zerker, balance and endure pain with banner or rampage… He’ll might even try using signet lol

Greatsword and Longbow seems like a strong option to try and play with…

Is that the greatbow build on metabattle? I’d love to try it as 2. Slow weapons is well… Slow.

Thanks for that. So what build would you suggest for a solo queue? Gs hammer is getting a little boring and slow. What else should I try? Had a look at threads but saw nothing worthwhile

Having a look around it seems gs bow and vs mace shield would be nicer than gs hammer??

What’s better than gs hammer for solo queue??

Is this the only viable build we have? I solo queue often and only play necromancer and warrior these days so would love a few builds on each class to make it enjoyable each time I play…

Any builds we have? Greatbow, shoutbow, they still viable? Any others?

Is gs/hammer the only viable build for solo queue? I mainly play my necro now as I’m trying to main it and get awesome on it and decided I’ll rock my warrior as my main alt class. But I can see gs/hammer getting tedious after awhile… What other builds work?

Ele is top still. I only play my necro however it’s the most fun class to suit my style and I love it along with my warrior. Necro ftw!

I personally find the Ele playstyle annoying and tedious. I did really enjoy it but now just find it quite irritating lol. Love necro and warrior

Not that wow was ever hard but I only played sub rogue there got glad a few season here and there so I guess I’m ok at picking fights etc. Obv diff mechanics to gw2 but I guess the general outline is there. Again I have my bruiser classes already so this would be a nice alternative if I feel like queuing and being a general POS to people win or lose lol. ill create one and mess around with it.

Thief sounds like a playstyle i haven’t got covered on my other classes so I’ll give that a go. I’ve got the ele, bunker guard etc for the other roles. So having a thief could be fun to try out if I’m bored of brute forcing everything. So it’s basically a scavenger. Run around capping nodes that people cap and leave, stealth until someone’s low in a teamfight, pop them off , restealth and run around recapping etc again? Actually sounds like something I’d love to play. Always been a sub rogue in wow since launch so that’s all I did in wow PvP. Interesting…

Double post. Seems like I’m better sticking with my roster and ignoring thief/ranger hahaha… I rotate often between my warrior, Dd Ele, bunker guard and signet necro atm. Those are my top classes

Mentioned thief coz of how kitten they performed in wts haha. Quite a few seem to dislike both then lol

Got 1 slot open, that’s for a ranger or a thief (no ty Mesmer) not sure which is gonna be worthwhile going for solo queuing etc. I love my hyper gameplay etc and like storming around wrecking stragglers or sniping nodes. I’ve only played bearbow and loved it, have only played thief a little and didn’t try and learn it all too much.

Pros and cons for either? I quite like build versatility aswell, nice having a few viable builds and being able to do wvw, pve and pvp nicely

I’m definitely leaning more towards Necro. Mesmer seems like a 1 build pony and can see it getting boring fast. Necro seems to have a few viable builds. Won’t be used for pve much so not really bothered about that.

Just a quick question really as am undecided on these 2 and have 1 slot left on my account without buying further…

What you guys think is an overall happy medium for all aspects of the game? Necro or Mesmer?

Never really thought ROM was that good.

Just tend to land a hammer 5, juke a blinding then hammer f1 into blinding geegee but that’s vs average lol.

I wouldn’t say I die to mesmers often, I usually survive until a teammate turns up then it’s a case of LoSIng and lockdown lol.

I can see how blink is annoying. Perhaps we need a “Leap” to get to these high places also.

What build is that sniper one…? Tbh I don’t find Mesmer fun at all so I deleted it and made a necro, which is more enjoyable. I only liked vs/staff on Mesmer wasn’t a fan of sword build… Do love my warrior the most, in pve also I enjoy it and in wvw. It’s very versatile imo. Mesmer I find I play the same build almost across the board. Ele varies very slightly but not by much. Engi is tweaked a little here and there and my necro is almost the same

I see so its not that warrior is bad it’s just that Ele and Mesmer are better.

Well I still have a blast with it and enjoy it over my other classes so I’ll continue to rock the rampage for a while longer

I don’t see the problem with the majority saying Warriors are bottom tier :/ maybe it’s because I get lucky with my queues but I went 9 wins 1 loss today and I was top in my team for 7 of them. Rampage… I didn’t even notice the nerf. I was still able to wreck entire teams mid-fight after dragging them low health. Hell I love my warrior even more now the fanboys have stopped playing it due to thenerf lol I saw 2 other warriors in 10 games, was lovely.

Only downside is I can’t make a viable rifle or axe build, now that’d be fun!

Got all day Friday to mess with builds I’ll finish up on Ele and warr and try some builds out on engi.

That’s awesome ^. I’m logging on Friday to play some. I’m sticking with my warrior and Ele as I thorougghly enjoy both. Engi and necro I’m very much undecided. As I said I play both PvP pve and wvw on my classes and I’ve seen necro is low tier in pve but high tier in PvP and looks very etertaoning with minion master and cele signet. Engi however seems solid all across the board with the only downside being the rotation looks like a major clusterkitten.

Also you mention blast finishers to give Boons etc… I’ve no idea what any of this means, how it works or how to find out the rotations LOL.

All In all I’m ele and warrior then need to try figure out engi or necro…

Fair play if he did well vs those guys haha. I’ll try engi definitely, it seems legit as pve and pvp so I’ll try it LOL

So with Ele dd out the picture completely, engi would be a top tier class again, but as it stands Ele just does it all better. Well I can live with that considering I main Ele and warr. So I’m game for a bit of engi love in solo queue. I’m still going to try out necro and then ill compare the 2.

50/50 over necro and engi. Seems engi has fun builds them necro also with mm etc.

I really do enjoy playing gs/hammer warrior, Dd ele (ok it’s op) and things like rifle warrior n kitten. I like warrior as its pretty kitten tanky… I just like classes I can dart around like I have add and snipe people off or rock 1-2 people in a teamfight before I go down. Always played a sub rogue in wow for example and a ww monk. Hyper strong snipe classesw. Though I’m not a fan of thief at all hahaha.

Not 100% on necro but I’ll try it. Atm my top 2 are warr and ele, I wvw and pve a lot also so baring this in mind.

Ok necro I will definitely try out for solo queue I’ll pass the engi for now. So, since you main a necro, whether this goes to pm or here, got any tips and tricks for a newbie like me? And race wise is asura still the nicest looking for necro?

I have to admit I’ve never even attempted a necro. What makes them top tier? And is that versus certain opponents or in general? Like for solo queue for etc.

Trap ranger could be worth a look at also… Ill take a dive into power engi and trap ranger and perhaps necro. Which one of these seems the safest for a constant solo queue? Sorry for the dumb questions btw lol

Hahaha fair enough so if I’m not competing in tournies I can ideally get along fine on anything. Well I do love gs hammer warrior and I enjoy dd ele a lot also. Ill try out engi and if it’s still not to my liking I’ll just focus back on warrior and ele. Seems a win win situation eh.

Hmm alright so engi is still good but it’s not as ideal as Ele and warr ofc. I mean is the difference over engi and warrior huge? Everyone seems to think warrior is dirt poor now but I still enjoy it.

Sounds good. I will have to try and play it again and get good with it, seems strong when I see it in PvP. My warrior is great socks my Ele but I like my ebgi just benched it for awhile haha. Not sure how it would perform in pve either
