Ah yes I’ve heard daredevils are great if you can predict the dodges. What is it that makes condi reaper so good? Afaik the damage isn’t great and you rely on the pets to tak? I could be wildly wrong here. I struggled soloing an elite in heart of maguuma hahaha

What builds seem viable/meta for soloing dungeons/champs etc? I’ve tried necro and engi and am either playing it wrong with the wrong build or just suck as I get trucked instantly90% of the time.

Is it literally engi and necro condi > rest?

I truly suck at scrapper as I got wrecked all morning playing it though I was constantly getting jumped by a 2nd. I have a ton of fun on condi rev and find shoutbow druid can 1v1 majority of classes. I certainly don’t struggle much vs mesmer or scrapper (but they are extremely annoying)

I know this is going offtopic but it’s a fairly ok comparison and its the last class I have at 80.

Solo dungeons like fractals/bosses- meta/great/good?
PvP I assume is meta as every team seems to run one and wvw run 4 according to metabattle.

In general play is a rev highly wanted and is it a strong class overall?

Yeah it’s close as they’re both very enjoyable… I loved engi as my first main, I did drop it before hot came out as I was having more fun on necro and warrior however now am getting fairly tired of those. That was a big question I had. Survivability wise, ele I know is squishy.. how IS engi? I’ve seen engi solo all sorts like 100 mai etc… So looks legit. For things like general elites and champs in hot zones etc

I normally make long posts but this one will be sweet. Just need a nudge as highly unsure on these 2. Have been testing classes all week and they’re both equal but cba playing both.

Solo PvE- Pros and Cons for both?
PvP- I’m ok with this, both are fun.
Raids- assuming Ele is dps king and engi is mid table somewhere.
WvW- have seen what they can do here so am ok with this part also.

Any general insight greatly welcome. With ele I prefer d/wh and s/wh over staff but would play either. Engi was my original main but haven’t touched it in awhile.

I have 1 of each at 80 and swap around whenever I get bored of the current main. For example lately I’m queuing staff daredevil… Mmm… Vault….

decided to main my thief as my #1 DPS class (it’s just awesome) but haven’t really looked into playing or setting up a buffer/support class. I love SPvP SoloQ and love WvW, General PvE Content and SOMETIMES I’ll do Fractals, though I’m a solo casual so finding a group is hard. I currently only play Thief/Druid and very rarely Warrior… so am looking into a fun mobile class with some variety and a fun playstyle! I LOVED Mesmer pre-HoT but haven’t looked into it much since; I do find it incredibly frustrating playing vs them ingame however… so it’s making me want to try one to see what all the fuss is about. So… obvious questions! How are Mesmers/Chronomancers in PvP, PvE, WvW etc? Are they top tier/in-demand? I assume our playstyle is more of a buffer than a DPSer, which is fine as my Daredevil does enough DPS to satisfy my needs 10 fold. Any tips/tricks for playing a Chrono? For general PvE what seems to be the best setup to play with? (it’s not on Metabattle so have to ask here!)

I forget how easy this game is to multi class sometimes. Though I’d like a class with full ascendancy gear, I don’t think itll happen as I swap too much :P could possibly see me doing it on a phalanx warrior or tempest/thief perhaps.

Warrior is fun, I played around with macebow alternatives and then yeah rifle/gs is hilarious on some maps. I’m still between tempest and thief as my main however, but at the moment I’m Just having a blast playing whatever. Druid is my love but I doubt I’ll ever ascendance gear it, just isn’t that much in demand vs ps warr, tempest or zerker staff so seems pointless gearing it properly. Will have to practise on thief and unlock staff fully then go onto tempest and do the same.

I definitely seem to find condi builds are a lot more faceroll in general pve. My condi ranger is so strong vs my power and my condi warr kills so much faster than my ps. Thief even without any daredevil traits is pretty mucky also haha.

Tempest Fresh Air and Daredevil Staff.

How do these 2 compare for SoloQ/Solo PvE, Content/Fractals?

I understand both have very high DPS… Are they even in that sense?

do they both have very high Burst with good aoe/sustain?

Not a fan of Ele Staff at all so would only really play Fresh Air Specs..

I’d PROBABLY run Marauder for both just for that little bit extra defense…

Pro’s / Con’s for Daredevil Staff and Tempest Fresh Air in General PvE?

Also curious how Necro would perform vs these 2? Does it get outshined via the difference in dps? I know daredevol is an evade God for soloing but what about reaper and tempest?

I’ll admit it’s hilarious how fast I can drop the entire pack of mobs in Foefire with my Condi Warrior. Though I hate how slow he is as I don’t have any speed traits…. Any bros know a way around this?

I’ve done a fair amount of testing today and have come up with some classes/specs I’ll definitely continue with.

Whilst doing some sPvP I had an insane amount of fun playing Auramancer Tempest, Shoutbow Druid and Macebow Warrior but tweaked LB to GS and Carrion + Leadership… Crazy amounts of fun. Never lost a 1v1 and had occasions where I held 1v2 or 1v3 etc .. so those 3 are definitely sticking with me.

PvE wise I’m levelling my ranger atm who is lvl 49. I tried lb/gs but I just seem to find axe/torch and sb so much easier/stronger to play with.. Condi seems to faceroll levelling…

Speaking of condi I retried my power warrior but didn’t like it much went back to Condi and the burst damage is just insane… I wrecked champions extremely fast.

I miss my Necro.. I have him at 80, he was my first class to 80 and to finish the elite. I just haven’t played him in awhile.. I’m not a huge fan of the condi pve build and I see their dps on comparisons et c and just feel it’s a little lackluster…

PvE- I’d like to have a main for solo/grouping but I’m struggling to decide between the ranger, warrior and tempest.. once I get back to trying my necro then he could be a contender also… I guess I should just play whatever’s fun if they’re all geared!! My hero points are account bound right?

Definitely for now #1 pvp is my shoutbow druid and macebow warrior.

PvE so far #1 I enjoy my ranger and will do more once he’s druid for that healing. Need to start taming some pets as just using a drake isn’t much fun!! Just cant be bothered relvling my ele hahaha… I’ll have to give my necro another shot

So I’ve tried Warrior, Engineer and Tempest out…

Warrior – I do love it; however I’m not a huge fan on the power build.. I just don’t think it’s as great for general pve content as the condi version… condi seems to melt everything whereas power is a bit “ehhhh… 100b, auto attack till 100b again”

Engineer – Really can’t get into using 5000 kits… power scrapper is quite fun but It’s not really my style.

Tempest – Hated staff pve dps.. so boring… fresh air however was extremely fun and felt very powerful. Haven’t tried Auramancer for PvP but will do.

Currently continuing to level my Ranger which is currently level 47 and am enjoying the hell out of it. Levelling with condi gear and axe/torch + shortbow is extremely fun. Going into PvP as Shoutbow is also extremely fun. I seem to dominate every 1v1 and win majority of games.

So far Druid is my #1 for sure… Then I’m undecided on possible Tempest or Warrior as an alt… Just off to try daredevil staff for a bit as that’s the class I power levelled

Update: Thief is extremely fun, just worried it’ll be really squishy for solo when i fully unlock daredevil.

What did you guys think was the biggest PITA class/combo where your entered a game and went “fml, here we go…”

That’s music to my ears!! I’ll bank my Condi gear and grab my zerker set and go have some fun! Also think I’ll give gs/axeshield a shot in spvp/wvw as I miss being a heavy hitting tank. Been playing my druid far too long! Will give this a shot and see how much fun I can have!

Only thing I regret is making a male norn warrior now that I have those white wings which I LOVE! I can just imagine how awesome it’d be as an asura with a greatsword rifle and wings!!

I suppose you’re right guys; sometimes I get a bit too caught up on DPS rather than general survival etc…

Before my long break my main was my warrior. I loved the condi build, the damage is ridiculous for solo, I’ve yet to go and try out zerker power phalanx though perhaps I should try that. I think of the 3 I mentioned I’d be more happy with staff daredevil or d/wh tempest. But again I’ll just create some newbs and mess around with tokens in spvp… See which I prefer playstyle wise…

Because I love being ranged due to being a lazy sob. If I run my phalanx warrior for general pve is there much loss if I run gs/rifle? Just so I can pewpew from a distance when bored of swinging swords.

Having a bit of a struggle trying to decide on which Class I want to focus my attention on…
I currently play my Druid/Ranger which I’m enjoying 110% however gets boring after a few hours so I need a 2nd class to keep my attention.

I know Druid isnt the best DPS wise but it’s reliable and safe so I enjoy it in that extent.
For my 2nd class I’m extremely undecided between Engineer/Elementalist and Thief.

[B]Engineer -[/B] Love Power Scrapper for SPvP and WvW, it’s incredibly fun to play, however the thought of having to play a 4 or 5 kit condi build for PvE to be viable terrifies me (just sounds like a headache)

[B]Elementalist – [/B]Not a huge fan of the Staff style however D/WH looks very fun, the Tempest Auramancer build is also incredibly fun in SPvP/WvW.

[B]Thief -[/B] I’m not too sure on Thief. I used my boost on it. It’s very mobile which I love, but the rotation seems to be Staff auto attack… which is great (very powerful) but I’m just not sure I can get into the general jist of it.

What I look to do in general: Solo PvE content, Fractals (If I can get in), SPvP and WvW Roaming.
I don’t play enough to warrant Raiding so majority of what I do is going to be purely Solo.

So, guys, any insight? I don’t want to spend hours upon hours grinding the Elites for the build to just be meh at the end.

I know DPS wise Thief is 2nd after Ele with Engi being 3rd/4th so I know all 3 are strong choices DPS wise. How are they all survival/mobility wise?

I love Scrapper but I’m scared of the Engi meta PvE build it looks a bit like a cluster f… Thief and Ele look very much more relaxed/bareable however…

Just back from a fairly long break! Couldn’t resist the urge to log back on anymore so have reinstalled and logged in! So I spent my free boost on a Thief, though it’s not really my style so that was a waste.

My old “mains” were rev/war/guard. Rev is a no no now. I’m heavily stuck over my warrior and my guardian.

Builds I’ve considered are macebow or gs/a+sh and meditrapper/bunker for spvp/wvw. Then either condi or phalanx vs gs+macefocus(though for general I’d take a scepter)

How close are these builds in terms of “meta” and in pve how close are they in terms of dps?

Warrior is currently condi though I miss zerker 100b(omg the damage…!!) I’d be going PS Power on warrior or GS/ScepterFocus on Guard for general world pve. Again for pvp I’d go either of those 4.

Any suggestions?

I’ll definitely give that a shot! Currently level 38 and can’t log on for another 10 days due to work. Can get to 80 easy via crafting, will get tailoring to 500 asap so I can start on ascended assassin’s gear when I ding. Atleast make full exotic anyway.

On my tempest and chrono solo queue I’ve gone win, loss x4, win x7, loss x2, win x9

Easy to play classes that are meta tier: condi warr, power revenant.
Support classes that are meta tier: chrono, druid
Hard to play: tempest, condi engi.

FYi I’ve played condi warr and power rev, both are insanely strong but the simplicity gets boring so fast so I’ve rerolled to chronomancer for a dps/support style of play and it’s ALOT more enjoyable!

Come to the forums to check out threads and all I see is revenant qq, probably from guys who keep dying to revs with No idea how to play one. Go make a rev and learn how to play it then go back to your class and you’ll find it’s a hella lot easier. I personally play tempest, chrono and condi reaper and all 3 have no problems at all vs revenant.

Thanks guys I’ll start levelling it asap. I’m struggling on which race would look at the moment though hahaha, got an acccount full of asura with 1 Norn and 1 human! But yeah my only concern was not being able to handle solo content and being purely a group class but sounds like we are good either way. I want the complicated olaystyle also as warrior and revenant are something you can play with 1 finger lol

I’m not too bothered about crazy damage, if I want that I’ll jump on warrior or revenant. I am looking for a fun and active plqystyle however, meaner seems it definitely. It was chrono or tempest and tempest seems a little squishy for my likings. So as long as I can solo stuff, I’m more than happy to try it.

So build wise for your open world one, what armour set, rune and stat selections would I want? I’m going to try this tomorrow though I don’t have a mesmer at 80 yet just want that fun addictive playstyle that keeps me hooked

Im not using F5 very often in open pve coz encounters are not long enough to summon 3 illusions to be able to pull off full combo. In open pve I use it from time to time (without illusions) to pop out timewarp on champions.

When in dungeons/raid, Im pulling full combo (varies with party compositions – some parties benefit more from alacrity some from quickness).

When alacrity needed:
WoA -> F5 (before cast of WoA completes) -> TW -> Mimic -> WoR -> WoE -> WoR -> ToT -> F5 should end about now -> ToT -> Mimic -> WoR -> WoA -> WoR -> WoE

When quickness needed:
WoR -> F5 (before cast of WoR completes) -> TW -> Mimic -> WoA -> WoE -> WoA -> ToT -> F5 should end about now -> ToT -> Mimic -> WoA -> WoR -> WoA -> WoE

These rotations work well with chaos trait line coz u can reduce CD on Mimic to be almost the same as F5 -> so u can cast it after CS again without having to wait for it till next CS combo.

You are aiming for using ToT second time BEFORE the 1st ToT comes back to you, so you benefit from the 10s cd reduction twice.

If you dont want to be that much supportive that u dont use chaos line, just dont use mimic after cs ends so u dont have to w8 for it (just cast all wells but no mimic).

Dunno if the rotations are optimal, but thats the most I could include in one CS. You can also pop all other shatters during well casting for free in CS -> more alacrity for yourselve (thus not needed really, but its also more dmg and more boons when using chaos trait line)

You can just run around with GS and cast its 4 and eventually F1.
When the encounter is longer u can cast 4 and 2 -> F1 -> 4 -> 2 -> F1 -> 4 -> 2 -> 1 etc and do wells from time to time

Onn support builds u basicly want to have at least 50% boon duration yourselve, another 50% comes from Herald which you will meet in most parties using Chrono.

Focus is better than pistol coz the phantasm applies conditions from ie. fire fields and other fields more effectively, and it also offers more utility with pulls and projectile absorbtion.

This sounds like a very busy rotation here Jacob, just out of curiosity, do you enjoy it and does it work well? If I compare it to my zerker condi and rev power. Rev I auto attack to kill mobs. Warr I prress 4 buttons and laugh at 18k burn ticks. Does chrono feel like it’s worth it’s rotations and playstyle?

So I’m playing condi warrior currently but it’s getting fairly boring so I need another fun alternative to play and gear up. my decisions are tempest or chronomancer. Just curious how you guys think chrono is, what we offer and also how well we perform in solo mode ie. Events, veterans, champs etc…

Thinking sword/sword and sword/shield with gs and staff as alternatives.

So which builds, stats etc are best?

Maybe it’s due to the classes I play but I find trap spamming dh laughable. I’m league solo queueing on my tempest aura and my condi revenant. life’s good Mayne. I still have to try out chronomancer however I’ll give that a go tomorrow

I’d imagine Blink and Greatsword would be ideal forgo getting to mobs and hitting them with that 1200 range GS AA. I personally am going to try sword/shield and greatsword

I’ve got to be honest after only playing warrior and revenant chronomancer and tempest sound like an enjoyable experience. So, how good are they in pve solo? I’m aware of how good they are in PvP.

What’s the legendary look like? How do I find it, in the achievements tab?

Yeah I’m going to try some chrono bunker and mainly some tempest aura, looks fun. Zerker and condi get boring fast and everyone runs them.

Been pveing the this past month so haven’t pvped. I rock revenant, chronomancer and necromancer. Which one do I stand a better chance of winning with? Assuming I’m getting decent groups ofcourse. Revs squishy so I can’t see it being great for soloQ, necro or chrono shatter/bunker? Got my tempest also but haven’t touched him in awhile.

All I’ve done since launch is play power revenant after dropping the warrior at the start of expo. Back to warrior, picked up full exotic viper gear with the required smaller items and wow oh wow. It may be a little squishy at times but this playstyle is right up my alley! I’m talking about the berserker condi build ofcourse.

Kinda thought when I played my revenant that nothing could be anymore fun or stronger. I’ve only my required help for a very few champions so far on this warrior. solod majority like arrowhead for example. Can imagine how this reacts with ascended gear as can currently get 11-12k burning ticks.

Also in spvp it works great, just have to be careful and pick fights, spec accordingly at start of the game also. I went 9 wins to 1 loss today. Wvw is well. It’s wvw. Solo veterans with ease, even took our a veteran, thief and mesmer at the same time.

Obviously this isn’t op/meta but it atleast makes warrior enjoyable again for myself.

I rerolled from warr to rev in hot and have from today come back to my warrior. For a start the actual playstyle is a lot more fun and holy kitten the dps is good! I’m only a power warr atm but I already feel much stronger than my rev, can kill champs/veterans faster anyway. Currently gearing for the condi setup as I love longbow so that’s going to be even nicer.

Yeah I haven’t even started this yet. I’ve bought all the recipes but my weaponsmith armorsmith and huntsmen is 1… Literally gonna spend all day Monday finishing hot story, fully unlocking zerker then maxing crafts to try this build. It looks awesome, though I’m not exactly struggling on my power set so far, warrior seems to shred through pve, love it.

Which part of the personal story for this gear as none of my toons have even finished the lvl 50 version lok

So how easy or difficult is it to get all this gear? I’m pretty much going to ditch my revenant for condi warrior. I love love love longbow warrior in PvP and the fact that it’s viable in pve is music to my ears.

So what do I need for all this gear? 500 weapon and armorsmithing? Where do I get the recipes to make the gear and what’s the rough gold cost to make it all?

Will I survive fine as power zerker till I gear up?

I’ll have a look into this when I’m home thank you. So I need to grind all the gear via crafting, honestly is it worth it? Haha. the build does look very enjoyable. How do I go about getting that amulet? And what gear should I go viper vs what else in other slots? Or does this link have it all?

Limited on gold thus far I’d rather have 1 set for now think ill grab the vipers condi gear for now and grab power later. We doing alright in Ye olds pve still yeah? Rev gets boring lol

I’m trying my old Warrior out again as they seem to still look fun in pve, that and I’m a condi fanboy and it seems we’re doing good?!

So for general HoT content farming, soloing etc, what build and weapons should so be running? And what is the better condi build these days? Is the power vs condi situation a huge gap or?
