Condi class for raids

Condi Engis are the bomb, and come in 2 distinct very good varieties, full condi (full kit build) and Burn (less kits, specifically focused on burning).

I personally prefer the burn one, problem with full condi engi is that by the time your conditions applied via rotating all the kits actually do some decent damage, many small targets are already dead. Whereas burn engis are more to the point and while may do a bit less on paper and in theorycrafting, they actually do far more in practical application due to not wasting so much time kit swapping.

By default they are also more flexible then the general condi engis and have more space for things other then kits.

How does the burn engi gear/build differ from full condi engr? I find myself struggling with getting actual DPS anywhere near the theoretical for full condi because of all the switching. I’d be very interested in a simpler burn version.

Focus on burn duration not Condi duration. Your rotation is burn focussed ignoring poison unless everything is on CD. You use FT much more as a burn engineer

Condi class for raids

In my opinion, there’s no point in playing condi ele over power ele. Condi ele’s damage is reliant on several hard-to-meet criteria, and is much more burst-y than the other condi builds. Because the condi ele fields are so small/thin, it’s hard to guarantee that the boss will stand in them (other than Sab, who doesn’t move). Not to mention that power ele brings much more general utility (in the form of lava fonts clearing orbs, cleaving ads, etc) with much more consistent dps, it seems like the better choice over condi ele. (Ele’s also have a really hard time running green circles in VG which a lot of groups assign their condi players to run. Replacing an ele in this group could mean a significant dps loss for a power player who needs to be consistently near the boss to continue dps. Then again, VG isn’t actually that hard to that may not be a problem.)

The way I see it, it seems like the two most popular condi classes are war and engi, though I’d actually say the condi classes that are good in the largest number of fights are reaper and engi. While reaper’s condi dps may be slightly (and only slightly) below war and engi, they can bring other utility (epidemic mostly XD) that’s quite useful on both the Gorseval and Sabetha fights. I’d argue they also out-perform condi warriors on VG as the hitbox is much smaller and the boss moves a lot more.

The only time I’ve seen condi ranger (and this is not often) is in druid as the group’s healer and using the condi damage for some dps. Zerker or Zelot’s druid seems to be much more popular currently though (for good reason – you get much more damage from druid staff with zerker gear). I wouldn’t rely on condi druid being at all desired in the future.

Exactly right. Engi is the best Condi class Necro (Reaper) is the 2nd. Even on Gor (the encounter best suited to Burnzerker) you’ll want Necros for epidemic. Every other encounter I’d take Engi then Necro then War in that order.

Less stuff to do than before the expansion

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Aidenwolf.5964

Aidenwolf.5964

Hello,

Before the expansion hit i mainly used to do fractals and sometimes dungeons. With the launch of the expansion you basically killed both of them. Fractals are incredibly boring now because you can just brainafk spam 1 and succeed since the enemies don’t hit hard anymore. Also due to the removing of the random fractals, everyone is just rolling swamp and other short fractals all day long.

As a fractal focused player I’m a bit insulted. I can tell you clearly weren’t a frequenter of fractals based on your comments.

a) People rolled swamp constantly pre-HoT. That’s not new. That’s what everyone did. Path of least resistance. This isn’t new for HoT, GW2, or MMOs in general.

b) You need to do specific fractals now for achievements. You can’t just do swamp. It gets you nowhere. The people only rolling swamp or molten boss are the ones trying to do the 3-fractal dailies. You can do that, or I dunno, post your own LFG? I post random fractals all the time (legendary backpiece sends you to specific ones, plus there are still some I need to complete for the main achievements). My groups typically fill up and in the fractal within 5min. If there’s a fractal you want to do, make a group and go do it. No one is stopping you. If you don’t see a fractal you want to join, just create your own.

c) Fractals under 50 were basically made easier. If you did fractals regularly you should have certainly been at 50 already and if you are looking for actual challenge, spend your time doing the 50+ fractals. Unless you want me to believe you have 150AR, have cleared through 100, and still believe spamming 1 gets you through it. I would never believe this, btw.

d) Fractals have improved across the board with HoT. They take less time commitment, give better rewards, and now there is a nice legendary backpiece to work towards over the long term.

Sorry for wall, I just love doing fractals haha. I think it’s one area they got right with HoT.

You just went off the rails. Rewards are certainly not better. If you dispute that GG.

Condi class for raids

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Aidenwolf.5964

Aidenwolf.5964

I just can’t see condi herald being a thing due to the main prominence of Conusion + Torment which are situational conditions.

Boss stuck in place and not moving around? There goes Torment potential.

Slow boss attacks or gets blocked, you evade etc? There goes Confusion potential.

Not saying it’s full on moot but agreed with others – would be nice & interesting to see the outcome of your research. Good luck with it.

I don’t believe condition Herald is viable in raids. We don’t have DPS meters so results are down to observation and the timer. While torment I believe is viable in raids (at least this wing) applying enough torment to justify losing a burn or poison Condi class is an issue. Condi Herald and 2 Necros with epidemic was the idea on paper, but a burn Engi lit that paper on fire.

I wouldn’t say Condi Herald can’t be a thing, I would say it won’t be in raids though.

Guild Halls, Scribing, and Anet Logic

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Aidenwolf.5964

Black Desert is irrelevant, it’s almost upon us and less than 5% of the player base has even heard of it. Now if it’s GREAT, not good, but great it has a chance of stealing away some players. When Legion drops NEXT fall, is about the time I expect anet to announce the next expac. It’s just a good business tactic.

Which would be when I hopped off the hype train. This “xpac” took away what I enjoyed and ruined the features I was most excited for. I have not touched pre crafting and won’t and the guild hall is a massive gold sink. They removed gold from dungeons, failed to make a single new dungeon or fractal for a paid expansion. They added a handful of new armors but had loads ready for the gem store. They also went FTP which I as a consumer will never forgive.

Great post OP.

How S/D is NOT better than D/D for offense?

For ages now, everyone always says use D/D, use D/D its best. I just don’t see it. I feel like S/D is the best combo for offensive? you get range, mobility, good burst. I just don’t understand the argument that d/d is better.

If its mathematical, please post some math, otherwise? Change My View?

You prefer SD even though it’s not better how am I meant to change your mind exactly? Auto attack on Daggers is MUCH faster and DD you’re right on top of your combo fields as are your enemies / mobs which means burns.

DD > SD but if you had said SF I’d consider that one. but only because there must be a reason to need to be ranged. You should try staff of you hate DD.

Is everybody in the raids so toxic?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Aidenwolf.5964

Aidenwolf.5964

I really don’t want to sound like one of those “Toxic elitists” but if you have no intention of building your character optimally for raids, then you have no place in raids. Simple as that.

I hate raids. Part of the reason I hate them is because what JashuaRAWR said is completely true.

I’m sure you’re a good player, maybe even an impressive one. But right now you’re like a member of the track team that’s suddenly taken a spot in the weight lifting team. You’re not right for it, and you’re going to drag everyone else down.

That’s not to say that the person wasn’t rude, I’m sure they were. But it seems they were also right.

Apart from the “I hate raids” I agree with every word of this. Raiding isn’t for everyone.

Is everybody in the raids so toxic?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Aidenwolf.5964

Aidenwolf.5964

After being trying to do the first boss for one hour or so, i’ve met the first toxic player. The problem you have to use teamspeak and you have to listen it.

I run heal druid, and i clarify that at the beginning but then he complain about i heal too much.
Then i have too much toughness.
Then complained about an engie.
Then about the people getting killed or teleported when it was in the green circles…
Then he was raging like a monkey when we got wiped out and he said and i quote I’ve done this thousands of times
Then i left, i couldn’t stand it anymore.

Is there many people like these? I don’t run dungeons or fractals for the same reason, i don’t play to have to listen this kind of insulting and toxic players..

You did the most unpardonable offending here, Anduriell. You played a character that was suitable for the role, but not optimal. And as every raider and elitist(not necessarily any of the people commenting about this right now) knows that if it is not the absolute best, it is garbage and useless and the raid failing is entirely your fault while all others took their build from battlegeek or some other, approved place. And so they can rest easily despite falling left and right, facetanking or for whatever stupid reason they chipped in for your raid to fail.^^

Yeah.. i guess i should get my build the DNT quality certification and Metabattle seal of approval before posting this things here…
You know so i could say it wasn’t my fault my build is certificated and approved.

You ran barkskin in a raid why exactly? You’re mocking builds that are made for raiding now though which seems strange to me.

Your post asks about toxic players but you’re talking like you meant why can’t I run soldier’s as a healer and why are you all yelling at me?

Raids are absolutely meant to be run in optimal gear, with the best builds, and by a good (at least) team composition. I did ask above why you had barkskin on your Druid in a raid I think you might want to ask around for a good build, or use one of the sites you just mocked since other players have been kind enough to do the work for you.

Upcoming Fractal Changes

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Aidenwolf.5964

Aidenwolf.5964

I disagree with having to buy an item to get a reward. That’s not a reward. It’s a thinly veiled gold sink. I also disagree with hiding core game content(high end fractals and their rewards) that was supposed to come out two years ago in the “Fractured Update” behind the HoT paywall. I shouldn’t need HoT masteries to do core GW2 content.

Fractals aren’t HoT content. If you added new HoT themed Fractals, that would be one thing. You didn’t. You took old content and put rewards behind HoT’s mastery system. That needs to change. Fractals and their rewards should all remain as core features seeing as they are core GW2 content.

I can’t help but agree with this. No new fractals added for HoT. No Maguma based items or even Maguma mastery…even from the new 51-100 fractal levels. No Maguma mob types or Maguma themed fractals. None of the new stat combos dropping…exotic or ascended. Completely not HoT content in regards to fractals. I would change my opinion on this completely if all these things were not true though.

I also agree 100% about it being wrong to make us pay to receive rewards from content. There is literally no reason for the encryption keys to exist other than a contrived gold sink. The encryption boxes should be unlocked by default. We already have black lion chests for gold/gem sinks.

Couldn’t agree more. Why they added this in the first place is beyond me. Who actually stood up and said “hey I’ve got a great idea” and then pitched this nonsense. These boxes are the reward for doing the fractal and they thought making a player pay to open them was a good idea? Just backwards thinking and part of the best example of how this game has gone off track.

Condi class for raids

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Aidenwolf.5964

Aidenwolf.5964

I have a full Ascended Condi engineer it’s great and is the top Condi class but…

For Gor your raid group is going to want Burnzerkers as they’re incredible on the fight. They’re easily 2nd in Vale although you won’t want many.

I would look at it this way, engi or warrior are both A+ to A choices but also look at what the other heavies can do in Condi. You’re right to mention Ranger B to B- although I’m never running Ranger Condi over an Engi, ever. Also Condi thief has no seat at the table. My ratings of the Condi classes for raids would be.

A+ Engineer
A Warrior (except in Gor when it’s A+)

B Necro (except Gor when it’s A- to B+)
B Ele
B- Ranger (unless your comp needs spotter / spirit B )

Burnzerker < Engineer + Ranger

But it’s close enough to come down to your preference. In my raid group we NEED Condi heavies and are gearing them but your group may need medium.

Difficulty in pulling off the max DPS engineer rotation should settle your issue nicely. If you’re new to Engi you will likely not out DPS a burn warrior so there you have it.

If you’re new to ENGI go for Warrior. Its easy to pump out ridiculous burn stacks on a Burnzerker.

Bring back gold in dungeons!

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Aidenwolf.5964

Aidenwolf.5964

This will fall on deaf ears, they will never go back on there plans now, dungeons are done, id expect to see more and more removed from them over the coming months, the problem here is they removed the rewards but didn’t actually put them anywhere else,

They are pushing ahead with raids/fractals to replace dungeons, end of story, sadly the only people this will hurt in the long run are people who want dungeon master or a certain armor/ gift from that dungeon for a legendary, as in the next 2 or 3 months no one will be running any of the dungeons, and new players may find it fairly difficult to get what they need, unless they join a guild whom they can ask.

Exactly right in my opinion. They tried to test the levels of scarcity players were willing to accept. I’m not having it and good luck to Anet un – kittening their work.

Bring back gold in dungeons!

Keep the current rewards as is.

Add in dungeon vanquishing, as a selectable route (alternative to explorable) that makes you clear all paths and mobs before being rewarded would give gold relative to the scale of the dungeon ex AC vanquish 1.5g with a full Arah being around 10g.

Which part of direct gold rewards causing inflation do people not understand?

Arenanet don’t want high amounts of gold to enter the game. Also all this would lead to, ocne again, is a small fraction of the playerbase speedclearing the dungeons while the rest are forced into long dungeon runs.

Then why are they increasing liquid rewards from fractals? They don’t wanna add gold to dungeons because they don’t want ppl to play them. That’s the only reason, not this “economy” bs excuse.

They’re putting gold back into the game because people are unhappy and unhappy people don’t buy fluff with gems. I’m not disagreeing with you at all but this new Anet only make changes that boost gem sales and that’s sad.

Dungeon gold was removed and was stated to have been put into fractals which it wasn’t. I prefer gold from dungeons over silverwastes farming. Pre HoT I made more gold (not mats) in core GW2. The game is less rewarding since expansion due to this change.

Is everybody in the raids so toxic?

Aidenwolf.5964

To be fair if you are healing and have no intention of tanking you should NOT have a lot of toughness. You’l grab aggro from the tank. Doesn’t excuse the guy from being a jerk of course.

Actually i wasn’t that tanky and not that healing just good enough to keep everyone in the confi zone (when i was able to because running to the greens and healing everyone is not that easy) , being in medium armor it is impossible to tank. My toughness was 1.8K. He just complained, i think he wanted it to be the tank but with revenant running zerker.

One thing though. Do not use Wilderness Survival trait line The bark skin will make yo a magnet for the boss and actually mostly from any trash mob in PvE, independently from your actual toughness.

Lmao just avoid it then ,
You really want legendary armor that bad??? No, then don’t do it nothing else is worth it :P ,its a waste of time.

actually i like the raids, they are extremely difficult with is a nice change for me. But maybe you are right and i’ll have to do the same as i did with the fractals and dungeons.

Those i tried hard but the community were so toxic i had to stop playing gw2 for months.

Medium armor builds are fully capable of tanking. It’s based entirely on toughness and mitigation.

1800 toughness is high (very high) you might easily have forced the tank to run PTV trinkets which lowers DPS.

On split you stay at your post you don’t run around healing everyone. If you cross into another circle your debuf will hit you with damage.

Why in the name of Rytlock were you using barkskin?

The person may have been a major jerk but that’s not everyone who raids which is your topic. You’ve met an angry player, I suggest learning the encounters with people you like, guildies perhaps.

No, it wasnt relevant. Ascended vs exotic and class vs class are 2 completely unrelated topics, and should not be discussed in the same thread.

Oh wow, now you’re digging through my old posts to have something to say to me? Really tho, it’s not even related lol. How about we stay in 1 thread without digging up unrelated stuff? I never even claimed to have vast knowledge anyways. But at least I do know how to craft ascended armor?

@Hawke what they’re trying to explain to you is that raid comps need class X or style Y and if you’re geared heavy Zerk but not Condi you’re not getting selected for the raid. It happens which is why I have light and medium ready to go.

If the raid needs Condi when you’re Zerk or bar breaking you can’t provide (for example) then you being full ascended is irrelevant to the raid as it’s the wrong style or you’re the wrong class.

I’m very much in favor of ascended raid comps but we’ve made exceptions based on need. We’ve taken a half ascended half exo geared guildy for bar breaking over a full ascended.

I’ve got more trinkets than you’ve got days played sitting in my bank unused as they’re surplus and ascended salvaging isn’t rewarding enough yet.

You can’t have a full ascended character in a month without massive luck or breaking out the plastic.

If you want screenshots I’ll oblige.

Ascended recipes require laurels as do trinkets, materials are gated, the math doesn’t work. Even if you bought the recipes your materials are gated. After leveling crafting with materials in hand as you claim, your mats would be been depleted to zero. I’ve done this as have many many others and I smell BS

Umm…okay? Why are you bragging about your plastic toy pistol and trinkets? Last time I check, I dont really care lol

You say that recipes require laurel? How about you check the TP post first? Not gonna spoil it, but you may or may not see a bunch of ascended recipes up there.

You’re saying the mats are time gated and the math doesnt work? Did you even try doing the math? To make a full set of ascended armor and weapon, you need 6 asc wood, 21 cloth 18 leather and 25 ingots. I’m pretty sure there’s 31 days in a month, am I right or am I right?

You didnt even bother doing the math and you said it doesnt work….RIP math.

You claim a month of playtime to full ascended meaning you had to churn out 25 Dams beginning 5 days after starting the game. 5 days after starting you were a 500 armorsmith and farmed like a demon for a month to get it done, that’s what I doubt.

Well no, not necessarily.

There are quite a few ascended recepies on the TP that do not require laurels.

Same goes for trinkets. Actually laurels here are the less desired method of aquisition (except for amulet).

Rings – better to get via pristine relics. 2 rings take 2-5 days now per ring
Accessoires – guild commendations all the way. 2 weeks per 1 item
Backpiece – can be crafted via the mf (with the current nerf to fractal relic rewards, this might be better than crafting the fractal backpiece)
Amulet – the only slot where laurels excel, but even here there are achievements that can cover you.

That’s not even getting into Living Story season 2, which provides a nearly full set of ascended sinister trinkets and a ascended armor piece of players choice while at the same time providing around 200 gold. 1 month of playtime total is what the OP claims. Even if LS S2 was bought I’m not buying the story.

Calling bull kitten. Full ascended means armor weapons and trinkets. 1 month won’t get you enough laurels to get trinkets but I’ll let that one slide.

No way did you level crafting to 500 on at least 3 crafting professions and craft enough ascended mats to make a full ascended character unless you went gem to gold, or got 2 Dusk drops. Each ascended recipe also requires laurels which means you couldn’t have used those for trikets.

I have 2 Full ascended characters I don’t think you know what that means.

Free to Play…..

The f? Did you not read my previous reply to the other guy?
First of all, you only need 2 crafting. I’m 500 on weaponsmith and armorsmith. Do you really have 2 char with ascended armor? Or is it just bluffing? lol

Oh, and there’s this thing called “gathering”. I spent 20g to level my first profession and 60g for the second with the mats I already have in hand.

And for the armor recipes

It’s pretty simple, just getting to 3k AP give you more than enough laurel for 2 recipes, which I used to buy the weapon and the chest piece.
The rings from fractals, crafted the back from MF, got 2 trinkets from guild missions.

For the rest, I ask one of my friends, and guildies, for some favor and bought the cheapest ascended armor recipes on TP , which is pretty cheap, then I change the stats using the toilet after I crafted the pieces. Which make amulet the only piece I couldnt get when I was f2p, as there are no other way to obtain it without spending 20 laurels.

None of my ascended armors/weapons are from random drop since I’m unlucky af

Dude, read. It’s not that hard and it’s useful to know how.

P/s: you double-posted btw

I’m Full ascended light and medium armor
Full ascended and legendary weapon (Quip)

Ascended and raid.

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Aidenwolf.5964

Before you read on, I’ve played this game for exactly 2 months, and more than half of that time as a f2p player.

Why are people complaining about people asking for ascended only in raid? It is perfectly ok, and reasonable to want ppl in your raid to have ascended gear. Why?

Ascended gear arent that hard to get. I got my full ascended gear (minus amulet cuz no laurel) in just over a month as a f2p player by just doing normal gameplay. I dont flip AH, I dont use gem, I dont specifically farm gold, all I did was running around doin events.

  • Raid isnt normal dungeons or fractal. It is the hardest content in the game, is it too much to ask for people to put in more effort to get in? You cant just sit in LA all day in your exotic doing nothing, then jump into a raid, holding people down, just cuz you like it. People worked for their ascended, why cant you?
  • And no, just because you paid for the xpac doesnt mean other people have to let you into their raid.
  • Sure, the stats improvement arent that much, but it’s better than nothing. Yes, you can do more DPS if you’re good with your rotation, but it’s not something that can be shown on the chat. Doing raid in exotic is like doing fractal at level 79. You can do it easily, as the stat different are under 10%, but are people gonna welcome you? Probably not. If I get to pick between 2 people, equally skilled, but one is in exotic and the other is in ascended, I’d probably pick the latter.
  • And the main point is: Most people ask for ascended isnt mainly because of the stats. Ascended gear is more like a status thing. Realistically speaking, a person in full ascended are more likely to know their kitten better than a person in full exotic. Just because a person says that they’re good with their rotation doesnt mean that they actually are. You can’t just believe in everything ppl say on the internet. Thus, asking for ascended is technically the safest bet.

So, again, it’s ok for people to ask for ascended gear in raid, stop complain about it. If you dont like it, make another party with no requirement.

As asked I read. Your tone was snarky (intended?) and although you may have been here since launch (as many here have) your 3 months worth of posting history make you look like a new player shouting at the world. Talking about how things used to be in GW2 without mentioning that legendary precursors dropped from multiple game modes makes you sound uninformed.

People bought the game and may or may not want legendary armor, but raids being the only avenue for acquiring that armor is a new concept for GW2. I’m not asking for legendary armor to be aquired outside of raids but I’m not going to call players who’ve supported this game for years whiners and carebears for wanting to be able to get it outside of raids. Welcome to the forums at the very least.

Keep telling us how things used to be though even though we’ve been here as it’s amusing.

I really wish that these forums weren’t filled with such ungrateful, complainy people

We paid for the game I owe no gratitude.

True, you don’t. You also aren’t required to even acknowledge the many positives of both the main game and the expansion either. And we aren’t prohibited from describing such behavior as whiny and “complainy”.

I love gliding, I absolutely adore the chronomancer, I really like most of the new maps, the story mode was fun, even though the story itself wasn’t so much. I love the feeling of getting lost, of knowing that there’s always some nook and cranny I haven’t explored, and the new maps give me that and also bump up the difficulty to a point where the game is actually challenging for once. Another thing I enjoy is the bigger focus on group content – if you don’t want to play with other people, don’t play MMOs! I also actually started playing PvP more actively, which is always nice. Also raids! Where I can be a support player! And the break bar replacing defiance, why the hell is nobody talking about this?!

All in all, while Anet did make some pretty big mistakes (fractals, WvW, legendaries requiring events to fail, which is the dumbest kitten I’ve ever seen) I am confident they will tweak them. The actual gameplay base of the game is more solid than ever and I just can’t wait to see them introduce new elite specs and masteries.

Soloing has been a thing in every MMO ever. If you’re new to the genre I can understand your mistake but if you’re not, you should at least be aware enough to admit that removing what GW2 was most loved for by many paid players (solo content) is what’s caused a portion of the backlash.

WvW was something GW2 did better than any other MMO and they’ve trashed it.

Dungeons never got updates so they added gold. Removing that gold I see as only a cash grab as they added nothing to Fractals at all (other than making ascended not drop at all… Oops).

I am glad to see others enjoying HoT but watch what you call customers who feel cheated.

Dumping Druid for Tempest

Aidenwolf.5964

If you don’t like the druid mechanics that’s okay, a lot of people don’t and seem to think Druid is terrible because of their biased opinions. Most of the people who don’t are also spreading the information that Tempest is overall better when it is clearly not. I have friends in other guilds who are convinced that tempest > druid and they haven’t killed anything after the first boss.

Pretty much this ends every druid “QQ” thread. Nothing more to add.

I don’t QQ kid troll along. I prefer the ungated mechanic of the Ele and hopefully in 8 weeks when they rebalance they’ll fix this pile.

First you call someone “troll kid”, then you admit that you simply don’t like the AF mechanic.
Which is far different that your thread’s “point” where you said Tempest is way better and druid is “not so elite spec”.

Pretty much sums this up.

Simple question. Have you even raid healed on Druid let alone tempest? I’ve detailed my thoughts on both. Move along.

Yes I have healed on druid and I have dps’ed on tempest. Yes I could probably heal VG on tempest. Is it viable? Yes. Is it better? No.
That’s what you fail to admit, and ignore players that say otherwise with actual proof. I won’t post any screenshots or videos. There are plenty out there from pugs to top-end raid guilds. See how many use druids and how many use tempest. I guess you know better than them…

You’re adding nothing to the discussion other than anecdotes and hyperbole. I’m not basing my thoughts on other players or compositions I’m talking about my preference and citing my experiences with both.

The Druid’s heals are gated this is a fact. If you’re only interested in derailing I suggest you try an easier target. I’ve been raid healing longer than you’ve likely been playing video games.

No one has provided proof of any kind, I’m a man of science I’d listen to proof.

Druid needs to be balanced for PVP so it can’t be a heal spammer in PvE which is what it’s for. Fix your kitten.

I’ve still yet to hear from people who killed Gorseval/Sabetha while playing a tempest healer (I know it’s possible, just not recommended). All of you can be proud of your Vale Guardian kills with Tempest Healer, but druid is easily the better choice for any fight that’s actually hard unlike the first boss. Not sure how you can consider tempest healer a superior build when there are far fewer Gorseval/Sabetha kills with a tempest healer than a druid healer. Viable? Yes. Better? No.

As I said earlier the raw healing numbers clearly favor Druid. My issue with Druid is the gating of the heals, which when I’m on my Tempest are magnified. If you spreadsheet a condition DPS spec an Engi destroys a Warrior but a Warrior is much easier because it doesn’t require button mashing (other than 1) to achieve it’s potential. I posted my review on the Ranger forum because I hope Anet consider changing CA to work more like Necro DS which would allow you heal without staring at a resource bar or timer.

OP, you do realize that you have zero actual arguments about Tempest being better do you? All that we get from your post is that you just dislike the AF system and therefore trying to convince yourself that Druid healer is not worth it.

1. Tempests have constant AOE regen and very decent burst heals compared to Druids who lack the AOE of Tempest but have a significant big heal.

This says nothing at all. Regen is not hard to come by in a raid of 10 and also Astral Wisp counts as a contant low-ish heal as well.

2. Tempests (while running Apoth) have very good burning damage while not losing the ability to shout heal, something a Druid cannot match as they’re in staff almost always trying to fill the CF bar just to access their heals.

Druid in Zealot with double cats and S/A as a secondary set also has decent damage. An experienced player will never have AF problems while dancing between sword/staff. Even if a healer is not wanted for its damage…

3. Druid mobility is very good and spotter is incredible but spirits are bugged and if another ranger is providing spotter the need for a Druid is greatly lessened. Tempest is very mobile as well and while they don’t provide the buffs a Druid can, spamming fury, might, protection, regen and swiftness is a breeze.

Yeah thank god for fury, might, protection, regen and swiftness! If not for a tempest healer we would have never seen these buffs! Totally outperform Glyph of Empowerment, Sun Spirit, Frost Spirit, Nature Spirit and Grace of the Land!

4. The clunky mechanics and bugs that plague the Druid I could live with if they out healed my Tempest but in my mind it isn’t even close, my Tempest is better. Constant regen uptime and big (enough) heals, (by the way test out arcane brilliance on a water field when you’ve got over +1200 healing it’s ridiculously big) make the Tempest My choice of healer.

This game is not about HPS. All healing builds will never go pure healing because you can keep the whole group alive while providing other useful stuff like a bit of DPS and buffs.

I appreciate your thoughtful response. Tempest healer, specifically my build also is one of the 3 going to red on split in Vale. Blue green and red down at the same time meaning I’m adding serious DPS to the raid when not pure healing. I am absolutely out DPSing My Druid.

It’s personal preference but the game isn’t built around Druid healing and I don’t miss it when I’m on my Tempest.

I never once claimed to have issues generating AF and as for experience My Ranger is named Aidenwolf is My main and is 3 days older than launch so… I referenced the clunky UI and by that I mean that Druid healing is gated by a timer both in and out of form and by AF. Tempest healing handles oh kitten better, if you disagree I’d recommend trying a Tempest and seeing for yourself.

The Druid is great in PvP but I’m not a fan of the mechanic. I’ve raid healed for 15 years that’s experience.

Again, a healer is not wanted for it’s dps. DPS is the job of the remaining 8/9 people in your raid. Your job is to provide the best buffs you can for your group, and keep them alive at all times.

Both Druid and Tempest can keep a group alive, but druid completely outperforms tempest when comparing offensive buffs.

Both classes can complete a raid as healers. Druid is just a better choice because the raid overall will go faster.

Your post is saying the exact opposite, and that’s where you are wrong.

You really should make your mind up. (from above)

Druid in Zealot with double cats and S/A as a secondary set also has decent damage.

You also mocked the buffs Eles provide but at least it’s entertaining. Raid encounters are on timers and you aren’t always healing so personal damage of the healer is relevant.

This isn’t my run or my preferred build but pay close attention to health bars while they ran to the circle on a lit section. That’s on demand Aura power. Again, I’ve actually healed on Druid and Tempest, you clearly haven’t

<snip>

So basically what you’re saying is that tempest outheals, outbuffs and outdps druid, all in one build? In short, it’s better in every way.

Pretty kitten amazing balance if that’s true, which I wouldn’t be a tiny bit surprised if it actually is, it’s Anet we’re dealing with after all.

Buffing is what Eles do so that’s not a shock. The raw heal numbers clearly favor the Druid it’s the design of the class that makes me favor Tempest. Damage is clearly in favor of Apoth Tempest and with 1 signet you can add 10% burn duration and push the damage even higher.

The difference between Druid and Tempest healing is much like Engineer vs Warrior burn specs. Engineers do more potential damage but Warriors do it easier. That’s how I see Tempest healing it’s on demand so I can concentrate on the fight and not my cooldowns and AF generation or CA timers.

I have little exp with a tempest but i am temptested to try one out. What I wonder though can the Tempest both heal and tank gorseval? Since currently a druid is nice for both roles in this fight.
The other part i wonder is does Gotl, sun spirit, frost spirit, empowerment glyph, in general provide enough raid damage/upkeep that this surpasses the individual damage difference a tempest does over a druid (staff AA + pet)?

None knows this answer?

The Gor fight is anti Spirits as adds go to them hurting the pull. Tempest could absolutely heal tank that fight with a good raid team. I’d want one or 2 of the others dropping an occasional heal to take some of the pressure off the Tempest but that’s more piece of mind than necessity.

What does the tempest heal build look like ?

This is what I run. The trinkets change depending on the toughness of the tank but it’s also fully capable of heal tanking.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vFAQFAWn0XC9XiNYCWYCcYilSAz9smWnrEJgKQAooKuBGBA-TRxGABupDAgHAwiq/k2+DkfBAAA-e

Is the condi dmg really good here ? You have very little condis application. Wouldn’t zealot be more powerful ?

Healing gear loses ferocity to add healing so even with higher crit you’re at baseline. By running Apoth I can add near full power condition damage with burns though without duration they are big. Fire overload is a whirl finisher on a fire field which also creates an aura which heals huge. I cycle water until everyone’s topped off them earth (protection) air (swiftness) then fire (might) and lay down my fire field drop a flame Aura (feel the burn) which AOE heals and adds burns, overload, then back to water (big heal on attunement).

If I need more heals I dodge into allies for arcana.
