So far the biggest hack is the teleport, which is minor compared to other online games with completely game breaking cheats. Heck, there are bots in League of Legends at challenger rank. Just be happy the chronobunker isn’t a robot able to outplay a 1v5.

Yes, securing the product (be it a game or an OS) is absolutely the responsibility of the software developer/publisher. There is an acceptable period of time where after a hack is known for the developer to address the problem. A quick google search reveals the current implementation of the “teleport hack” has been in use since HoT launched. So this has been lingering at least 2.5 months and considering how winning at sPvP is largely about mobility I can’t think of a more determental hack to the game than teleport. At least a bot can be easily detected. At least Riot Games communicates with their community and seems to have a handle on their product.

Ok bear with me here I’m about to white knight like a Mo Fo which I never do. You’ve just seen them ban a metric ton of players. When this season is over look for another wave in PVP. Based on very recent (this week) experience, Anet give no warning they simply strike.

PvP is a more difficult area to hack check based solely on the wording used in another hack case. There aren’t map points in PvP, I’d guess that’s why these have yet to be dealt with. Of course there are other methods they could use we’ll see what happens but they’ve just shown how they deal with hackers.

Jeez… I never said to simply forgive them. They are wrong a 100%. All I said was they are already punished enough with temporarily loosing their accounts and being shamed here and on reddit. The guy only admitted to cheating after Anet stated the offense. Anet did not to my knowledge say that was the only offense, so should they show evidence of more would his story change again? Who knows, but he cheated and attacked Anet and then retracted.

The OP says that the puzzle was originally designed as something to do for fun and it’s showing its age, especially since people now feel the need to farm it to earn enough gold or otherwise acquire drinks for a particular shiny.

On its own, that seems like a fair statement.

However, the OP goes on with some specific details that are, at best, arguable and at worst, hyperbole that distracts from the main point: perhaps Winter Wonderland should be updated before 2016 Wintersday — the JP has some issues that aren’t a problem for running the puzzle a few times, but become horribly annoying for many that are trying to run it repeatedly.

Sorry but at best I’m calling out Bugs which do exist and player’s choice of race which block the vision of another player. This is player vs puzzle, in the state it’s been for 3 years it’s player vs puzzle and other players. You can argue I like arguing but at best I’m right, I’ll freely admit to hyperbole.

In a full instance, the gingerbread bug is minor as you will constantly have people trying to cross over the presents. Someone taking that path will not have much of an impact.

Your character is located at the same location on your screen. You can do jumping puzzles based on that location. I have consistently done the JP with two charr (one had the wings) practically on top of me and not had any issues. That said, there is a check box for standard models. You could request that Anet extends that option to all activities.

Normalization would be great but I could also ask for what I did, as that was already done to the Mad King JP it’s a logical ask.

Any effect one player has on another on a JP is too much but as I’ve said this is altruistic as I’ll not grind this again.

The gingerbread bug is still annoying though, hopefully they will be able to fix it.

The snowflakes you jump on. This bug usually happens on the snowman path which is why I avoid that one.

I edited the OP to say snowflakes. I had written invisible presents by mistake. I run Quaggan and haven’t seen them this year but I used to run middle and saw them far too often. I hear players talking about them still, sad.

I apologize for any insult you’ve suffered but these bugs are real, not opinion. What is my opinion is that I believe these have no place in a 3 year old jumping puzzle and that removing them is in the best interest of the game.

As a player who runs Norn and Charr on gingerbread I can see why you would think this topic was aimed at you but this is for Anet.

It’s a great idea, I’d use tonics a lot more. A few guild members say this from time to time and I completely agree it makes sense. Some of the permanent tonics aren’t account bound though making it difficult, but I like it.

If you mean the third present in the middle exploded . It’s a pattern! They always created their pattern when they respawn. They have pretty much have 2-3 patterns in this path. If that happen just jump to other column of presents and continue.

I can’t comment on giant thing. I try jumping with my asura and I can get along with those giants just fine. But I can’t tell that " it’s not a problem" or “my muscle memory spoiled me” .
Even I do this jp on Charr I still lost my self sometimes when jump with other people. I dunno.

Invisible snowball: It’s happen about 2 weeks when it start. Now it’s gone. I never see it again.

The presents exploding without anyone having jumped on them is the bug. They are triggered by players from lane 1 (gingerbread). I’ve been in almost empty instances where no one was on lane 1 and presents sit forever until you jump, a perfect instance. If you have 1 player run lane 1 they explode when that player gets near the candy before the fire.

To put my own mind at ease, I was just now in the jp and I waited at the platform before the presents, and I watched. The only thing I could see that caused the presents to pop early was people jumping early. They were popping early and there was no one coming down the gingerbread path.

No one is required to do the jp. There are other ways of obtaining presents/drinks. Granted, those ways will take longer than the jp and will cost more, but they exist.

Furthermore, acquiring 10k drinks doesn’t have to be done during the one festival. That achievement can still be accomplished once Wintersday has ended.

Gingerbread path: I run it all the time, and I have never had a problem when other people run it. To say that players running it are hurting other players is not a fair statement.

Giants: They don’t bother me. I play around them. I either wait (briefly) for them to get ahead of me, or I run ahead of them. If they’re on the same platform as me, I just wait until they do their jump, or whatever they’re going to do. I like to play my Norn and Charr from time to time, and the comments people make in chat are really mean. I try to be polite by letting smaller characters go ahead of me. I know not everyone does, but some of the things that have been said are uncalled for.

This isn’t about 10,000 drinks. This isn’t about the direction of the game, or the lack of work put into festivals. This is about sanity and common sense.

The Winter Wonderland Jumping Puzzle is 3 years old and is still plagued with the same bugs it had in 2012. This puzzle was never meant to be a grind zone, it was a bit of fun and was never to be taken seriously so the bugs weren’t a pressing issue, until this year. Requiring 1,000 runs of this JP to earn (not buy) the Winter’s Presence skin is a tough ask, but ok, I decided to do it.

I’m Very good at this puzzle, not the best but good enough to average 13 a round (approximately). Not even talking about the hackers and bots, the absolute worst thing in the JP are the BUGS. 3 years ago I bug reported these and they’re still here!

1. Gingerbread path triggers the presents to explode early. Are you kidding me? This is still here? Anyone running that path hurts other players, makes their JP more difficult, it’s kitten.

2. Giants like Norm and Charr blocking the view of a player as they jump the puzzle. This could be easily changed to how the Clocktower was done, make everyone wisps. Simple.

3. Invisible Snowballs knock you off the path out of nowhere with no red ring tell. This is gamebreaking and has to be fixed. Add in some snowflakes that just don’t show up even though they are there. I can’t see them but others can…. Weird.

I’ll finish my grind in a few days, I’ll be done with the JP, this isn’t for my benefit. This puzzle must be fixed for next year because you drove me half kitten crazy this year, try to do better next year.

P.S. I love you (told you it drove me crazy)

50 50 win loss thing is real but the worst part is hearing people talk about getting 2 or 3 pips for a win.

How does that hurt everyone? I’m one of just many running it. There always lots of ppl running each path.
The only problem I’ve seen on the exploding presents is when that one person leaves a half second early. They usually miss and die but then it starts the presents popping so everyone else dies. I can’t see how saving 0.25 seconds is going to improve the number of runs.

There’s an issue where when you reach a certain point on that path that you cause the gifts to start popping as if you had jumped on them.

Exactly this. 3 year old bug that causes gifts to pop for other players because you ran gingerbread.

It’s a bug Anet should’ve squashed but they haven’t so as a player, be kind, run another path.

I get 17 if I’m on a lower pop instance or one that doesn’t have morons running Gingerbread. I’m usually in the 13-15 range though.

Please do make sure you are up to date on the pvp community if you are going to call someone out when it comes to PvP. You also may want to read up on the code of conduct and the general rules of what’s allowed speech wise within the game and forums. It may help you out in the long run : )

I took no offense it just was a separate issue to hacking. PvP chat is often over the top even my own at times but Block works 100%.

Of course it costs that much if you buy everything instead of crafting and farming it. You can get it for a very low cost by simply farming it you know.

I know for a fact that when I started crafting the precursor for Astralaria that I had quite a bit of the materials needed from the start, so doing the rest of the farming was a pretty simple task.

If you are in a rush to get a precursor and don’t have the ingredients, it’ll be expensive, but it can be cheap as hell as well compared to buying the precursor.

If you don’t want to pay the price, then don’t do it. At least now you can get it by other means than the random spamming the Mystic forge with weapons costing an insane amount of gold and risk the chance of not getting anything at all. The randomness is gone and replaced with time, if you don’t want to spend the time to farm, then it can be replaced with gold. Easy as that.

Should be on the Heart of Thorns description.

This is great news. If Anet can ban everyone running these hacks, take ALL their shinies and perma ban them then Tyria is a better place for it.

My only wish is that they would do this publicly. Removing hackers from the game is a big thing. I know some companies don’t like admitting they were hacked in the first place but everyone knows these existed. I would love to see these cheaters humiliated, but a perma ban wave is good too. GG Anet, GG.

Today i had the most awesome experience playing ranked spvp, I am baffled by how poorly people know their roles.

I play thief in like 95% of my games, it is arguably the worst class in the game right now but I still love it.

This is my point of view so feel free to correct me but:
As a thief nowadays your role is even more pushed down the lines of decap/cap and +1 fights because you simply can not 1v1 another class unless the other player is less skilled than you are. So I do my job, we end up winning by ~20 pts and:

Entering the story: the enemy DH who presses 3 skills and lays down his awesomely traps and says > “never seen such a coward, impressive”. And i`m like whoa, I played my class, when people have bad thieves on their team they complain that the class is freeloss, but when they play against someone who tries to play the class and manages to do so decently they flame… Worst part is they don`t even flame properly, the guy said “you were in the most 2v1 fights of your team by far” ofc i was, that is MY job.

I reached Diamond without much of a problem playing solo casually in the evenings with Necro or Revenant. If I have more time, I will reach Legendary soon.

Oh I stopped trying weeks ago it’s not happening. Could I have? Who knows. I went Thursday to Thursday without gaining a single pip (win 2 lose 2 mmr nonsense). That’s all I’ll do in league until they split solo from group.

As you can see on the screenshots in my earlier post there are quite a few queueing solo or queueing duo with similar div/MMRed players.
