Guild Wars 2

My husband and I are both gamers and if one of us is busy doing something in game, the other is almost always understanding. If we have things to do at a certain time, neither of us has a problem logging out, regardless of what we’re doing at the time.

I understand that some guilds/people get annoyed by that, but my husband and dog-children come first.

I absolutely hate AddOns. I love that this game doesn’t allow them. I’m coming back to GW2 from WoW and I have to say, that I spent a large portion of WoW contending with AddOns that didn’t work right, LUA errors left and right. It really cut into my play time, but you simply are kitten without them.

So glad I don’t have to worry about that here.

I played it at launch and I’ve played it many times on and off since. It’s not a game for me. I like MMO’s, it’s not technically an MMO. I forget what ArenaNET called it, but it was something else.

Anyhow, it’s instanced everywhere except the towns. I hate large amounts of instancing like that, I find it boring and it makes me feel alone in the world.

The character models (especially for the time in which the game was created) are gorgeous, the armor also gorgeous and the overall graphics, are also gorgeous. But it’s not enough for me to actually play and stick with the game.

If you’re going into it solely for lore purposes, go for it, or just go read the lore on the wiki(s). In my opinion, you’re really not missing out on much, but others would greatly disagree with me on that.

Listen, I am all for keeping the religious aspects of any holiday out of MMO’s. However, these days things like Christmas (Yule) and Easter can also be construed as non-religious holidays as well.

I’m anti-religious and still celebrate Yule, personally, and if I had children they would probably get things from the Easter bunny, however, we’d do it scavenger hunt style, haha.

Regardless, the bunny portion of Easter, to my knowledge, has no religious backing and has only been around since the mid 1600’s. Why a rabbit delivers eggs, is really beyond me.

If I purchase Guild Wars 2 directly from the website, will it give me a code in my email to register? I want to buy it for a friend and don’t want it to create an account with my email address.

I haven’t been playing since about November. I’m wondering if Tarnished Coast is still considered the RP server to play on?

I know none of them are technically labeled, but usually certain groups stick to certain things, so… I figured I’d ask.

I personally want mounts. I’m a collector and love collecting pets (though I’m not thrilled with their mini pet system – I honestly prefer WoW’s pre-MoP system).

I don’t even care if the mounts go only slightly faster than me. I enjoy using them for RP purposes. They also make me feel more in tune with the world. They’re certainly more realistic than walking everywhere. People have been riding mounts (horses mainly) for … too many years to count.

I’d very much like them. I wouldn’t mind there being less waypoints for mounts, personally…

Well, there is nothing in that particular quoted link that actually states we can’t use this program. It doesn’t do anything to do the game, so it’s safe to use. I’ve been using it for ages now. Can’t even imagine not using it…

Yeah, it’s been bugging me for awhile because it seems most of the hair choices for Asura, and many others really, have accessories. It seems silly that we can’t change the color of them.

I have an Asura and a lot of the hair options come with accessories. It would be incredibly awesome if we could change the colors of these via dye and such from within the dye screen so that they could always match whatever color armor we want to go with.

There are so many options at creation, but I find that I always have to choose a neutral gray color so that it matches all outfits instead of just the starting gear.

Please give us this option. It allows for more customization, which is always a good thing. Thanks.

Can you get it from the digital upgrade in game, does anyone know?

I hope they NEVER add heroes/henchmen to GW2. That was one of the most annoying things ever, in my opinion and the main thing that kept me away from GW1 so much.

However, considering they don’t consider GW1 an MMO (but instead an RPG thing that I can’t remember the acronym for) I highly doubt we’ll see them as it would defeat the purpose of an actual MMO (which is of course, to do things with other people).

Not sure what game you played with 8 max party. Most games tend to use 5-6 in my experience and very few have regular parties with more than that. Usually anything over that is considered a raid group.

Oh my god I want a Dolyak plushie! In fact, I’d like a real Dolyak, please. :P

I totally agree, more town clothes, or make it like it is in LotRO and let them cover up whatever armor we wear, if we so choose… I love LotRO’s wardrobe system, since it lets me be creative with what my character is wearing. I wish more games would do this.

Normally, I don’t respond to these types of posts but I felt the need. I understand the desire to solo a lot, especially since I like to read and not rush but it [I] is [/I] an MMO, so sometimes it makes sense for grouping to be involved. Frankly, I wish there were a lot more options for grouping, since there is so much solo content to be had. I like to mix it up some.

First person view locks the camera height… I’d honestly prefer (when talking about screenshots) that ctrl+shift+h would toggle off UI, then toggle off character, then toggle all on…

Would make for the best screenshots in the game.

I’d be down with that, I really don’t care how it’s implemented. I just want to be able to make gorgeous screenshots of this game without the use of Vista’s and /sleep.

Can we please have first person view? You have such a gorgeous game and I want to take screenshots of so much of it, but I don’t want my character to be in every screenshot I take.

I know I can do /sleep but it puts my screenshots at a weird angle to keep myself out of it and I have to be zoomed in so I can’t see me on the ground.

I totally agree. I mean, I can understand the cutscenes and such being a one-off but the overall events would be better off done over the course of a week rather than a short three-day period.

Especially given the fact that everything they put out seems to have some major bugs launched with it. Not sure what that’s about. Maybe not enough testing in advance?

They’re apparently extending Phase 1 into Phase 2 of today and have been apparently pushing through fixes for the NPC’s.

Have to admit some major disappointment on a few levels though, not even related to the buggyness but the overall lack of anything interesting item-wise.

Canach is bugged and it has rendered the progression of this storyline impossible. Any chance this will get fixed tonight?

I’m an officer of a guild and we like to keep our guild full of active members. We’re having a tough time weeding out the inactives since there is no “Last Online Date” area.

Could we please get this in a future update? I find it to be a very crucial piece of information.

If it makes you feel any better I missed the last several days of Halloween and will now probably miss this as well. I got hit by Sandy, finally have power back but my Internet is still out and Comcast has no ETA on the restoration.

I really hope they add mounts, personally. I love mounts in games. I love to ride whatever it is, walking, through large maps. I’m a role player and as far as I’m concerned I think it is absolutely silly that no one has a mount.

And thankfully we forum-users are only a small population of the players because I guarantee if they polled the player base as a whole, the majority would want them.

This is something that greatly annoys me on my female Asura. I want to buy some of the gem shop hats but can’t because they make her bald.

I know that the witches outfit and the mad king outfits are departing us after today. I’m wondering if the rabbit ears, aviator’ kitten etc. are going too?

Sadly the hurricane hit us and my power is out at the moment. I had meant to buy the rabbit ears but my power dropped unexpectedly.

Only thing I wish I could change is the location of the screenshots it takes. Does anyone know how to accomplish that?

I said I had a performance improvement. I still don’t know why, but my FPS went up by at least ten. Changed some settings a bit and it went back down. Going to tweak it some more today provided I don’t lose my power (hurricane is set to go here – NJ).

Yeah, it sucks. I wish they used a widget or something that posted their Twitter/FB Feeds to this website, since they’re so hell-bent on using it.

Yes, they confirmed via twitter/facebook that it was an outage at the data center. Should be back up now though, but a lot of people (myself included) are having problems connecting.

These are my settings after a few days of changing.This is really the sweet spot for me,my game looks incredible.I suffered from too much red,and too much colours etc,the way ive set it up now is just ffing perfect.Note they might seem different for you depending on your monitor type.I have SMAA disabled and still use the ingame’s FXAA,when having FXAA enabled i find the shadows are looking a bit better especially around plants and such,SMAA makes Guild wars 2 way to sharp when having Luma enabled aswell,imo.

I don’t know how to change settings :/ . I extracted the files. Do you edit SweetFx_Settings with notepad to change them? If yes do you just add numbers? How ? Also how do you turn it off or on?

I would really recommend reading the included readme because it explains everything in wonderful detail. I read through that and it made it much easier to understand what I needed to do.

Yeah, I ran into this problem the other day and it lasted an extremely long time. As an RP’er this is going to be a serious problem. They need to fix it. I understand its for anti-spamming but the amount is too low…

The readme explains it as does the page you get it from but I’ll explain it briefly.

Go to the site. Download the zip. Unzip the zip and place the files directly into the Guild Wars 2 folder in your c:/.

You can change the settings via the included settings file (read the readme for these directions).

When you load the game the injector will load automatically. You can turn it off and on with scroll lock and refresh it with the pause button.

It only takes a little bit generally. My husband and several of our friends ran into this issue when trying to join me on my server. Give it 15 min or so and check back. It changes often, it seems.

There is an option, the last one in the first set of changeable options, set it to 0. I believe it’s called split screen. Hope that helps!

I love Tarnished Coast and I’m really glad I rolled here. I haven’t seen any ERP at all but I have seen tons of people RPing in general areas like Divinity’s Reach and such. It makes the world feel very alive.

Since ST’s are still free, I recommend giving it a go over here. You can transfer once every 24 hrs so if you don’t like TC, then you can always go back or try somewhere else!

I think it would be cool if we had instanced questing similar to the personal storyline (ie an instance) that our order gives us.

I disagree, personally, unless they can make it so you don’t feel alone. One of my major problems with GW1 was all the instancing the game had. If I wanted to play alone I’d play Skyrim. I personally prefer to be in the open world.

Storyline quests are good here an there but I’m actually glad they’re not constant.

I’m totally on board with this idea. As someone who loves traditional questing it would be nice to see some now and then. I feel as though they’re missing from the game sometimes.

26, loving the game. Been playing MMO’s exclusively since I was 15, started with a 2D game called Dark Ages by Nexon and have been playing them non-stop ever since.

My husband and I started dating when we were 15 and could only see each other on weekends due to distance, if it wasn’t for MMO’s, we probably wouldn’t have lasted through our teenage years. Now we’ve been married over a year and our 11 year anniversary will be in January. I have gaming to thank for that.

He and many friends of ours are currently playing the game. We’re all between 23 & 26.

i think they’re terrific, personally. I found one last night that I hadn’t been to before. I didn’t even know it was a jumping puzzle until I got to the top.

I looked up, saw what looked like a ledge and decided to jump to it. I was so excited when I saw the chest at the top (even though it gave me NOTHING I could use – this was disappointing).

Personally I hated a lot about GW1. I hated that everything was instanced and I loathed henchmen and all of that. It’s what made the game very non-MMO. That being said, I did like the customization that the game had compared to GW2.

Hopefully they’ll revamp things as they go, as most MMO developers do.

I’ll admit that I was definitely on the cynical side to doing this. I don’t know why, but usually I just don’t trust this stuff to make games look better but so far, so good. I used Cezton.2415’s settings and so far I really like it.
