Well, you can take them in bmp’s if you add -bmp to the command line in properties. It takes huge screenshots.
I usually use Irfanview to batch convert them to PNG. I wish they just had a PNG option, similar to -bmp because it’s a better image than both, in my opinion.
I bought the witches costume as soon as I logged into the event but I have yet to see a little black cat. Can I please get some details on it? Rather upset that I don’t seem to have one… Or I’m blind.
It seems like it’s just under 700MB altogether.
50% @ 450.xx MB
I’m 26% of the way through at some 3xx.xx MB.
As someone currently patching, I need to know; I’m at 50 MBs downloaded and I still haven’t hit 1%. Is that because it’s not showing up properly, or because this update IS FRIGGIN HUGE?
I’m at 1xx.xx MB and only at 1%… so, it’s friggin huge.
My download keeps disconnecting. Hopefully it will stop doing that soon… x.x;
Trying to make it… but fading fast. My eyes are drooping.
Don’t look for weapons/armor to be account wide. Even the free horns, I’m sure you’ll have to log in with each toon and claim it (just like the baseball cap at launch).
The baseball cap works across all my characters. It says right in it’s description, “Account Bound”. I keep it in my bank usually, but it definitely works on all of my characters.
Are the rewards for the Halloween event account-wide? I have yet to really decide on my main character, in fact I keep re-rolling them constantly. That being said, I’d like to know if the costumes and stuff from the BLTC, etc. are going to be account-wide so I don’t have to worry about wasting my gems on something I can’t use again.
Thanks in advance!
Only headset I will ever buy is a Logitech G35. If they stopped making them, I would wilt away. Hell, I’d probably never buy another headset because none of the previous ones have ever been so comfortable.
If you wear glasses, this is the best headset I’ve ever found. It doesn’t squeeze your brain and give you headaches. It has 3 different attachable padded headpieces to fit your head better. Built in voice changers to mess with people on ventrilo (space squirrel ftw) and it has really great sound.

I just think there should be a ton more armor in the game to choose from, especially cosmetic clothes since we have these town slots but nothing to really put in them.
To top it off, female Asura & Charr really need their own set of clothing to differentiate themselves from the males. Asuran armor looks like crap for females and it upsets me since it’s my favorite race.
Hope they start adding more…
Apparently, from what I’ve read, back armor like cloaks and such were in during one of the late alphas/early betas. They were removed for clipping issues and its been said/hinted/assumed that we will see them at a later date during a content patch.
I’ve gathered this from multiple sources but have no idea what is and isn’t true.
Sorry, but I have friends from all over the world in different zones, we like to get together to play. I am sure many others do the same thing. Charging real $$$ to allow us to get together would be a ridiculous punishment/non incentive to play for those that want to arrange a time and server to play together.
They’ve had free world transfers open for a while. I recommend picking a server and having everyone you want to play with move to it. OR, you can wait until the free server transfers are no longer (which is going to happen, they’ve already stated that) at which point you can actually “visit” other servers byway of grouping and such (if I understand what I’ve read correctly) and play with them that way. However, be warned, you will not be able to do WvW with them, that’s the only rub, bub.
They never had to give us free world transfers for as long as they have. Frankly, I’m surprised it’s still going on.
And other games, such as WoW have pay-to-transfer so it’s not incredibly insane that ANet is doing it with their game too.
I agree that it’s lacking. Asura, Charr and Sylvari have incredibly limited options in regards to hair and face options compared to that of the Humans and Norn. They really need to add more to these specific races above all else.
I do agree that it would be nice to have scars and tattoos available.
For Sylvari I picture scars looking like they do when people cut up a tree. Leaves sort of a raised gash in the bark. That would be pretty nifty.
Overall, I don’t think the CC is all that bad. It does have a decent amount of options but it could be so much better.
I had that issue with the face because my first Sylvari’s facial choice kept opening her eyes really wide and it looked odd.
However, aside from that small issue, I like the running animation a lot.
Still enjoying it immensely. I take a few days break now and then in order to stay interested and not burn out. From 1-10 how interested? 10.
Try this one.
Thanks, forgot Curse was doing one. Seems that this is a pretty decent site for builds, same with GW2Codex.
Thanks much!
First one. Definitely.
this one is the best:
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/
But is there any area on there (that I’m not seeing) that shows off builds people have done?
Anyone know what the most used/best build site is to look up builds and to create one’s own?
I do the same thing. Lol. I just like to explore all that I can!
I use a Logitech G13 game pad. Started using one in Cataclysm with WoW and I’ve never looked back. I now only use my keyboard for typing, never for movement or combat. The joystick, I feel, allows you to be far more accurate and faster than traditional wsad.
I wouldn’t even hesitate.
I should forewarn you that it will take a tad bit of time to get used to, but its very much worth it.
Definitely still having a blast.
33 Engineer 9.5
There is a missing skill point NPC on Tarnished Coast, in Metrica Province at the Inquest Outer Complex.
This is the second time he’s been missing in a week.
A 5 MB BMP is still going to be around a 2-3 MB PNG whereas it’ll only be a 200-500 KB JPG. As for getting it implemented, I’d imagine it’d only be done if one of the devs had some free time and was bored.
If you want PNGs though, you could just BMP them then batch convert them using something like IrfanView.
I’m saying it would be nice to have an option to do it via the command line like we have currently with -BMP.
That being said, the batch convert is currently the only option I have and what I plan to do until they, hopefully, give us the option.
JPG is meant for pictures not graphics and often makes game screenshots look like crap, which is why I’d like PNG support.
I’m shocked more people don’t want PNG. As someone who works a lot on the web (I run a gaming blog) not having PNG’s blows and yeah I can change them in photoshop but that is an extra, unnecessary step, if they can just make it PNG-enabled.
I do wish that the big rewards like this were linked to our profession. I was a tad surprised to find that they weren’t.
I personally love that they do this. It means that there is a hell of a lot more game to play through in the long run.
Hello there,
I was wondering if in the future (hopefully the not-to-distant future) if perhaps the game could support PNG screenshots rather than JPG or BMP. I know that you can add the command -bmp to the properties and it takes them in BMP but those are enormous files and JPG just aren’t aesthetically as attractive as a BMP or PNG.
PNG’s are crystal clear, without being enormous files and if given the option I’d definitely like to use that for screenshots.
So I don’t know if there is already a way to do it, but if there’s not, I would definitely suggest that it become an option in the future.
The level 2 Engi is my temp character. I bought a blue helm from the TP, but it won’t let me transmute it, I assume it’s because I’m too low level to wear it. So I need to find something low level enough to get the first transmute done with the temp character, and then I should be good to go with my main. Correct?
I didn’t have that issue, InVinoVeritas. I transmuted a pair at level 2 to a level 10 blue and had no issues doing it.
Are you doing it right? It took me a sec to figure out how transmuting worked. Kind of cool system though, I must admit.

I purchased a Logitech G13 back when cataclysm was coming out. It was the best investment in computer peripherals I ever made. Makes setting up a keyboard so easy and all of my game keys are in one location.
Well, it would be helpful to know what your specs are.
Also you’re on a laptop so if it isn’t built for gaming, then that too could be a reason.
I saved a name for my friend who wasn’t going to be able to play until today. I deleted the character and she went to create her character and… go figure that the name is now linked to my account.
How long is it linked to my account after deletion?
I can say that I keep map chat confined to a tab of it’s own. For the first week of play it was filled with nothing but nonsense and crap. So I keep it to a separate tab to make sure I can see the important stuff in the main tab.
Thus, I pretty much never look at it.
As far as “say” chat goes, you’ll probably only see RP’ers using “say”. Map chat is usually OOC.
They desperately need to give us more “wig” options though. 6 compared to the amount the human has, is laughable at best. Facial options too.
I do like the wig theory though and that would explain a lot of the bizarre hair colors we’re seeing out and about.
I always figured since they were underground-dwelling creatures that they would have dark hair and light eyes.
Didn’t have a problem liking my Asura. I did have a problem enjoying Engineer.
I concur. This has ruined many a great screenshot for me and it honestly provides zero help for me regularly. I just want to toggle it off.
If only it would do -png, then my screenshotting would be complete! :P
But that’s great to know and I’ve just changed my shortcut for future screenshots. Thanks!
I’m having the same problem.
I started with an Engineer and hated it by the time I got it to 33. I felt like I was just doing the same thing over and over and that it had very little versatility even though I thought that’s what the class was going to be about. I’m totally burnt on it, so I’m letting it sit until maybe it changes in the future. Just sick of dropping turrets.
So now I’m fighting myself between a Ranger & a Thief. I like both. I feel like I’ve tried every class and I can’t decide what I like the most to stick with. This is making it very difficult for me to write a backstory for RP (Tarnished Coast – RPer).
Hopefully I’ll get my head out of the sand soon and pick something!
I should think that more options will be available over the course of the games life. Its 2 weeks old. Give this beautiful baby a chance to grow.
You would think that, as many would/should, HOWEVER, games like WoW have proven that age doesn’t mean a thing when it comes to character creation. They have a terrible character creator, their character models are horribly out of date (and they know this as they’ve acknowledged it) but yet no options have been added in the, oh 7 or so years it’s been out.
So while yes the game is 2 weeks old, I don’t think it’s too much to say even this early in, that there aren’t enough choices for faces/hair/etc.
My Engi motto has become “screw it, I’ll just drop some turrets” and that is not the Engi I signed up for.
Heh. Oddly that’s exactly the kind of Engineer I wanted to play the minute I saw it and I’m still having a blast at level 50.
Diff’rent strokes.
I felt, for some reason, like Engineer’s would be a “jack of all trades” sort of class. Like we would have a lot of different & viable options, but I just… don’t feel that’s the case after playing them for as long as I have. Sadly, it’s time, I think, to move onto a different class for a while and watch how they progress over the next few months.
But you are right, different strokes.
My biggest issue is with the Asura as I typically play them (I have one human – that I don’t play).
There are simply not enough facial and hair options for this race. I wind up seeing clones all the time (thankfully not of myself as yet – except my own clones of course).
I hope they add more soon, because so far for me, it’s kind of a disappointment especially when I compare it to humans/norn who have so many more.
I don’t really see any major problems on my server, well besides the lack of engineers.
I have an engineer and liked it until I got around level 30. I hate that I don’t have more actual weapons to use. I understand I have kits and all but I haven’t found one that I like very much and instead I wind up just being a turret-placer which… has gotten repetitive and boring (which sucks because I really desperately wanted to play that class).
That feel. I know it.
One of the biggest problems with Engi in my eyes is the wonky weapon mechanics. Flamethrowers seem to fire in a T shape, allowing me to hit my 3, 9 and 12 all at once. If you use the 3 ability and immediately follow with 2, it’s almost always obstructed. Oh, and let’s not forget having to remind each secondary weapon every single time I decide to equip it that the first ability should be on auto-attack.
I stopped having fun with mine in a big hurry, which is a shame, because I loved the idea of being able to equip myself with a tool for every situation and be prepared for anything that could be thrown at me.
My Engi motto has become “screw it, I’ll just drop some turrets” and that is not the Engi I signed up for.
On topic: I see tons of Warriors. I think on Tarnished Coast, they just fall from the sky – complete with their trademark pile of signets and precision gear.
This is exactly my issue which then results in more issues because I’m on an RP server for a reason and I planned to RP that character and after 33 levels I would hate to delete her and start from scratch on another profession with her, because what if Engi gets better in the future. It’s such a difficult decision.
So for now, I’ve moved on over to Darby Rue, Ranger. Which I really enjoy. Sadly it’s very populated.
I think a lot of games don’t know how to add content without raising the level cap, because most games are built on a scale that makes content harder and harder, whereas GW2 is built on the foundation of almost a flat line in terms of content difficulty.
I don’t think they need to ever raise the cap, they could just add scale-able content in the future or add more lv. 1-80 zones with the expansions.
What I hope they avoid doing, expansion-wise, is adding new continents separate from the initial game like they did with GW1. They didn’t feel fluid, they just felt like totally different games and I hope they avoid doing that this time around.
I completely concur! This is desperately needed.
Also the ability to sort by profession or usability…
