Imo, the “real” problem isnt fresh air in pvp, it was the fact that eles did so much damage in pve that no other classes were ever needed
Except for the fact that they are buffing the build that “did so much damage in pve that no other classes were ever needed” (staff), and nerfing dagger builds, which were never all that great at dps (except for having ice bow/LH).

At the end of the fractal, the Champion Weapons Test Engineer spawns inside the door (which appears to have been moved, probably because it was a safe spot during the AoE phase). The champion is invulnerable and cannot be killed.
Air – Current 150 Ferocity and Bolt to the Heart for 6.67%
Bolt to the Heart will probably get boosted to 10%, same as Executioner. Bountiful Power should give 2% per boon.
(edited by Alphard.6529)
Result:
66060: 220 ferocity + 10% when >90% + 6-8%
66200: 6.67% + 10% + 10%
For the vast majority of players, 10% when >90% is nowhere near as good as 10% in air or 10% within 600 range.
What about this?
While many builds for other classes are getting more powerful due to the additional traits they will be able to take, it seems like D/F builds are getting nerfed.
What we’re losing:
1. Air Training (10% dmg air trait)
2. Stone Splinters (10% dmg earth trait)
3. Bolt to the Heart (you can’t take it together with Fresh Air)
That’s a massive dps reduction and I doubt the extra ~220 ferocity from the adept/master air traits will make up even for the Air Training loss (not to mention you’re now using 2 traits to compensate the loss of 1). The only somewhat reliable damage boost from water is the grandmaster damage increase per boon, which will hardly compensate, and on top of that, you can’t take Renewing Stamina (very useful in harder content) anymore unless you’re happy with doing far less damage than before this update.
Edit: I should also mention that the damage bonuses we had from air training/stone splinters/btth were nearly condition free (they always applied, as you’re in air attunement almost all of the time, when attacking you’re always within 600 range, etc), so even if the water damage traits somehow stack up to a reasonable amount, they are not condition free bonuses, so it is still a nerf. And now in order to take Renewing Stamina you need to take a massive dps hit from not having water, whereas before you could take only a 10% damage loss.

What about the fact that turrets can be placed in the air, on trees and other very hard (or impossible) to reach places for many builds?
Mine also says Thursday, 24 March
The stress test is scheduled for Thursday, 24 March from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. GMT (12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Pacific) and 25 March from 12:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. GMT (24 March from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Pacific).
For me it started happening today – before the patch! The patch didn’t fix it.
Edit: The second patch (just now) seems to fix it.

Has anyone confirmed that with UI on, it’s the CPU that gets bottlenecked, not the GPU?
I also have seen an increase in performance… but only if i hide the UI
Same for me. With UI i’m getting ~30 FPS, when I hide the UI (skill bar, map, everything) I get close to 60 FPS (i can even see the number in the options window briefly when i turn the UI back on, before it goes back to 30 a second later). Also with UI on, with each additional window (e.g. inventory, character screen, etc), my FPS drops by another 5 FPS, so with my inventory and character screen open, I’m at 20 fps. Super annoying as I often swap weapons and traits on the run.

I only calculated Lich Form to be 14k DPS (link#).
This is a bit offtopic, but could you link to any convention on how to go about calculating DPS? I’m specifically interested in whether the DPS is calculated for a specific rotation of the build and where the cast times/aftercast of the skills are derived from (or are they even used?), i.e. how you know how many times you can perform a rotation within a given period.

Yes, discussions on gear are fairly pointless, what matters is final stats, since there are multiple gear combinations that can achieve the same set of stats.
Except celestial gear has a higher total number of stat points, so in certain circumstances you can end up with more final stats (in every stat type).
I really do hope there will be a rune set that gives 30% boon duration or higher, but as of now, we can only hope.
It’s unlikely that we’ll get higher, because it would be considered OP in sPVP, and they’ve said that the rune sets will be the same across both pve and pvp.
I think water could possibly be the one for 45%
I suspect there won’t be a 45% rune at all, because it would be considered OP in sPVP. Sadly, another nerf to eles in wvw.
Is everyone JUST skill lagging, or also lagging in general?
Also jumping back-and-forth when moving. Once as I was walking inside one tower, I suddenly dropped dead (as if I’d jumped off a cliff), and I wasn’t even that close to a cliff (1500+ range). Then someone somehow ressed me, but I was still in my original location (from my point of view, from theirs they must have seen me teleport or something?). This lag is like doing a weird map hack >.>

Can’t even use auto-attack for extended periods of time (10+ minutes), nor any other weapon skills.
Burning retreat moves you 900 units WITH swiftness (and out of combat).
Flame leap has a range of 550, but before and after the cast you stop moving for a part of a second, so after using it you’re probably not 550 units ahead of someone who was running right beside you. Needs to be tested.
Yeah I’ve noticed this in the Swamp fractal – the Mossman always targets me when I’m on my ele (even as a staff ele at max range).
Always have a GS, Sword, Pistol and Focus in your inventory and swap them (when out of combat) based on what you’ll be fighting next.
Generally, when you’ll be fighting groups of trash mobs, it’s good to have a GS & Sword/Focus, because both phantasms do AoE damage. And when fighting a champion/boss/strong single mobs, equip GS+Sword/Pistol when at range and Sword/Focus+Sword/Pistol* when meleeing.
- You only need 1 Sword, if you equip only a pistol on the 2nd set, it will use the sword from the first set.

5% too low to get 9sec duration out of base 5sec duration boons (such as attunement swap, vigor on crit, fury and swiftness from auras).
Boon duration is not rounded/floored, so you should be getting 8.75 seconds out of a base of 5 sec (or 8.5s at a minimum).
Since WXP is soulbound, it’s normal that the boosters are also, no? :/
No.. because if I login on my lvl 10 char that I never intend to play WvW with and pick it up, it becomes useless. Also you’d almost certainly be using the booster on a char that’s already pursuing a higher rank, so.. yeah, needs to be account bound.
Yeah no further comment needed, please fix this.
I just want to reiterate the importance of out of combat weapon swapping, utility skill swapping, and even trait swapping. They are essential if you want to be an effective mesmer (effective in terms if DPS, as well as utility).
I usually use Sword+Focus/Pistol and GS, so within a single fractal/dungeon path I may change between Focus and Pistol 5-10 times depending on the group of mobs or boss we will be facing. Usually the Focus’ iWarden is good for AoE damage against groups of mobs, and Pistol is good against bosses, because it’s ranged. On some other bosses (e.g. in CoF p1 / CoE) where you’re always in melee, I switch to Sword/Focus + Sword/Pistol, but after the fight I immediately switch to GS + Sword/Focus because the Berserker and Warden both do AoE damage, and you’re likely to be facing groups of mobs again.
The obvious traits to swap are the dueling major trait: either reduce Pistol skills recharge or Sword skill recharge, depending on whether you have a Pistol equipped for the next encounter. Also you can swap the reflection trait in inspiration for the healing mantras trait, or for longer glamour duration, or for faster glamour recharge. There are many combinations.
These are just random examples, there are many places in dungeons/fractals where you can be more effective by using a specific weapon/trait/utility setup, and it’s important to take advantage of this.
Edit: You know how on the Ele forums people are complaining that eles have to do so much button mashing in order to keep up with other classes? Mesmers can also be micro-managed intensively, it just happens between fights.

I’ve a few people mention that power is not a really good stat at all
What? Power is the single best stat for increasing DPS. Only if you have over 2000 power and expect to have 15+ might stacks, then you can start worrying about diminishing returns on adding more power.
I’m not saying Celestial is bad, but you better be putting that healing power and condition damage to some good use.

1% of critical chance is equivalent to approx. 46 precision (making fury a nearly 1,000 attribute bonus to precision).
Actually, 20% critical chance = 420 precision
If you want to calculate auto-attack dps, you should go to LA, hit a practice dummy for a few minutes, record how much damage you’ve done, then divide by the number of minutes. Be sure to have the same amount of power on each char (beware might stacks), prec & crit don’t matter since you can’t crit on the dummies.
calculating dps based on wiki info:
Spatial surge hits 3 times with 1,5 second cast time 348 dmg:
(348/1,5)x3=696 dps
Actually the damage listed (348 dmg) is for the 3 hits total, not per hit.
Also are you taking into account the aftercast time?
