After testing it for 2 days in pvp:
LB #2 needs more dmg increase by 15-20%
Virtue of Courage cd decrease to kitten sec
Virtue of Resolve need evade + decrease cd to 20 sec.
Traps need more HUGE love.+
We need 25% moving trait ASAP in DH line.
Thanks.
Wow… ^^ i cant understand that tbh. Atleast they have to change 25% movement for the really crappy pure sight thing. Mesmers trait is example.
My point is also, in terms of making gold etc, if the old Dungeons remain as they are, the new content will simply not beeing used after people got their skins because they can make the same or even more ammount of gold with less effort.
So there isnt anything like it yet, so feel free!!!
Let me start, from what i have seen and experienced :
First i want to praise the work on HOT. The new World felt really amazing, the new AI and Monsters were much better than the old ones and all the features and so on are worth a look. Thank you for that.
Next I want to adress a few Words about each class and after it on PVE/Raids.
- The Reaper feels really good, it fits perfectly into the Necromancers Theme and is perfect for PvP. However, it could not compensate the drawbacks of a Necromancer in Pve regarding to Team support. Greatsword in PVP is so far accecpted with scepsis due its slow motion.
- Berserker is strong, feels very mobile and the effects are nice also. People are concerned about their sacrifices for actually getting the Berserker mode. I think that is justified, because depsite Berserker is strong, it isnt a 4th traitline.
- Scrapper feels good from what i have seen and experienced. Please dont kitten if you dont agree, just make your points what you dislike, iam sure i missed a few things.
- Daredevil brings back some old mechanics of the Thief and feels niceley done. However, this new profession could also not compensate the already existing issues with thief, but from my point of view, i dont really know if that is needed this much anyway. It feels still very strong!
- Tempest looks amazing, the new effects are worth it and it fits niceley in the Elementalist Theme and traitlines. The sacrifice for beeing a Tempest are well compensated by it and the Team support is on top level. People are concerned about the overloads beeing interrupted in sPvP all the time and the survivability. I have seen so far very vast potential on spvp also, so i cannot agree with those completely.
- Druids are absolutely fantastic. It feels very fitting and well thought, it offers a whole bunch of new possibilitys for beeing a ranger in PvP and Pve. Eventhough, a justified counter point is that rangers are still struggeling to maintain actual ranged DPS in PvE. I think that is worth looking into, because forcing a profession on a heal/support only role isnt healthy for the game. I also think that the avatar form could also deal some damage with its spells.
- Chronomancer are pretty much perfect. Please correct me if you feel the other way around.
- Dragonhunter is the lackluster of everything. This profession feels not worth be taken over any existing traitline, eventhough it can do some things by itself. The pure Guardian is just way better so far. Peoples strongest comlains are the LB DPS, movement, traps, survivability and movement of the Guardian overall. 25% reminder.
PVE
On the Raids lies a immense ammount of pressure, that is for sure. GW2 HOT, if you like it, if you belive it or not, will be judged by how good the Raids actually are! Yes PvP will remain strong etc, but this is a thing i could promise you.
The Raid looked pretty funny so far, the new Monsters as i said earlier are also pretty neat. I heared that “the days of the beserker meta are over”, but i cant imagine it so far, eventhough i want to. My own concern, as a person who raided a lot, is that there is a need for changing the “dodge is everything” mechanic for PvE. The Raids will need unavoidable Damage, tanking, healing and support mechanics to be challanging because otherwise it will remain as the dodge and zerk as much as you can thing and the boss , the mechanics etc wont even matter. Even if players would have to take a special weapon or tool within the raid or whatever.
Dungeons will have to be reworked or get a vastly better AI in addition to a different loot to be rewarding and still attractive. This concern is as strong as the one about the Raids.
Finally i had a lot of fun with Hot so far and i can recommend bying the expension for everyone so far. Last but not least, the Revenant is amazing.
(edited by Amaya.1483)
This is no QQ, no troll, nothing but a serious question. How will you make PVE more rewarding, challening?
From what i know, you would have to fix the whole AI of this Game, change the rewards of every Dungeon out so far, rework them if the AI doenst apply and you would make the Raids this difficult, that only dodge and dps isnt nearly enough. Talking about tanking, healing, supporting etc besides other mechanics like getting to XY and doing XY.
That would be really, really interesting and i havent heared nor have i seen much about that. I have to say tho, the new mobs of HOT are way better yes.
You are welcome
Well i heared that kind of thing while watching a stream, so i dont remember who of Anet said this, but is that a thing? If so, that means you will fix the whole AI of the game and every Dungeon? Im curious, because this would be a good thing and make the lives of some peole easier like Necros or Rangers i guess.
Also, how will you make the Raids hard? Does that mean you will change the simple fact until now that dodging and movement is everything and will make tanks, healers, supporter and dds a thing in GW2? Ofc iam aware it wont be in the classic way of other mmos…
((shrug)) What PvE is hard? DH still has access to the utilities that make Guardians desirable in fractals and no one has seen the raids yet in meaningful fashion. So what PvE are you saying Dragonhunter sucks at?
The GUARDIAN has it all, Dragonhunter is literally not needed whatsoever… iam pretty sure he meant that.
I have played every profession now til satisfaction and ever other profession besides the Berserker, which felt just ok, was amazing. The Synergy of all the new Elite traitlines was so fun, everything fits in.
Really? You found 8 out of 9 Especs suit you perfectly? That’s amazing. Sound’s like HoT is a HUGE SUCCESS then, assuming you’re the center of the universe.
I’m shocked you played them all and didn’t notice a single issue regularly being reported… Sure, Herald is grossly overpowered (I’ve come to expect that from its lead dev…) and therefore amusing/fun. But lets get a little more non-farcical lay of the land.
- Elementalist/Tempest. Horn skills are limp, Overload mechanic runs counter to everything about the class’ fast cycling attunements, Worst Elite skill of any Espec hands down… Twice. And is rightly accused of bringing nothing new to an already flexible and potent class.
- Engineer/Scrapper. They got spirit weapons… Let me say that again… they got spirit weapons. We’re talking the worst of the worst of Guardian tools. If you think that’s cause for celebration over there, you’re mad.
- Necromancer/Reaper. Largely entertaining as a chill/tank but not a single Necro player thinks its going to make them more popular in group activities. Its just another melee class with terrible team support.
- Ranger/Druid. You could power a small city on the nerdrage surrounding a pure healer role being thrust on players that have been trying to be taken seriously as ranged DPS for three years. Synergy between lines you say? I DEFY YOU to point at how anything in the druid works with the Ranger class mechanic of having a pet.
- Thief/Daredevil. The complaining about the lack of increased endurance inflow LITERALLY NEVER STOPS.
- Warrior/Berseker. SSDD — same skill, different day, Heck their new utility line is a re-paint of a line they already have.
- Mesmer. Ok, there is one existing profession that’s sitting there like a cat with a feather poking out of the corner of its mouth. Good for them. Something to do now that they broke PU’s neck.
This grass is greener crap needs to STOP. The funny thing about being in a good place? It means our branch/sub-classes should not be better, and given only a few hours of play had better be a bit worse than our most highly tuned alpha predator builds. Dragonhunter is shaping up and with practice will be a deadly competitor in every mode. If you don’t want to play it, FINE. But quit fantasizing that you represent the center of some universe that’s dragging the rest of the playerbase along in its wake.
Well, i dont know if you are dumb or just want to pick up a fight, nvm. I said i played them til satisfaction and had really much fun, i dindnt say they were perfect or whatever and i dont even care about it. They are much better than the DH and this is a fact, that is it. You probably just need some agression training and see what other players are able to do with the new professions and how they (almost) all react to a common thing … ^^
Edit : forgot one thing, picking one sentence and adressing your whole point on it without relation to the rest i wrote, answers my question if you are d…. calm down.. real.
(edited by Amaya.1483)
I have played every profession now til satisfaction and ever other profession besides the Berserker, which felt just ok, was amazing. The Synergy of all the new Elite traitlines was so fun, everything fits in. The Dragonhunter has nothing of it and im not exaggerating if i say, it is the reason why there are almost no Dragonhunters out on this BWE and the reason why noone will use it when it comes out. Even every streamer so far says, Dragonhunter is the absolute failure, the worst thing ever made… literally, go watch some.
I already adressed a few things, but here are some more.
-Why has the Guardian no 25% speed buff, when every other class has it, can obtain it and some of them have even perma swiftness with absolute ease? The Guardians perma swiftness comes with immense drawbacks
-Signet if Courage is so far not even worth thinking about
-Sword 2 skill has no use without a target, while every other teleport skill can be used by just beein smart if they are like the mesmer staff 2 for example
-The longbow has absolutely no synergy with the rest of the guardians abilitys and no defense whatsoever, it is very clunky and dps are way to low for it
-the dragonhunter traitline is almost exclusively designed for the longbow, which makes it just even worse, instead of making everything have profits from it. Why do i ask?!
-the role of a Dragonhunter is not even existing, there is absolutely no need whatsoever for this profession, because everything he does, can be done better by another profession
It sounds really harsh, but that is how it is. I had a blast with every profession, yet berserker was fun, but the Dragonhunter is frustrating!! It reflects everything what is wrong the the Guardians developing (which is no suprise, because the paladin class is like this in every mmo) and with the new expansion, things just came to light. I love Guardian but there is no need for something which is left out over and over again.
Instead of giving us Runes of the Traveler, you should implement a 25% flat movement speed buff on a traitline. Eventhough everything got better, i cant change my opinion on those traps, elite skill, grandmaster traits, minor and major. Just beeing better and not garbage, doenst mean they are compareable to whats already there. Sure people can say now, Dragonhunter was kinda ok, or even decent. But so far, its still better if you dont chose to be a Dragonhunter.
I have looked into all other professions forum now and there are minor to no complainments and if, it is very factual. It pretty much reflects what i experienced so far, the Dragon Hunter is sadly, so far, a failure. I already explained why.
Is this a final Problem? No not at all, but it will be a problem, if you, dear Arenanet Team, refuse to admit, that implementing a already failed game mechanic (traps) as a new feature to a class which already has a completely failed game mechanic (ghost weapons), was a good Idea, because its not. I know people arent always impartial when it comes to things they like, but neither are people dumb or all whiny kids and it is no shame to admit, that some peole actually know better than you sometimes do. It is just a shame to not change obviously bad things.
(edited by Amaya.1483)
So from my experience, you did quite a good work on fixing some issues, i liked it playing with the longbow! But, did i liked it to be a Dragon Hunter? That is a “No” from me. Let me explain why
Positive things about the Dragonhunter :
1) The longbow itself feels ok in terms of strengh
2) The new Virtues are really good
3) Spear of Justice also criples on passive
Negative things about the Dragon Hunter
1) Symbol of Energy feels weird
2) Purification isnt as nearly as good as the already existing healing skills
3) Traps are really, really bad compared to every other skill the Guardian has until now, even Ghost Weapons are superior
4) The New Elite Skill is really, really bad
5) The actual Synergy between the Longbow and every other thing what a Guardian can do and has to offer is almost non existent
6) The traits also offer very little Synergy with the rest of the Guardians abilitys
7) Pure Sight is really, really bad for a Minor Grandmaster trait
8) The Major Grandmaster traits are all pretty bad, especially the Big Game Hunter
9) My Damage overall feels pretty low compared to other professions
10 ) The worst part is that we / I have to sacrifice a traitline for beeing a Dragonhunter (for getting the new virtues to be exact) which are all offering much better synergy, power, feeling and that makes the Dragonhunter traitline like a redundant one if i summarize it. Like it is now, Guardians are simply much better without beeing a Dragon Hunter.
Suggestions :
1) Remove the Traps and Elite skills and make new ones
2) Rework the Major Grandmaster traitline of the Dragonhunter
3) Change Pure Sight to a 25% passive movement speed
4) Change the weapon Swap cooldown when beeing a Dragonhunter / carryig a Longbow down to 5sec
5) Reduce virtue of courage cd down to 50sec
6) Increase Sword Damage overall Weapon Damage and lower Symbol Damage
7) Change Sword skill 2 to beeing able to use when having to target
I dont think that Guardians will die out, because Guardians are freaking awesome super nice <3<3<3<3 (…), but it is nearly a promise, that NOONE will use the Dragonhunter for any serious measures. The thing is also, while Dragonhunter feels OK in pve and really bad in PvP, other “new” professions like reaper, druid and every other feel like WOAH HOLY THATS AWESOME.
(edited by Amaya.1483)
DH need something usefull. Why? Did anyone played hammer/greatsword ever? Well I did. It is average build with fewer blocks and defensive skills. You can die really easy. So why is it bad for DH. Well virtues are on cast time (you can’t break stun), 1 projectile blocking from LB. You will be destroyed by mesmers and thieves really easy in pvp or wvw if you are going for Gs/LB or H/LB.
But as I have already The Juggernaut and Sunrise I can combine that with LB. Probably will use Sunrise because theres no Glacial heart in hammer builds anymore.
We just need new F4 ability with passive 25% movement trait + 1 sec AOE daze and 6 sec vigor on activation + 25 sec cd for it. We are not asking some unrealistic stuff, just small thing for survival.
Yeah you are right, i cant stress this enough, but i want that freaking 25% movement speed, i want my sword 2 skill to be usefull WITHOUT having a target.
Whats the coolest profession? Guard! Best look, best style, best feeling. Worst combat, worst mobility, worst frustration ever. Thats why Iam a Warrior or something else and its killing me.
Dear beloved Guardian, when I started playing Guild Wars 2 I immediately fell for the aura of a Guardian. The Armor, Style and role seemed to be a perfect match for me and I did had a lot of fun when I first leveled my Charakter up.
But like in every relationship after a short time I began to notice the issues Guardian had from my point of view. It was not the fact that at that point in the Game, Warriors where absurdly overpowered or anything like that.
It was simply the feeling that Guardians werent loved by their creators as much as I hoped for. Sure I do understand that a Players affection to their Charakter / Profession goes beyond any logic and results therefore in many QQ feelings and threads, but it could not be helped, that feeling didnt go away. I do love the Style, Armor, Role and Feeling the Guardian gives when I watch them Ingame or on Youtube up to today, but ar the same time I cannot fight against the feelings I have when Iam actually playing a Guardian. I dont want to go over detailed balance issues or whatsoever, since I dont feel like Iam suited to do that, but rather I want to explain what the issue I mentioned so often now is.
It is the actual fighting. Despite its look, a Guardian feels like a Tank on the Battlefield. Not relating to Power, but rather for how I feel like when Iam moving around the World. I dont feel like I could escape any edgy Situation at all or make some “suicide” moves when engaging a overwhelming force or whatsoever. In addition to that comes the fact, that a Gurdians attacks are terrible easy to read from my point of view, if it isnt a teleport. Everything just feels so slow and therefore a Guardian doenst hit like a truck, when I do compare a Dungeon solo run from a Warrior to a Guardian one, it shows this in a impressive way. I could do (almost?!) everything faster, more effective and more dynamic when Iam playing a different profession, like for example the mentioned Warrior. It feels very undynamic, stucked, yeah kinda numb.
My wish would really be, that I could also have the infamous 25% movement Speed, which every class will have with the expension from HoT. I would also really enjoy it, if I could use my Sword skill to teleport even without having a target. Those are my wishes and there isnt even a complain about some other obvious issues when it comes to other abilitys / traits in it, because what is really important for me, is the feeling I get when Iam playing my Class. That thing, Iam doing with passion and much, much time over and over again and it is that thing, from what I do think, it is the one and only Key to keep players, despite balance stuff. Everything comes down to the feeling you experiencing when playing a Game and as long as I feel underprivileged / unloved, Iam playing a different profession and will cheat to you my beloved one. Iam sorry.

There is no need to make QQ threads… seems like most of guard threads are QQ
I guess it is because something is seriously wrong.
The value of HoT isn’t just in specializations, or even in a new profession. Part of the value, for me anyway, is masteries, guild halls, gliding, and the continuation of the story. The story, from what little I played in the betas, is pretty good. I like the way it’s being handled. It feels darker than previous stories, which I like.
Basically it’s like saying I’m going to stop watching Lord of the Rings after the first movie. Well you can, but you won’t get the rest.
Masteries are the new form of progression, something I’ve been waiting for a long time. Want to instantly grab your loot instead of interacting with a key? Better level that pact commander mastery. Want to craft your own precursor for a legendary weapon…you need HoT. Want to glide over the jungle, use bouncing mushrooms, or talk to the hylek and learn their secrets…you need masteries.
The new specializations are cool and all, but I’m more interested in the new maps and new stories and I know a lot of people are more interested in raids.
And of course, the release cadence is going to increase afterwards, and you won’t be able to experience that new stuff without HoT.
Thank you!
The only toxicity I’ve seen as a result of F2P is “veterans” being toxic to those F2P people. I’ve not experienced any toxicity coming from people who are playing the game for free. On the other hand since the update every single time something negative happens they get the blame. So the answer to your question is yes, F2P is causing toxicity in the community since people are being toxic towards them
This. A few friends of mine came to this came it the exact thing happened to them, not beeing able to zerker-knoweverythingspeedrundungeon asap. I think it doenst matter if its f2p, its people are beeing rude and actually kittens. thats it.
Well, i was wondering, what happens if i find myself completely disapointed from my new “Elite Specialisation” ? What if my old form was actually better? Do i get stucked with my old traits forever and no innovation? Will i be forced to switch class then or play the new one? I`m really asking myself what the expension brings besides all that. Its not a QQ or trollthread, im serious asking here. Please enlighten me!
Hmm i really wouldnt call that op.. Warrior can do the exact same thing alrady, trice…. ^^
I don’t get why damage output is an issue anyways … reminds us again how bad our damage is compared to other classes? Oh right.
/sigh… ^^
1.) Ok i will give you that, but why not rather increase dmg AND make this change? My point here is to increase the mobility of guardians, which is one of the worst things about them right now imo.
Hello Anet, maybe this will never be written but it cant be helped. This time without salt :
1) Enable Sword Skill 2 to teleport without a Target
2) Remove Ghost Weapons for Movement Signet and healing / Slow abilities
3) Remove Traps from Dragonhunter and rework the traits as consequence
4) Reduce Dragonhunter F2 cooldown for the leap
SALT : Guardian is maybe the coolest class, but the love it gets is even below hell.
Thank you for hearing me out anyway.
Hy Anet! When I saw the Dragonhunter topic first i was like “hmm … meehhh”, just because the name is overused/cliche at its maximum.
Then I saw the actuall Video from you on Youtube and I was underwhelmed.
Then I thought “hmm, maybe Iam wrong and the Community know better”, so I looked it up.
Then I saw that the Community hates the Dragonhunter.
Then I started to think “Anet, thats garbage, change that please”.
-Longbow on a Guardian is already lame and has like zero relation to this class
-Traps are even worse
-no 25% Movement speed trait/sigill
-Traitline is underwhelming
-Skills are so static, it feels like you will transform guardians to actuall guards. the ones made out of stone…
-last but (still) least, the ghostweapons are literally useless… new exp, new chance!
-> Guardians want to be mobile and it would be better if you would give them a axe or a shortbow… and some other things, but this is just bad. I dont want to say much more about it, my overall topic should just be, that Anet notices, that they have done an awful job here…

Sample : If 5 People do not ready up in 2 Minutes before start, game wont start
Sample : If one Person of one doenst show up until 2-3 Minutes, game can be played to end, but wont be rated..
PLS
Thank your for that Movie, was a plesure to watch
HI@
PLS buff Ele. Its just horrible annoying getting flamed like “dude, your cripling your Team because you Chose Ele in Tpvp”… and ist kinda true. The Risk/Reward is rediculous on Ele compared to ALL other classes who just can faceroll you to death without being even a little skilled…..
