We’re all new at some point
Sup Soul. It’s decadas xD
Yes, ele is the best for solo fotm. It’s a bit less effective at solo since the defiance nerf. I always went ele, unless bored.
Go to hero panel. You can activate segments in the story section.
If the stories could be a little less “flower power” and a LOT more serious…
That is all. /Feedback
You can always run 2 ascended sets, one with 5/5 and the other one with 150 ar
Or you can have 5x 16 agony infusionsI don’t understand the rant. This is literally the only “long-term goal”(even tho it takes like a kittening month to get then there’s nothing left to do anyway) in the game. If even this got easier…
Seriously. These infusions were implemented in the game before HoT.
Along with HoT, we had modifications to the infusions.
> Anet didn’t correct their game. YES it’s a rant. Just as much as a bloody rant one can still have about how things expected for release weren’t even slightly ready.
(OH HEY, i’ll further this.) The infusions cost roughly 3000g+ prior to HoT. The value of gold has gone up massively since the expansion. Fair to say my infusions are now worth something like 5000g? And now it’s sat in my inventory like the many pieces of trash loot one can receive throughout the game. (The infinite variations of champ chests springs to mind – was that really neccessary? How to make a visual clutter 101)
Now that I haven’t been playing the game (quit a month after HoT), an outside perspective of Anet is quite frankly embarrasing.
The amount of problems production has had should worry any current-player.

If you want a good story, single player RPGs are that way ->
Seriously, go play witcher 3, its one of the best story telling and story progression in a game I’ve ever seen.
This is an MMORPG.
Most of the ppl didn’t buy it to play story mode…….
I certainly didn’t make this purchase and expected some amazing, grand story….CONTENT thats what makes and breaks MMORPG…..not story mode lol.
most ppl could care less if the story is disappointing……I for one am glad anet didn’t spend a lot of time and resources into such an unimportant aspect of an expansion….
This is idiotic lol
No, idiotic is what you people expected anet to do, which was spend a lot of time and resources into the story when in fact, its not the most important aspect of an MMORPG expansion….
some of you maybe well invested or care deeply about it…. but don’t call me idiotic when anet seemed to agree with me by not wasting too much resources/time into story….
disagree and bash me all you want, but anet is also saying “we’ll we don’t want to spend too much time and manpower into this part, we would rather focus our time and efforts in other areas of the expansion that is actually going to be played more than once”…..
Also did you ppl just forget about a thing called LIVING STORY?
That is the true STORY mode for this game, which will be continued and back on track in the near future…. not this nonsense personal story crap …
Nah, he was right… this is idiotic. A HUGE majority of Guild Wars fans play the game for the story and the lore. I mean, who the kitten plays a fantasy game like this if not partly or wholly for the story that could be made. (note the COULD). The living story was even worse than the personal stories from both the core GW2 and the expansion. Please, don’t actually waste resources on that crap. THAT IS THE CRAP, that took up so many resources that this expansion received kitten all time and effort.
@ Vayne
In regards to your statement of GW2 being Buy-to-play, given that the free-to-play accounts closer resemble an unlimited demo, I have to say you are undoubtably wrong. The argument of the game being F2P isn’t thwarted by small restrictions on the account, because the main problem with F2P in P2P games is botting – RWT and market imbalance. They can bot for unlimited amounts of time, farm ridiculous amounts of money, buy the game and then sell everything. Botting always exists, but having access to F2P accounts makes the process so much more open, you can work that out for yourself.
In regards to this thread; I’ll copy and poste my reply from the OP’s link.
“I actually really liked the story and lore in GW1. I thought it was well presented for the budget and capabilities they had at the time. Sure some is cheesy, but any GW2 story is just laughable in comparison.
I agree with almost everything this video has, and have done for a while. A lot of the issues were present since the start of the game. I’m glad this is starting to happen. Arenanet need to sort their kitten out immediately.
I played all the way up to a couple weeks after HoT release, then I quit, and I am not going back. It’s over, Anet had enough time and failed along every step with GW2.?”
Max 24 amps at 12 volts is a tad low for a “500” watt PSU but should be enough to support a GTX 750 even a GTX 750Ti. Problem is your price range is too low for either of these cards. The cheapest GTX 750 is 85£.
This looks to be the most promising.

Thanks for the link! Looks like a good pick.
After some research, radeon 7770 is better than gtx 750 according to some charts.
Anyway, I found this http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00FSC513G?keywords=radeon%20hd%207770&qid=1436693135&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1
Would this be any good?
GeForce GTX 650
1,832 – g3d mark
Radeon R7 250
1,413 -g3d mark
I read somewhere that the GTX 650 outperforms the GTX 750 too, but the chart says otherwise… This goes straight over my head.
P.S i’m not going for anything great. Just something playable, like 30 fps. Even my home PC goes down to 20fps in some situations, which i’m mostly fine with.
(edited by Animism.9803)
Here is the psu, by my look seems that it’s ok? My home PC has a 550W or so PSU, with an 8 core bulldozer.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tesla-500TE-BR-500W-ATX-Switching-Power-Supply-/301587731747
And by wooden, I was being sarcastic as to how old this pc is
The GTX750 looks good, out of interest, how does it fare in comparison to the radeon hd 7770? That’s what I have on my home pc (albeit my CPU bottlenecking for games)
I need to fix up an old wooden pc to play GW2;
specs
AMD athlon II X4 640 @ 3ghz
4gb ram
Ati radeon HD 5400 cough cough
Could anyone recommend a graphics card around the £50-60 region that would work well? I’m presuming that the CPU is actually ok. Currently in mai solos with 10-12 fps. Good times. xD
Thanks
Sure it is their opinions and I won’t take it away from them but we should not even try to understand what they are upset about. Some may be upset that the water in their tub today was cold and they blame it on Anet.
Some people just have to have an opinion, even if that opinion is ill informed or advised. Mainly because people like to think of themselves as important, with important things to say. Unfortunately this is not always true.
This thread is no different.
While the downvote system in reddit does get abused the plus side is that the community overall does a good job to remove stupid opinions.
There’s no such thing as a stupid opinion.
Actually we got tons of stuff with EotN. Mucho maps, Mucho story! Much feature.
Yea yea, again lets compair again after the release of HoT.
In my opinion so only from the information we have got now HoT will bring us mucho map size, mucho story! and grande features.Mucho 3 maps. Judging from previous efforts for story and their interest in presenting and using the story as a selling device, I’d put my bets that it will again be sub-par. And grande features, we’ve had nothing of real substance since the release of the game, though from what has been announced, will likely be pretty decent.
Read again pls… I said SIZE not numbers. As for the story what you are saying is just an opinion on what you like or not and has nothing to do with it’s content. And for the rest of it you are just guessing. I am not gonna try to convince anyone to anything. If you don’t think it is enough then it isn’t enough for you. I on the other hand think it will be awesome as the rest of the game has been and I beleave that the Expansion is an expansion worth the title of an expansion.
Sorry if you thought i misread, i didn’t, essence still the same. And yes it is opinion, the point being, a pretty widespread opinion.

Can any one tell me , if the HoT xpac is a choise for the customers (they said core game works without it) then why there isnt any core game sale at the market? I was planing to buy 2 account for my nices before HoT, now ANET forcing me to buy the HoT to play the core game. I am not going to buy HoT for myself (playing since 2012) and i will not buy HoT for my nices.
While the core game will still have the FUTURES coming with the hot, so i am not going to pay 3 small map the 150$. If they realy call this an xpac make the other parts of the maps aka Desolated Sands , Orr , northern shiverpeaks, rest of the maguma ect ect. Shortly make the whole map that is shown when you push the M button.
ANET has waited 3 years for to make the first xpac of the Guild wars 2 and in that they have made a 3 small map which covers the 1/3 of maguma jungle.
You are trying to sell us some futures not an expansion. So stop calling this thing an expansion. I dont know what you did to your old Guild Wars 1 development team but if you fired them, call them back and let them teach your inexperienced develepment team how to make an expansion
Exp: Factions + Nightfall + Eye of the North
These are expansions , not this mutant you are forcing us to buy.
Factions and Nightfall is no expansion… Eye of the North is so compair what you got from EotN to what we will get from HoT After the release of HoT

This feels like a lot of loyal fans are incredibly displeased still, and the aim of a game expansion should be great news for all veteran players, whilst giving a hefty amount of interest for new players to join. I don’t think this is happening though. I’m skeptical, whilst feeling a bit bad for Anet. Maybe the fault lies with creative control, maybe Arenanet lost it to those who funded the game. Maybe they ran out of money initially and had to cut things short, changing what they had planned for the game and forcing constant small and pointless gem purchases that barely anyone is interested it.
You know what, if GW2 was subscription based, and the quality was relative, i’d subscribe to the bloody thing… But i’m sick of seeing so much emphasis on gem sales.

You will actually be receiving both for the price of one, because Anet is generous to new players! Your point about the time-frame they have had to produce this expansion though is SPOT ON. 3 years, 3 maps. Are they working on Windows 95?
Also, LOL at the GW1 developer content, I fully agree. Get the original lore writers and the original team to have more creative control
Having read most of the pitchfork threads before, most of the people said that they would be fine with a character slot added to the offer.
Now they have added that and people say “but it’s only a character slot”, “but it’s only if you pre-purchase”… And then the remarkable “core game is still broken” which makes even less sense.
Now the deal is slightly more fair. Yes it should be for all existing accounts. And yes, the core game is broken.
All valid points.
FYI… Didn’t Anet say at some point that the personal story would be revamped? I haven’t seen anything in a long time regarding it, who knows…
I like your honesty, and I’m sure those a big issues (i’m not a big WvW’er or pvp’er), but I feel other issues with the core game should also be up here. COUNTLESS amounts of bugs and inadequacies. Solo instance loss upon Dc’s, no personal story revamp which did not go down well, Lupicus wall bug? lmao. The list could go on forever with fixes that quite obviously should have much more priority than perhaps the questionable marketing strategy of the living world, which wasn’t a great success, nor an abject failure – I really, really hope they got the picture of what players want for the story, and that the previous presentation and lore just wasn’t up to scratch for us. There’s another ridiculous one I’ve seen with Tazza at the end of SE. Do whirlwind into the wall where people commonly pull here (actually much much closer, in range of the commander also). Movement and whirlwind causes the game to break and her aggro to be lost and reset. Meanwhile, I see Anet trying to cripple and stop people from doing meaningless things like hopping over the walls of a finished fractal, really shows where priorities lie? I honestly don’t understand how the companies resources are being allocated.
The only valid argument now is to hold out on pre-purchase if you feel you have too little information to deem if YOU subjectively feel the content of the xpac is not worth $50.
Many others DO believe the content is worth it and have now signed up – myself included now that veterans got the extra character slot added from yesterday’s pre-purchase bonus.
Stating that the xpac should be cheaper is your subjective wish and clearly not shared by a large number of players who have already opted in. It’s not just HoT but as a B2P+ game, I’m regarding this as payment+support for the next 2 years or so until we get the next expansion after that.
Anet is a company that needs money to keep developing this game; since the pre-purchase community address yesterday, I – at least – feel they are proceeding forward with decency in their effort to earn money with these pre-purchases.
You’re in every right to want more information before you opt in, but please stop with your subjective valueing of the expansion. On one hand, you’re asking for more information before you pre-purchase, but on the other hand, lacking that you’re more than willing to reduce the expansion’s value well aware that there is more to this expansion that we know so far…
Whilst it is subjective, the amount of people who have pre-ordered the game I HIGHLY doubt would count as anything near to ‘a large amount’. Now, I know a ‘large’ amount of players who won’t play GW2 for reasons, many who are awaiting information regarding them, which if not involved, will simply quit, I may be one of them. Again… veteran players who don’t pre-order will not get a character slot. It shouldn’t be regarded as a freebie, more what is expected after years of the company developing… Seems like a tactical con to clear the animosity and encourage people to pay before they actually know the substance of what they’re getting. If you only want to roam around Guild Halls, or sit in 3 maps with likely repetitive and boring world events (world events weren’t exactly a huge success), then I am glad that you are happy to pre-purchase, I have nothing against that and fair play to you. The concern is with the rest of the fans and people who would be fans if they did something. This character slot malarky is just another knife in the back.
Many people that seem so happy about the char slot are also forgetting 1 thing: char slots can be bought with in game gold in a matter of days.
People have been easily blinded by the char slot that arenow hailing Anet as gods. I find it pathetic as it doesnt address the main issue.
That you aren’t getting the expansion for free? That you don’t consider the 7000 hours of game time you’ve already gotten as being worth the price you paid? Was this a problem when the game was being sold for $10? Is this a problem when the prices of other games go down over time?
You’re claiming other players are “easily blinded”, but doesn’t seem that there’s anything ArenaNet could do to satisfy you.
What would it take?
A reasonable story and presentation please, NOW! Myself and many others have waited too long to see what should have been a great and core part of GW2. And yes, people are easily blinded, how is the game being sold after time for new players at a lower price an issue? that’s common place… The issue arises when they offer the same, with no benefit to veteran players, which they have partially fixed, ONLY if you have the balls to pre-order! Which, I don’t, given the issue above ^^^ that has been well-known since release – and still not addressed as anything big.
Offering a free char slot will not make me buy the expansion pack.
I supported Anet by buying Gw2 at release means full price. Now they are asking another 50$ for the expansion. Which means a total of 100$ which doesnt exclude my final point = new players are still paying half of what I would have to pay for the same price.
So thanks for the char slot Anet but I will still not buy the expansion for 50$ I ll give my money to a less greedy company.
This is coming from a player with 25k hours in Gw1 and about 7k in Gw2. I was pretty devoted until this.
I feel sorry! I didn’t quite have that many hours on GW1, but I ranked it as one of the best games I’d ever played, obviously opinion, but it was right up there with the likes of Final Fantasy 7, which should be a huge compliment, obviously Square Enix… laaaarge. Over the release of GW2 i’ve lost so much faith in the company though. Not just the way that we seem to get screwed over as veteran players for the playerbase to grow – through the smallest actions, but also through how the company views and changes the game based on feedback – which lets face it, is mostly from the most loyal of players who would create more motivation for $$ payments in the gem store. I give Arenanet credit for doing this in attempt to grow the playerbase, but boy… do I wish they would address the real biggy concerns with the game. A quick google search of opinions on the GW2 personal story spews the dissatisfaction.
I don’t really agree with this as a means of solving the price issue. The whole “it’s an extra $10 of value” is less convincing when you don’t really have a use for it. For me, and everyone I was hoping to convince to come back to the game it’s like getting a free winter coat with a vacation to the tropics. I already had a spare character slot a from a while back, and all my friends only had one or two characters. Sure, if they get back into it they might like that extra character slot, but that requires a prohibitive investment before that value shows.
There’s also the issue that it’s just another pre-order bonus. If I don’t jump on it now I lose any “veteran appreciation.”
Now wait what? Are you saying that the free bonuses should be something that will bring back players that have left, before the expansion hits? They freekin gave you a bonus becouse they gave new buyers a bonus, it wasn’t even planned to have that and now becouse of commuunity wishes (as many have wished for a free slot) They have given “us” a free characters slot for pre-ordering! Now you are complaining that it isn’t enough but you give them no what so ever information of what would make your friends to log in to play again with this bonus you got? Also I am starting to dislike this ‘I am a Veteran I should have some free stuff!’ No you are a freekin veteran and you should have enjoyed GW2 for 3 years and you should have alot of neat stuff that no new player will ever have the chance to get, I know I have atleast.
So ungreatfull.
You’re saying that trying to appeal to a larger player base by addressing main concerns that deter the largest amount of players is something with no benefits? Also, the character slots WERE expected. Anyone who played all the GW1 games will have expected it. Yes, we do have expectations as loyal fans… and we expect Anet to know what they are given the mistakes they could have learned from (to be fair, it seems like this is a big point, but the things that went WELL, have been forgotten)
Wow, I’m kinda impressed and shocked at the same time. Not about Anet, I think it’s good that the company did some reflection on their marketing strategies.
In fact I’m really shocked about our community here. You “only” get the free charslot if you pre-purchase? So if you instantly pay 50$, with still no additional info about the content? And if you choose to take your right to wait and decide later on, you won’t get the charslot? Wow, just wow. Again, kudos to ArenaNet for taking this step. But the comm…. ugh, sometimes I don’t get this world anymore. Everything’s just forgotten and great+shiny all over again. Sigh…
I still wont pre-purchase since the real problems haven’t even been dealt with imo. Gosh, I’m 23 years old and already feel to old for this stuff.
Edit @Nanashi
Thank god I’m not the only one who feels stunned and kind of empty from the reactions we see here. Its a classic and time honored tactic. People are just so simple that they are still falling for it. Present a truly terrible option. Let people rage about it to the point of insanity. Provide a token peace offering (refunds for being mislead and character slot that should have been in the base offering). All the marks are perfectly fine at this point with the slightly less terrible offering (still unclear what it is that you are actually paying for and the peace offering is only if you blindly accept the slightly less terrible offering and give up your money without clarity on what you are paying for).
Don’t get me wrong…its decent that they corrected the mistakes. I also have some doubts that they would made the mistake intentionally…since this is brand damaging. What I think happened is that their PR department came up with this tactic as a way out of a bad situation….just with the hopes that sheep won’t see past the token…through to the persisting original issue…ambiguous value for purchase amount. I think its slimy how they are trying to pressure pre-purchases, with the character slot, that should be included regardless of pre or post purchase.
I’m in the camp that this move shouldn’t elicit all the praise and adulation ANET is getting right now…since I’m pretty sure the level of public backlash, across so many venues, is the real reason for this back peddling on the character slot and more comprehensive refunds. This wasn’t a goodwill gesture…its a public relations bail out. Like many others have said, there were tons of opportunity via forum feedback on the need to include a character slot to play the revenant…that were just ignored. This lack of the slot wasn’t an accident or an oversight…it was a strategy that blew up in their faces. They are still trying to hold onto that strategy, to an extent, now…by limiting the character slot to blind pre-purchases only.
Completely agree. I’d only add that the tactic removes the animosity from so many others issues, sort of makes us all even more blind.
Like many others, I’m a veteran player who was holding off purchase as a silent vote in the desire for a positive response to the issues the community has brought up. I think the response is pretty fair, wish they would have thrown in a little something more for the upper editions but I still bought Ultimate.
While there still seems to be a fair amount of misunderstanding about the new policy, at least in this thread, I guess that’s to be expected. What’s a bit more surprising to me is the way people are boiling this down into some kind of algebraic problem to solve for the value of HoT. Maybe it’s how used to entertainment being “free” people have gotten, and maybe those people don’t play much and it really may not be worth it to them. But as someone who’s had thousands of hours of enjoyment from this game, the cost per hour is laughably low regardless.
If you enjoy the game, and appreciate the way that Living Story and frequent updates feed you content year-round, you will understand and appreciate that HoT (or any expansion) gives them a platform to continue providing that content by paying their people and keeping their investors happy. To me it’s bizarre to think that for someone there’s a magical alchemy, number of bullet points in the release notes that will “make” the expansion worth $50 as opposed to $40.
So yeah, no one can tell you how to spend your money, but if you derive even a couple of hours of fun from the game each week I can’t see how $50 every few years is not more than worth it. If you need more complicated math than that, then you either don’t really like the game, have a budget so limited that games in general may not be a good use of funds, or you just enjoy being dramatic and getting worked up over minutia.
Well… it was quite a tactical move. The game was offered with no subscription, so feeding in that we get all these free hours is a bit of a moot point. In addition to this, a huge amount of players were not satisfied with the living story, nor many aspects of the initial release, some of which still have not been changed and deter so many players. I don’t like the response of “if you don’t like it, go play another game”, because clearly we like this game… we just expect more, and we hope they will add what so many people have wanted for ages.
I don’t think this is so much for veteran players, as much as those who are willing to fork out the money for a pre-order. Someone else actually got it spot on, it feels like there is a big precedent on getting people to pre-order the game, perhaps not as confident in it as we would hope. If it is good, people will buy it – and my main concern here, is that this ‘community’ response, did not actually address the majority of concerns that there are for the expansion. One of the big issues, since the very release of GW2 has been the story; lore and presentation, and ever since the release, I have seen nothing addressing it. I do hope Anet has something in store for us, because many of the issues deter a huge amount of players from GW2. I actually say this in positivity, as GW2 could always be so much more popular. If us veteran players who don’t want to pre-order, which is reasonable, given the little information we actually have, and little clarification around so many concerns as of yet, we will presumably be buying the game for the same price, with no character slot? Now, forgive me if I’m wrong. But pre-orders are quite commonly for early access, I understand rewarding people more, but not adding a character slot for the existing accounts which upgrade? Seems cheeky. This only makes me more skeptical as this response seemingly took a long time to occur, with minimal action and in actuality, a fraction of the concern with the game dealt with. The praise that is being given for an issue that was quite frankly so obviously going to occur baffles me, though I don’t mean to degrade those who do wish to give thanks naturally. This isn’t meant to be so much as an Anet bash, as a wake up call to staff and perhaps some players, and I do thank Anet for looking at the forums and addressing concerns, but it seems like quite the tactful resolve in removing that animosity that was all over the forums, when it has changed nothing. You’ve addressed the issue that shouldn’t have been an issue, and offered refunds to those who purchased the game up to six months ago?
“We set out on this journey to challenge the conventions of MMOs”
Challenge them! Another point I missed, is that a lot of players who are disinterested in the game due to some issues will simply not come to forums, not everyone does (even I struggle sometimes to write about a game which I play, and am ultimately not completely satisfied with, when I have other things I could or should do). Forget the price tag people, they can put a £100 price tag on it for all I care, but if they do so, it has to live up to it. So my fingers are crossed for the updates that GW2 badly needs for its player base to grow substantially.

Guys, there’s a term “Time value of money.” At its most basic level it means that money now is worth more than money later. Similarly, getting into an MMO at the ground level is worth more than getting into it later. You’ve had much more time to play the game and many more opportunities to progress than new players.
Let’s say that back when GW2 first came out, you went to buy it and were given an offer. You can buy the game now at full price and play it, OR wait for three years and you’ll get the game for free when you buy the expansion. I guarantee most if not all of you would have went with the buy now option. The core game was worth more when it came out than it is now. The new players are not getting a better deal than you.
The game price constantly gets lowered for new players to have an ‘easy’ path to start playing the game…………………. Is that not enough?

Ok! If I understand carefully what you guys are saying, the cost is too much and the content not enough. Care to remind you guys that the game is a non subscribe game. And one expansion on 3 years for 50$ and you guy are freaking out? As I recall, most of the game now that are either paid to play or on consoles requires you to buy multiple expansion for 30$ on one year only. But hey one xpac for 50$ over 3 years is way more worth then you think boyz. Unhappy, quit whinning like baby and delete the game!
Exactly. People always forget about all the FREE content they recieved besides the 50$ core game.
So let’s say the expansion is worth 25$.
You pay another 25$ for having the living story and newcomers pay another 25$ for the core game.
Looks fair to me.
Yeah we probably shouldn’t bank on the idea of the living story being worth 25$, given the amount of people who did not like it.

Look back at GW1 :/ And it seems that Anet, after ‘wasting’? time on other adventures, have not had that full amount of time dedicated to an expansion, so it’s no wonder it is lesser…

This is GW2, we expect more, we are not receiving that.
Except that we can’t actually prove or disprove this claim in any way…. How much story content will there be at launch? What is the depth and amount of the “challenging group content”? How many maps will we have added total? How many unique events or mechanics will HoT add? Guild Halls alone are content that nothing like any previous content.
You know what CoD is like, and make a shallow comparison based on incomplete facts about HoT. The way I see it we are getting way more than CoD gets as DLC for one of their iterations already. You can’t compare maps in a shooter to GW2 maps at all.
Yes and they have opened pre-orders for the game, why? It’s one big fat no from me at the moment.

We don’t owe ArenaNet, but they don’t owe us either they are free to decide on the price of their goods (or in this case them and NCSoft most likely) just as much as we are free to either buy them or not.
I get that they are free to settle the prices as they see fit in order to keep up with the competition, but they are offering players who’ve invested thousands of hours into this game in the past 3 years absolutely nothing with those packages. No amount of extra goodies and early accesses can justify the prices they’re demanding for something with no set date.
So those thousands of hours of gameplay you’ve got from GW2 for no subscription fee and no obligation to buy gems, on top of pretty regular content updates are worth absolutely nothing?
Regular content updates? Oh… you mean that living world right? Yeah, it worked so well. /sarcasm

Pretty much yes… Amount of content compared to base game is so low that 45 euro feels like buying yet another CoD.
CoD, which ironically costs more than that…
And CoD’s DLC prices and content? The similarity and difference?
How is HoT similar to CoD DLC please elaborate… CoD DLC is nothing compared to HoT. Please pay attention to the post quoted before replying. I was asking that person how can one draw a parallel between HoT and CoD, they are not comparable at all.
Or are you implying HoT is nothing more than a rehashed cashcow like CoD is.
Please pay attention to the post quoted? Are you joking? You DID NOT ask that question in the post. Lmao.
No it’s a basic comparison, you don’t need to make it so literal. A DLC of CoD, you get what, a few new maps, some functionality stuff, a new gun, sound at all familiar? But this is CoD… where DLCs are much easier to create, the company actively creates them and openly creates them to that standard.
This is GW2, we expect more, we are not receiving that.

Did people go insane and claw the walls when they merged the original GW trilogy in to one pack for a lower cost?
Did they go mad and scream scream when WoW merged it’s first three expansions in to the base game cost?
I really fail to see what the big deal is.
Because GW1 expansions had content…………
Ah, so we’re basically buying a box or a nice loading screen with HoT then?
Come on man… no need to defend something that obviously has a relative size of a normal console game DLC pack, yet we waited a serious amount of time, and are paying way over twice or thrice the price…

As evidenced on these forums… the amount of people who likely feel the same about the content announced, that we would be receiving for the pre-order you just opened, is a bit too little to chew…
Can you please release a good trailer for the game alongside the pre-order announcement… or give us something of true value for HoT… The style or story hasn’t even been talked about, one of the main things holding a HUGE amount of players away from the game.
Please don’t turn this game into a joke… FF7 remake was announced, you have your work cut out for you in terms of the fantasy genre, and it feels the game is falling further away from what long-time fans wanted.
What actually happened to the story in GW2? Did the writer die or something? Did a five-year old finish it off? Did the companies budget run-out forcing a new plan for story cutscenes? WHAT HAPPENED? I’m not going to be polite about it anymore, you’ve had plenty of time to correct mistakes. (Before anyone argues about the story not being a mistake, talk to people who don’t play the game, and why they don’t)
The personal story, has to be one of the worst stories I’ve ever read, I’m sorry. I don’t know how it is actually possible to skip from the writing present in GW1 to that present in GW2, something I would like to see thoroughly explained. Another point – Why is the story in GW2 so… pixie-like? It’s so unbelievable… Lion’s arch gets destroyed and we get two lesbians (as if trying to hold some point or relevance) who talk as calmly as a finished session. It’s so out of whack…

"
Something being tolerated does not = core element of the game.
Thi is not GW1. Anet have made strong efforts in getting this point accross and are having a much tighter grip on this economy than they ever did in GW1. Dungeon selling is currently no violation against ToS, but I guaranteed you anet is not overjoyed about it going on. "
You just said it’s not the economy they are worried about. They are worried about RMT, because it’s unfair and they lose money. I don’t think Anet care about dungeon selling (and if they do – they probably shouldn’t), because let’s face it, the same circumstances arose in GW1, namely the way Shadow Form was used, even Spell Breaker. I bet they drove the devs mad, but it was a core element of the game. I.e, they couldn’t do anything about it, and in GW1, they attempted to nerf it constantly, literally kittening droves of people off.
I’m glad GW2 is not GW1… because I hope they learnt from their mistakes, and won’t forsake all their long time fans, even of the original style of lore.

And no, it is not a core element of the game. Which is made rather clear by the statement made that around 1% of the legit playerbase would be effected by the change. If it was a core element of the game it is rather likely that that number would have been bigger.
No, it have not been supported. It is POSSIBLE to do it, but something being possible doesn’t mean it is supported.
It is possible do do plenty of things everywhere, that doesn’t mean it is supported to do such things however.
That 1% number of those affected doesn’t cover the entirety of dungeon selling. The evidence of it being a core element is there every day, all day long…
Lordkrall, it kind of is a core element of the game, and in ways has been supported. Plus the post above does raise an eyebrow as to why they woulndn’t…
Our policy: Players may use the LFG Tool only for the formation of a group.
Players may use the tool to sell a spot in a group, but they may not use it to sell or trade items or for any other unintended purposes. Doing so will result in an account infraction.
“Businesses have been doing so for as long as there have been taxes. No reason why dungeon sellers and their customers in a computer game should be an exception”
Yeah, there is no comparison with real life businesses to dungeon sellers.
As someone else stated, the trading of items was a norm in GW1 due to the forced wallet size.
Here’s another point; Would Anet even want us FORCING players to pay by ecto? Artificial prices, something I’m sure they want to avoid given the reliance on an RNG system. On the other hand, maybe it’ll add real flow to the trading post.
I dont even know… Maybe to allow people to have fun playing the game the way they want to… Guild raffles are unsupported activities too but they help building the community, as well as many other “unsupported” things in this game. If something is unsupported that doesn’t necessarily mean you have to ruin it.
What if people are having fun by hacking? Should they start allowing that as well then?
Or maybe they are having fun by stalking or abusing people? Should that also be allowed then?No one is talking about ruining anything, but you seems to think that they should actively take UNSUPPORTED things into account when they are making changes to the game, which is silly.
Hacking is against the ToS while dungeon selling and any other service selling isnt.
People can sell all kinds of services as long as they find buyers. Dungeon selling just happen to cover larger audience. You can sell your skillpoints, karma, even powerleveling services. In GW1 people used to sell tours because mapping was painful for new characters. GW2 is a very casual game that’s why most of it is not needed. What I am saying is that gold transfer change ruins any kind of service selling and guild coordinated activities and 500g per week is in fact nothing.
If the goal was to limit potential income “per week” why not hurt TP barons and flippers? Trust me those guys have much more influence on game economy than any others. You can even safely state that they “hurt” game economy but no actions has been taken to limit their activities (how about limiting amount of TP transactions to 100 per week). TP flippers can literally acquire any in game items including legendaries without leaving Lions Arch and actually playing the game – and that is perfectly fine. However ANet decided to punish those who actually go out and play their game. Seems very odd to me.
Good post. The amount of players who sell on a daily basis – and players who buy, are evidence of how dungeon selling has become a core part of the game. GW1 was just the same, selling books, story tours, running to locations, powerleveling, something for everyone.
+1
Begs the question of why it takes Anet so long to fix such a small aspect. I saw a mod mention it weeks ago on the forums, heard nothing since.
Why should they change and/or cater changes to unsupported activities?
Unsupported activities?
Dungeon selling is a pretty integral part of the game now, even if a player-made idea.
It isn’t just for people wanting the harder paths fast, as I sell any and EVERY dungeon path, AC, CM, TA, Aether, Se, Arah, Fractals… Prices obviously vary to what is fair, and it is to gain tokens, dungeon master, drops from specific ones. If I were to sell an Arah path for 3g, you would be making 60 tokens for absolute free, just for a couple minutes of your time joining.
(AC, 1g daily gold award at the end, I sell the paths for around 2g, so you pay 1g for 60 tokens) Some people like this, and it has it uses. THAT is why dungeon selling has been around for ages now, and it will continue to be… Only updates seemingly target us, when we actually enjoy solo’ing and selling a dungeon… Plus it is the best money you can achieve if you do it well
Sorry, if this cap ends up hurting those who avoid the TP taxes or those who sell paths and jump puzzles, all the better IMO. Selling paths and portals would be like the Boy Scouts charging little old ladies to cross the street.
This is a very friendly co-op PvE game and between meta teams and player merchs, it’s difficult to get a team together outside of a guild to do a dungeon without the black mail of pay or be kicked when the party is almost finished. Bet you didn’t like the change to the kick rules either.
Well thanks for your opinion, but that analogy is nothing comparable to selling dungeon paths. There is a market for dungeon selling, because it can be beneficial for many people, hence there are buyers… hence me selling.
What you say about getting a team together is absurd, there are LFG’s going constantly whilst I sell my path. If you get kicked from a group doing a dungeon manually, that’s down to something else entirely.
So… yes… Anet DO need to change this in favor of people who are just trying to sell dungeons.
Hi anet…
I’m known quite well for selling dungeons all of the time… and when I do I easily surpass 500g in a week… So i’m just here to say… thanks for the next stick to reach around and stab me in the back.
There is NO GOOD WAY to make money in this game, lest you play the trading post – which is boring to most. So here is the next in a line of updates that seem almost targeted at dungeon sellers and those who are trying to make money in the game.
Please re-evaluate your gold cap, because it hasn’t been thought through… Either increase the cap amount, or remove it altogether.
EDIT—————
Why don’t you add a ‘merge’ gold from individual mails?
Let me explain: If I have reached my 500g weekly cap, and I still want to carry on selling… I will get stuck at 10 mails worth of gold… then couldn’t do any more…
Anet SHOULD counter this by being able to move the gold from mails into one or into a mail deposit, so we are able to clear our mail out and continue selling if we wish. —- Mails seem to currently stack up beyond the 10/10 mark I believe, and will reveal themselves as you remove some, however the former or what I suggested should still be done for clarity.

ISSUE: Lore cinematics & story presentation
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Animism.9803
Hi Anet, I guess i’ll bite.
Having been a fan for many years, avid fan of GW1, and keeping myself up to date with the HoT updates, I have a really nagging question that I feel I need to present again (it’s an issue I’ve raised multiple times previously, as have a huge number of friends in real-life and in-game that I know felt exactly the same, some who simply won’t play due to it)
With the release of the PoI videos, teasers and information given seems to be very vague as to how the story presentation will be in this new expansion, as many have complained about the lack of immersion through the current or previous story lines (including myself). – Just to clarify, I refer specifically to the main storyline cutscenes, as well as a majority of the living worlds story. This is one of the main points for me and many others for being interested in a game, so I would be remiss if I were not to ask for an answer regarding this?
Regards
In the long run , the scepter of orr was an orian artifact . The lich became a dragon minion in the original game . Shiro had been corrupted by the leviathans in factions and turned into a dragon minion-like being . Razah was the first reveneant ; And the mursaat were really trying to prevent the dragons return . The dragons all counter balance the gods in being the opposing power against them , thus rendering any of their magic useless . Zaitan = the dragon of undeath , which counter balances grenth the god of death . Mordremoth = the defloweration or desecration of nature ; The corruption of purity . Where as Malandru is the opposite of this .
I know a lot about the lore, and the story really is great. But what I am referring to specifically is how this lore will be portrayed and presented, namely cutscenes and dialogue windows.
Many people including myself did not feel the presentation of story and cutscenes was engaging or immersive enough. – Of course many will make the contrast with the former game’s cutscenes, which has a range of different opinions, but many that I think stick true to the fact that the cutscenes we are presented with now have much less of an impact than they did in the previous game, or a variety of other games and methods of cutscenes/story development.
I could be more specific as to the issues with the cutscenes and presentation, but I don’t think it is necessary, as I imagine Arenanet will have their own ideas, as well as huge numbers of reviews over the years, many of which reiterate the same ideas. (Though I can present them if wanted)
