Haunted Doors are the only way into the Mad King Labyrinth and Clock Tower. Normally they are one-way conduits, but ever since Act II started, someone of them have started becoming two-way doors. This anomaly is usually quite temporary and resolves itself in time.
But there are other forces at work this Halloween. Look for special holiday meta events in Queensdale, Kessex Hills, and Gendarren Fields. Once these are completed, a massive blast of spectral energy will cause all the doors in the zone will swing open and remain open for a long time. After about an hour, that energy will finally deplete, and the events will have to repeated again.
Yes, the Ascent to Madness instance (Act 3) will be available until the beginning of Act 4. Act 1 and 2 will be available until the end of Halloween.
It is a stand alone jumping puzzle achievement. There’s no need to carry such a derogatory tone.
It’s true, pumpkin carving and clock tower don’t count.
Rumble should be fixed in a few minutes.
Mad King Labyrinth and Lunatic Inquisition are the same map. There’s still one missing pieceā¦.
There’s still two more acts.
Sometimes the way up is also the way down.
Working on it, should be resolved pretty quickly.
Thanks for pointing it out.
You’re right, my mistake. I’ll edit. Apologies.
Some of them are rather devious.
Bummer. I’m sure I’ll be at work too, making sure this goes off without a hitch.
Resetting pumpkins is actually a technical problem and not something that was meant to be relied upon. There are about 30 pumpkins in each of the following areas:
- Lion’s Arch
- Queensdale
- Kessex Hills
- Gendarren Fields
- Metrica Province
- Wayfarer Foothills
- Caledon Forest
- Plains of Ashford
And then some more elsewhere as well.
There’s not an achievement tied to the beginning of Act 3. I highly recommend you try to make it though.
As some of you noticed, we have published the time of the special event which will occur on Sunday, October the 28th at 12:00 PM Pacific Time/19:00 GMT.
On the holiday team, we are fully aware of the fact that not everyone can be logged into the game at specific time. We’re also aware that people live in different time zones, and those times can potentially fall on different calendar days. This is why each act is a phase, or a period of time, rather than a moment in time.
The one major exception is the beginning of Act 3, which is something that I think most people will want to be around to see. The choice of 12:00 PM Pacific Time/19:00 GMT on Sunday was a very informed, calculated decision. It was primarily based on the fact that it’s pretty much the peak of our weekly concurrency, which means it satisfies the highest possible percentage of our users. It also means that it’s the same calendar date whether you’re American or European.
For those of you wondering, having the event at separate times for separate zones is actually one of the worst options. Whatever happens is going to be on livestreams instantly and then on YouTube about five minutes later. At least this way, everyone has a chance to experience it in the game, without having it spoiled by the rapid availability of video on the Internet.
EDIT: Correct an error about dates.

It’ll happen at noon (PST) today. There will probably be a build to address some things, but the phases start completely independent of builds.
There are discoverable and unlockable recipes for runes and sigils that the other professions can learn.
It’s true. Pumpkins will be in until the end, and you might even be able to find a few more starting tomorrow.
Fix is coming soon. Thanks for your patience.
Everything in Act 1 will be available until the end.
Not all of the achievements are completable in Act 1.
That tweet was misleading. Halloween will end on the Nov 1st, approximately 6PM eastern time.
There is a one-time event in Lion’s Arch on the 28th. Watch the progress bar in the Grand Piazza.
Level 80s, Haunted Door Campings, Lower-level farming, and problems with level scaling

Indeed. I agree that the creatures may be a bit on the weak side when faced up with higher level players. But I’m not sure if putting the doors in higher-leveled zones would have helped out the low-levels much either.
One thing that may help is that in the coming days, there will be even more content available. Hopefully this should help spread attention around.
Any continuation of that content will have a completely new reward item associated with it. You didn’t screw up.
It’s moving. Very slowly.
^ but not bloodtide coasts or harathi hinterlands?
Perhaps it has less to do with the region, and more with the people living there?
Not all casuals , working folk , etc agree with the gimme now gimme all crowd.

Glad you’re having fun, and if you’re happy now, you’re in for a real treat come later this week.
Just a friendly reminder, this event has only just begun.
Fox is correct. The spectral activity is building in Lion’s Arch and spreading through the Kryta region (Gendarren Fields, Kessex Hills, and Queensdale).
And yes the skritt burglar is a permenant thing.
That event is tracking the spectral energy levels in Lion’s Arch. What happens when it’s full? I couldn’t say…
Candy corn needs to be deleted of trading post, or there no longer needs to be a reason to farm them from nodes, because by tomorrow they will all be 1 copper each, and no use farming them, if you can just buy a never ending supply for nothing.
Perhaps. But consider this. Candy corn will only be available through Halloween. But you can use it all year round.
Hey all, it’s not an issue with crowding, there’s just a bug that causes it to lock up when there’s 100 people hitting it all at once. It should be fixed real soon.
Directly after completing your tutorial you can do an about face and head into your race’s home city. Each one has a portal to Lion’s Arch.
Should be fixed soon.
Wait, you don’t mean they’ll happen only once during the event do you? That would be a terrible design decision. You’d basically be saying we should play 24/7 or miss out.
You’ll know exactly what I’m talking about very soon. More or less.
Pretty much, yes. On the release page, the phases are periods of time and not necessarily specific times. There are, however, instances of things that only occur once and that’s all I’m really going to say about that. You’ll just have to log in and see.
As far as next year, I have no idea. I suppose it depends on the success of the content and the items from this year, etc. Since we are telling a specific story with this event, I can only assume that next year will be somewhat different, if only because I’d like to take the opportunity to tell a new Halloween story.
Yes, Halloween has invaded WvW.
Thanks Iomega, locking topic.
So on the bright side there’s a bunch of new content being released concurrently with this update that will remain in the game forever. And while I’m vastly empathetic to your specific situation, we do, unfortunately, have to deactivate Halloween eventually. I’m afraid that no matter when we do it, we’ll be cutting some players off before they get a chance to see it. But fear not, content and special event updates are going to be a regular thing in Guild Wars 2. This is but a single episode of this story.
1) You kind of don’t. A big part of Guild Wars 2 is discovery and exploration, and we believe that it’s fun enough to not simply hand the players a list of everything they can do.
2) There’s about 10 questions in this one, so briefly: I never said that max level crafting wasn’t required, I just said that you don’t necessarily need to be a max weaponsmith. Also, I think there will be plenty of time/methods to acquire enough holiday-specific items to craft these weapons.
3) I don’t know the specific chance, sorry.
4) Possibly, the market will decide.
5) Again, discovery plays a part in it. But your best bet is to go to Lion’s Arch. There should be some information clearly available there.
Pretty much. We’ve got very good coverage over a good range of levels, and don’t forget we can scale you up and down for various things.
You don’t necessarily need weaponsmith maxed, but the permanent craftable weapons are level 80. And they are sellable.
The craftable skins and the Black Lion Chest skins are completely different from one another.
I’m fairly certain ArenaNet are not so sinister as to encourage people to buy Black Lion Keys on the basis of a promise for a unique weapon skin, only for you to find out it only lasts for a few hours.
I’m gonna quote you on this one. It’s not that I doubt ANet, it’s just that I’m… undecided, if you will, about their recent changes.
Hey guys, since there’s been a lot of questions, here’s the deal with the weapon skins. Basically there are two types of weapons for this event:
- Craftable – There are a number of weapons that can be crafted from materials that come from Halloween content. They are exotic and they have their own stats. You can craft these at any time of the year, but there are certain components that will only drop during Halloween. Since these weapons are really cool, we allow you to rent them from an in-game vendor in Lion’s Arch. They’re pretty cheap (you can buy them without paying gold) and yes, they expire in four hours. Basically, everyone will have a chance to get in the spirit of the season. To that effect, these weapons have auto-scaling stats but you can’t transmute them. For those of you who want to stay “festive” all year round, you’ll have to delve in the content and put the weapons together.
- Purchasable Skins – These are available in the Black Lion Chests. They are a one-time use skin that you can apply to anything, I believe, and from there transmute that appearance to something else if you need to. You cannot rent these from that vendor in Lion’s Arch.
There’s also a bunch more gear, goodies, and crafting recipes to be discovered in the content itself!
Hey guys, just keep in mind that we haven’t revealed everything yet. You’ll just have to make sure you show up for the various phases to see what’s available.
