Spoiler: there was always a rare chance to get them in the 10-20ish. The only change we made was to make them skins so you can apply them without spending a transmutation stone.
You will start with a +5 if you already have one.
Here’s how it works:
- Agony resist infusions are always +1 or above agony resist.
- Agony resist infusions only slot into the Agony Resist slot, which is currently only found Infused Asccended Rings and Back Items.
- Every time you finish a fractal, you’ll get at least a +1 out of the chest.
- An artificer can combine any two identical agony resist infusions with a Thermocatyltic Reagent o make one of a higher resistance.
- Existing Infused Ascended Rings and Back Items lose their natural +5 Agony Resist, and receive a +5 Agony Resist Infusion by default.
- New Infused Ascended Rings and Back Items will have an empty slot.
She hasn’t forgotten.
Thanks for your comments, everyone. We’ll also be looking at any bugs that have been reported. For clarification, all of these changes will occur when the Fractals are updated to include the new fractal that was determined as a result of the election in July. It is in development now and should be released before the end of the year.
We initially launched the game with two types of scaling:
- monsters get stronger
- monsters get more numerous
Since then we have have adjust various events to utilize a scaling system that mixes the two. You’ve seen this in action when you start seeing champions and veterans popping up as more players show up. While I certainly feel that this approach is effective, I appreciate you sharing all of your comments and especially the examples. I agree that facing down an army one-shotting health bags doesn’t make one feel very powerful.
The intent of scaling isn’t necessarily to make content harder, it’s to keep it relatively the same difficulty no matter how many players appear.
Just remember: higher hp doesn’t necessarily = more challenging content
I agree. Unfortunately damage and defense scaling reaches a point where it no longer conveys a sense of progression and challenge. For example, once creatures start one-shotting every player, it doesn’t matter how much extra damage they do. We’re also looking into how to meaningfully extend the scalability of FOTM.
There are some changes in the upcoming release to mitigate the severity of this problem. We’re also looking at making some long-term improvements to the Twisted Clockwork invasions.
We’re currently looking at a few things regarding individual fractal difficulty and length. A couple of options are reducing the length of unnecessarily long fractals (dredge) and modifying the possible sequence of randomly selected fractals so you don’t get the longest and most difficult ones all on the same run.
In Guild Wars 2, the monsters raid you.
Also, check out Guild Missions
I’ll be the source. The invasions are sticking around until the Scarlet storyline is complete. Telling you exactly when it will end would probably spoil a lot of stuff. You can at least count on them regularly occurring through the end of this year.
- Every map will be invaded at least once per day, probably twice. In some cases, three times.
- Builds do not affect the rotation.
- The rotation is the same across all servers.
- If you play at the same time every day, you will see all 13 maps by the end of the Clockwork Chaos release.
This is a VERY important point. Something like this should be clarified in the patch notes. In bold.
Actual release note:
All overflow maps created within 10 minutes of the start of the invasion will host a concurrent version of that hour’s event.
The waves of Scarlet’s minions are depleted by killing creatures that emerge from the portals. Kills count, not necessarily events.
The pirate and molten waves are depleted by completing events.
Horrors will only merge into nightmares when low on health. Try focusing them down one at a time.
There will not be a one time event in the next release.
The Crown Pavillion (which includes the Queen’s Gauntlet) will be turned off after September 3rd and will remain off until it’s ready to return. The open world balloons and beacons of Kryta activity will also deactivate at this time.
As we have mentioned previously, most of the Queen’s Jubilee content will be available after the next release which goes live on August 20th.
The only piece of content that you won’t be able to complete after the August 20th is the Opening Ceremony story instance, which is presented the first time you enter the Crown Pavilion. Please note that this also includes the achievement for completing this instance.
All other Queen’s Jubilee achievements will continue to be available, including the daily achievements (which will rerun in a similar order).
Yes, you will be able to play the Queen’s Gauntlet after August 20th.
Queen’s Gauntlet will return, possibly as part of the activity rotation or even other events. In any case, you’ll be able to complete those achievements at a later date.
The Crown Pavilion should be is in the game until September 3rd.
EDIT: Sorry for the choice of words. And yes there will be another Living World release on the 20th.

Sorry about the titles. This was kind of an oversight. I am nearly certain that the Gauntlet will return. Possibly as part of the activity rotation someday. Ideally we’ll extend it with more tiers of bosses, gambits, and achievements (and titles). I’m not sure if its possibly to retro-actively associate a new title with an old achievement but I will investigate. If so perhaps we can add some titles when the Gauntlet returns.
The Pavilion is basically a big venue. I believe it’s completely possible someday that it could be used for other types of events all together.
Keep watching the skies.
If you can’t look the chest because of another player then it’s not working as intended. We’ll look into it.
Other reasons include: you already looted that one or you’ve finished the balloon tourist achievement. The chests are not daily.
There’s also a decieving issue going on here. You may be able to see the chest from outside the tower and then when you get to the top it has opened. That’s because the chest doesn’t detect if you’re ineligible until you get to about the second floor. If there’s another player up there, it may appear they’re stealing it. I apologize for the confusion. I’ll see if we can fix it.
Thanks for the feedback everyone and please keep it coming. Personally, I find that one of the hardest parts of being a desginer on GW2 Live is coming to terms with the fact that not every update will please every player. We do our best to deliver appealing content with enough variety to keep as many people as satisfied as possible. And If there’s one thing we can do consistently, it’s improving the experience of said content each time. I think we made some great strides with the Jubilee. I think we have a lot of room to keep growing. But our team isn’t done yet. We’ve got some exciting things coming later this month. Things you’ve never seen in this game before.
But in the mean time, please keep telling us what you’re thinking. We are listening. Not only to what you’re saying but also to what you’re not. The very first living world team actually did the thing some of you have called for. Some 40 or so permanent events were added around the game in our very first content update. They were met with little interest or fanfare. Granted, Halloween may have stolen the show. But those events are still in the game today. I’ve seen very little reaction to them, however, positive or negative. Despite this, there are many events I would still like to add. Many zones and bosses I would love to revisit. As we get better at the living world, I strongly suspect we’ll have room to get around to them as well. Assuming that’s what our players really want. You are all the second half of the collaborative process, so thanks for helping!
Just the meta achievement. Either Queen’s Jubilee or Queen’s Gauntlet will do, as well as anything we release later this month
After looking into it, it appears that there’s a bug where Braham and Rox will only address you correctly in the Opening Ceremony instance. We’ll work hard to prevent this in the future. Thank you for your patience.
Also look forward to seeing more of Rox and Braham in the next release.
The actual shrine to Balthazar is near the Balthazar waypoint. Yes his statue used to be down there but I’m fairly certain the human god of warfare doesn’t mind having a secondary shrine replaced by an arena.
It wasn’t an oversight. There wasn’t any need for the second, smaller shrine down there.
There will a new daily living world achievement every day.
There’s a tricky spot where some of those pirates appear to be spawning under ground. They’re pirates after all so they don’t play by the rules. But I’ve got just the thing for them, we’ll get it fixed.
As the person who scripted her to do that, yes! All this business about being one of the most powerful mesmers in the world and she’s going to just stand there? I think not…
Ok thanks, I’ll look into it.
You can only loot the chests until you’ve completed Balloon Tower Tourist achievement. We’re looking into the pirates.
The Jubilee dailies are in the daily category. They have the Jubilee achievement icon.
Actually that’s for the daily activity rotation. Today’s activity is Sanctum Sprint. You can join near the herald in Lion’s Arch.
Poor Hobo-tron has a long road ahead of him.
The Gauntlet reward bags have the Sovereign skins in them.
There’s a second-story catwalk in the Crown Pavilion maps with 6 domes. That’s where you enter.
Aetherblades do in fact appear at the balloons.
If you completed their instances on that character, they should recognize you. Logan, Queen Jennah, Countess Anise, and Faren also all have different conversations based on your choices and progress in Human stories.
For this release we stuck to enemies that can actually be seen fighting humans throughout the game. Ironically enough, that logic makes Flame Legion the weakest association. Of course, we could have included Separatists or Charr Renegades, but Queen Jennah would probably avoid any sort current sensitive foreign relation issues.
To get the Liadri mini you just have to defeat the final boss of Queen’s Gauntlet. You don’t have to have five gambits active.
You can see how many people are waiting on the NPC who you’ll need to talk to in order to get into the arena. Most fights will not actually take two minutes. The arena will admit the next person whenever someone wins or loses as well. Also there’s a lot of other stuff going on in the map. You guys should check it out before you jump to too many conclusions.
Actually it’s two minutes. And the map capacity of Crown Pavilion is limited to 75 before it starts to create overflows.
Yes, in Fractals you can change a number to increase the difficulty of the Fractals. Gambits are completely different, however, in that you activate a specific condition. For example, completing the challenge without being able to dodge.
More along the lines of Braham/Rox and it’s available for the entire release.
More clarification:
- It’s an artificer recipe
- You can trade the output of the recipe between characters on your account
- The recipe makes a one-time use item, it does not unlock a new skill
- This is not going to replace a mesmer in your party
(edited by AnthonyOrdon.3926)
It’s a full story instance.
