Look, here’s the issue: It’s not just occasional jump looping. Somehow, somewhere, they made a major change, and it is catastrophic.
Do this: Jump onto an uneven surface (somewhere with a slight difference in height), and don’t move, then try to use skills. You can’t do anything until the game sees you are “Running” in a direction on the ground. They have completely messed up the server/client’s ability to detect when you’ve hit the ground on an uneven surface.
This is also the reason Arrow Carts will give “Cannot drop bundles in the air” errors now, and if you take a fall that hurts you, it will not hurt you until you start running/moving some direction on the ground. The game literally cannot tell you are NOT in the air until you move in a direction walking. In fact, when this happens, you can “hippity hop” (moving only while in the air, after jumping up) endlessly not able to use skills.
Now, for example, lets say you jumped down a wall in WvW, and landed slightly unevenly. All the enemy needs to do is keep you from moving (immobilize, knock down, ect), and you’ll be trapped and unable to fight back or help yourself. You can’t use stun breaks or condition removals, and you will die.
I have a hunch they’re trying to stop teleporters, but this is really horrible.

The title says it all ! Just like Mad Memoires, the burning book back item from Halloween, the Fractal Capacitor (Infused) should light up the area around the player. This is the final stage of the Fractal Capacitor right now, and it requires a lot of materials just to make it “shiny.” It should really give off light as well!
As most of you say, the point wouldn’t be to affect combat in any way, just to be able to run around with it. Needing to summon it right when you’re going to start fighting isn’t a very good mechanic for a pet or minion. It’s a major pain that we can’t summon it and have it ready to fight when we’re just running around WvW or a PvE map, like any single-summon pet or minion.
As a Necromancer with the Elite “Summon Flesh Golem” skill, you get a comparatively strong ally which is permanent. The least the Mistfire Wolf could do is not despawn until it has been 30 seconds after engaging in combat to make it more appealing.
TL;DR- I want to run around with the pretty wolf and show it off >.<
Do you have any idea how ridiculously overpowered this idea would make Mistfire Wolf? Just make it more like the Sylvari racial elite, Summon Sylvan Hound…or the Human racial elite, Hounds of Balthazar.
On the contrary, it would not make it any more powerful whatsoever. As soon as it begins combat, it starts the 30 second timer. In case you didn’t know, this is already how it works, assuming you summon it immediately before battle. Naturally, the cooldown would begin when the 30 seconds begins, just like now.
In fact, nothing would be different, but you could finally summon it like a normal pet or minion and run around with it before engaging in battle. It would change absolutely nothing with regards to battle, but would make it much more appealing as a Digital Deluxe feature.
I definitely have Agony Resistance in Death Shroud. Just finished level 28, and the Agony did not tick down my Life Force bar noticeably faster than usual (30 AR; 1% life lost on ticks). I have no idea where you guys got it in your mind that Agony Resistance wasn’t working in Death Shroud— it would empty in seconds if that were true, and even at level 38 I’m able to stay in Death Shroud to mitigate all Agony damage.
Could we make the wolf permanent until it enters combat, then start the 30 second timer, after which it disappears?
Right now you summon it and it disappears after 30 seconds, which is why most people never use it. If the wolf stayed until you start fighting, then disappeared 30 seconds after the fight started, it would be a lot nicer to use, without making it any more powerful.

I’ve just started a Mesmer, and I love sword + torch. What’s wrong with the torches? Seriously I have no frame of reference here.
Giver’s weapons too. Just get it over with, buy power/precision/crit gear and only worry about hitting stuff until they’re dead.
Not gonna lie, that seems to be what they want everyone to do. I sympathize with them on some of the things (new Ascended rings can’t be infused, for example), they did just have a major update. However, Giver’s weapons were introduced 3 months ago and never worked. They don’t need to be fixed, they need to be added to the game!
A quarter of a year is a long time to make players sit on useless weapons they wasted time and/or resources on.
Is getting an exotic item from a Fractals chest that is Account Bound WAI, or is this a bug. I filed a bug report, I see another thread in which players seem to think it is working as intended. It’s the ‘account bound’ part I’m questioning.
That’s normal, and the stat configuration is usually something special too (they are not intended to be acquired through any means but grinding, and thus cannot be sold on the Trading Post). Once in a while someone will insist that this type of armor is simply incredible for their build, which makes me think the intention was to draw more people into Fractal dungeon running.
Mystic Forge recipes cannot be that difficult to alter. The items are all already in the game, what’s the holdup?
Indeed, this needs to be addressed ASAP. An unscheduled hot patch would be probably be appropriate here, as it completely ruins just about every condition build. Giver’s weapons also do not work, and they NEVER worked. It has been 3 months (!) since these +10% Condition Duration weapons were introduced, and nothing has been done about it. I know they’ve said they’re working on it, but in the meantime we have tons of players with ruined weapons, and a tidy sum of wasted gold! Lame!

They are aware of it, and a fix is supposed to be coming.
Unfortunately, like the Giver’s Weapons with the +10% Condition Duration stat, this does not appear to be a priority fix, and could take months (the Giver’s weapons were released in December, it is now 3 months later and the Condition Duration is still not working).
New patched fixed it, you guys rock!
I’ve never been truly mad, or even annoyed with anything ArenaNet did… until now. There is no reason to do this, please change it back. Please.

is it even possible to put rune in a breathing mask?!
Yes, you can put runes on breathing masks, (but not orbs for some reason) and you need to understand that while underwater, your breathing mask replaces your helm, in the same way that your weapons are replaced. You wouldn’t expect your sigils to apply to your underwater weapons from the dry land weapons, when they aren’t even in use! Also, there are various karma vendors selling level 79/80 breathing masks with stats you may want, and at least two skins available in the game right now (so check this stuff out before applying your upgrades!).
Just be happy they didn’t require an entire set of underwater armor/wetsuits!

This appears to be broken still! Any word on a fix for this awesome Wintersday stat, still broken over a month after its introduction? This could really use some attention!
Is everyone experiencing this using the dodge roll keybind, as opposed to double-tapping a movement key? We’re aware of a bug related to using the keybind, but if you’re not using that to dodge, it could be a separate bug.
I have this severely with my Scepter + Necromancer, and I only use the double-tap dodge. This bug has killed me a few times, it wouldn’t be so bad if it just failed to dodge but when your endurance is gone you’re dead meat in some of the fractals and dungeons…
Not that I expect a quick fix. I mean, people have been posting videos about this since the game came out.
I think there is a torch on the ground in there if you don’t have AOE/items to highlight objects to jump on as well. This actually happened to me every time I wasn’t alone (maybe they stay off when someone is in a certain spot?).
When do server resets happen exactly?
As far as I know, only when they have a new update or other server maintenance-related issue. Server resets being a requirement for an event is NOT intended. This is a bug, and it needs to be fixed!

It worked for a bit after reset on Tarnished Coast.
What I found questionable, though, was that the Rotting Oakheart spawned at almost the exact same time as the Shadow Behemoth when I did it.
How long ago was that? On my server (Dragonbrand) people say that nothing happens at all after server resets… I wonder if there’s an event chain that needs people to do it, or risks permanently disabling Shadow Behemoth?
Can someone please direct more resources towards this? It’s hardly a minor bug, and it sounds like it has been messed up for weeks if not months across all our servers…
As a side note, I believe you can infuse one of them and then wear them both. So it’s not a total loss for you… just don’t infuse the second one!
I’m bumping this for Dragonbrand… I wasted a whole day in Queensdale checking the swamp and talking with Sister Brenda, but she never starts her event and the swamp remains eternally dormant… can’t someone do a quick fix so we can kill this thing?

Agreed, this was poorly designed. I hope they add a little dialogue from the NPCs so you can finally snag your hard-earned loot.
It looks like the swamp at Godslost Waypoint [Queensdale] on Dragonbrand never ever ever becomes active. We’ve completed all the nearby map events, and after 7 hours… nothing. Not a peep.
I’ve heard this event is really cool, and potentially even has special loot! Looking at videos of the Shadow Behemoth at the end, it looks like this event bug basically ruined an entire dragon-sized event… Can someone please look into this?

Reddit says the server got rolled back at least once, if not twice. ArenaNet hasn’t really been communicating about this at all (as per their usual response when servers are having issues/rollbacks). Don’t worry though, it’s a very, very rare thing, and it only rolled back around 30 minutes (again, using Reddit as my source here).
So roughly translated, open world events will have collectable tokens for you to trade for various items (just theorising!). If this is the case then I just hope that that youre limited to the amount of tokens you can earn in a day so to avoid issues with people grinding specific areas.
No, it has to be something else (or at least more complicated) because gold sellers could still cash in tokens for items/gold.
It could be a soulbound token you get once each day on each map for killing a Champion (as a normal loot item from its corpse).
Normal players could get 1 token for each map every day from this “Champion Map Daily” by grouping up, but botters traveling from map to map and killing Champions would be borderline impossible. Plus, since it’s soulbound like Skill Point materials (Bloodstone Shard, Crystal, ect), the Legendary precursor would need to be crafted in the Mystic Forge by that character specifically (I’m thinking 250 tokens, 250 ectos, 100 Mystic Coins, and one of the gifts specific to the Legendary).
Edit: Added bonus: Champions are more worth killing, which is another issue they wanted to address!

Mac version (I’ll take what I can get) looks to be working fine, but the Windows-only users with this issue might be out of luck. Just thought I’d let you all know… my Windows client still won’t download, the Mac side (Beta) is connecting just fine!

Tried both, one at a time, and neither of them allowed a connection to be made. They confirm that Guild Wars 2 is “Waiting for Connection” or they just sit there and say “Connected” above “Game Connection.” Also tried Pingzapper, changing my password, and checking for attempted connections on my account (it says there is a current connection from here when I first tried to connect, so GW2 is contacting the server, but it doesn’t give me a disconnection option, and it never even got to the login).
This is probably their problem, not ours…
Interesting how you said it works at your friends how, but not with VPN service. Something is fishy there. Did you use your own machine on your friends connection or their machine?
My machine all the way. I do not believe it is the connection, I think it’s a matter of getting lucky with ArenaNet’s servers, as stated in the first reply. Which sucks.

I’m also stuck exactly like this… I’ve never had issues from this location before last night around 4PM Central Time.
I needed to go to a friend’s house just to connect, but now I’m back home and SoL. Why, ArenaNet… why?
Edit: My state university in the USA is my ISP (actually shows my university’s name when you look up the IP)… so it’s not like some sketchy place they would block.

Well what I meant is they say sort of different things, first of all we’ve been all under the impression that it came from a LARGE BOSS CHEST, therefore we weren’t trying to find a specific boss but rather specific chests that hadn’t been farmed, also LARGE BOSS CHEST is not very specific, it could mean that only LARGE chests in the world drop it, it could mean large chest from a dungeon.
Now this other dev says SPECIFIC (RARE) BOSS, and doesn’t add a chest to his wording even though he says it’s exactly as lindsey say, even though she did not say anything about a specific rare boss.
So this just opens up more possibilities than narrow it down really, which is somewhat good and bad, but it’s better to know that the the staff is actually out there hidden somewhere.
I’d say now with the new info from the dev, we are more inclined to be looking for a specific (rare) boss that has not been farmed much (sort of likethe legendary giant in arah path 4 which I thought it was)
What if… it’s from a Large Boss… chest? For example, the Risen King (worthless as his blues are) spawns a little round chest behind him to the left when you finally kill him. Now, I don’t know about your server, but I’m the only person who has ever ever ever shown up to kill him. Ever. It wouldn’t surprise me if Final Rest comes from that chest (most people don’t even see it when they run in for the skill point).
according to the wiki (linked in the OP) it’s a certain event in straits of devastation. i just went there to check if it’s running, and it is.. but it is bugged. if most servers have this event bugged/stalled/blocked (just like tons and tons of other events), it’s no wonder no one has obtained this weapon yet.
i reported the bug for what it’s worth (i’m sure other people have done it before me), but it’ll probably take another 6-12 months to get fixed.
It’s not bugged, I just ran it like 4 times without a problem:

Step 1: Destroy 10 coffins in the catacombs and kill 3 veterans. One Abomination spawns to the East, one Noble to the West, and one Wraith in the middle.
Step 2: Go to the swamp and wait about 15-60 minutes for the “Destroy the Anti-Air Cannon” event to start, then destroy the cannon so the team can land.
Step 3: Escort the team back to the catacombs. You need to kill at least one Veteran Priest of Melandru up on the plateau in order to kill the Champion Abomination that you’ll run into on that route (just North of the spot with a “3” on the map).
After that it’s just a simple matter of killing everything in your way to finish the event chain, concluding with a fight against an Eye of Zhaitan and a dragon-event-sized chest. Don’t get too disappointed if all you get are blues, that’s all anyone I’ve run it with has gotten (which sucks because it’s ridiculously hard, and you’ll almost never find people around to do it).
well, when i checked on my server (Dzagonur [DE]), the event was in one of its last stages and it was definitely blocked/bugged.
Yeah it seems like that tends to happen on a lot (all?) events on rare occasions. I ran through the whole chain again just now, no problems at all (except for the blues… those sad, sad blues…)
1) If you swap currently equipped weapons (shift), the difference in Precision will change this stat. At level 80, every 21 Precision = 1% Critical Chance.
2) WvW Bonuses might affect this, but I can’t say I’ve tested it at all (keep in mind that certain traits will give you a % bonus to precision based on other stats as well, so a Guardian with “Valor” traited gets 5% of his toughness as precision).
3) You might be having a weird run-in with the effects of a Superior Sigil of Accuracy, which adds exactly 5% critical chance. This item has not shown up in the Hero Panel since the game’s inception, and they haven’t expressed any desire to fix it. However, it is possible they have been attempting to fix it after all, and you are seeing a buggy/partial fix.
4) Banners, Sigils, Signets, ect. should be checked as well, just in case. Also, even in the exact same map, levels will vary (and precision is notoriously poor at scaling).

Having a large chest spawn after killing certain boss type monsters is fairly common.
I wish they would tell us what kind of chest it is (“Large Chest”might not mean “Largest Chest” or whatever).

The weapon is soulbound on acquire. You cannot sell it. In fact, people might have gotten the staff but never said anything.
Not true for this (PvE) version! The chat codes are:
[&AgGgSwAA] – PvE Version (Final Rest), Soulbound on Use
[&AgEQewAA] – PvP Version (PvP Gargoyle Scythe), Soulbound on Acquire
Can’t you guys throw us a bone or something? Since it is a gaygorle staff, i assume it comes from one of those risen knights. But i don’t remember if there is a champion version of them
On the bright side, if you find out where to get it, you can keep it to yourself and make a mint on the Trading Post. It has never been posted there before, after all this time… sell it for 200 gold first, then 2000, then 20000. Muahaha!

After 4 months and millions of people playing, and nobody finding it, it’s pretty safe to say it hasn’t been added to the loot tables. Since Lindsey Murdock, items designer at Arenanet, thinks it should have been (and nobody found it for months after that confirmation as well), I thought it would be a good idea for a little checkup/confirmation.
I too want to know this…
My friend had tossed hers because she decided to be a good patron of the game and purchase a couple of the pets from the store. Now she is being punished because she thought there was no other use for these items?
I hope everyone who threw away their items has a chance to find a happy ending still. That said, if an item has been added to the game less than a week ago, and you got one and only one of them, for the love of Grenth, why would you throw it away? As a general rule, if I get only 1 of something, and it seems like it’s potentially impossible to get it again, I’m going to keep it for a few months…
Imagine if people acted like your friend when they got their Gifts of Exploration. Horror.
