What about bringing back the “Deep Wound” condition from GW1? For anyone who doesn’t know, deep wound was a condition in GW1 that lowered the victim’s total health by 20%. It could be made so that burst skills applied a deep wound on the struck target for 5 seconds, lowering their maximum health by 1% per point in Discipline meaning at 30 points it would be 30%. This would add a good deal of utility to the Warrior’s burst skill and the Warrior profession in groups as a “finisher.” It would also require effective timing to make good use of. I’m not saying this is the best idea, just brainstorming…thoughts?

A Guardian on a DPS build has the same survivability of this but double damage.
Warrior isn’t born for tank specs…

He’s not trying to tank, he’s being “tanky.” If he runs with a guardian or two in his party he will get protection and regen and truly become a tank while dealing ok damage and providing support to his team in a different manner than a guardian. I’m not saying this build is perfect but you don’t need to go full damage as a warrior.

Honestly for WvW the best advice I can give you is don’t confine yourseld to 2 weapon sets and be ready to adjust weapons and traits at a moment’s notice. I have every warrior weapon in my backpack and am always ready to take one out depending on the situation. Sword/Horn, Greatsword when I need to get somewhere fast. Longbow during sieges. Hammer almost always. Used to run Axe/Shield, Sword/Horn and it worked really well against thieves. Axe’s fast autoattack counters the P/D blind fairly well and the shield stun sets you up for eviscerate which is enough to send most thieves running for their lives.

Nea, I said : I do not show all my trics or tacticts for a REASON.Why would I give people I fight against so much power?
I change my skills 50x a day. based on fight, group and other factors.
Sadly 350-400 ticks DO help. 50+ people a day thank me fo healing and tell me how much it helps.I have NOT healed and then healed for thounsands of battles.I see the diff.

I’m sorry but I’m finally going to post on here.

Firstly, someone DID upload a video of healing that is better than yours already.

Secondly, I’ll bet 50 bucks that in the video where you have 3000+ vitality that you are standing next to Siegerazer or using the Rampage elite. Congratulations. I can get more HP than that on my Necromancer. And I’ll be using an elite skill that isn’t pointless.

Thirdly, healing ticks of 300-400 per second in zerg vs zerg fights in the open field mean very little. In order for that healing to make any meaningful impact, the fight would have to last a very long time AND not move out of range of your banners. Most open field zerg vs zerg fights last less than a minute. In this situation, burst healing is far more effective. ONE AoE from a damage specced person completely negates your healing.

Fourth and final point, this game has no holy trinity. There is no dedicated healer. You are playing the dedicated healer role in a game with no dedicated healer. You are healing people from, as you say, “a screen away” and contributing in no other way to the fight. Add to that the fact that 1 AoE completely negates your healing and you might as well not even be there.

P.S. I would love to get the chance to fight your zerg with my zerg but I’m on Maguuma so I doubt that will happen.

It doesn’t really collide with shouts that badly at all. All you are losing is the 20% reduced shout cooldown. Shouts are on such a short cooldown already (aside from “Fear Me!”) that this doesn’t really matter.

I have thought about trading out cull the weak for something else and may end up doing so, Berserker’s Power seems like the best option. I just liked the synergy with fierce blow for the burst. The main reason I went with runes of rage is because without them this build lacks 100% fury uptime which is a big damage loss, especially if fury is down during the burst.

Due to my recent realization that Runes of the Mesmer do not increase stun duration, I will be trading these runes out for crit damage runes. There are a number to choose from but I will be going with Runes of Rage to also maintain perma-fury. Some of the gear will also need to be shifted around to get the exact crit chance of 30% and some stats will change slightly. I will update the post with the new gear and stats shortly.

Okay so I just did a little testing and it appears that Runes of the Mesmer DO NOT increase the stun duration of Skull Crack. However, Sigil of Paralyzation appears to be bugged and increases stun duration by a full second. Skull Crack was lasting 3 seconds and Shield Bash was lasting 2 seconds. This is a big deal. Can anyone else confirm this? If needed, I can upload a video of me whacking a golem in the mists with various combinations.

Rune of the Mesmer only applies to daze.

…Hence the reference to “daze” in the runes.

I’m aware of the reference to daze in the runes. It was confirmed long ago that it also applies to stuns. Have you personally checked?

Does runes of the mesmer really work with stuns? I tried a couple of times in PvP for both earthshaker/shield bash/skull crack. Only pummel smash really worked for the increased duration for me >.>

I believe so but I’ve never really timed it with a stopwatch. I remember it being confirmed that they did a long while back so unless they’ve changed it they still should.

Firstly, this build is just for fun. Don’t bother telling me how bad you think it is. I don’t really care. Although I have made a build nearly identical for this in SPvP/TPvP and tested it, I don’t have the spare gold/laurels/karma/dungeon token/fractal relics/guild commendations to gear myself for this in WvW or PvE. Because of the way gear is condensed in SPvP, this build is not nearly as effective there as I believe it could be in WvW (specifically dueling or roaming with a small party). I have tested it extensively in SPvP though and I know the build works and I know the burst is huge…it only gets better with PvE stat distribution.

This build is centered around getting the maximum usage out of the unsuspecting foe trait and merciless hammer trait for very large hammer burst damage while still having a very large amount of toughness.

Traits – 0/10/30/0/30.
IV – Unsuspecting Foe
I – Embrace the Pain, VI – Cull the Weak, X – Merciless Hammer
VI – Signet Mastery, VII – Sweet Revenge (optional), XII – Adrenal Reserves

Gear
Berserker’s Weapons, Armor, and Backpiece
Cavalier’s Jewelry
Mace – Sigil of Paralyzation
Shield – Sigil of Energy

Effective power during the burst is over 8000 (anyone know if you can get this over 9000?)

With sigil of paralyzation on the mace, your stuns and dazes will last 1 second longer. This means shield bash is now a 2 second stun, pommel bash is now a 2 second daze, and skullcrack can be a 3 second stun. The objective is to fight mainly with your mace/shield combo using pommel bash and shield bash to bait out enemy stunbreakers while using shield stance and counterblow to block attacks. Then, when you see an oppurtunity, use skull crack, switch to hammer, frenzy, fierce blow for the weakness and big crit, 2 hits of the autoattack chain (glass cannons are dead by now), backbreaker, 2 more hits of the autoattack chain (balanced builds are dead by now), earthshaker, hammer4 (tanky builds will be dead by now), swap back to mace/shield, shield bash, autoattack, pommel bash, autoattack, blah blah blah everything is dead by now. If timed correctly, your opponent will be locked down completely during your burst while you pummel them with quickness, 114% crit damage, 100% crit chance (except for the brief moment where they are locked due to backbreaker instead of a different stun), and 40% increased overall damage from defense traits and the hammer sigil.

This is very fun because nobody expects to be bursted down by a hammer, mace/shield warrior. The burst is huge but it is very difficult to land/time properly. However, it is very satisfying when you do manage to land it.

Gimmick? What defines a gimmick and what defines a “real” build.

There are entire builds centered around landing Hundred Blades. Every weapon in itself, is a gimmick.

Hammer – only works if they don’t have blinds or blocks or generally move faster than you.

Axes – Doesn’t work so well if they have weakness or access to retaliation

Swords – Hope they do not have lots of condition removal

And what makes you think this build works so poorly? I’m almost positive you haven’t tried it. So don’t make such bold claims.

Anyway, I’m not here to argue. I’ll let you stick to your HB build while i think outside the box

TL:DR – Try it, before you knock it

If your build relies entirely on your enemy not knowing what it does, it’s a gimmick. Once the novelty wears out and people know it, it’s useless.

Even then, it’s pretty bad. Again, you are relying on at least 3 interrupts (not just landing hard CC, it has to actually land at a specific time to interrupt an attack) AND the enemy not notice or cleanse the single condition AND continuously attack in order to cause little over 1k of damage per skill the enemy uses.

If you build power instead, each of those CCs, don’t even need an interrupt, you can land converts to higher and less conditional damage already… If you’re building conditions you get way more of having at least one proper condition weapon.

Also I’ve never fired a square rocket, but I can tell you it’s not aerodynamically sound.

PS: Bad guess. I don’t use a greatsword on my warrior. They’re rather underwhelming in PvP/WvW. So… “That’s the problem with assumptions…”. I’ll let you fill in the rest.

Firstly, confusion has more than one use. If an enemy has confusion he either continues using skills and hurts himself badly or doesn’t use anything and your teammates steamroll him. Confusion is a group based condition.

Secondly, you don’t need to land 3 interrupts to get 3 stacks of confusion. 3 interrupts would get you 9 stacks of confusion. Each interrupt applies 3 stacks.

Stealth needs to drop on damage

I didn’t read all 6 pages of this so apologies if someone said this already. I believe the perfect solution to this problem is that if you hit a thief while he is in stealth, you should still see the damage numbers. This way you would at least know that you are hitting the thief and get a better idea of where he is but he wouldn’t be fully revealed and good thieves would still be able to use the stealth to escape and re-position during fights.

Is a build like this viable in spvp? I’m new to the profession and was getting arround better with a P/D there, but I’d really like to go D/D …

I run this same build in TPvP and it’s very effective at fighting people 1v1, outmanned, and in teamfights. The only things I change are trading out the falling trait to 50% increased movement speed in stealth, I trade Signet of Shadows for Blinding Powder, I trade Dagger Storm for Basilisk Venom, I use Runes of Lyssa, and the Berserker’s Amulet. The key to using basilisk venom to its full potential is to activate it mid-fight after the enemy has blown their stunbreakers. Make sure you are in stealth when you activate it so they don’t even know.

Longbow with hammer or greatsword will work. Build adrenaline. Use the aoe cripple on the hammer or greatsword. Then use the aoe abilities on the longbow to nuke everything. Switch back to melee to finish stuff off.

sword/axe can be a decent setup for dungeon runs if you use the longbow to set up combo fields and then leap through with the sword and whirl with the axe for some pretty good damage

That burst is too high. It would be fine if it was say, 8 k at most, since the cursed thing PIERCES anyway, but being able to get 15 K+ on multiple opponents using one ability is….Wait for it…Unbalanced!

Like I said, only glass cannon, zero defence, trinity style players take such high damage from kill shot, any balanced build character only takes wait for it 9K damage at most.

I don’t even run this build (I’m a shouts healer warrior) and I’ve seen people take a ton of damage from my kill shot when that happens I just laugh really hard because all I can think of is:

There goes another glass cannon moron ! He will probably go to the forums later to complain and QQ instead of fixing his WvW build.

Hmm odd, because on my full defense support Guardian, all tanky toughness, and vitality, I’ve been pegged for my entire healthbar by one of those shots. 10 k! I know, Guardians have the lowest hp pool in the game, but I’m the tankiest I can get. Maybe it was luck or the fact he hit two people as it pierced it’s way towards me, maybe it was the fact my shield wall was on cooldown, but still THAT hurts ALOT.

Then again, 14.4 k hp isn’t alot in the grand scheme of things.

Let me word it another way; the heavy armored class doesn’t need a ranged ‘’one shot kill’‘. The stealthing thief also does not need a one stab kill. The warrior doesn’t need a one shot kill that can be fired only as fast as he can recoup adrenaline. There are no ‘headshots’ in GW2.

When a shout healer warrior is bragging at high damage output from the shot, that’s a bit worrying.

The only reason you were hit for 10k is because of the bug that causes attacks that pierce to deal more damage for each target pierced.

Guild Wars was an event prior to the first game.

Actually, GvG is the reason for the original’s name. Guild Wars was originally going to be a PvP only game. Then they added the PvE and added lore to fit the game name.

I agree, a 2H shield would be amazing. Captain America style.

auto attack: Bash, Mash, Stagger (cripple for 2sec)
2 – Shield Throw: throw your shield like a frisbee, slicing and bleeding emenies
3 – Shield Launch: Uppercut and launch foe in to air

Burst – ???

Change your option for number 2 to the Burst. Shield Throw: Throw your shield, dazing enemies on the way out and pulling them to you on the way back in. Daze increases with adrenaline level. 1s, 2s, 3s. (Keep in mind this is DAZE not stun). The Warrior would gain a much needed pull ability.

^ If your argument is that they don’t see it coming, so it’s irrelevant, then there’s no point in even saying the wind-up is a good balance to the skill’s design, since your enemy won’t see it anyway.

You also run into the problem of, “Well, Kill Shot isn’t meant to be used in 1v1s, so when you’re in a 1v1, you just can’t use it.”

Bad design. Terrible, in fact.

I just have two things to add to this:

1. There’s a reason Kill Shot has 1,500 range and can pierce targets (when traited of course…but what kind of rifle warrior doesn’t bring that trait?).

2. This game is NOT designed around 1v1. It is designed around 5v5.

That is all. Take from that what you will.

The racial skills are worse than the profession skills by design. It’s not going to change. ArenaNet made it this way on purpose so that what race you picked did not have any influence over how powerful you could be. It’s done like this for the sake of cross-race balance.

You sound like a perfect fit for our guild, Order of Entropy [OoE]. It’s a small growing guild on the Maguuma server that just hit 44 members and is still looking to grow without becoming too large. We do a lot of WvW, dungeons, some general PvE, and a little bit of SPvP every now and then. We are very laid back and just try to have fun and help eachother out. Almost every target he shoots in this video is a low level player being upscaled to level 80….you cannot call for nerfs based on damage being dealt from a full exotic level 80 to a low level player. You’ll notice that almost every time he targets a level 80 player he only hits for a 9k crit

actually i think what argis refers to is the hidden mechanic in Stronger Bowstrings trait that causes dual shot and fan of fire to become 100% chance projectile finishers.

Rifle is flat out more effective for bosses.

1,200 range, Aimed Shot’s 5 second cripple on 10 second cooldown, Brutal Shot’s 5 stacks of vulnerability for 10 seconds on 15 second cooldown, and a conal knockback for additional mobs with Rifle Butt. Versus…

900 range slow projectile, a blind and a (25 second CD) immobilize that are made worthless by Unshakable. Yes, the Adrenaline skill does a combo field, but elementalists are walking Fire Fields and I’d rather save my Adrenaline for +12% damage.

Longbow has 1200 range and EVERY shot is a combo finisher when traited. 2 combo finishers per autoattack. That is all I have to say.

I used to use Sigils of Water. The only good thing about those sigils is how cheap they are on the trading post. They are that cheap for a reason. Don’t get them. lol. I would get sigil of fire on the longbow for increased AoE, for the sword I would probably get a sigil of earth for more bleeding, and for the warhorn a sigil of battle. Sigil of earth might not be a bad choice for the longbow either as you would be able to simultaneously get some bleeding and burning with one weapon.

Oh Argis, once I reach that incredibly high skill level then I too will see how a build which is completely negated by stability, a buff which seems to be present on basically every class, is superior.

I too will play tpvp, and instead of defending points everyone will run around as a 5 with complimenting skills to take points from the one guy defending.

How did I not see those gap closers! Shield charge, in case you don’t want to take 2 steps forward, or earth shaker! (because I always have full adrenal bars when i start a fight), bullsrush I give you, but I love that, because it doesnt work on stability.

I too want to play a build where I have to blow every utility to kill someone, and the utility timers are 60 seconds.

Oh, you already think you’ve reached the max skill level. I don’t even know why I even bother arguing with you any more. Why bother to learn when you can just call everything you don’t use bad even when others are having success? Once again it seems you completely ignored what I actually said and just restated yourself by saying the build gets kittened by stability. I never said everyone run around as 5 zerging. If you don’t understand build synergizing across a team so that wherever you are, you are accompanied by at least 1 teammate who will be able to create devastating combos with, then I can’t really help you. I also love how you seem to think that stability has 100% uptime even after boon removal….Shield bash is a relatively short gap closer, but its still a gap closer. Who on earth would want to open a fight with Earth Shaker anyway? (not to mention you don’t need FULL adrenaline to use it. A good Warrior knows there are advantages in certain situations to using burst skills before they are fully charged) Oh by the way, your beloved 100B build only has 3 gap closers as well, although using Rush as a gap closer is idiotic. Some 100B Warriors may have 4 (hammer or shield secondary) but the shield is almost only pulled out to escape (notice i say ALMOST) and 100B Warriors with hammer usually drop bulls charge because they are using earth shaker to take advantage of the unsuspecting foe trait. And Rush is pretty much only used to escape. So yeah…3 gap closers. And what are you even talking about at the end? The utility timers on this build are 16s kick, 32s bulls charge, and 48s stomp. By the way, saying this build is completely useless because everybody has 100% uptime on stability is one of the most contradictory things I’ve ever seen anyone say. If everyone had 100% uptime on stability, 100B Warrior would be useless too, so obviously that’s not true. Both builds rely on a lack of stability to be effective. You know what advantages this brings over 100B? #1. If 100B misses you are forced to either run away or attack them with your other abilities which at that point you are just playing a damage over time glass cannon…which can be done with many other builds. With this build, they may dodge or block a couple of your stuns…but how long can they keep it up? You have so many to use which are on relatively low cooldowns…and if you’re good, you will learn how to chain these abilities so that your enemies are literally helpless…All while dealing some pretty huge damage. The damage from hammer and the utilities is nothing to be laughed at. People die…quickly. #2. There is no “downtime” in between being able to effectively engage one enemy to another with this build. You are never waiting on cooldowns to come back up before you feel confident to engage. All in all your argument that this build is bad because enemies have stability is irrelevant because 100B relies on the exact same thing. All the things you’ve mentioned that will kill this build will also kill the 100B build. I don’t see how you can possibly defend that build while condemning this one.

Honestly, I’d keep it the way you have it except for a couple things. Switch the rifle out for sword/warhorn. Change the 20% reduced shout cooldown to Quick Breathing for Warhorn. IMO the benefits you get from the quick breathing is greater than the slight cooldown reduction on your shouts. Change the traits that support the rifle into traits that support the sword. Use your longbow to set up combo fields and then swap to sword, leap through them (to combo on yourself) and whack away until your weapon swap is available again, back out ( blowing the warhorn), swap to longbow, rinse and repeat. All while using you shouts at the appropriate moments. Also, Warrior isn’t quite good enough at healing to spec FULLY into it, so why not do a little damage? Cleric’s gear is probably fine for the most part but I suggest slotting a couple pieces of jewelry that boost condition damage or getting weapons that have condition damage stats. Your going to be doing a lot of burning and bleeding. Might as well make it tick for something. Or boost your crit damage a little bit. With 300 in precision and permanent fury, you’re going to be critting quite often. Might wanna make those crits hit a little harder.

You’re saying if you team up with someone else you can beat someone 2v1 with this build?

That’s pretty great advice man. I’ll remember that when I play next time.

You know what would be better to team up with a necro running boon removal spec? A Hb warrior!, you’d kill the bunker in 1/4 of the time. Or even better a thief, or an offense guardian, or any class which can dps.

I amazingly saw a few warriors running this in spvp (i assumed it was similar as they were hammer/mace/shield) last night and you know what?, after the first knockdown, my stability kicked in and i absolutely wrecked them. We were in a 4v3 fight, they had 2 hammer warriors, 1 thief and 1 guardian (hammer as well), we were me (warrior) and ele + thief, and again, we won. Stability kills those builds

Apply one snare and leave the guy alone and focus on a bigger threat, he has 0 closers and 0 get out of jail cards. It isn’t a skillful spec, it’s a spec which relies on your opponent being bad to do well with.

The 100B spike will only kill that fast once every 60 seconds. Get real man. What teamfight do you know of where your team doesn’t focus down one target at a time? I’m not talking about 2v1s, I’m talking about teamfights and how ridiculously effective this combo can be in them when synergized with other teammates builds. 100b is capable of more burst damage but this build is capable of more sustained damage and more control. BTW, this build actually does really good damage too. You don’t have to 100B to kill people fast.

As for your comment about beating the Warriors running this build, this build is extremely difficult to use. The amount of skill required to play it properly is very high. That said, it may have more potential than run-of-the-mill builds. Simply beating someone who uses this build doesn’t mean the build is bad…more than likely it means the player is bad. I kill 100b Warriors every time they try to fight me…does that mean the 100b build is bad? No. I don’t expect ANYONE to be at a high enough skill level to use this build to its potential yet. The game has simply not been out long enough yet. (and i doubt anyone running this build has been running it for very long at all) Yes stability can kill this build. Which is why when using this build you have to play smart and skillfully. See your enemy use stability? Better kite em around, LoS, dodge, or block until it goes down. Then guess what? Chain CCs perfectly so that the enemy literally can not hit you. When you get good enough, you can. You said you simply snare them and leave them alone? LOL Now I know you were playing against bad players. A good player will avoid the snare (especially one like bladtrail which is telegraphed big time) 0 gap closers? Shield bash + Bulls Charge + Earth Shaker….not sure what build you were looking at.
Team Builds are the way of the future. 5 professions all rolling buillds that specifically complement eachother to maximize effectiveness. These builds will not be viable individually. They will be entirely reliant on your teammates’ builds and effectiveness to work. But when they come together, how powerful they will be will be amazing. The community hasn’t reached that stage yet. Everyone is still focused on coming up with individual builds that will work with any team composition. I’m not saying this will be the BEST build out there when people get to that stage or anything of the sort. I’m saying it’s an example of one of the possible options out of hundreds that will develop in the future. And even then I only mentioned what synchronizing with one other person will do. Imagine synchronizing with 4 other people. Once again I say, the EXACT same thing happened in GW1.

This is a team game, play this build with a friend running a Necromancer with boon removal…GG bunker builds. I’m betting the people hating on this build haven’t even tried it out. I tried it. It’s not bad. It also takes A LOT of skill to use as well as coordination with your teammates. It’s also the most fun build I’ve ever used. And isn’t that the real reason why we play? Don’t expect to just “try this build out for a little and be good with it.” You’ve really got to work with it. Give it time. Learn the abilities. Learn when to and when to not use them. Learn the appropriate moment to begin chaining CCs so a target is helpless for a 8-10 second duration…if they don’t die first. Learn how to work with your teammates to shut down bunkers who rely on their boons instead of their skill. I can see this build becoming very viable in tPvP in the future. Probably not right now simply because people aren’t really synergizing their builds cross-profession with their teammates to maximize effectiveness and come up with ridiculously powerful combos. People are just finding builds that are generally effective in any tPvP environment with any team and using them. Synergizing builds cross-profession with teammates is what will happen in the future. It will take time for the playerbase to reach that skill level though. Same thing happened in GW1. It just takes a little while.

Bow better for WvW, Rifle better for dungeons (specifically bosses)

I wouldn’t necessarily say that the rifle is better than the bow in dungeons…at all actually. The bow can set up the fire combo field (which also ticks for a lot of burning damage) not only can you set up the fire combo field but you can maintain it just about permanently on a dungeon boss fight. The combo field will work wonders for your allies and remember that dungeons are a team effort. Get the trait stronger bowstrings by putting 10 points into tactics and every attack from the bow becomes a combo finisher…and the auto-attack shoots two arrows per attack…that’s two combo finishers in your fire field per autoattack…that’s HUGE. The bow is capable of dealing more single target damage than the rifle, especially in dungeons. But a lot of that damage may be coming from your teammates comboing in your fire field. Also, setting down a combo field, then switching to Sword/Axe is amazing. Leap through it, whirl in it, back at full adrenaline, hop out, place another combo field, rinse & repeat. Arcing shot can also hit for pretty big damage too and is on a low cooldown…and grants AoE might in the fire combo field.

But yes, bow is more AoE and rifle is single target damage. Hoewever, in something like a dungeon fight when fights are prolonged and stationary, AoE will start to do more single target damage than a single target damage weapon…wierd huh?

Your Keyboard and Mouse Setups

Rolling with the standard keyboard that came with my PC and a 3-button mouse…ahhh yeeaaa. Heal/6 bound to Left Shift. 7 bound to X. 8 bound to C. 9 bound to V. Elite/0 bound to B. Burst/F1 bound to Mouse 3. Dodge bound to R. The only problem is when I play another profession I have to reach up to the F2-F4 keys but all in all I recommend this keybinding setup to ANYONE who only has a standard mouse and keyboard.

High level Warrior streams

I wonder if there are streams of successful Warriors who do not use the wombo combo. kitten got old a long time ago.

HB is still effective if you land it the efficient way (I.E making use of unsuspecting foe and not Bulls Charge). Sadly casuals and low skill players like you can’t even wake up to reality that its sad.

And you know what backs up my statement? If you have no stun breaks and immobilize removal IT WILL LAND. The fact that you can make plays around this statement is enough to show I’m right.

Seriously stop talking about Warrior as if you actually tried to get good with the class cause clearly you didn’t since its too hard for you.

He never said it was bad or didn’t take skill….he just said that it got old a long time ago. As in, “it’s no longer entertaining to watch.” Unless you’re referring to previous posts on different threads, your reply to him/attack on him is pretty unwarranted and irrelevant.

Warriors: The best tankers In this game.

The difference is that a Warrior provides better offensive capabilities than a Guardian while providing less support. It depends on how much support you need. In many cases, the amount of support a Warrior brings is “enough.” Having too much support CAN be a bad thing but many people don’t realize this. If you have nothing but support you will suffer greatly when it comes to dungeon run times especially in circumstances when you have to pump out damage fast or you become overwhelmed (Ascalonian Catacombs explorable path 3 in the lover’s room is a basic example). In many cases, a fully support specced Guardian is more support than is actually needed. It’s safer, sure, and may be the better choice if you’re running dungeons with people who aren’t very skilled or are extremely squishy but the best dungeon groups will have 5 party members running fairly balanced builds. This will allow everyone to have good enough survivability to avoid dying while dishing out damage that is still extremely good.

Wanna have some fun? Run a dungeon with 5 healing shout warriors who all put the Warbanner in their elite slot. Alternate who drops the Warbanner at each fight so it is present at every fight you do. Have everyone bring different weapons to maximize damage versatility. Make sure someone brings longbow to set up those combo fields and someone brings Warhorn for the Vigor. Laugh at your enemies as conditions roll off of you like they never existed (Runes of the Soldier required obviously) and your health never dips below 90% unless you take a direct hit from a big boss and even then, that’s what your 6 slot heal skill is for right? Nearly permanent 25 stacks of vulnerability on enemies, permanent fury, huge stacks of might, and 0 time kiting while remaining in melee range 100% of the time will mean you provide insane damage. Those combo fields from the longbow are gonna work wonders too. Couple this with the fact that stacks of defiant will roll off of bosses so fast you’ll forget they were even there and you’ve got bosses who are just laying on the ground with 5 Warriors jumping up and down on top of them, beating them out of existence. You don’t even need Cleric’s gear to run this (as healing power really doesn’t scale all that well). The best setup I’ve found: Soldier’s armor (power/toughness/vitality), Berserker’s Jewelry (power/precision/critical damage), Replace the Jewels within the Berserker’s Jewelry pieces with Exqusite Sapphire Jewels (healing/power/toughness) (because a little more healing power is nice and you don’t need THAT much damage), Berserker’s weaponry (Rampager’s on one-handed swords, longbow, and rifle (precision/power/condition damage)) My traits: 15 in Defense – I, Embrace the Pain. 30 in Tactics – VI, Empowered (change this out for IV, Stronger Bowstrings if using a longbow), IX, Quick Breathing (change this to VII, Shrug it Off if not using a Warhorn), XII, Vigorous Shouts. 25 in Discipline – VI, Inspring Shouts, VII, Sweet Revenge. (5 points can be dropped from Discipline and put into Defense if you want one of those traits instead of the additional might on weapon swap). Hmm, looks like I sort of turned this into a build post. Oh well, I should probably post my own thread about this build. Been tweaking it since before Beta and I think I finally perfected it.

This is purely from a PvE/dungeon/WvW perspective. SPvP/TPvP is a completely different story where the amount of support that a Guardian can bring often IS necessary.
