It’s obvious Isn’t[space]it? Sylvari are secretly sabotaging it.
If you didn’t have your personal story active then yes it might not have counted. But all you get for completing Arah is 50 silver + the “rare” hat.
You then have to travel back to Fort Trinity, check your quest to see if that’s what it says to do
I was discussing something with a friend in a dungeon the other day, critting for X amount on sword 3 the other day.
One of the other warriors in the team perked up and said "but I hit for like 20k per hit on hundred blades.
A lot of people don’t understand it’s actually counting up the 5k every time, it’s not an obvious concept and I’m surprised gw2 has this sort of thing in it considering the NPE is meant to dumb down make Guild Wars 2 easier to understand and play.
What really needs to be included from the PvP side of things;
Traits
Amulet
Rune
Sigils
Utilities+Elite+Heal
The only way to ensure weapons would work is to revert to a basic model of pvp weapons for characters
As for PvE..
The only real thing that is needed is traits and Utilities.
PvE/WvW has personal weapons that are tied in with sigils and armor with runes so that really shouldn’t be too difficult.
No no I like the feed back. I personally like being against a wall on my warrior at Alpha for the GS3 into a wall that allows for the extra dodge and the damage. (I feel it does pop a nice amount.) While it is true that the dragons tooth can be fatal to teams, I really don’t see it happening when stacking for Alpha. I think its more dangerous to have the team spread out so that if someone doesn’t dodge the AoE death move (yeah that’s what i’m calling it :c) they can get rezzed easily and doesn’t wipe the team.
I really just dislike people that join other peoples runs and try to dictate the terms and tactics. It just doesn’t make any sense to me :v
No the point of this armor, was that you could use it as a substitute to normal armor. However there is no real pull to buy it unless you really are that strapped for cash.
The point to this was that you could use it for “free” and get runes for “free” without it overly affecting the market. It perhaps should also be unskinnable.
This would mean that you could get whatever stats you liked, with whatever rune you like for WvW badges. However people would want ascended stuff or would rather skin their gear how they want.
The real purpose of this is for people with a lot of alts wanting to play them in WvW. This gear would be exotic 80 stats.
Corner stacking is useful for other things not just FGS. Other ele skills like StaffFire 4 are a lot more effective if used against a wall. (or at least to my knowledge it is I rarely play ele)
Generally the most important thing is the fact the boss / mobs don’t move around so much. I mean even fighting Alpha in the open can be a pain (not difficult just annoying) when he’s moving further and further back from you for no apparent reason. It enables people to use their AoE more effectively too.
Furthermore it allows people to use skills and have the whole team benefit from them. If people just stand where they want they might miss the Hallowed Ground or the Wall of Reflection. With stacking this doesn’t happen so much.
The real issue is there are a lot of varying degrees of tactics.
In gw1 DoA GW1 for example we had;
Frostway which was the generic pug tactic. This allowed for Hard Mode completion in around 1:20
DoASC Duo tank which was the generic DoASc easy mode build. This allowed for 40-45 minute runs.
DoASc kitten Trench which become the norm for DoASc guilds. This allowed for 30-40 minute runs.
DoASC 4 lord which evolved to become the norm for the majority of DoASc guilds. This allowed for 25-30 minute run.
There were then record tactics that allowed for theoretical 15 minute runs that never got fully tested.
Now these all had some tactics in common, however some were vastly different. Some were for less experience players that still wanted to do the dungeon in a fairly effective fashion. Others were for the best of the best players that pushed for records.
Some of the tactics in Frostway and even in proper DoASC duo tank builds were changed up to make it easier for less experienced players. Sometimes certain skills were taking for people Learning roles.
Did this make them not viable? No.
Did this stop them completing the instance? No.
So while it might not be “optimal” or the fastest way possible. If it works for the group, then why the hell does it matter?
So what if someone isn’t as experienced as YOU. Why the hell do people seem to think they need some sort of medal for calling others less experienced.
“Oh you’re not as good as this game as me? You shouldn’t play because you’re bad. You should L2p SCRUB!!!”
I’m sorry are you that starved for attention that you look for it in game? Go and be good at something in real life and get the praise for it there. Don’t ruin other peoples gaming experience just because you think everyone should be as good as you.
People play this game for different reasons why on earth do you (idk who the ‘you’ is here.) but it could so be done without.
I realize this has actually evolved into a really sort of hateful post about elitist attitudes… so I apologize now it just sort of came out.. :| Also I’m fairly sure that Chrome is correcting my English to American.. so there is that.
Did you buy ascended recipe’s from the armor NPC? I realize this is a vendor but still you might not have noticed.
Not many people play engineers.
I think the problem isn’t that they are “OP” it’s that they are in such abundance.
Engineer has been daily nearly every day or every other day and people flock to this class and there is usually 2-3 per match. That’s 30% of the matchings when theres 8 classes.
Even beyond that, some matches have 2 engineers and 2 d/d eles on the same team. Having 4 bunker classes that have high damage output, aoe support, damage and conditions can be a very difficult team composition even if those 4 are soloQ.
The supply crate does feel a little bit strong compared to other elites.
2 second AoE stun
Blast finisher (might or heals or stealth or w/e)
AoE heals
General heals
Immobilize
Damage
If traited, they will explode on destruction – doing damage and knocking back
(Unsure if this applies to supply crate) – Reflective turrets and Self repairing turrets
Creates a reflective shield and they are “harder” to kill.
Cele amulet probably should get toned down a bit. Especially on classes that have insane amounts of heals and heal over time.
TIL Might stacks affect healing.
2 points on the LFG tool that need fixing.
1st – Trying to join parties that are filling up exceptionally fast – Ie. Silverwastes maps even @20% are filling up extremely quickly. Trying to join these parties often leaves you not actually joining as the party is already full.
However, the LFG tool still counts this as a “joined party” and limits you to not being able to join more parties.
2nd- Offline function. I’m on NA servers Dragonbrand. But I live in the UK (might be the issue i dont know. But when appearing offline I am unable to join groups in NA servers. My LFG listings actually pull me into the EU server LFG for some reason. Would be a great fix.
The armor for badges in WvW is pretty useless. I’m sure everyone agrees with this due to the fact you can’t salvage runes off of it without a salvage extractor which is at least 3x as expensive as just buying another rune completely.
So suggestion;
Remove the gold price for the WvW Armor; add a “WvW maps only” requirement to it.
Add a trader for badges that supply a “WvW version” of EVERY rune, that can ONLY be brought with badges. – No gold.
I think with the new expansion coming it’d be nice to see Orr cleansed of the risen due to the personal story. It’d be nice to see a lot of the changes actually influence the living world.
With this said, it’d mean the current personal story would have to be reworked as more “History Living Story” if that makes sense.
This way they could cleanse orr and it not really affect the story.
However a complete overhaul of the 3 orr zones I think might be too much work.
I mean the temple events, they’d have to perhaps be replaced by mobs like this
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Enchanted_Sword_
that we have since seen in GW2
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Arcana_Obscura
So perhaps this is possible and I think rebuilding these somewhat less frequented areas now to reflect the living world would be refreshing but it’d probably take too much work for something that is already working fine.
ITMIGHTBEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!
At current count 34
I think its so funny that people even pay for p1 AC
-I say this as an ex-gwscr admin (if you don’t know what this is then /lol) who was a huge part of a similar toxic community in GW1.
I myself run meta builds, and if I want my party to be running the same, I ask them to tell me what build they have and to link their gear.
I think its funny to watch people in this thread and in game say “we need dps” and then the person that lived the longest and can therefore keep doing damage is kicked.
A ranger in the grawl shaman fractal is somewhat penalized due to it’s lack of AoE. That being said, if the team hasn’t got a Guardian or Mesmer in it anyway that can handle the reflects needed it’s not going to be a good experience.
It can also tag a lot of mobs with cripple from barrage which allows for self rally and some CC. One of the other crucial parts of the boss fight if people get downed is killing a target to rally. This is something a ranger can do from ranged very well. It also does dps on the shaman so i’d never call a ranger “useless” in fractals.
I’ve watched full zerker teams get rekt on Mai Trinn and I’m left soloing it on my Warrior. Sometimes swapping off full zerker for a particular boss fight is better than dying over and over because the team coordination isn’t as good as it could be, some peoples skill expertise might be in a different area of the game, or 10 other reasons that taking too much damage in long fights means zerker isn’t always the best option.
People saying “you’re a noob” or whatever because you’re running a build that isn’t “meta” is terrible frankly.
Oh you spent 100g+whatever else on your gear? Good for you. Did your LFG message say “meta full zerk only?” “did you ask for my gear/build?” “no? kitten then”
I run meta builds a lot, but I change them up depending on my situation and most importantly WHAT WORKS FOR ME
I used to run Feline Grace on my thief until I was more comfortable dodging in some dungeons. Is that part of the Thief Meta? It is not. Did it mean I wasn’t dying all the time? Yes. Did it help me learn when to dodge? Yes. Did it mean i was able to contribute to the whole fight? Yes. Did it make me a worse player? No.
Some people are of the opinion. RUN THIS BUILD OR LEAVE.
What they actually mean is. RUN THIS BUILD WELL, WITH THIS GEAR AND DO THIS EXACT ROTATION TO PUT OUT THE MOST DAMAGE ASURANLY POSSIBLE OR YOU’RE BAD CUZ YOU CANT DO THIS AND WE ALL CAN (even tho most ppl running meta builds just spam 2 and think they are doing it right.)
Sounds pretty boring to me. Having to run the same rotation over and over with the exact same skills/build as everyone else all the time. Oh this boss has projectiles? YAY I GET TO USE WALL OF REFLECTION THIS TIME GAIS!!!
I’m unsure why people say this “As always, start your own group if you don’t want to run the right builds.”
The right builds? What? Just what? This is the toxic side of the community that this game could really do without.
I don’t want to name and shame on a forum, but some members of one of the high end dungeon pve guilds has joined a few runs I started over the last few weeks.
Purely from LFG, and all my LFG message was “p1p2p3 80s”
So I’m not expecting anything particularly special.
In some of these encounters, these members have been the first to die, then rage at everyone in the party because they didn’t stand in the right place?
I’m sorry what? This is where every group I’ve been in has stood.
In some of these encounters, these members have said “why are we attacking from range, lets go melee” so we go melee and they are the first to die. Then the team wipes. The team is called noobs and they then proceed to leave.
In some of these encounters, it’s “why are you using this weapon? LOL?” then they proceed to leave OR even better, request kicks for that person. Hence why I now always run with a friend so we can kick people like this.
TL;DR
Get of your toxic high horses. If you want to play with ONLY meta builds. You specifically state that in your LFG messages. You don’t join groups and leave because YOU have a problem with it. Don’t tell other people how to kittening play a game. Or that they aren’t allowed to play how they want in a “FoTM 50s exp” lfg group.

I’d like them to move away from Achievement point hunting = content.
Log in today and get your achievement points! Yay!! I’ve missed nearly 8k worth of dailies and like 3k worth of monthlies I’m not all that interested in AP tbh.
But realistically having a wishlist..
1. Elite Areas – Underworld/Fissure of Woe/Domain of Anguish/Urgoz/The Deep
- These areas were great and loved by many, they already have the quests and the map designs.
2. New harder fractals – If we don’t get an elite area, see FoW/DoA etc as fractals. Maybe the Foundry of Failed Creations as a fractal. Twould be epic.
3. Guild Halls – Including GvG, Incorporate a guild arena (practice arenas), NPCS + Crafting stations – Don’t force guild merits for these so smaller guilds can have them too.
4. New zones with world bosses – World bosses are obviously an activity people do daily. But the spam 1 to win concept is dull and boring. The new SW boss is pretty good and doesn’t require too much coordination but it takes “some” it’s not just press 1 and win. More metas like this would be good – However ones that are on fixed times so people know when to go and it becomes a routine.
5. New personal story – The game is ever changing. The personal story at this point in the game doesn’t reflect the rest of the world.
- Implementing a new personal story to better reflect the current world and having the old personal story like a “history” story.
6. Cantha – purely because it was my favorite
So solo Q’ers get punished even more vs 5qs?
This really has to stop.
With a pokemon comic i thought was adorable!
Main character immunity.
lol’d @this thread. Especially that OP is an engineer complaining about something.
\o/ yay for broken patch
Why are you even playing?
No tactic or item should ever be banned from all time records. If you can complete something in 14 minutes using exploits then do it. Because that is the fastest it CAN be completed.
If that exploit or bug is fixed then create a current meta record table and an all time record table.
Reminiscent of GW1 the 2 minute Shards of Orr completion using the res scroll exploit. Or the first 14 minute post Dhuum UW clear bugging 7 heroes into the instance and hiding them in a siege turtle. These were legitimate records in my honest opinion and no amount of bugs/exploits should deny a record.
The SC community of gw1 and gw2 prides itself on finding the FASTEST way to do things.
There can never be a grey area on records. Either you allow everything or you disallow everything.
I left gwscr adminning when I quit and hadn’t bothered to return since playing again as I assumed it was being maintained by the “new” mods. I’d have returned and continued if I knew.
Apologies gl with the new site (:
One of the reasons wvw doesn’t queue so much anymore is a lot of those extra people are now in EoTM as it’s easier and more rewarding the WvW is generally. The WvW population is now spread across 5 maps rather than 4 and while this 5th map isn’t contributing directly to any home worlds score, it removes a lot of Blue/Red players from maps that they desperately need.
Flipping towers/keeps in EoTM gives a champ loot bag from 61+ and they are rarely defended, rarely sieged up and theres usually 20-30 other people to take it with.
In WvW, finding the numbers (out of guild raid times) attacking undefended, non-upgraded towers/keeps takes longer and for the same reward. Why bother WvW at all?
I think Heart of Thorns is a good title for LS Season 2.
So maybe, after the final chapter gets released, there will be a boxed bundle including all 8 chapters that players, who pick up the game after LS S2 finished can buy.
Instead of paying 150 gems for each episode, they can buy it for 800 gems or 10 bucks, if Anet decides to put out a box to put in stores (for extra visibility).
This is part of current speculation and it’s admittedly not necessarily a bad idea. I just don’t think that they would promote a large panel to announce content that players have already completed.
Maybe i missed it but how is trademarking Heart of Thorns in any way related to PAX?
My fault, this is speculation on my part that the PAX announcement will be GW2: HoT.
So they gonna announce GW2:HoT at PAX without being able to use the Logo until 8th of April?
If they can’t use it till 8th of april.. We’re gonna be fighting mordre for a long kitten time ://///
The sheer profit they make from the gemstore should pay the way for any new content or expansions. You have people in LA/DR all the time saying how much $$ they’ve invested into the game for character slots, permanent gathering tools, black lion keys. There are so many people that pump money into the gemstore.
The one thing that will bother me, is if they don’t an expansion on the gemstore. While a lot of people are happy to pay the $20 for a new expansion – and most will happily. I think it’d be a nice sign to see the same expansion for X000 gems as well. This allows everyone to experience the new content- while raking in the $$$$$ from the people that can afford it too.
GW1 had no real “shop” other than character slots. Everything else seemed less important. Skill unlocks and skins sure, and eventually a make over ticket but this really came towards the end of the games life.
GW2 has a much bigger player base and just looking around at the player base I see people with endless logging tools, Job-o-tron back packs, costumes and Flutes all the time. They are making a lot of money from just the people buying the items – Not to mention all the people that exchange gems – gold on a monthly if not weekly basis.
I do not believe GW2 needs to release a paid expansion for this reason alone.
However! We shall see what PAX brings and the update today might hint at whats to come.
10/10 is gonna be FoW/UW style dungeon but this time it’s Melandru based. Heart of Thorns and all.
It could be interesting to display the MMR, even without numeric values, in a way that players can understand it.
While I love your mockup, I’m not sure how that would avoid the problems associated with showing MMR.
I don’t understand how you can take this stance when we have AP on public display.
Why even bother hiding MMR when you can add someone to FList, see they have 800 AP and instantly know they are a new player?
Admittedly for in this case it’s a bit different, people that spend most of their time in PvP might have little/high amounts of AP but their skill level isn’t shown here. However the fact we can see how much someone plays already should give some indication of skill level.
Until you remove AP from public display I see no reason not to put MMR on public display.
Also these 4 engineers +1 ranger premades in unranked are boring. Every match of mine today just about has been 500-49~ usually my team winning, but this time it’s the other way around. Something seems wrong, matches shouldn’t be this easy.
Class swapping should be allowed until such a time that matchmaking doesn’t stack 3 guards vs 4 engineers.
Regardless of what the other team is running, being able to change class so you have 1 of each rather than 5 of the same shouldn’t be punished.
@Justin
You want our attention? If I’m queuing you already have my attention. I’ve consciously decided I want to queue for PvP.
I personally don’t want the game I spend a considerable amount of time on to annoy me, this is the sort of thing that is irritating and unnecessary.
Play our super stronk class daily for rewards !!!!
Jump puzzle takes about 1:40~ to complete and you have 10-15s after the match is over to finish and loot chest.
As for Bells. Leaving and rejoining the song can fix the instant bug issue. Never use portals to enter Wintersday festival instances, use the NPC next to the portal this way you never get double teleported inside after leaving.
I’ve sat a few really PC game illiterate friends down and tried bells since the festival started and not one of them wasn’t able to complete a song, perhaps a few tries to work out what was going on.
Most of the people complaining about this want instant gratification and not actually sit and try it a bit to get the hang of it.
I can understand if you have a 2 fps pc and a terrible network speed. But if not, and you’re not capable of doing this I’m not quite sure how you’re able to tackle the more engaging elements of the game you’re playing.
When map selection comes up, it forces you to click one before you can do something else. It’s got an “always on top” feel to it. You can’t move it.
I was trying to buy some dungeon armor to finish my collection, map menu popped and I had to choose.
It just feels clunky and “old”.
The whole gw2 UI needs a revamp imo but thats a whole different story.
(edited by Arietta The Broken.1875)
Just gonna leave this here from the other day… posted it on forums before but //relevant.
Also, just a side bar.
The match making/map choosing UI is horrible. Fix please. -
User ISP has a blip
Anet ISP has a blipThere are a lot of connections along the way (called hops) that could be having issues. This is what I was getting at.
So this being out of both user and company hands, the player gets punished for unforeseeable and issues out of their control? That sounds like a good plan.
Brb ringing my ISP to ask if theres gonna be any blips before I queue this match. every 10mins.
EDIT
If it’s not the players direct fault and the company can’t work out a way to solve it, there shouldn’t be a punishment for the player until the company can work a way around it
Due to the amount of circumstances that could come into play;
Power cut
PC over heats
User ISP has a blip
Anet ISP has a blip
Anet has a blip it’s unwilling to admit
Changing characters to fit your solo Q buddies cuz class stacking – so u have a chance against the cute premades in unranked
As long as the player reconnects – they shouldn’t get counted as a deserter. None of these are under human control.
-Saying this however, I got DCd at the start of courtyard and my team was 125 points down 0-125.. we then came back and won. I got something like 1350 points for the win? So..?
I’m sick of Game companies telling me that “it can’t be our end or everyone would be affected”
The last few games I’ve played only X% of the population were affected from all over the world on the same servers. Yet it was nothing to do with the game providers. It had to be the mass amounts of users that had got something wrong all at the same time to give 100000000000000000000ms
=-/
Class stacking? What class stacking.
Changing your classes to compliment your team? WE DONT ALLOW THAT.
Oh lets not give those solo Q’s any chance against a full team.
5 solo Qs vs a team comp on comms = legit fun.
I’ve gotten p1p2p4 on my main account and p3 on my other 2 accounts. Sods law really :>
So I was in Courtyard on a team support build. For the 1st half of the match I could tell I had the traits assigned. Skills were working correctly and I was getting healed for applying boons to allies etc.
All this changed at some point during the match. I realized that I wasn’t getting healing as much as I should have been. Shouts weren’t recharging as fast as they should have.
So I checked out my traits incase I’d missed something, only to realise they had all reset to 0 :v
Reruns.
Sky+ (recording tv)
No reply to this still :/ I know it’s not game breaking but shutting the client down every time gives me a serious error is a bit annoying.
Just a bit off topic- sort of.. Anyone remember the GW1 chat filters blocking NPC names because "Quim"ang
I’m sorry Gaile but I have to disagree with your comment here.
Until level 80, you don’t unlock the top tier of traits, this puts any downscaled level 80 over a significant advantage over a level 79 character.
Until level 80 most people will not invest in a specific rune set up, armor set up or accessory set up. Again this makes a down leveled 80 stat wise at a huge advantage over a true leveled character.
I realize you acknowledge that a downscale is at a higher power level than an actual leveled character but I do think the difference is a lot more significant than you do.
This can make very populated starter areas very difficult to complete if you’re just starting out due to other people killing all the mobs (during daily events.)
Ironically since NPE tried to make it easier.
As far as the reporting thing goes. I’ve reported plenty of people for being hostile and using offensive language. I have added them to my block list and still see them log in daily so I’m not entirely sure reporting anyone does a great deal unless multiple people are reporting them:/
