I greatly dislike current “luck” system.
Additionally; if it’s gamble, bets should be 20 cents not 112,5 cents. We love slot machines since they have quick cycle and high “winning” chance – and low bets. Naturally majority keeps playing so they lose in the end. BLTC chests? Abysmal winning chance with huge bets – no winning nor fun at all! I still belive cheaper keys (or gems) would bring more to Anet’s table. Were tokens added, it’d be way less immoral as well. Someone could say even “fair”.
2 kinds of gems however, like someone pointed out, would cause some rage between haves and have-nots.

I love ability to make over 999 at once (refining) but I dislike slider – doesn’t work properly and accurately for stuff like this.
Entering number and enter’ing after that is more work than just number. Why not meet us in the middleground? Let us set number without enter’ing afterwards and it’s bearable.

is there any way to convert karma into gold that doesn't get you banned?

Cooking, as obivious solution.
I should also mention all level 60 rare weapon crafts.
http://www.gw2db.com/items/63071-sun-bead-s
Because this baby can be bought for karma, and it costs 1575 karma to make one piece of weapon. Naturally you need 2 other parts, but you can replace rare material+inscription with sun beads.
What? Did I just crash the market for those few doing them? Oh noes.

3. t5 and t6 rare material prices crashed. Inceased amount of throwing junk to forge due cheaper raw material prices has increased supply of precursors.
When it costs only half as much to make rares to throw them into forge you kinda should expect people to end up more precursors due increased lottery tickets.
It’s not that hard to figure out. t5 rare material prices have gone down to 20 range from 80 range. That’s 60c*15*4 aka 36 silver less per forging.
Let’s say 30c for mithril ore, 45c for elder wood log. 4x rare greatswords cost
48 plank (21,6s)
96 ingot(28,8s)
60 rare mat (12s)
Which ends up 62s40c – naturally cheaper when you get other 2 mats @ cheaper price. Now compare that to 1g(98s40c) version? That’s like 57% increased supply.
Ofcourse these figures aren’t completly 1-1 related because mithril and elder wood have gone up in price (october 4th, price of mithril was 25 and elderwood log was 22 while t5 mats were in 80-90 range) due their exessive consumption due cheaper rare materials & reduced supply (no server swapping anymore for easy mats?).
So, back then it’d costed 82s56c to 88s56c (80-90c for rare t5), then price suddenly fell to some 50s~ range and tada.
We shouldn’t forge increased amount of gold in circulation (inflation, anyone) which should increase amount of junk thrown to forge because people just can afford doing that.

Naturally I could be completly wrong – but then it should be easy to prove that.

EDIT
Okey, I decided not to be complete jerk. I do have master crafter and I do all crafts for profits (not cooking, since guildie does that and I don’t want to step on his toes). The small little things to remember are
- Find cheap materials. Just collecting them yourself (farming) doesn’t often bring enough bread to table. Sure you can do that too, but farming ain’t crafting.
- Find out what sells.
- Don’t be too greedy. Just because some item could have 50 silver profit margin for 2g investment, it doesn’t mean that’s an autowin stituation. Huge profits bring in huge competition. Fair price gives less competition and sells more in long run.
- Patience – you might need to wait some items to sell over weekend even if you craft them wednesday.
- ..which leads to gold and capita. You need some gold to buy enough materials (in bulk) when they’re cheap and you need to have enough money so you can spread out instead of selling just 1 item.
- Homework. Find out what sells, for what price, when it sells, how much it costs to make and how much cheaper you could make it. Find out where’s competition and where you can compete yourself.
See, I gave plenty of tips. Now I’ll end up broke cause increased competition. Why oh why did I do that? Maybe I’m misleading you, and hoarded all materials, and wait their price to rise! Evil genius!

I do agree that it’s “vanity” item, and I actually use it whenever I need forging – instead of walking to forge. Cool one to have, sure. Necessary? Not at all.
But I also do think OP has nice stock of them for sale, and due the fact price has gone down a bit, he’d like to pump it up again to get some gold off from all those relatively cheap ones he bought during these few days. Had I not wasted my gold in halloween madness, I’d stock few of them myself too.

There’s achievement for using them (transmutation stones), and I’ve heard there’s also loop-able hidden achievement for using them which kicks in every 50 transmutes (after initial 40 transmute achievement, so 90th, 140th and so on).

Also, to those who compare this to lottery. You play lotto because you’ve distant hope of winning – not because you’d expect it. Slotmachines, however, you play because you know you’ll win. Doesn’t realle mean that you break even, because you keep playing, but because you win every now and then. And nobody spends thousands of insert currency in lotto every week but small bets. Here lots of us spend lots because they want that certain number from RNG – huge difference. I’m fanboy too, but let’s be realistic and stop defending bad odds.

If it sells for 2s and someone offers 1s50c, grab n’ resell. That’s 20c profit which means 10% profit from listing price, or 12,5% profit for your investment.
I’m always glad to make 5% profit from single transaction.

(part 2)
Purpose of TP is, as far as I’ve understood, to:
- Redistribute final products, at cheap price when possible.
- Goldsink (15% fee, or 10% of selling + repeated 5% listing fees)
Purpose of TP is not to take wealth from majority to hands of minority. That doesn’t maximize fun because fun of few is worth less than fun of majority.
Also, were there to be 3 days cycle and not refunding then that wouldn’t lead to price drop of precursors. Only them being removed from market untill there is loads of gold to buy them at insane prices. I don’t want to risk 5% of price of rare quality product that has long cycle time. People wouldn’t try sell them before they know there’d be profit and because making one is so expensive, people would make them less for sale which leads them being less avaviable. Only ones profiting are one selling materials for gambling machine, or constant buy-order wars untill someone completes them (why risk your money to sell, if you can wait them to bid high enough and sell yourself risklessly?)
Other side of coin to your other suggestion, why put buy order for precursor if you lose 5% of that anyway? That’s hellova lot of gold….
Back to case of refunding after auction time is over; Because increasing price of precursor or any given good is so expensive to flipper it in fact discourages (constant) flipping. If you get money back after 3 days, what stops you going even higher if market goes as well? Only reason not to would be losing 5% of price as listing fee.
This being said, I could live with refunding after 7 or 30 days, but were it mere 3 days, that would do more harm than good.
For final words; If you’ve unlimited credit then it’s easy to make unlimited profit. This, however, isn’t case in majority of cases. Not even with majority of TP players.

I’d like to enlight people little, and I give huge trade secret away while doing so.
“Bots” don’t often set sell orders. They just dumb theit inventory to TP by matching buy orders. They want their gold instantly and lack patience to wait and compete against each other. Why should they care as long as they get more from TP than vendor? And every copper they make is copper to sell some desperate enough to spend their dollar and dime on it. This is naturally stricly about farming bots and I lack ability to comment on “TP bots” since I haven’t met such behaviour myself. (Yet I’ve heard about some listing automagically replaced when old one is sold, with small inventory – while this might be true I lack first person experience.)
TP players buy those orders in HUGE quantities, and relist them for higher price. Low risk, nice profit IF you know your market and don’t put all eggs in same basket. These players kinda wash the money, and make profit themselves while doing so. Not intentionally evil, and I’m not saying they should be punished for it, but they’re being devil’s avocades here. Anyone claiming that all their huge buy orders were completed by players themselves deciding to sell during 30 minutes out of 1440 minutes inside 24 hour cycle are just lying to others, to themselvers or just being delusional. I won’t judge you guys – go ahead and pick one yourselves.
I’ve followed market since headstart, so while I don’t have “hard proof” I still do speak from experience. Up to you swallow or not.
Now about making tons of money, don’t know about that. I don’t do hundreds of gold per day, but I do make tens. Not keeping too tight calculations of my inventory because they’re not liquid and tend often to take few days to sell, and follow market swifts. I do however keep some 50-150 gold in gold and maybe same amount in buy orders of dozens and dozens items that I try to follow and do my homework. And yes, I do also keep buy orders in rare mats that are being sold to TP by juvenile bear infestation and I do flip them but I try to avoid huge profits to somewhat keep clear conscience.
Now, to you cheese.
1) Maybe, maybe no. Some items have stable price now – would be pity to lose their stable prices and drive market to chaos because of this. Then again, wether or no all orders prior vendor+1 price should be refunded – AGREED.
2) Why 3 days? That doesn’t even count weekly cycle nor even monthly cycle. Not to mention, some of items have WAY slower circulation than 3 days. Like precursors, for example.
3) Hmm. Why? If sell price and buy price have 1c difference then market is on balance.
If someone is keeping their sell order from being undercut by artificially keeping buy order below that, he’ll increase his inventory by players who are willing to sell, and lose money due 15% taxation UNLESS he relists that newly acquired inventory by buyorder/0.85 1(n) . Repeated relisting and ((x/0,85) +1+n) price inceasing won’t be followed forever.
If you tried to talk about market manipulation where buy order price is steadily increased by your own buy orders, and then finaly dumbing your inventory when price goes up then imho you’re entitled to do so if you’ve both inventory and capita. Just don’t come to cry when your stock keeps due supply being higher than demand to point where you’ve invested all your capita. And/or that you’re forced to sell newly acquired inventory at loss.
1c undercutting everywhere is cool. If you’re TP player then you are required to have patience for winning. Flipping cannot be only way to generate gold, you know. Not even on stock market. Players also benefit from cheaper prices (while buying). Items beside cooking products have NPC vendor value which is there to ensure they will always have way to generate gold.

part 2.
So, what can we do/say? Buy gems with gold now while they’re still cheap – if possible. Kinda wish Anet would make buying gems with RL currency more appealing at it is right now, but that’s slim hope. (So those of you who buy gems and convert it to gold would be happier.) Let’s hope instead that there’ll be something worth of buying in BLTCGS in future outside bank updates/backbag updates/character slots(/digital deluxe). We need more look sets in their current price range, not some overpriced dyes and slot machines. We need vanity stuff! Hats, for example, if you want TF references.
New dance animations, and animations overall, ability to show off our city clothes (because that’s somewhat limited feature at the moment) or even some single prices minipets. There’s tons of good vanity stuff in other games’ cash shops that can be used as inspiration (not to copy directly, ofc). Just please don’t add anythign that’s “required to win”.
Anet, it’s your job to kill those bots farming gold and those companies that sell that gold. Heck, give a message. If player’s caught buying gold, remove that gold from their account even if it goes negative. In some cases that can be worse than just banning them for good – depends kinda if they already bought everything they need with that gold and can be at ease with negative gold. (Would require account wide fix for that, not just character based.) Rollback + one weel ban could be also nice punishment for first timer… If people know that they’ll be liquified for buying gold then they’ll be less tempted to buy gold. Less tempted they are to buy gold, less tempted are companies to sell gold which in fact should mean that they’ll eventually move to some other games. (Not all of them, naturally, but just ones looking to maximize their profits. Few stubborn ones are bound to stay I bet as long as there’s any opportunity to make money. Cannot really blame them.)
So yeah, Anet, do your job and make their (gold sellers, not us the players) life as miserable as possible. (Stricly in game/business reference, please don’t go to China and abuse them in their slavery gaming rigs – hopefully not too offending joke’ish.) Remove demand and supply will go down. We players will thank because gold in circulation will go down and gem prices will respectively go down as well (Those who complain how expensive gems are to buy with gold and compare RMT offers for gold to be used to buy gems – I’m looking at you here), or in worst case scenario we don’t have to QQ as much because of juvenile brown bear infestations. Yeah yeah yeah, some of us who actually benefit from their spam in TP will cry because there’ll be less profit opportunities. I wonder how many players actually feel bad because their buy-orders were completed by bots? Or how many are just happy because they “found genuine spot in trade post that generates easy gold” – for them.
Inflate gems (more gems per euro/dollar/yen) to give gem buyers more gold if you’re looking for short term solution. Otherwise exchange ration will go towards real balance at steady speed and both sides will be happy once they realize that gold today is worth way less than gold three weeks ago, or way more then gold after today. Our pleads to add ability to set our price should be ignored, or such option should at least be serverly limited so market manipulation could be evaded as much as possible. Some visibility wouldn’t harm since that kinda gives good PR and you guys really need PR in mmo-market. Just not too much if that leads to system’s vulnerability. (Heck, you could/should point out that there’s tax in current exchange.) Removing the competition (rmt) and sending message to goldbuyers is really really really important. Sure, you’re doing your magical automagic banhammer for botting, but please, don’t be silent. Silence is close to worst PR there is.
And for finishing move; I’ve spent, by my calculations, 10 550 gems in store. And they didn’t cost me a cent (well, it took time to gather gold for them but I count that time spent as entertainment – not working like it’d be case with earning those 131,875 eur to buy them.)
Apologies for ranting, I’ve had some of this stuff on my heart for while (week, tops) and post may lack some coherence because it wasn’t written in direct order. Feel free to send hatemail.

100% free market?
Nonononononononono.
“Why precursors are so expensive?! Price has 10folder or 20folded since release” While gem prices are yet to 10fold…..
Seriously guys. Gem<→Gold exchange is working fine. In fact, gems are still too cheap when compared to gold. Only way to say they’re too expensive is if you compare to real life prices since some of the items in BLTC are somewhat overpriced. (Keys, anyone? Majority of people don’t play slot machines with 1.5 euro at shot but 20 cent a shot, and that way they spend a lot more in long run…)
My 5 cents, like nobody cares, is that “free” market without algorithm would be a lot more vulnerable to market manipulation. This leads few getting rich (ones with capita to invest and play market with tens of thousands of gems/gold – gold sellers included) and majority losing (ones paying gold for gems when they need 100 or 200).
Also, to people who are crying that “I get less gold back if I first turn my gold to gems and then my gems to gold” take breath and think for a moment. There’s transaction fee of about 16% to both directions which plays important role to prevent market manipulation.
Why? Because we players (of tp) are way less tempted to exchange gold to gems and back because of that fee (bit over double to standard in TP). There are better options to steal common players’ gold in other sections of TP and this keeps gems cheap for everyone. Take the feee off and you’ll see less stable and more spikey exchange ration.
So yes, “We who buy gems to exchange it for gold are taxed in exchange!” is somewhat fair reason to cry out loud, but since everyone is traited equally it’s not really that unfair. It’s just that the price of gems (in relation to real money) is somewhat high, as I stated earlier – or some prices in BLTC GS are too high.

I scrolled trough last few pages and didn’t find reports of similar case during last 14 days.
I do trade a lot so I was aware that I’d end up having issues with TP in some point so guess I should count myself happy for being safe this far.
I do have lots of stuff for sale, 152 auctions currently, of various goods at various prices. I have started to encounter behaviour that when I try list something for sale, TP doesn’t recognize my old stack in “sell on tp” page. I didn’t have this problem at all week ago, and during last 2 days I’ve encountered it in dozen different goods.
Removing listing and relisting seems to fix this, but I’m not fond of losing 5% of listing price dozen times in doze different goods – this becomes way too expensive in long run!
Also, this tends to happen more often with goods that I’ve multiple listing prices, and even more often if I remove one listing of said item.

Large claws, really?
Their price used to be above 70c few days ago iirc?
Then some bots entered level range, farmed a bit and dumbed their inventorys to TP as instant sell. They don’t seem to have patience to wait sales actually happening.
Common buying low and selling higher happens.
Several dozen, or hundeds, players noticed they’re cheap and buy stockpiles of them. Huge stockpiles in fact. Why?
Because you can use t5 materials to craft level 80 rares.
- Globs of ectoplasm. With current price I’d estimate some 40c per rare mat is still profitable for ecto farming at current prices. Give or take 10c..
- Precursor hunt (there are dozens of people who crafted thousand(s) items for forge. Thousand lv 80 rare greatswords mean 15 000 t5 crafting materials, such as large claw in case. With just 7 such players you’ve just bought 105 000 rare materials from TP, or 15 000 per each rare t5 rare material.
- There should still be chance to buy low and sell high even at such prices. (below 50).
- Someone random noticed it’s nice time to craft lv80 rares for use.
Guess this covers most of it. I cannot claim there wouldn’t be “bots” playing market, as I could see potential in that, but there’s plenty of players playing market themselves. And because there’s still plenty of opportunities left, I don’t see bots being viable answer (or they’re bad bots, or they’re intentionally bad bots to stay under radar).
Also, you can spam buy order after price tag to send it at least three times as opposed to writing each order separately.
