The devs have said that quality of salvage kit will make no difference in extracting EoL.
Indeed it does not. And that has nothing to do with my point.

The first 100 ecto I salavaged gave 10,560 luck and 155 dust. The second 100 ecto I salvaged gave 10,340 luck and 145 dust. That first 10,560 luck got me to something like 54% magic find, the next 10,340 only got me to 65%, so it slows down quickly. Currently at 65%, every time you get 1% more magic find, the amount of luck required to increase by 1% goes up by 40 (if I recall properly, not at a computer where I can test it, it could be 50 though). E.g. If it cost me 1000 luck to go from 64 to 65, it will cost 1040 to go from 65 to 66.
Looks like someone used basic/crude salvage kit, or Salvage-o-Matic…

And keep them account bound. And keep the timer count only online time.

Aye, same. Relogging doesn’t help and trades completed / offers canceled don’t bring any gold to pickup window.

Sorry for the off topic but this isn’t the only RNG way to get skins. Look at fractal skins. You can farm forever and not get the correct rare skin you want. I know someone that’s got almost all of them except the one he wants, some multiple times.
you cant farm forever and not get the skin you want math says your wrong there.
the chance is low yes but given the skins are there permanently(some of them) i think its ok as its something you get slowly very slowly
Apologies. What (s)he meant that you can do 250 fractal dailies, that’s 250 hours, worth of “grinding” to get that specific fractal weapon skin you want – and be without luck.
There is no getting it slowly very slowly. Either you’re lucky with your very first fractal 20 or not so lucky by the time of your 250th or 400th fractal 48 – or anything inbetween. And to even run that (prl) 48 (for best chance in rng lottery) first time you’ve spent 50+ hours in fractals.
Legendaries are someting you can obtain slowly – about 1 per month pace.

So I looked at the copper-fed salvage-o-matic and was absolutely mortified at Arenanet’s decision making on this one. It only counts as a basic salvage kit, and does not recover weapon or armor upgrades (nearly as useful as a crude salvage kit)
Copper-fed Salvage-o-matic: 800 gems = 31g12s
Cost per use: 3cBasic Salvage Kit: 88c
Cost per use: 3.52c (88c/25 uses)Right off the bat, you can tell that this is a bad deal. 0.52 copper per use better with the salvage-o-matic compared to the basic salvage kit?
Then, if we calculate the cost of the salvage-o-matic with money traded as gems (using current values), the salvage-o-matic costs 31g12s. In order to make up that difference by salvage uses alone, you would need to salvage nearly 600,000 items to make up the money lost by buying this thing. The only “benefit” is that it never breaks, which is a pretty mild benefit.
Heroes of today are busy; they’re always on the move and always looking for innovative ways to save on time and money.
Riiiiiight.
TL; DR: ArenaNet, what were you thinking? How is this a deal worth buying? Even the convenience factor doesn’t compare — I’d rather have 10 basic salvage kits sitting in my inventory than spend 31g or $10 for this.
It is a luxury item that players with gold/money can get. The cost per salvage is slightly cheaper than a basic salvage kit and has the same effect. As for it paying for itself, players who make money off of salvage(like me) tend to make an average of 10-20c per salvage. For me it will pay for itself in 2weeks. It save time since you do not have to click multiple salvage kits.
Nice, 600k~salvages in 2 weeks. You know, it doesn’t pay itself back in 10-20c per salvage but that 0.52 per salvage. Unless, ofcourse, you’d have NOT salvaged those items otherwise.
This being said and bragged, I’ve atm 3,632,665 salvages under my belt in bit under year which should mean 300k~salvages a month. Payback time would be around 2 months Then again, time saved with salvage-o-tron is big factor that I haven’t counted in copper. That’s the real saving you get – time.

I Love Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic
..
but I’d love him more if he (and apparently basic salvage kit) was more basic and less crude.
Salvaged 25k items and wondered why salvage data looked more like my crude salvage kit data than basic salvage kit.
After this I bought 1000 x Tiger’s Eye Copper Stud (blue low lv earring, comes with upgrade (jewel) and guess what? Not 20% chance of recovering upgrades. Not even near. Kinda curious, because I’ve gained 80% recovery rate when I use master salvage kits (instead of just 75%) and I’ve used thousands of them.
Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic: 750 salvages
1129 copper ore ( 150,5% chance to get)
36 Tiger’s Eye Pebble (4,8% chance to get)
Please note how this data (chance to recover upgrade) is along lines of what’s posted on wiki (5%). I was already ready to get on rage mode on forums and complain how we’ve been fooled. Ofcourse I had to do counter test to check how much basic salvage kits drop so I’ve some counter data.
Basic salvage kit: 250 salvages
407 ( 162,8%)
11 ( 4.4%)
Soo… I was ready to complain and have proof to back me up, but my data only shows that chance to recover upgrade is messed up for both basic salvage kit and Salvage-o-Matic.
Someone else with data, feel free to post!
(It costed me some 1-2g to test with earrings after selling copper.)
edit fixed some text that was there 2×.
edit2
Apparently Gems store version description says that “It does not recover upgrades from armor or weapons” but backbag versions says “20% chance of recovering”.
Does this mean that you (Anet) upgraded(downgraded) BASIC SALVAGE KIT to not give upgrades on salvage, by accident, when you added Salvage-o-Matic to gemstore?

Long story short; If you don’t want to be undercut by 1c, then don’t undercut yourself 1c. More you undercut yourself, still staying within (your) comfortable profit range, more likely you’ll end up winning.

Who cares if I have a stack of them.
The difference between friendly banter and manipulating the masses is whether or not you have any in your inventory, something which is ridiculously hard to prove (or disprove in this case).
Oh boy, “People who care about the well-being of others.” – Dont you think youre overreacting just a little?
Take ot as you like. But this topic is to make people aware of the situation. There are many putrid essence dropping. So many that a topic on the forum wont manipulate prices. Its like calling people manipulators for pumping/bashing stocks on yahoo stock forum. Lol.
But that discussion ends here. Your critism is making the topic messy and unconstructive and go under the spam category. So please stop mate – You already made your point
I care. But that has nothing to do with wellfare of other people.
I just don’t want to be part of your scheme to pump and dump your 20,000/25,000→80,000/100,000 (1-4 mules with 15/20 slotters without backbag expansions) putrid essences @ 1 silver (73,5/66,7%~% profit).
They could also be legit long time investment, but one never should underestimate power of quick pump and dump. I’ll stockpile another alt full of them once price is 49-57c margin again. After all, it’s only after 58c that someone could even possibly start making profit.

Ain’t that one of MF recipies? They all have 1 hour duration instead of usual 30 minutes, but the amount of materials to craft them is so high that there is little sense to actually craft them.
Other recipie that was introduced in MF was potent oil/sharpening stone/crystal that had 1 hour duration instead of 30 minutes and mere 20% extra “crafting price”.

Eh, some incorrect math from Vashoom.
Value of MFS:
((10x Master) – Master – Jorneyman – Fine)/3 →
((10*1536)-1536-800-288)/3 = 42s45c
So I’d use those MFS in mystic toilet RNG since it’s hard to buy lv 76-80 exos for 42s45c.
So, since you’ve free MFS it’s ok idea to make mystic salvage kits (for convenience) but if you had to buy MFS, go master. If you play rng with toilet, go master as well.

You can bug this event by pulling golem inside lab (by first aggroing inquest there and then luring golem in to attack them) thus making him enter lab earlier than intended.
This allows you to kill inquest and free Wisst from cell, but since golem haven’t completed whole patrol route before entering, he won’t be able to finish event. Sadly golem doesn’t understand this and doesn’t return to his position on patrol route before engaging – which would be easy fix. Extremely troublesome for us who try farm giant kills.

I’d like to have an ability to actually view, filter and parse “My Transactions”.
You know when you’ve something in stack @ page 88 out of 237 pages but don’t know if stack has 2 units or 238 units? And when you try to sell it uses only first 10 pages with “Add to my lowest listing” so there’s not really an easy way to check the listing without few minutes clicking.
Outsource rng → profit.
Only thing I’d really want is ability to actually view, filter and parse “My Transactions”. It’s horrible to check how much I’ve left in stack @ page 88 out of 237 pages and 2370 sell listings.
Ability to know if you’ve been under/overcut would be nice, but I’m a bit afraid of automation there.
Salvage-data itself takes some research and optimation. I don’t feel like sharing mine since that’d mean losing the upper hand. Were “all” salvage data open knowledge, competition would be likely more fierce.

… MF gear comes in two different flavors.. One will have Power, Precision, and Magic Find. The other will have Power, Condition Damage, and Magic Find.. Saying that you are loosing damage because of your MF gear is not correct. You will loose some of your defensive stats (toughness and vit) but not your attack stats. I would say it is worth it if you are looking into a long term farm with them.. And not every item that you are going to be farming for will have anywhere near a .01% chance to drop.
He’s refering to difference between berserker and explorer – crit dmg% versus MF%.
Anyway. My personal preference is not to use MF gear, but then again, I don’t “farm”.
