I agree that some crit/burst numbers need to be looked at, but c’mon peeps… put on some gear that has vitality in it…

There is the staple pvt gear for reasons, because it’s those numbers that matter most in zerg/mass settings…

Some of you are jumping into mass combat with the lowest possible health and complaining…

Get some pvt gear and get precision food/utility buffs and put all precision/fury/crit stuff inside your gears…

Come again?

This IS an elementalist in pvt armor.

If you know nothing about a class please keep your mouth shut.

Standing in wvw with ALL ascended celestial armor/trinkets/weapon, without food buffs, I have 19,315 HP

Standing in wvw with a ascended celestial weapon and full set of ascended celestial armor WITHOUT backpiece or rings or accessories or amulet and in staring at 16,018 HP. No food buffs either.

… Yeah…

Get better gear and build for mass combat…

And for the record, I have one of each profession now, minus engineer. Thanks.

I hold to my statement. What you said was clearly wrong, because if you play the class at least somewhat regularely you know that a full zerk ele has 11k+ hp.

Please don’t start making excuses now. You weren’t talking about cele, you were talking about people being in WVw without any vitality/toughness. If you’d known the base hp of an ele you wouldn’t have said that. Just check what you’re saying next time, that’s all I want.

Btw I have every class as well. But having it (even with full exotic/ascended equipment and a propper build) does not mean that you know the class.

Most Common Mistakes Made by SoloQers

  • Back off when you are low on health, go back to the point and hug your bunker when you are about to die.

THIS so much!

I usually play bunker and even my guildies seem to forget at times that yes, I’m there and will try to rez them as fast I can once they’re downed.

Bunkers can take enough damage that they will manage to get you back up – they however will not be able to do so if you move away from them in mist form or by blink.

The moment the bunker starts to rez you they become vulnerable to damage as they neither can evade attacks nor use (most of) their skills. Worst case if your bunker starts to pick you up and you move away mid-rez is that you both die. Never do that.

If they can’t rez you for whatever reason (extremly low on hp, severely outnumbered) they just won’t. [Or they don’t rez you because they are egoistical/bad players. Happens in SoloQ.]

I just had a friend quit the guild and gw2 because the PvP arena he contributed a lot to also is for HoT players only (among a lot of other guold stuff). He even bought the original game, but can’t afford HoT now. He paid once for the game, but now can’t use guild functions that were available to him before Hot.

Please reconsider this at least for the people that bought the initial game.

One of our team members got disconnected and we played a good part of the game 4 vs 5. Our friend came back before the game was over and we managed to win DESPITE playing at a disadvantage for maybe half of the game.

Now all of us lost 2 pips and he has 8 minutes of dishonor.

Players Abusing MMR

in PvP

Posted by: Ashamir.9574

Ashamir.9574

Regular sports do it all the time. University American Football teams make their own schedules, and you’ll notice the top teams always stack their schedules with some easy games against low-tier teams at the beginning of the season. They get free wins to make sure they start the season near the top of the standings, and the other teams don’t mind getting dumped on, because they get a lot of revenue from facing off against a famous team.

If that’s how it works in the USA then fine, but in Europe we play something that is called “fair play”, even when matchmaking. Football matches for example are being drawn by lot.

Getting stomped by rank III’s as a team of rank I & II because they lost games on purpose is not how I think PvP matchmaking should work. It is unnecessary, unfair and frustrating, especially for people who don’t often play PvP. If someone wants that Diamont/Legendary rank that bad than fine, but ithey gotta work for it.

The whole MMR is a failure in my opinion. Just pair people with others that match their rank and (guild) teams with (guild)teams. I’d rather wait 2 min longer than lose a game to a group that has people 2 ranks above mine in it.

BWE 3 Reaper Specialization Feedback Thread

in Necromancer

Posted by: Ashamir.9574

Ashamir.9574

Of all of the specializations the Reaper is still the one I enjoy playing the most.

All in all it is well done. The theme is there, the skills are there. The play style works, and contrary to other people I can’t report any decline of my damage output. Full zerker still does around 11k with ca. 10 might stacks and around 17k with 25 might stacks on the ususal mobs in pve (15k on most mobs in HoT maps).

The thing that should really be improved is the auto attack on the greatsword. Even for the slow-hitting Reaper it’s too slow. Maybe scrap the second attack in the auto attack chain, maybe make the chill more noticeable or last longer … just something for it to feel more smooth. At the moment it isn’t worth using, sadly.

Personally I don’t mind the shouts. The only one I’m actively using is “You are all weaklings!”. The others are ok, I guess. One of the shouts gave stability in the first beta weekend (don’t remember which), and that was really nice to have on a Necromancer, as the class is still badly lacking stability. Why not make one normal shout give stability again? Especially “Suffer” isn’t that appealing to me at the moment.

BWE 3 Guardian Feedback (Core/DH)

in Guardian

Posted by: Ashamir.9574

Ashamir.9574

I’d like to give you some updated feedback, but as the Dragonhunter in itself doesn’t seem to have been updated much it’s mostly the same as before.

The longbow is good.

The traps are horrible.

Why was the trait for bleed on traps nerfed to 1 sec daze? This specialization is mostly for HoT, and in the new maps it won’t work on 1/2 of the mobs because they have a break bar. The daze is useless, bring the bleed back, at lesst that did damage.
I just don’t get how you want to sell us on the traps that almost everyones thinks a waste of their time when you don’t even try to make them stand out. Traited, they have 20, 24 and 36 seconds cooldown, compared to shouts that have 24, 28 and 32 seconds cd but can a) be used to remove conditions and b) give you boons that are a good adition to the guardian gameplay – unless you are a zerker of course, then you won’t use either.

You don’t want them placeable for only god knows what reason. The majority of the people will not use them because of that. Fine. Just if you want at least someone to use them, please make them viable in pve. You don’t need shouts in the ususal dungeons, but you don’t need traps either. Why not make them special in their own way?

The traitline is bad.

Tier 1: If people won’t use the traps they will not take the trait. That leaves cripple + vuln and knockback, and 3 sec immobilize on Wings of Resolve. A guardian has no need to apply vulnerability. Everonye does that: a standart warrior stacks more than any guardian ever can. At this point in the traitline a guardian with a longbow doesn’t even have a knockback – so why the trait? That leaves the immobilize, and that is honestly not even a “nice to have” skill.

Tier 2: To have aegis and drop the Fragments of Faith trap when stunned etc. would be nice, but is has the cooldown of the trap. Again, if you don’t take the trap traitline (Piercing Light) from Tier 1 this has 45 sec cd, and this is just too long to be viable. Zealot’s Aggressions is good, Bulwark is ok but Shield of Courage as 65 sec cooldown, which is kitten long, so it doesn’t give you that much in terms of gameplay.

Tier 3: Hunter’s Fortification is a tank trait. I’d say I’d see myself using this in Wvw, but tbh in a zerk fight you always have conditions on you, so no dmg reduction for me there. The same goes for the HoT maps. Big Game Hunter is a nice skill for 1 vs 1 or to use on champs etc. Once you have a group of mobs or a zerg to hit it becomes… well, unimportant.

Heavy Light is just a train wreck. As a guardian, if you have a longbow, your second weapon set will of course be a melee weapon. So if something comes close to me, of course I’m switching to my greatsword/sword/maze/whatever to whack it over the head – we aren’t longbow rangers, we don’t get max damage for max range (even with the 10% dmg plus of Pure of Sight). Why would I kock back an enemy at 360 range? What do I get from that? Also I get stability for doing the knockback. So I knocked it back for it to not hit me, but I get stability … for what exactly?

Make the knockback 500 or so instead of 240, and get the stability back into the Tier 1 trait (the original Hunter’s Determination) that gave you stability on True Shot. That trait was nice to have, specially for WvW.

The best traits about the Dragonhunter to me were the bleed on the traps (if you use them, with that they at leats do good damage) and the stability on LB2. Now those two traits are gone, but the new/edited traits are as lackluster as before.

I honestly don’t understand what’s up with the Dragonhunter. It could be fixed so easily, but it just got worse.

I noticed that this build is from 2014. Due to game updates and changes, it may no longer be relevant to today’s Mesmer. Can you — the experts in this profession — let me know if this should remain stickied? Or should we await an update from Osicat and resticky, or turn into a whole new thread?

Thanks for your input on this.

I too agree, that this should be unsticked. Osicat hasn’t been uploading anything on his youtube channel for a year now as well, so I think it’s save to assume that he won’t update the guide.

BWE 2 Dragonhunter feedback thread:

in Guardian

Posted by: Ashamir.9574

Ashamir.9574

I’ll just copy my feetback of the BW1 in here, since a) it was deleted from the old thread for no apparent reason and b) nothing of the things players complained about was fixed. Everything I noted that should/could be changed about the Dragonhunter is still there in EXACTLY THE SAME way.
As a someone who played the class to give feedback I’m deeply disappointed.

Playing Dragonhunter was interesting, especially since I didn’t expect much from it in the first place.

I liked the bow. The skills are well done, they give you something to work with. You have cripple, burning, blindness, stability if traited… honestly, I don’t know why people would complain about the longbow on the guard. The dps could be a little bit higher but it’s a bow and the guardian is no ranger, so I won’t say that that needs to be fixed or anything.

The traps are… well, ok at best. Dragon’s Maw looks extremly good, though I personally don’t know where it can be used in general PvE sine you have “Feel My Wrath!” and Signet of Courage as alternatives. One is dps and one is party support so I don’t see myself using the elite trap anytime soon.

Procession of Blades did really good damage when traited with the trait hat gives bleed on traps and the cooldown is nice as well.
Fragment’s of Faith deals damage and throws away aegis, which again I won’t use in PvE. Test of Faith was nice with the running mobs in the new maps though I don’t know how usefull it is with the old AI. Light’s Judgement seems like a pure PvP skill to me, though maye it could be used in WvW.

All in all my problem with the traps is still that they are placed beneath you. I was running around for 30 minutes today to try and pull mobs into my traps, but as soon as there are other people you fight a loosing battle. In genereal PvE they are unusable, and even beyond that you have the problem that the first thing that walks into the traps triggers them. Also every trap has a radius of 180-240 which means that I’d have to spend 1 sec standing in the middle of the mobs to cast it.That’s bullkitten. Make them groundtargetable with a 600 radius and everything is fine.

As said before F1, F2 and F3 should be instant cast. Spear of Courage should do more damage, because as it is it’s ludicrously weak even with the trait – which brings me to the traits and the only thing that I really despise about the Dragonhunter.

The traps: fine, you don’t have to use them, no harm done. The traits however feel very lackluster. As I said before Piercing Light does makes for some good condi damage with the traps (which only works if you actually play those) and the stability on LB2 from Hunter’s Determination is intriguing especially for WvW. The Grandmaster traits however are… weak? Useless? A little protection from virtues and some vulnerability on the weak Virtue of Courage aren’t Grandmaster-worthy. The knockback on the bow is lame as well, and obviously can’t be used if someone doesn’t want to play LB.

All in all for me the only reason to play Dragonhunter would be the longbow, but then I would have to give up a useful traitline for Dragonhunter line that gives me nothing if I don’t play traps and even then is only medicore.

I’m disappointed with the Dragonhunter so far. The idea was good, the execution not so much.

Free to Play Accounts should only be allowed to play Edge of the Mists. They can get a general feeling for WvW there and that should be enough. Reasons seen above.

I have experienced how backstabbing some servers get in WvW. There is a reason most WvW teamspeaks require you to confirm your identity on a WvW map of the server to grant you access. There WILL be people who’ll abuse this feature badly now that they get the chance.

No need to make it any easier for them than it was before.

[Feedback] on Revenant Beta

in Revenant

Posted by: Ashamir.9574

Ashamir.9574

I played Revenant with Hammer & Sword/Axe in this beta. The mace just isn’t my thing and while the off-hand sword has good defensive capabilities it’s not that great for dps imo. Over-all I think evaluating Revenant is really hard because this class was really made to be everything. A rev can be a healer, a condi, a dps, a tank…

With S/A, Knight’s Armor and Trinkets and Scholar Runes the damage and survivability were both ok, though I still think that the damage of a dps Rev should be higher. You can’t play the class as a complete zerker because then you die instantly but the damage is still only good and not great. I personally have the feeling that my full zerker Ele and Warrior do a lot more damage than a full zerker Revenant. The Reaper was better as well.

The same goes for full tank. The Rev has a higher base HP than the Guardian, but a Guard with pvt armor feels a lot more tanky than a Revenant with the same armor and runes. I can’t say why, but to me there is just something off about the Revenant…

Maybe it’s the fact that you have one set of armor and one build but two legends that don’t necessarily work well with each other. Ventari and the dwarfen one fit together maybe, but even Shiro and the condi legend don’t mix that well in my opinion.

General Reaper Feedback

in Necromancer

Posted by: Ashamir.9574

Ashamir.9574

I have to say that I liked playing reaper a lot. The graphics of the class are very well done and it has a nice over-all feel to it.

The GS in itself is nice to play with, but as mentioned before the auto attack doesn’t hit hard enough for how slow it is. In the beta maps I often have the problem that mobs die and I didn’t even get one good hit in because it’s so slow. At least compensate with more damage since it was already said the GS is supposed to be a slow weapon.
Also Grasping Darkness (GS5) should focus on target when used and not simply follow the line of where the character is looking at that moment. It misses too often that way because you can’t always make sure that the mob (or the majority of the mobs) is standing exactly where you face when using it.

Death’s Charge (RS2) should be targetable as well, maybe in the way of either Warrior GS3 or Warrior GS5 where the character stops when the target is hit. At the moment the skill lacks control badly. It happens too often that you overcharge or miss your target alltogether.

And is the RS supposed to lose life force as fast as it does? To me it feels like I don’t have much time in shroud, especially compared to the normal DS of the necro. Can’t say if it’s intended or a bug, just wanted to mention it.

Other than those minor things I had a lot of fun playing reaper. The fast access to the RS and two weapon sets make the gameplay very intersting to me. You basically can change to another set of skills whenever you want, and as an Ele main player that really sells it for me

Yes, I recognize that Anet is a US-based company, but that doesn’t keep me from feeling like I’m beeing treated as a second class player right now.

For most Europeans 2 out of these 3 times lots are simply not playable. Why the 2 hour spaces in-between the beta? Seriously, playable time left for EU is 20:30 – 22:30, because if you have work, university, school or whatever on Wednesday 00:30 – 02:30 is out of the question. If they would at least make it from 20:30-6:30 we could get some decent hours in.

As ist stands I feel cheated, because EUs farmed as hard for their keys as NAs, but get only 1/2 of the experience – Arenanet obviously wants my money, but they don’t care for me as a player.

It wouldn’t have killed anyone to make this a 24 hour beta to give all of us the same chance at enjoying the new content…

a theory:
did anyone else notice the theme with Yggdrasil and the six/seven worlds? Therefore the six orbs circling the middle one would stand for the six dragons and also the six worlds (Asgard, Midgard, Jotunheim, Vanaheim, Alfheim and Hel). I find the middle orb particular interesting, because it should be Svartalfheim(?). So it could accutually stand for both the destructive power of dragons (if you count the seventh world as the world of “black elves” i.e. evil/destruction) and the world of gw since the black elves are considered synonymous with dwarves (and well, the dwarves are the oldest race in the gw universe I belive).

(what if) Anet said: What would you change?

in Elementalist

Posted by: Ashamir.9574

Ashamir.9574

Since no one is speaking up for the S/D minority of all Ele I’ll add my two cents.
While no not directly related to the damage output, one of my main problems still centers around it. Because while we can’t do as many dmg as warriors (well, no-one can), Ele still can do good burst damage. What annoys me is how said damage is to come by.

If I want to hit something HARD, as s/d I need:

full zerker + might + fury + Lightning Hammer

It’s sacking, stacking, stacking, then switch to LH for max dmg… then I either kill very fast or I die very fast because of my 11k~12k health. Healing halfway through is out of the question of course because I’d need to drop the hammer for any good heal and the damage is gone until my cooldowns are down to the point where I can start stacking up to 25 might + fury again.

Yes, it’s the point of “glasscannon” builds to hit hard and die fast, but as an Ele you have a good chance of dying fast before you ever get the chance of hitting hard. That’s something I want to be taken care of. My problem here is NOT that I’m squishy, it’s that while being squishy I don’t have the damage ouput to compensate for it. So:

1) Better survivability. How this is achieved is something I’m opening for suggestions about. As said before, simply giving Elementalists a bit more HP is not going to solve the problem. We need better utilities and better minor traits + please…

2) Do something about the cooldowns on Ele. I don’t want to have to trade in Arcana just to reduce my elemental cds to 10 sec and I don’t want to have to rely on utility spells with 60 sec+ cds to not die the instant something decides to burst me.

3) Weapons on Ele are a big problem too imho. There are a lot of issues with the conjured weapons that were mentioned by others already. On top of that right now we have the problem that what at least 80% of all ele play is D/D because the alternatives just aren’t worth using most of the time.

I love this class so much, please do something to make playing it as fun again as it was when I started with gw2.
