I had way too much Karma, that I was running out of things to use it on. Over 7 million from the start of the game until now. And that’s only a fraction of the Karma gains of some players.

I’m glad they reduced the output. With Karma being so easy to get, it made it less desirable to get. Plus, now that there’s no Karma gain from failed events, that gives more incentive to people to actually succeed for the awards.

I say “Good Job” Anet. A well welcomed change.

I said in my original post that I understand that Karma is was trivial and easy to get with no real investment targets apart from Obsidian shards. However this is Arenanet killing a fly with an AA turret. There would be a lot of simpler and less drastic solutions available for different problems that karma might have

1) People are using Karma to gain gold, which is against the principle of Karma
Solution: Make Orrian jewelry boxes more expensive, or reduce the amount of karma that can be gained from the boxes. The karma armors are already unsellable, unforgeable and unsalvageable precisely to prevent karma-to-gold schenanigans. I had a situation many times that I bought one box with the remaining karma I had and could buy 3 more boxes by just drinking the karma consumables I got from the first box. Or, redesign the whole content of the boxes. More expensive boxes with a chance for an account bound unique skin? Making unidentifiable objects less valuable for vendors?

2) People don’t feel karma is valuable
Well it sure feels kitten valuable now. It was a good thing imo to add obsidian shards to the crafting to give people incentive to use karma outside of legendary crafting process but not a good idea when you essentially cut people completely off of karma. If we get ~350 karma for completing an event in Orr it will require 6 completed events to just buy 1 obsidian shard, and this would take approximately 30 minutes to do. A legendary needs ~500 shards, so dear Arenanet, if you say your game is grind-free, how on earth can you expect legendary crafters to grind for 250 hours to just get a tiny shard of a the weapon?

3) Karma is gained too much compared to the available item selection/pricing
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out the solution to this.
- Karma armor price increase
- more items bought with Karma! more armor, skins, unique consumables, you name it
- slight karma income reduction
You could easily add more karma sinks to the game or regulate the karma tap just a tiny bit instead of deconstructing the whole house with the tap; just making karma consumables unaffected by modifiers and keeping the daily/montly/dungeon rewards intact would have been a good solution, because until the patch people just stacked multiple boosts to gain essentially double the karma from consumables. Also there was a negative effect, people (including me) felt bad when consuming karma items without maxed boosts.

Dear Anet,

I understand that the general consensus among players and developers was that Karma was too trivial, next-to-useless excluding Obsidian Shards and way too easy to get and turn into gold. This certainly warranted some changes, but why did you took away a lion’s share of the pot? There certainly was a middle ground between present and previous states:

- Daily now gives 600 karma instead of the 5 000 from a jug
- Monthly now gives 6 000 karma instead of 50 000 from the 10 jugs
- Dungeon and champion karma rewards gutted
- failed event karma gain removed.
The karma income numbers above from previous patch were the bare minimum: with karma modifiers that daily 5000 could almost double.

The increase in karma item’s content is highly insignificant as there are almost no sources left that even give karma consumables. The aspect of this whole matter that baffles me the most is that you combine this huge change with an increased need for karma in form of the obsidian shards being used for high level crafting. May I ask, what is your goal here?

Also another important point is that the legendary crafting is bottlenecked by karma income. One million karma is an enormous amount to spend and if a player earns 3k-5k karma per day without running braindead karma trains it will be a major point of frustration for all the active legendary crafters.

I beg you for a minute of your time to clarify the reasonings behind karma changes to the community.

Constantly losing connection to server

I’ve also had lag spikes and random DC’s since the Zephyr Sanctum update, and I think the problem got worse with Queen Jennah’s Jubilee update. Basically once an hour either
1) for 5-15 seconds my character becomes almost unresponsive, I can move around but cant jump or dodge or use skills. in addition no object can be interacted with and the environment becomes almost static
2) all of the above happens but instead of regaining control after x seconds of lagging I just disconnect

I’d like to add that GW2 is the only application that is experiencing connectivity issues, and that the problem described above is especially frustrating right now when the invasions are running: 1 DC means the invasion won’t count towards any achievements.

Not getting credit for invasion events

I also haven’t gotten credit for completing Fireheart rise; I’ve gained the event rewards 2 times from there but neither of those counted towards any achievements (both of those attempts were in overflow and failed). However, I’ve gained rewards from failed overflow events on other maps and they counted towards th achievements that require completions on different maps. Is there something going on?

Title. cursed shore is virtually unplayable because of insane lag everywhere, not just at the farm site. This makes completing temple events very difficult because skills are unresponsive, also simple skill point challenges are insanely difficult to do because of the same reason.
The map is flooded, map chat is full of insults targeted to players who actually want to finish the ember farming event and no the meta event series that includes the embers is never finished. Basically this means that players can’t play the game itself because of the farmers.
I’ve tried to end the farming event in CS a few times but every time i get intensely flamed, my username shouted all over the place and reported at least a billion times (i know they do kitten as they are baseless).
Please fix this!

nvd3dum.dll causes crashing ALL THE TIME

Title.

I’ve done many many preventive steps but this error still keeps occurring and really kitten es me off when it happens in the middle of a dungeon or a boss fight.
What happens is that I either get a bugsplat popup-window that lets me choose to send or not send error log to Anet… or then the screen just freezes and i have to ctrl-alt-del and force shutdown of the client. This happens daily, 1-20 times within a game session that can range from 1h to 8h.

Anet if you would be kind could you please have a look at the countless error reports i have sent you via the button on the error window whenever the program has let me to do it?
I’ve tried clean installation of my gpu card, tried repairing game client, I have scaled graphics down a lot from the ‘auto-detect’ settings, I have bought a new cpu cooler and new motherboard but the problem keeps persisting. I also update my gpu card regularly and check all the windows updates every day (windows 8 64-bit). I also disabled all 3d-setting on my nvidia panel to no end.

My system specs are:
Windows 8 64-bit
AMD FX-8150 3,6ghz
GeForce GTX 670

Why wouldn’t it be a bug if an item that looks like it can and should be interacted with cannot be interacted with? It is definitely a bug if there are seven containers left and none of them can be interacted with resulting in a failed event even when there is 9 min 30 sec left on the clock.

Hello,

this event is bugged every time, but today it got a step worse. Most of the time some of the waste containers cannot be interacted with, even though they have the gear icons above them. As I’m writing this the golem pre-event on Desolation is about to fail because we are 1 container short, but none of the remaining 7 containers can be interacted with. This bug seems to be a long-standing one, any plans to fix it?

I really appreciate your help, abomally!

So I removed all traces of Nvidia files from my comp and reinstalled everything except 3d vision, let’s see if that helps! I’m also redownloading GW2 just in case as the DLL error troubleshooting site adviced to reinstall the problematic programs.
I also ran a driver scan on my computer that revealed several drivers (including chipset) to be out of date. Took me a bit of time but I should have the latest drivers installed now. Still 3h to go until GW2 has reinstalled itself :/

@ abomally,

thank you for your insight, I’ll try to follow the steps that are in the link. Feels pretty annoying to reinstall GW only to have the complete redownload last ~6 hours with no guaranteed results :S

anyway, here is another error report. In addition to this crash my game froze at least 6 times within 1h, but the client didn’t give me a possibility to file an error report or to have a look at the crash log.
Weird thing is that my old otherwise crappy computer had none of these issues im reporting here.

Edit: abomally, how did you read the file that NTDLL is the cause for the crashes?

I have memok and could try it sure, but I’m having hard time thinking it could be the problem as GW2 is the only game crashing. I should run a memtest program also, gonna do that in a minute.

Also, every time the game has crashed and I have had the chance to post an error log I have done it and included my email in all of those. Anet, please check those too

Dear sirs,

I could really appreciate if you could help me track down the root problem with my constant crashing.
Basically the problem is that GW2 freezes or crashes pretty regularly, anything between every 15 mins and every 3 hours, anyway several times per gaming session. There are no particular scenarios or fights or anything like that when crashes occur but the end result is the same that I have to force shutdown on the program and restart it, ruining dungeons, jps and other quests for me an my party.
I have a pretty high-end computer that is only ~2 months old. The specs are:

ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 MoBo
AMD FX-8150 processor
PNY nvidia Geforce 670 GTX
4x 4gb Kingston HyperX ddr3 1.6ghz
Windows 8 Home premium 64-bit

I got sufficient cooling for the computer and during demanding and long sessions the temperatures never rise above dangerous limits provided by the manufacturer.
I have even scaled my graphics down from the auto-detect settings but to no benefit.

Please help me!

Within the last 30 minutes I have had 6 crashes all stating the error “c0000005”, memory at address 000000000 (all zeros, cant remember exact number) could not be read/rewritten or something like that

I didn’t play for a few days but prior to patching I had no problems whatsoever.

At least on my server Desolation the TP is working extremely slowly, inventory takes forever to load and buying/selling takes 10-30 seconds to process. Even then I get an error message related to buying/selling even though the action was registered.

(b) Vabbi and FOW are the worst of the worst of the worst – it doesn’t matter who goes in there with them they’ll lose hard. A small slice of dutch cheese would steamroll them.

and this is why the servers need to be merged asap so that people on the mentioned weak servers could have fun in wvw.

Dear Anet,

please consider merging Vabbi+Fow or hardcapping the number of players allowed to enter WvW at the same time to fix this because Arborstone absolutely steamrolls and dominates this matchup with 10x the manpower of Fow+Vabbi. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves
*AS has superior amount of zerg
*AS controls 80-95% of territory all the time
*AS has 7x the points of Vabbi+Fow COMBINED
*Towers and Keeps are impossible to take because AS can have them reinforced due to overwhelming numbers of players
*bonuses above keep snowballing ingame and increasingly fast demoralizes vabbi+fow players, resulting in ppl quitting and this matchup becoming even more lopsided
*vabbi+fow players can’t get ‘Been There, Done That’ because there is no chance in Hell the Eternal Battlegrounds can be contested

I demand Anet attention. Last rotation Blacktide dominated us but this is even more ridiculous.

Hello,

after FoW and Vabbi got stomped by Blacktide we were eagerly looking forward to the server reset but things have gotten even worse. 2.5h after reset Arborstone has gained control of the whole map apart from 2 supply camps as im writing this. They got 5x the manpower of Vabbi+Fow combined and I can’t really see how on earth should WvW be fun for any three parties of this fight. I personally don’t enjoy stomping and even less I enjoy getting stomped; because of the sheer manpower Arborstone has we can’t do anything, we have no room for strategy because no matter what we do Arborstone can just steamroll through chokepoints.
Either merge servers or hardcap the amount of players but this just can’t keep going. No one on Vabbi+Fow is having fun atm and the situation will just feed itself as more ppl on the losing side quit out of frustration.

Hello,

are there any plans to balance this server matchup? I come from FoW and I must say that I don’t enjoy WvW one bit because of the sheer player number imbalances this matchup holds. Ingame BT holds ~80% of the territory all the time, has more than 3x the points combined of Vabbi and Fow and in the leaderboards BT holds more points than FoW and Vabbi combined.
It makes no sense for me or any player in the Vabbi or Fow servers to play wvw because basically no matter what BT can just steamroll through the most organized defenses and strategies, heck they don’t even use siege when taking keeps.

I’d suggest merging Vabbi+Fow in wvw to have some sort of balance.
Does ArenaNet recognize this problem I described above?

game crashing every 30 minutes

Hello,

for some unknown reason my game has crashed 6 times already today within my 2h30min gaming session. During the last 3 weeks I have had maybe 3 crashes before today. Unfortunately I could copy/paste only one of the crash logs because I was in the middle of a dungeon and needed to get back asap. Note that I didn’t update or change anything about any program, drivers or other computer settings before this crashing started occurring.

Hello everyone,

I just started GW2 for the first time ever as an Asuran necromancer a few days ago and I’ve already run into some kind of trouble, is the game bugged or have I just not realized something essential?

1) Defending Yerkk in the Serpentwind
problem: I’ve found Yerkk and his crew and I got the dynamic event marked on my log and minimap but nothing happens. The group won’t move and I can’t attract skritts to the location where Yerkk is. What do?

2) Destroy Hylek village
I’m stuck at 5/6 houses destroyed, the problem is that all of the houses ARE destroyed and therefore I can’t proceed with the task. What do?

could someone please help
