0/30/0/10/30 is a Scepter/Dagger burst build that excels at dropping single targets quickly and stacking 25 might for the entire party. Revolves around Fresh Air to get Lightning Bolt every 2 second without staying in one attunement.
Thanks for that. Yep, I read about this so I came back to give it a shot, but just wondering if im going the best path possible
I quit just as the rtl nerf hit, and decided to give gw2 another go and logged with the hope of the new ‘fresh air’ builds. Retraited to the path of 0/30/10/0/30 – as daphoenix recommended.
Went full zerker and to my surprise i had a pathetic 12.3k hp even with 6 ascended pieces… (Hope this is normal)
This is not a QQ thread, and could someone please be kind enough to briefly sum up the options of the ele now. For example a simple; “Staff or scepter with 0/30/0/10/30 is the way to go now”. Would help me immensely. Just need a place to kick off.
Play for 12 hrs a day, and play for 1hr a day. The difference will be extremely minimal
Eles were trash in pve and somewhat on-par in pvp, now they’re bad in both. There are ways to beat all these classes, and as many stated it actually takes alot of skill and precision to pull something off with these “OP” builds. But finally, those whiners where their biggest issue was l2p got what they wanted. They’re still probably going to be wrecked by a few eles and will come back here crying, you watch.
There are tonnes of trash mobs in WvW. Minotaurs, wolves, moas, rabbits, skale, fireflies, sentries, drakes, yaks… the list goes on. If you can’t hit these guys with Ride the Lightning then you don’t deserve to get away. There are thief builds that rely entirely on engaging in areas where there are a lot of NPC mobs so they get free Cloak and Dagger hits, I don’t see how this is such a huge drama.
Umm what, "If you can’t hit these guys with Ride the Lightning then you don’t deserve to get away. "
I’m sorry but what are you trying to get at? What do you mean we don’t deserve to get away if we don’t aggro a trash mob? And im guessing your a thief? gtfo.
Go ahead and waste time pinging your zerk from bags, you’ll be detected for having lacking dps (@4acolytes or 4 braziers) and will get kicked eventually (deservedly so too). Don’t join if you don’t conform. Go make your own MF party lol, enjoy waiting staring at your gw2lfg post.
The more dps the party outputs, the faster bosses melt, the less chance players have to go down and drag the run. What’s so hard for you to understand that? If you don’t want to join a 5min p1 run party or w/e, then don’t complain and join a normal p1 party.
All I’m seeing is OP asking for kitten and paying with fake bills and complaining he needs real bills to get his fun…
So you are on of the zerker warriors only P1 runs? Thats cute… Start open your eyes. Zerker warrior isnt the only good DPS in the game. Have you ever seen a necro being played the right way? I have actually tested it out with a guildie. Full zerker necro VS full zerker warrior against the gate controller. The necro got it down at around 2,5 sec, but the warrior used around 3,5. Wells + bone minions + dagger mainhand is INSANE dps
Can you read ? Or do you hear voices when you read? Where on earth did I type anything about zer war in my post? But here I’ll enlighten you..
My signature says I’m a S/D thief. I got a zerk war but I don’t even use it for p1 farm.
My thief handles it better:
I can warp in and out of accolyte area and take 3 of em down without risk thanks to steal/sword #2 mobility (I even synchronize my #1 accolyte’s respawn with my cloak and dagger animation).I deal with gate controller faster without having to have to retrait for effigy, so warriors save their stuff for initial effigy burst.
Sword thief offers 4 methods to deal with effigy’s attacks, can dodge, can use Withdraw to roll out of circle and instantly be back in melee with Steal/Infiltrator strike, can evade the hits with Flanking strike, or I can just drop a shadow return on him so I don’t get affected by knockdown. My sword AA chain deals above 10k.
TL;DR : if you don’t contribute to your party’s fast p1 run times, then you’ll get the boot. Bet it any profession/any spec/any gear.
You can’t complain that the bulk of p1 farmers are zerk wars though. They bring instant 25might + 25vulnerability + 190 power + 15% crit dmg + 190 prec + other stuff to whole party right at the beginning.
LOL, well he never said u were a zerk warr.
“Can you read ? Or do you hear voices when you read? Where on earth did he type anything about zer war in my post? But here I’ll enlighten you..”
A while since i bought my gw2… but i dont recommend any that costs more than the cheapest. I bought the deluxe edition, biggest bs. You get a worthless skill and a pet.
Please reconsider the nerfs you plan to implement for Elementalists, particularly the ones that affect the D/D build. This may sound like a selfish request but please hear me out.
I don’t even have an Ele leveled all the way up yet. However, ever since about 3 weeks ago I have been leveling her and have been slaving to get her ascended gear, armor, and runes. Why? Because I was burned out from other classes I was playing because I was told that my preferred playstyle was too “OP” and needed to be nerfed.
I have been trying to find reasons to keep playing. Usually that means leveling different classes. When that class got nerfed, I tried to adjust, but it just wasn’t fun anymore. I was almost ready to quit a few weeks ago. But then I saw the D/D Ele build and videos by Daphoenix and thought “whoa, I wanna be able to do that.” So i set out to get my Ele ready.
Now, I just kind of feel lost. That build and playstyle that I saw was the absolute REASON I wanted to level my Ele. Now all the hard work I have put in to get her gear feels like it’s all for nothing.
I’m just tired of being “fun starved” in this game. It just seems every time I’m having fun with a class, you guys take it away.
As I said, I know it’s selfish; But could you please, PLEASE, just give us this one?
Alright. Flame on.
I agree. I’ve already uninstalled the game after watching that lengthy ‘State of the game’ video, knew this day would eventually come tbh. The anet representatives described these nerfs as ‘evening it out’ and just ‘going slow and balancing the elementalist little by little.’ Is anet honestly serious.
We all know eles traited with the 0/10/0/30/30 can burst heal extremely well and remove conditions effectively, but this is our only defence. And dont blame the OP for using this so called ‘OP’ spec. It simply has a good synergy with all its traits, but in order to use it effectively the skill is definitely needed.
As a light armour with pathetic hp to have satisfactory damage, restricting the condition removing to 1 per removal, is a big big hit. Now any necro can come along, stack a few bleeds and bam down we go.
And the mobility issue. Yes RTL is extremely useful in many situations. 20 seconds was pretty lengthy enough, rarely found it up when i desperately needed it, but 40 secs? almost the same cd has cleansing wave? gtfo.
Honestly never thought that the devs would make these changes by looking at videos such as daphoenix. The devs should go make a dd ele run into a group of 2~4 and see what happens, let alone a zerg. Sure, you might run away pretty well but killing them all? nop, most of us cant do that sorry. It seems like this is an answer to make staffs more popular… break other builds.
So I was sitting in fotm 48 for 3hrs+ we were doing quite fine, last boss at 3rd fractal, and this BR or Spanish group (no offence) started chatting on, and before I knew it I was sitting in LA kicked. It was the asura guy and we kept wiping cos the guardian was not able to kite it.
Ive been away for a few days, and wanted to challenge myself with a fotm run… and i run into these idiots. Not even angry, just shocked at how these people can be so rude. Is there a way to report? I know 1 of the guys in the team. Again, not that of a big deal and I should just move on. But really if its possible I would love to get these guys back.
Anyone had any similar experiences? I would like to know how messed up some people can get.

GW2 pve is all about getting in there and getting everything down asap. That extra vit to survive a hit from a boss can be easily compensated with food and the rest u dodge. And that is why people keep stressing the shallowness of gw2.
the double arah daggs with a mix of AC’s daggs when it actually glows.
In fractals and dungeons always use the greatsword, it will be useful in most situations. The elemental dies in like 2 hits either from agony in fractals or just the bosses from dungeons (and the open world). Greatsword on the other hand, if used right can hit up to 15k+ just by pressing 1 (yes the last hit during the autoattack hit up to 9k for me)
Once a player has exotic gear, map completion and a legendary what is there to do? Honestly, we can’t figure it out.
Let me ask you an honest question. By the same token, when you get max gear in WoW what is there to do? Honestly, I can’t figure it out. WoW has no gear progression either.

This type of gear progression is a bit extreme… How about a certain weapon that only drops from a certain boss, lets say Jade Maw, and has a slight stat boost?

Quick background:
- Run a fairly large guild that moved from WoW (5 years) to SWTOR (ran out of things to do) and came here to GW2. About 250 strong and everyone loved Gw2 in the beginning. We all participated in the beta and upon release dedicated ourselves to the game in earnest.
- As the bulk of our members reached 80, got map completion and filled themselves out with the best Exotic gear there was to have we focused on WvW and running dungeons to get the gear (look) we wanted.
- All of this probably feels very familiar to many of you. Except soon after the bulk of our members started to get bored – primarily because there wasn’t anything left for them to “continue progressing” their character. Sure some leveled alts but most of us are hardcore players and like to dedicate to one charatcer. Others continued to focus on WvW but even that didn’t provide any rewards that made their characters better. A fewer number completed their legendaries and today there’s only a handful left playing GW2. Sure theres the notion of playig the game because its fun. And GW2 is that, it is fun. But many of us need to feel like we are accomplishing something. Call it vanity too, but we also want to feel and look special…and Gw’s lack of gear progression makes us sad.
- We’re still together as a guild but scattered across Marvel Heroes beta, Neverwinter beta , Secret World, Planetside and other games that we have fun with, but like a tribe we are scattered and want to find a home..As the leader I feel like GW2 is the best MMO I’ve played for many reasons and should be that home. I love the game and it has so much potential. But alas, it has yet to be that for us.
- But without the trappings of end game my guild and even myself feel like GW2 is a game thats easy to forget, to stop playing. I log into the game and look at my guardian and feel like playing won’t give me anything to show for my time.
- We want raiding or at the least scalable dungeons that reward loot that makes our characters better. We NEED gear progression. Sure the Ascended system is a step in the right direction (Kinda) but its really not what we need; its too limited. We need a true scalable gear progression system that rewards dedication and achievement. The fractals are interesting but we need more.
- Will GW2 ever be a destination we can call home? Like we did in EQ and WoW for so many years. We loved our time there and after numerous years moved on for good reasons. We wanted GW2 to be our new home, but it’s not, and I guess it wont be until Arena decides that it will give hardcore players something to do.
We love the game. I love the game. I just wish it would provide end game.
thanks for listening.

This is exactly how I feel. Alot of the gw2 community is so against this “gear progression” idea that whenever you bring it up they rudely tell you this is not the game for you or GW2 was not made to be this way. Honestly, this is a mmorpg and gear progression is basically the backbone of mmorpgs. I understand the target market for this game is for the casuals, but why is this holding the game from progressing?
Sure, the pretty scenes around the world are enjoyable, the range of gear and looks are very nice… but as the OP stated its truly not enough to keep some players playing and wanting to PROGRESS.
Don’t be mistaken. I too am a student tight on time and only play for a few hours during the week, but once again like the OP, I log on look at my elementalist all ‘maxed out’ and find no real motivation to run that 2hr fotm for a chance at a fractal dagger.
Everyone has their own definition of fun. Some like I, enjoy the gear that reflects time, hardwork and dedication and should be catered for.
Just a quick gear question:
Do you think its wise to purchase the zerker ascended accessories (earrings) and change the rings depending on the stats i want? Im a frequent fractal runner so I have alot of the rings available
Thanks for ur replies
Exactly what i needed~
Hello all, I recently got the game and wanted to ask a very important question to me.
Basically, i came from lotro and have been searching the net reading countless articles, videos, forum posts for 3 days trying to find my most suitable class. (Yep, pretty sad)
Ive wasted alot of time on pretty average mmos, and my severely limited play time has made me turn to a more casual/easygoing game such as gw2, so i really want to get it right the first time.
Im the type of person who likes to have ranged aoe as a definite option in pve and pvp, and solo capabilities with a bit of self heals and survivability. I also like to have a profession in demand for dungeons and pvp.
A few classes immediately popped up and from there i have been trying to find my class through the process of elimination. Guardian… Love the positive feedback, but unfortunately not my play style. Ranger/Necro/Engineers… was really convinced to go with it but the many negative comments made me say NO to it completely. Warr… just too plain, reminded me of lotro. Theif/Mesmer… sounds great but no spectacular aoes, and the sneaky playstyle isnt my type.
So elementalist seems like the most appropriate option (norn for that invisibility) , the only disadvantage is the squishiness but I am really ready to die a little as i heard survivability gets much better. The combos and all for additional damage sounds troublesome but im willing to learn.
I know this sounds like a typical noob question/post, but i have literally done all my research and need one last confirmation. Is the elementalist a truly great profession?
Thanks.
