It fits the ele class a lot more then a sword and ele has a sword like wepon in dagger.

Omg, sword and dagger aren’t the same.
I am disappointed with their decision, but it’s probably too late to change something. A lot of players hate warhorn and you can’t deny that. Skills are maybe nice, but all of them are being cast in the same stupid way. (I hope they change this animations) Warhorn itself looks ugly.

So why people playing mesmers like chronomancer a lot? Its playstyle is a lot different, isnt it?

Lol ? The spec give them a new F5 … how is it a “different playstyle” ? You still sacrifice clones to getan effet, they just sacrifice them to get a different one … without sacrificing current ways to destroy it.

Tempest do not gives you a new playstyle since what it gives to ele is not a VIABLE!

I didnt mean just the mechanic (f5) But I agree that Tempest is in bad position

Mik, as you can see, most of ele community doesn’t like Tempest (and lol it’s not just because of sword) You can’t force them to like it.

To that words, also:
- never to pvp
- could be better
- animations are nice
- worst elite skill

New mechanic: Attunement Combination
I was inspired by another post (sorry, can’t remember where), because I think that idea was perfect.
So, goal of this mechanic is, that you can combine your elements to cast new powerfull skills. This skill occupies your new f5 slot and depends od 2 factors: In which attunement you are, and which attunement you leaved before entering this one. This creates a lot of possibilities how this skill will work (note: If you for example swap from Fire to Air or from Air to Fire, skill will be the same):

Water<->Fire - Create 3 bubbles of boiling water around you. If a bubble is touched by enemy, it bursts, burning nearby foes and creating small water field.
Air<->Fire - Release a smoke, blinding and poisoning foes.
Earth<->Fire - Call down a massive meteor, which burns and launches foes.
Air<->Water - Create an enchanted mist, which grants regeneration to nearby allies and slows nearby foes.
Earth<->Water - Transform ground in the targeted area to mud, knocking down foes.
Earth<->Air - Release dust ahead of you, blinding nearby foes and granting short-term stealth to allies. (2 sec maybe?)

Traits

Hello, (note: Sorry for my english if you find some mistakes)
As many of you, I was disappointed by Tempest. But one can always dream. I created an idea about how I want an elite spec looks like. (Maybe 2nd one it the future?)
I already posted it here
This is actually an updated version here and I want to know what do you think about it:

Name: Sorcerer
Weapon: Main-hand sword
Utilities: Mantras
New mechanic: Attunement combinations
Lore: Sorcerer, elementalist’s elite specialization, is a fast and unpredictable combatant. Sorcerers usually leave back lines to help their fellow allies in the centre of battle itself. While Sorcerers specializes in fast and massive attacks thanks to their new weapon sword, which in Sorcerer’s hand is a source of great mobility and survivability, they still keep ways how to support friends via combining elements to create new spells, either defensive or offensive. And if Sorcerers want to stay away from their enemies, they can benefit from newly discovered ability to absorb elemental energy, which can be released in the key moments.

Sword skills:

  • Fire
-chain AA, slashing with fiery animations, last AA will throw fiery sword at your foe, burning him
-Throw fire projectiles at your foes, dealing huge dmg (animation similar to guard’s Zealot’s Defense, but with fiery projectiles and without that barrier)
-Stick the sword to the ground, creating large lava field which burns foes
  • Water
-chain AA, slashing with ice animations, each hit heals you, last one launches small water wave, which heals nearby allies and inflicts vulnerability to enemies.
-Leap to target area, which grants regeneration and cures 1 condition from nearby allies, deals little damage to enemies
-Stick your sword to the ground, creating ice blade in target location (similar animation to mesmer’s gs skill 3), damaging and chilling enemies
  • Air
-chain AA, slashing with lightning (or windy) animations, last one sends a lightning bolt to your foes (acts like ele’s staff air 1, but weaker, similar to the one Mai Trin is doing)
-Strike your foes with flurry of lightning (or windy) strikes, last strike inflict weakness (Animation similar to war’s Flurry or mesmer’s Blurred frenzy, but with lightning or windy theme)
-Throw lightning sword at your foe, blinding him. If the sword successfully hits, teleport to that foe and gain swiftness
  • Earth
-chain AA, slashing with dusty/rocky themed strikes, 2nd and 3rd strike bleeds your foe, 3rd one also cripples for 1 sec
-Surround your sword with rocks and use it to block next attack. If attack is blocked, you can throw remains of that rocks to your the attacker, blinding him
-Send out a wave of rock spikes, crippling and bleeding foes

Other skills (Mantras):
Similar to mesmer mantras, these mantras (or Absorptions, how they are named here) also need a long activation time, which is needed to absorb the energy of one element. This energy can be later released (2x before needed to be absorbed again) to perform an instant powerfull effect. (= releasing skill, the name is usually: /absorption name = Cleansing, Fire, etc./ Release)

  • Heal skill:
-Cleansing Absorption: Absorb water energy, which can be released in the form of Cleansing Wave (Actually releasing skill casts Cleansing Wave, but with a little stronger heal)
  • Utility skills:
-Absorption of Fire: Absorb fire energy, which can be released in the form of fire field, which highly damages and burns foes within (ground-targeted skill)
-Absorption of Winds: Absorb air energy, which can be released to cast blindness and vulnerability (5 stacks maybe?) to your target and nearby foes around him, also grants swiftness (or super speed maybe?) to you
-Absorption of Earth: Absorb earth energy, which can be released, granting you stability (but doesn’t break stun if you are already disabled) and immobilizing nearby foes
-Absorption of Frost: Absorb ice energy, which can be released in the form of Frost Aura granted to nearby allies
  • Elite skill:
-Storm Absorption: Absorb storm energy, which can be released in the form of large storm which damages and dazes foes and grants resistance to allies in targeted area (ground-targeted skill). Unlike other mantras, this one’s release skill requires 1/4 sec cast time.
I am lazy to write it over and over. So sorry for my English.

-Warhorn looks interesting
-Overloads looks interesting too, but but I still think that it’s not worth of it (that incerased att cd will hurt a lot, evet don’t want to think about interrupt), also the animations (exept the air one) looks really weird
-Shouts in solo fights will be useless, healing one gives almost no heal and has long casting time, utility ones can be pretty fun though but still aren’t that strong as cantrips, but the elite one… just crap
-Traits looks interesting, but they provide nothing to damage incerase, so for builds specing for dmg they will not provide so much, but for some builds specing for heavy group support they might be strong

My ideal scepter rework (I used some of other’s thougths because they have some pretty good points)

Fire:
-Flamestrike – Decrease casting time to 1s, make it available while retreating
-Dragon’s Tooth – Make it ground targeted, decrease landing time to 3/4s, decrease casting time to 1/2 sec
-Phoenix – It’s OK
Water:
-Ice shards – Each hit heals you a bit
-Shatterstone – Make it ice field while creating, incerase vulnerability to 5 stacks, deals damage with each pulse while creating, incerase final damage, incerase cd to 3 sec
-Water trident – incerase radius to 240
Air:
-Arc Lightning – Incerase base damage
-Lightning strike – It’s OK
-Blinding flash – Make it affecting target + 2 nearby foes
Earth:
-Stone Shards – Decrease casting time to 1 sec
-Rock Barrier – Instead of incerasing toughness, reduce all incoming dmg by 10% (this is a good idea)
-Hurl – Each strike now inflict cripple
-Dust Devil – It’s OK

So you can exactly know that now this one is going to use his elite, this one his healing skill and this one some important utility. And what if you are wrong? What if the 1st one decides to use 1 last aa before his elite, 2nd one’s heal skill still have few secs cd and the 3rd one gets interrupted and is going to use another skill (probably aa or some weap. skill) before his utility can be used? Isn’t that a little waste of your elite?

It’s really weird to take one of the squishiest classes and make its elite spec all about close range support, while locking it out of its main source of survivability, fast att swapping. Also that long casting time for overloading, skills like that should always be at least mid range, we will never be able to channel it in melee without tons of stability, which is again forcing us to take cantrips, which are currently a must for any close range (d/d) ele.
Of course it’s a different playstyle, I am just not sure if it’s the right one. Based on the informations we currently have, I see that Tempest biggest potential will be probably spent in stacking corners in dungeons, which is sad.
But we will see everything on Friday, when they show us everything, we will be able to make our opinion.
( I also really hope that we will hear something like: “Because we felt that scepter as the ele’s weapon wasn’t that good, we decided to make some changes to it…”)

This new mechanic sounds like some antimechanic. Ele’s core mechanic is usually about swapping attunements as fast as possible, because of long skill cooldowns and benefits from that swapping.
But this ’’overloading’’ looks like it’s working against that. Forcing you to stay in 1 att longer and not swapping so quickly. That 20 sec cd sounds really scary.
Also if you will be overloading in pvp, you will just be a snack for mesmers if you don’t get on some stability (yeah, again cantrips). Because Tempest should be close to mid range, we should expect heavy interrupts from other classes as well.
Shouts sounds pretty interesting, exept the elite one, I hope it will offer more than what they wrote. We don’t need another terrible elite skill.
Because we are getting OH and that visibly avoiding of scepter comments by Karl, I have high hopes that they will finally do something and bring the scepter from that position in which it currently is.

I am really disappointed that they give this thing to ele. There are 2 reasons:
1. – warhorns are the ugliest weapons, even their animations looks bad ( I doupt ele will be throwing warhorns or something)
2. – Our current off-hands are great, while main-hands sucks. We really don’t need another off-hand as long as main-hands are bad.

Ideas for additional utilities

in Revenant

Posted by: Avador.8934

Avador.8934

Hey there, as you probably know, the Revenant doesn’t have access to changing his utility skills within one legend. This actually split them into separate blocks (legends) we can choose. It is a nice idea to let Revenant swap utilities during the fight, but the lack of customization will be still noticeable. I was really glad when Anet showed Rev with weapon swap, which was something he really needed. Without that Rev can be extremely predictable. You see Rev running around with hammer and Jalis icon and immediately you know 2/3 of his skills. But still.. Rev only have 12 utility skills (probably 15 with elite spec), while other proffesions have 20 (24 with elite spec). Isn’t that a little unfair? Sure, Rev have one more elite than others, but that’s just 1 skill. So, my idea is to make additional 2 utility skills for each legend. Then he will have 20 utility skills (25 with elite spec). I think it nicely compensate low general customisation of his skills. Every other proffession can combine any heal skill with any utility skills with any elite skill. Rev cannot.
So there are some of my ideas of additional utility skills for Revenant:

Jalis:
1. skill – Block next 3 attacks, gain protection when expires.
2. skill – Summon dwarf from the mists to attack your foe. (Slowly drains energy, can be released)

Mallyx:
1. skill – Enchant your weapon with Mallyx’s power, your next few attacks with that weapon inflict randomly torment, poison or bleeding.
2. skill – Teleport to target location, cripple nearby foes and inflict stack of bleeding on them for each type of condition you have.

Ventari:
1. skill – Summon energy barrier around the tablet for a few seconds, foes cannot cross the energy borders.
2. skill – Gaind regeneration to nearby allies, blind nearby foes.

Shiro:
1. skill – Grants swiftness, your and your allies next attack deal 25% more damage.
2. skill – Remove conditions, damaging nearby foes. Damage incerases per condition removed.

And what about you? Do you have same opinion as me? If yes, do you have any ideas for additional revenant’s utilities?

Yeah, some people are telling that they don’t want sword because it’s the same as dagger, but it’s not. Dagger on ele isn’t pure melee weapon. Also warhorn is just a nonmagical version of focus. If Anet wants to give us something that will change our playstyle, they will not add new OH (the ones we currently have are perfect) and certainly not warhorn.

What new skills do you hope HoT will bring?

in Elementalist

Posted by: Avador.8934

Avador.8934

The reason why ele should get sword and no warhorn:
New weapon should expand the current proffession, give it something that it’s lacking, give it something that the base proffession can’t use.

Ele is lacking a melee weapon with chain AA and nice mobility. New weapon shouldn’t be support themed, because ele now has a lot of support.

Also:
- Every proffession have long ranged weapon exept thief. (Thief will propably get rifle to compensate)
- Every proffession have mid ranged weapon.
- Every proffession have melee ranged weapon exept Engineer (Will mosty like get hammer to compensate) and ELE

So it should be melee weapon, that means: sword, axe or mace. And a lot of people think it is sword. It also fits ele theme perfectly.

So.. NO WARHORN PLS

Ele is also the only proffesion with no melee weapon (dagger isn’t melee) I am not counting engi cause we know he will get hammer.

Fixing tornado

in Elementalist

Posted by: Avador.8934

I have 3 ideas:
1.
- Incerases health while transformed
- Blocks projectiles, while there’s a 50% chance to reflect it
- Doesn’t reduce movement speed
- Gains 3 stacks of stability instead of 1

2.
- Not transform anymore, instead summons a tornado in a targeted location
- Tornado can’t move
- It blinds, damages and weakens foes who gets into the tornado
- While tornado is active, the skill is replaced with another one, giving you the ability to teleport to tornado’s location, destroying it, but launching nearby foes

3.
- Make it a signet instead (Signet of Storm)
- While passive: Reduce recharge of your attunements
- While active: Surround yourself with a storm, blinding and causing vulnerability to nearby foes and blocks projectiles for a short time
- Reduce recharge to 90 sec

Why to nerf Consume Conditions on Necro? Where’s the reason? You propably wanted to make other heals being more used, but in PvP they are almost nothing compared to Consume Conditions in it’s current state. Please, let it be as it is. Or if you really want to make other heals being more used, then buff them. But Necro doesn’t deserve more nerfs

Yeah, you were right, this build was awful, now I can see it.
So I remade it according to your advices…

S/F version:

So I hope it’s better now
An now I want to know not if it’s viable, but if it’s good ( and if not, what should I change now)

Is this build viable for PvE?

Hi everyone,
I just want to know if this build can be useful in PvE, mainly in fractals/dungeons:

1. variant:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fFQQJArdnMISLDWABmNAdEG4AwIPE+BBxQBAxfgRwKE-TxBBABA8AAsU9Hi2fIP9Aap8jhTAAaKBDAcA8bfDgnP/8lXe5+93f/93fLDQ+WA-e

2. variant:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fFQQJArdnMISLDWABmNAdEGoAwIfEGCFxwFgHQAQ0IA-TxBBABA8AAsU9Hi2fIP9Aap8jhTAAaKBDAcA8bfDgnP/8lXe5+93f/93fLDQ+WA-e

I am mainly PvE player, and I love my ele. But I hate when I can die so easily, especially in some fractals. But when I focus on defense = lower dps. And other players just don’t like when ele do lower dps. They would like me to be zerk. But I don’t want to be zerk. So I created this build. It’s just a little try, I just wanted to make some defense while keeping good dmg. I want someone to say which variant is better or what should I change…

2hander Elite specs vs 1hander Elite spec

If ele gets sword for elite spec. , then it’s 3×4 = 12 new weapon skills. (If ele gets new attunement it’ll be 16 + new skills from old weapons) and he can still add dagger/focus for offhand. I think that’s a nice compensation for ele
