To simply put it, thieves don’t really need any major “nerfs” or changes. Stealth is mostly fine besides some culling issues here and there when there are big groups. Damage seems balanced enough provided that players do know how to fight thieves.

But as of right now, most classes are already considered ‘nerfed’ so they are already in the L2P phase. Next will be thieves, so yeah L2P since so many of the thieves like to tell others to L2P. So yeah, thieves L2P. LOL

I’m pretty sure Arenanet hands out temporary bans for people who verbally abuse others, including swearing excessively at them.

A well-known Commander on my server was banned for such behaviour where others wanted us to basically sign a petition to remove the ban.

However, you have to report people or nothing will change, and you won’t get banned immediately so it may take a few reports at least for before action will be taken.

Of course, I do agree swearing is immature and shows a lack of education as the person cannot communicate an idea across effectively.

Actually, if you think about it. Reporting another player does not requires the offensive language to be hurled especially to you. So in another word, you can report your enemy commanders (even if you do not know whether he has sweared before) but if by sheer luck he has and the chat log (the almighty evidence) is there, then you win! if it’s not, then you can just argue ‘but i find that offensive’.

I seriously find it rude that you come into another class’s thread and tell them how to play or mock the community that plays that class just because you encounter one or two players that play the class differently from the rest. Arena Net promotes different play styles and not a cookie cutter build. I am pretty sure that you don’t see 100% of thief community running around with Shadow Refuge. Its a matter of play style and opinions, if you don’t like how that ranger in your party is playing then by all means just tell him, instead of making a non-constructive thread such as this.

It’s also okay to run full magic find gear and stand in the fire whilst doing fractals. I’m sure the other members of the group will appreciate that.

As for the thread. I just feel it is a warranted public service announcement that can be discussed. But so far I’ve seen no legitimate reason not to use healing spring. Same goes for shadow refuge. If you like you and your group members getting repair bills constantly. By all means. Be that guy.

But I rather you do better. Because when you do better. I do better. When we do better. The whole group does better. Making fractals more pleasant to participate in.

You must be too simple minded to think that using healing spring will miraculously ensure no wipe in the party. It doesn’t. And your whole post is basically just ranting over a ‘particular’ player who refused to follow your advice to use healing spring. Yeah, learn to play with others.

Its just a causality of war that Anet is declaring on gold sellers I think they are doing a good job in trying to weed them out. No, it’s not acceptable especially those wrongfully suspended or accused are not compensated. There is a reason why people speaks up for such situation (to let Anet know something is definitely wrong with their system) and the typical pathetic response most players like you give ‘oh it’s too bad but its for the greater good’.

As to your example, a player quoated a phrase he was reporting? so he KNEW it was offensive, and he reposted it AGAIN? Rightful ban! He should have known better. Even posting the word reported is just trying to get start something with the person reported. You report them, then move on. Simple as that.

Let me try to put things in perspective for you. I have a US account that was hacked by China. They hacked my account, stole all of my gold from my characters and vault, removed every item from my vault, sold it too, collected the gold and left me stripped, broke and void of everything I had worked so very hard far. This Chinese hacker most likely took my gold, transferred/mailed it another hacking account and sold it for real money. As a result, I’ve been unable to play for 11 days now. I still don’t have my account restored, I’ve missed the entire Winter Holiday events, as well as, everything you just listed above. Arenanet is trying to block and prevent these hackers from collecting and selling our precious gold from innocent victims.

So you’ve resorted to transferring items to each other through the guild bank. Isn’t that what it is there for? Step back and look at the big picture. Yes, you were inconvenienced for a couple of days. You were red flagged for moving gold, which apparently was large enough to raise eyebrows and Arenanet took measures to stop it. All you had to do was submit a ticket, they reviewed it and gave you your account back. If a few people have to be inconvenienced in this manner to try and prevent hackers and gold farmers running off with innocent people’s gold and earned items, I believe that is a small price to play until they get a better handle and containment of those who will abuse the game and rob the innocent.

Problem is this issue keeps happening over and over and over and over and over again. When genuine players voiced out their dilemma, they get responses like yours which basically just say ‘support Anet even when they made bad decision because it’s for the greater good of others’.

It’s kinda sad because this will keep happening and I pray it will happen again only to you so the rest can be spared.

I think the general consensus for players Gaile, or whichever mod may be viewing this currently;

1. not every player knows your CoC back to front as you do.
2. people make mistakes when the first create accounts such as creating incorrect names – perhaps a word filter at character select would help them so they don’t have to spend 72 hours banned after their first hour of gameplay.
3. what is rude in one country is not rude in others (how can we know this) i.e. fanny is an american term for your gluticus maximus but over here in ireland it means a womans genitalia.
4. why is there no warnings? why jump straight to bans? surely you can follow how many infractions an account has, why is there not some lee-way here for first time offenders or wrongly reported people.
5. which brings me to the point of – it feels as if bans/chat logs are not looked over correctly, from reading above and in other threads it looks like they are just skimmed over or automated so a program picks up a curse word in your database and finds the user who typed and just auto bans them. where is the human touch gone?
6. it really does seem as if mods are trigger happy when it comes to game/forum moderations.
7. is the game turning into a point where no player wants to disagree with a player in map chat in case they get reported by someone either having a bad day or just too click happy and end up with a 72 hour ban for getting misconstrued?

I just did some digging into reddit forum four months ago. things like ‘shut the toot (insert f word) up with non-english, geez >.<’ is also given a suspension. There were some post from anet saying that if it’s within private / guild chat it’s ok if no one report it. So in another word you can joke around in guild chat and if a disgruntled member wants to grief you, he can simply report you and you can get suspended 3 days without warning for something as ridiculous as “This isn’t Africa, you don’t adopt black kids.”

I’m sorry but I don’t think your case should be any different. The whole problem is the way Anet handles this ‘inappropriate language’ suspension. You should not get any different treatment. In fact, everyone who have remotely use any offensive words at any point of time in this game need to be suspended regardless if they were reported just to be fair to the rest of the players. Since so many of the forum people here keep harping about ‘u read the term and condition, u agreed to it’ why should people be punished only when they are reported. Anet should step up their moral policy and do automatic suspension. Don’t have to wait for someone to report.

There is so many grey area in this matter and it’s ridiculous that such a ‘heavy punishment’ is given out according to the Anet after ‘heavy review and consideration’ when they can’t even give us the chat log and explaining the logic behind their ‘heavy review and consideration’. If you have, in any way, used the in-game chat feature to communicate to any other players that appears inappropriate, you get reported and bingo you hit the jack pot.

To avoid such issue in future, don’t bother communicating to any other players in-game because that will get you suspended. Likewise, you can report other players for verbal abuse. The ban was for 72 hours.
Question 1: IF there is a profanity filter, what could I have possibly said that promoted a ban.

2. Your warning was the accaptable use policy you should have read before making your account. No other warnings are given for any offense.

FYI, there are some posters here in the forums who have an axe to grind with support. Take what any poster execpt the official anet reps say with a grain of salt.

You’re pretty hilarious. One of this day, you’re going to get infracted for your posts on the forums then you’ll be like “what the kitten is wrong with my post?” It’s a natural human reaction because we want to know what’s wrong so we can rectify the problem or clarify it.

It’s the same thing when a police officer stops you on the road and ask you to follow them back to the station. Your first instinct will be ‘what did I do wrong officer?’. Instead of the officer telling you ’oh, nothing we just need your help to investigate a case we are working on", he tells you nothing and insist that you cooperate. Then turns out “oops, they got the wrong person”

Yeah official rep in this forum have been known to review cases and ‘oops, we’re sorry for the error, but hey it’s for your own good or the greater good of the majority’.

Proof should be given. Why?

1) It proves that Anet have performed the necessary check and investigation.
2) The suspended party will want to know why/what he did wrong which in turn raise a ticket (unnecessary delay) or make a forum post (bad rep)
3) It leaves no room for more ‘allegations’, if you can suspend someone for inappropriate language, there is definitely clear evidence of such behavior.
4) Educate the player so he will not repeat the mistake.

In-Game Behavior Issues
“We do not accept appeals for administrative action taken in connection with in-game behavior. It is particularly not in our best interest to engage in debate about suspensions with those who frequently are in breach of the Rules of Conduct.”

Just take it as a lesson learnt, now you know how to get someone you don’t like suspended. You can do the same to others. Just pay it forward and spread the ‘love’ because apparently the moral police doesn’t have any.

they kinda have it stated somewhere, I think in their code of conduct or some kitten place that they don’t response to in-game suspension. I know cause my friend looked and told me and was kitten at me. But how the kitten am I supposed to know it’s him and how the kitten does Anet not review the chat log and take things into context. Oh wait, they can’t because they only rely on black and white chat log. They shouldn’t suspend an account for 3 days in that case.

Anyway, there is nothing you can do. Either you pay it forward so other can suffer the same way you did or just don’t bother with chat in-game anymore.

It’s one of those ‘too bad, life is unfair situation’

This reminds me of the situation I got my friend into previously. We played GW2 together and in real life we are kinda close so calling each other names is normal.

It happened in WvWvW, I was in a bad mood and someone who I don’t recognized whispered me ‘hi kittener’ and I thought somehow the enemy player managed to know my account name and whispered me (that’s back then when reporting another player shows the account name).

So I just reported the player, next thing I know it’s my friend who created a new character and wanted my help but he got suspended for inappropriate language. He created a ticket and waited and waited and was pretty mad at me. Eventually 3 days is up no response from Anet, he got his account back. I treated him lunch as an apology, unlike Anet, I value my friend more than they do their customers.

I feel your pain. May I suggest that you pay it forward after 71 hours once you get back into the game.

Another example of how Anet doesn’t try to educate its players so they can avoid / correct their mistake. It makes people second guess every single thing in-game and instill a sense of worthless fear. All it does is gives itself a bad name and doesn’t help the player to grow and learn from his/her mistakes.

Change your name to what? What’s wrong with the current name? Will the new name be yet another mistake?

Keep your player in the dark. Yeah, that’s the best way to help them.

I believe WoW does that, they send you an email with the chat log of the exact word you use together with some link of the code of conduct. The idea is to warn you and educate you so you do not repeat the same behavior.

Anet does it differently. Suspend you immediately (3 days for that). Doesn’t tell you what the kitten you have done wrong (so you don’t actually learn what not to repeat) and reward the people who report you (hurray they got you!). So people will keep reporting others for every little tiny kitten disagreement they have in-game.

The concept of reward/punishment is hilarious in Anet. Look what those posters above says. Doesn’t matter what the crime is, punishment need to be dealt with. Oh but it’s ok to close one eye on the more serious crime. Forget about the persistent bully in school, just punish those normal kids that lashes out to because of a bad day.

good luck because in GW2 world, bad language is considered the biggest crime. It even tops exploits, cheat, glitch and abuse. So start reporting players when you get back into game to pay it forward.

Also, gotta learn to rephrase your insult in-game. Instead of saying ’you’re a dumb toot’, say ’you’re pretty dense’. Instead of calling someone pathetikittentle toot toot, say ’i’m sorry that you are not better in this game like I am’.

If you have, in any way, used the in-game chat feature to communicate to any other players that appears inappropriate, you get reported and bingo you hit the jack pot.

To avoid such issue in future, don’t bother communicating to any other players in-game because that will get you suspended. Likewise, you can report other players for verbal abuse. As long as they have inappropriately used some ‘bad’ word, no mattter what the context or situation, hey they get banned. You win. So yeah, good luck.

So true. Boys and girls don’t use bad language in-game mmkay but you can carry on exploiting/cheat/hack/glitch as long as you don’t get caught. Oh even if you get caught, you won’t be punished immediately cause you need to be ‘researched’ into so you can keep abusing the game. Yeah the severity of the punishment and the manner it is dealth with is irrelevant.

My account was hacked last week, and I was very happy with the initial support provided by ANet. I supplied all important info, reformatted my comp, changed all my email passwords, and installed better security. ANet returned the account to me.

Of course, my immediate question was about getting my ‘lost’ stuff returned. On 12/21 the response from Hector on case 121220-002277 was basically ‘No’.

I decided to accept this fate, but did go on to plead for 1 of my 2 ‘Gifts of Explorations’ back, I have not received a reply.

Now today, I see the FAQ posted by Gaile that if an account was compromised since Dec 1,2012, it CAN be rolled back – this was not offered to me, so now I’m confused, and a little concerned.

I don’t want to be rolled back now – I’ve spent a significant time re-acquiring things and have some nice stuff since the return of my account. Seeing that support did NOT give me the option to roll back on the support request, is it possible to get this one item returned to me? I’m not asking for both, I just want ONE gift of exploration back. Having to get 100% world exploration all over again just gives me this sinking feeling. I enjoyed the journey but have no desire to do that all over again anytime soon.

If rollback is my only option, I may have to just suck it up and take it…but would really like to hear a response on what can be done, if anything since support says no, but the forum post says ‘yes’.

Being a commander does not give you any more rights and privilages then any other player, if you break the rules, you have to pay the price just like everyone else.

Things are insignificant as like (OMG) bad language is handled so swiftly with a 3 day suspension. Wow, it’s just amazing like why don’t they ban inappropriate language in waves instead.
