Tier 3 Human armor and the Trickster armor without the mask and shoulders are the only light armor ive ever liked on males in this game
I’d settle for just knowing what this class is supposed to do. I still have no idea.
ANet has said that the Ranger is supposed to be GW2’s pet class. That’s fine… until you read the Dec 10th patch thread that ANet says they know pets don’t work and they have no intention of working on them. what sense does it make to have a pet class when the pet doesn’t, and will never work?
I primarily play WvW as a power Ranger. It’s very obvious what the deficiencies are with the class and after a year, nothing has been done to resolve any of them. Without burst, AE, or meaningful utility… what does this class actually provide? And does it provide it better than anyone else? I can’t think of anything other than being a warm body to soak damage.
At this point… I just want ANet to tell us why this class even exists.
This is EXACTLY what im talking about. We are the pet class with broken pets, so what is our direction??? I want to know if its worth getting a legendary or not for this class or is it going to become extra inventory.

Most of you “feel” that rangers suck because of your mindset. If you think the others do it better, they will “do it better”. Well, not really, you just think they will and when you try them, you automatically think it is so much easier and so much better and so much stronger. Then you 1v1 a upleveled bearbow zerker ranger and win hands down, feeling that rangers suck even more.
You are all victims of bandwagon psychology.
Warriors CAN be strong, but they are far from special. I got one myself, have been using it for a long time. No matter what build, it is nothing impressive. The weapons are often sluggish, they lack finesse, and the animations is boring as hell.
The bow have ONE forgiving function, that is the firefield from the adrenaline burst. The rest is just outright “MEEEEEEEEH”. I’d take a thief shortbow (just skills, not mechanic) over a warrior longbow any day.
The Rifle on the warrior is seriously dead. Aside from killshot it is about as exciting as a soaked firecracker on a stormy night.
The GS, what GS? That weapon is defined by one thing, 100b. The rest of it is mediocre.
Hammer – Fine, can be fun, i admitt that.
Sword/X can be quite ok to play, but it suffers from the “ezmode” decease.
500 regen/sec. a million condition cleanses. WOW, what a useful thing, guess what i play on my ranger, guardian, ele and necro? POWER. Now your warrior is useless. All those traits spent on countering conditions are hindering you. What a drag.And finally, i have yet to meet ONE warrior, one single warrior, in the whole of EU, or anywhere else for that matter, that can measure up to even a glass cannon ranger in roaming.
Oh and if you think pets are too situational, you have yet to learn how to use them.
In the end, it is a L2P issue.

Hammer is an AOE stunning knock down killer. Fun is just the cherry on top.
Lets not get into sword on Warrior. Its a condition weapon that happens to hit as hard as other classes power weapon.
Speaking of that, lets talk about the Longbow, thats also a condition weapon that hits harder than other peoples power weapons. It has a fire field that is EXTREMELY useful, you just have no idea what youre talking, and an aoe blast. come on bro… really?
TheWarriors firecracker rifle or whatever weird thing you said is stronger and better than our Longbow, which is sad because Warriors dont even use this thing. Id kill to have this on my Ranger.
GS? What GS? Its the highest mobility weapon in the game. 100B is just for stunned enemies in a zerg or that ran out of dodges after a knockdown. The AA isnt even powerful on it and its still stronger than our melee.
You didnt list all the other weapons Warriors have so I wont either (im thinking you have no idea what they are) especially since you said nothing about the Mace.
This isnt a L2P issue, this is a You’ve never played Warrior issue.

exactly what Nica said is what many, many players say. Its disturbing to be honest. While I dont feel Useless on my Ranger at all, I can hold it down better than most Warriors, Im also using an unbelievable amount of skill to do things that are simple on other classes and they can prob do it better or just the same. We all know the Pets have serious issues, we need a rework on all of our weapons first because the pet is just an after thought. I dont consider it anything special since I can use embers on all of my classes and they are far far better than any pet

Thief is better than Ranger almost everywhere in every situation.
I wish condi damage was better in PVE because I personally prefer to run condi builds. I had so much fun leveling up my Engi using rabid gear and such, that when I hit 80 and went zerk it felt peh
No, we don’t need it and it would make it very clunky in terms of being able to command the pet.
And we are not handicapped, the pet AI is really smart on when to use their skills, if you stop for a moment and learn when the pets use their skills and fight around that, as well as watching your pet to see what they’re doing, you’ll be a lot better off and realize that it’s in no way, shape or form “random”.
And i don’t know why you’re dragging Engineer and elementalist in here, they have very simple prof mechanics,the engineers profession mechanic is about as simple as it gets, all it is is 4 extra utility skills. Elementalist just gives them 2 additional weapon swaps, not very complex.
The reason that elementalists sit in one attunement in PvE is because many people play elmenetalist so they can be “The mage” and they want to be an <insert element here> mage and as such they think that they can play effectively by not using any other attunement.
It’d be like if you rolled ranger and think “I don’t wanna use a pet!” so you keep it on passive the whole time and never actually do anything involving the pet and never send it in, you’re gimping yourself because you’re not playing the prof because you have some stupid notion in your head that the square peg will fit through the circle hole.

I agree The Ranger can do more damage that the Warrior. A couple of classes hit harder than Warriors in fact, its just Warriors dont require much setting up to hit their max damage and can pump it out more efficiently.
I QQ about Rangers nonstop and I admit it the fullest, but its because I absolutely love Rangers in this game and in every other game they make their grand appearance. I also dont think the Warrior is OP at all, its just built so well that its flaws dont show compared to other clsases.

Anet, please respond to this. I understand there are hundreds of crying threads out there per class, especially with the Ranger, but we really need some confirmation on what to expect.
It has been over a year and we are still barely viable. I will leave WVW and PVP talk for other forum members if they so wish, but im mainly focusing on PVE right now. PVE is where MOST player start, and its kind of sad when in map chat queensdale new players are being told not to play Ranger because youre not wanted in any dungeon and youre even more worthless beyond PVE.
Can we get ANY kind of word on what the direction is on this class??? The majority of us have given up on thinking pets will be worth anything on any level of the game. Will we ever have decent Melee? Why is the GS on other classes so much more powerful than with us Rangers???? I know its our “defensive” weapon, but Warrior GS is 2 -3x stronger and it has a whirlwind evade, and gets out of combat/direct damage much better than us…
I understand youve seen this all before. I get it, we all get it, but we dont get why we cant get any kind of answer. Our new heal is the worst thing ive ever (seen besides the Ranger axe main hand anyway) and im not sure if you can even fix that or if anyone cares too.
Your company is starting to receive a real bad name for not caring about the player base and its sad because we know (we do, we really do) that you care about this game and its fans. A friend of mine (cough cough) plays FF14 and the amount of ANET bashing on their because of lack of class balancing is amazing. (This same friend came back to GW2 just to let you know, hes a great guy and you should toss him a precursor).
Please give us any kind of response, even if its a “kitten out of luck” so I know whether or not I should put more gold into this class or go back to my Warrior or Mesmer.
Please, some kind of word that there is ANY kind of direction towards the Ranger coming. If you guys cannot see that we are bootleg Warriors right now than I dont know what to do or say. A Warrior with a 1 silver Ember is better than us in every way. I hate to keep comparing us to Warriors I really do, but we have similar mechanics and are just worse in every single way.

sorry, but i am not impressed by anything other then the crit chance. The rest is simply average. Sure it seems insane with all that immobilize, yet you can do that on a ranger with ease, you can even exceed it.
The LB is slow. It seems strong, but it is slower, much much slower, then even the ranger LB. So the DPS equals out. Most of the attacks are “fan” attacks, and another interesting fact is that when an attack says ""Damage (3x): 660"", it means 660 damage divided by 3 attacks. That means for it to do full damage you must be in melee range. A place were you do NOT want to use that slow longbow.Sorry mate, the build is solid, that is without a doubt, but there is nothing in there that the ranger cannot do.

because people are just entitled gamers these days. If you played old MMOs you would be thankful for GW2 and love this kitten like no other, similar to how I do.
Im from the Ultima Online days where you can be killed by anyone near anywhere and lose all of your gear and items in the snap of a finger. The horror stories of that game still make me and some old friends cringe. THAT was real grinding. Took me 4 and a half years to get the best katana, announced it in a dungeon that I got it and was murdered and lost 3 years worth of loot. yep. THAT was punishment, and dont know why I played it for so many years.
Now GW2 isnt really a grind. Ascended gear is for long term investment so you actually have something to do besides getting the easy to get exos. Its whatever and nothing to complain about but people today just love to cry. People that dont want new gear confuse me… why are you playing an MMO? Why are you playing the same content over and over if you want no growth? Play a good JRPG, you can level up and get the best gear and actually have an ending to boot.
Todays gamers? want the story to be delivered exactly how “it needs to be” or its kitten. Gear grinding? thats kitten. Everything is kitten. No one appreciates anything and in games today, and devs have it rough. GW2 is unique in how its build and I could tell from jump it was going to take awhile for it to fully flesh out. How they are going about it is interesting, and the living story is a great concept even if the story absolutely sucks, but the crying… and kittening… its unreal.

Staff is just fine in PVE as your back up weapon. Sword/x Staff is great for maps and can work great in dungeons. its awesome in wvw too but thats a much more in depth convo. Mesmer is the type of class that should def carry all weapons on them at all times. I use Staff for bosses depending on the group im running with. If they unload a good 5-10 condis on the boss, staff 3 is hitting for a solid 8-16k and ill switch to s/s for more dps. Throw sigil of energy or battle on that bad boy and its all good. I dont use GS for anything except for high level fractals
Warrior in Soldier/Cav is so hard to deal with for every class. Im not saying theyre an auto win, but they are always down for a good fight and have the mobility to disengage and regroup/re equip which is awesome
congrats my man! bothers me seeing a Mesmer with a legendary greatsword for some reason, I feel like 1hs is what represents us but whatever, lookin good and a job well done

There is no ranger in this game. Closest thing we have to a Ranger is a Thief or Warrior using an Ember

Please give all the classes new weapons. We love this game and try to love the constant trait changes and nerfs and buffs, but you are working with one hand tied behind your back and people are getting more annoyed than you realize. Open up more weapon selection, which can open build diversity, THEN make traits changed/work as seen fit. There are simply too many limitations right now to make it work correctly. Engis have no proper melee, Thieves are forced to use Daggers, Necro is a mess (according to forums). Guard and War are fine for the most part. Mesmer is great (this is heavily debated btw). Elemenalist is in a good place, but they really need another weapon, and an HP buff. Guards have Low hp but high defenses, and the other light armor classes have illusions/stealth and a 2nd health bar… ele has nothing.
Oh yea, and please add a Ranger class to this game.

I swapped over to 20/0/20/0/30 build using a full bar of minions (I’ll swap out Blood Fiend for other heals depending on content). Part soldier gear, part berzerker (eventually I plan to get Cleric’s gear), the build basically just uses minions to face-tank mobs and make your general PvE experience much easier on both yourself and the group, and I sit in DS using a fairly standard, though slightly weaker, LB build.
speak of the devil, just did fractals with 2 minion master necros and it turned out quite well. What weps are power necros even running now?
nemesis hybrid build is working great for me. Whats everyone using these days? most pugs I see are running straight condis

guild missions are the only way really, and thats extremely annoying. Granted, its viable, just extremely annoying
I just dont understand why ascended earrings are so hard to get. It makes no sense. Should be able to buy them with pristines, even if it costs like 30.

I find 0/30/0/10/30 to be the best overall. The damage good, the other builds a LOT deadlier but not having the 30 in arcane is just annoying
is there ANY reason to run soldier gear on mesmer? kinda curious. Im hitting the 40s in fracs and I was thinking of going Soldier armor and keeping my zerk trinkets. For the most part I can zerk it out but I feel as I get higher its getting more and more rough. Any use for Soldier in WVW?

I learned how to play full zerk d/d ele in dungeons and survive and it made me way better with all my other classes. People love easy content, dont know why. My main problem is the rewards man.... I have the WORST luck.. ughWell i love this instance. Done it 5 times in the past 2 days, full runs, and i seriously hope Anet put more long and challenging Instances like this one in the game. Otherwise it’s a faceroll and people will get bored really soon.
As example, a player left because he died twice. Seriously? When “not dying” was a standard to play videogames? If you die is because you did something wrong. Do it right and you will not only survive, you will also learn how to play better.

I got pistol at 24. Friend got 2 Rifles in the 20s and GS at 30
I use a pure fire staff build for every dungeon, including arah many times a day and ive never had a problem

mauled by kodan and tengu, they become playable and give us the power of katana and whip. Not only that, the death of Scarlet empowers Rangers everywhere and pets become great, GS does more damage, MH axe works like a charm and we get a pet gorilla to boot! Maybe the Gorilla is too much
