Anyway Guard has the potential to out DPS warrior, as do many other classes. The numbers are there and if you refuse to believe it run it yourself. However Warrior reaches its max damage much easier than most other classes except maybe thief.
I still roll cleric/ ptv ele d/d 10/30/30 and own. Ive never ever tried another Ele build tbh. Dont own any zerker gear, just cavalier trinkets and I dont even equip. Damage is kind “poor” but I run down anything in PVE and 2v1 people far easier in wvw than I do with any of my other classes (Except Engi). However… I wont use ele in pvp, no no no.
The numbers dont lie, Guard does out dps War. Are Nades really the way to go for engi though?? Arent bombs better dps? I feel like 9k is impossibly low… I burst with my SD Engi for higher numbers than I do with my war and my bomb kit hits hard during the 8 seconds I dont get another 2 SDs… hmm
the Ranger is a guardian thats basically worse at everything, with some thief like abilities that arent anywhere near as good as a Thief.
sorry for not just looking at previous posts but my PC is being a fool and keeps closing the browser. So basically ive been using a condition build with my engi forever (and ever) and I want to go with power now, bout to go get some zerk trinekts after I get a response to this post and I guess armor too? No idea what traits to use and im assuming Rifle. This is just for regular dungeons, as im using my mesmer for FOTM. Been playing since launch and im only level 3 FOTM…. wish FOTM level was account bound and not character sigh
.. my last and final 80. Asura is the only race I dont have and for some reason I just dont want an asura necro. Wish my Guard was an Asura instead of norn, hate how they swings swords. got my Warrior to 67 and im getting him ready for 80. Im never going to main him and ill barely ever use him since theres just so many warriors out there, thats the reason I didnt make one sooner. Sadly all I have left is necro after this. Anyway whats the most asswhip pve/dungeon build. im assuming its axe/mace GS with a lot of zerk but I dunno what traits and if theres soldiers mixed in there
you guys are cheap. account bound dyes? If it were that easy they would be worth nothing. Work for something. This game is so casual and people still complain its pathetic. It will take you a few hours, maybe 1 or 2 days of gaming if you play 2-3 hours a day, to buy the dye you want. A week for two. I have celest dye in 2 toons, abyss on 4 and midnight ice on 4. Thats with two 3 month breaks. Just stop complaining so much. They give you more and more ways to make gold quick and people still cry. good god
whats up with that? I think its awesome, just strange its all at once. My 45 warrior is running into new players all over the zones in Ehm bay. A guild mate and I think its because people that bought FF14 at launch and didnt want to pay the sub price hopped over and got GW2. Thats really the only thing I can think of

Ive seen Fire Emblem characters, Drizzt Do’Urden, Gandolf, Legolas, and a bunch of other randoms. Assassins Creed, the Hulk, Iron man. No Mega Man or Zero love? come on. (I really just want someone to do this so I can copy them, thanks)

ive had a bunch of these suckers in my bank for awhile, really for no reason… anyone use these? if so, what weapon and class?
Ele was my main forever. After playing with others and coming back to it (post nerf) I realized the class is borderline worthless. Now im not saying it cant work, because it does and it works well…. but, every Ele is forced into the same trait lines and similar build altogether. Its really bad. I was all for eles not having weapon swap but eff it you might as well give it to them since staff basically sucks anyway, let us have x/x and staff. Give the staff an auto attack similar to the guardians. With that said, ditch the clones on mesmer auto attack with scepter and increase the attack speed, no one will beg you for MH pistol anymore
Dear Anet.
Please stop trying to rebalance the classes currently. Its not worth it. First, add to the amount of weapons each class can use. This will help all classes across the board. After weapons are released, THEN you can retool anything that needs to be fixed. No point in doing this piece by piece every 2 months or so and rangers pets still suck and eles can do nothing except go zerk and pray for instant kills. Youre making double work for yourselves and dragging this out. With that said, Mesmer needs another melee weapon. Give Warriors a spear on land, same with Guard. Melee weapon for Engineer. The rest, whatever floats everyone elses boat. We need some real advancements, not mix and match over and over. Theres only so much butter you can put on bread before you need more bread. The talent and work behind this game is unbelievable… I want you to know that I love your work, as does everyone else, but these patches and make up brush moves are just not working. I have 6 80s, almost 7, and I love ALL the classes so far, but I can honestly say the Warrior is the only class, with maaaybe the necro, that has TRULY improved over the year since release. Im shocked that Ranger pets are still so close to worthless but im assuming theres something more to programming than any of us really understand and that the fix isnt that simple. I could go on but theres no point as I doubt ill ever get any kind of response and im super tired watching UFC and trying to farm cursed shore at the same time.
P.S. PLEASE announce an add on, it would add so much more life to this game. Even if theres no information behind it just confirm that there will be an expansion and more races/classes coming in 2014/15. Its good for business and great for fans. Thanks again.
decided to get a zerker set for every character. Figure its just good to have, that and a rabid set, plus whatever unique set up for builds.

I actually never realized how much damage Guardians do. Ive had my Guardian with Cleric trinkets and zerk gear for soooo long. I think I might get zerker trinks im kinda intrigued

I personally like the scepter but I agree. However, we have a GS and staff for range, we just want another another mh ranged weapon because our off hand weapons are so good. We have 3 ranged weapons and 1 melee, thats not good
just give us a mace or axe. id like to have a mh pistol but we need another mh welee weapon way more than range
Ranger is fun because every weapon is viable. Not the best class in any area, but its not weak in any either. Our only downfall is or pet is simply stupid and doesnt work well. However, if the pet buff in oct is decent we are in a great place. We’re similar to Guardians honestly, with more mobility and about the same dps. not sure which is stronger with 1hs tbh but our offhands are also really good. I dont like the shortbow at all but the longbow is a beast damage wise, but the abilities on it are so so. all around great class
interesting. Im only asking because I use mesmer and engi mostly. I got a full rabid set with perplexity runes for my engi to use in WvW, but decided to use it in PVE lately since I (Accidentally) salvaged his zerker set. The perplexity runes in PVE are actually amazing! its only OK for dungeons, but for events and and open world its actually better than going full power. anyway was just curious thanks

my original mesmer was a charr and I ended up deleting him and remaking him a mesmer. I soooo regret it honestly. Charr look so boss as eles mesmers and necros. Made a typical Charr warrior peh

running dungeons I have no issue at all. Its literally just open world maps. Ah well maybe ill just 100% with my engi :\
I would not switch to focus. Focus is good for dungeons, traited in southsun, and otherwise is mostly quality of life, especially against champs who can’t be pulled. And the warden will be killed very quickly.
I have no trouble with my mesmer in PvE. Although it’s certainly not a face roll. What is your playstyle?
If I’m going to solo a champ, I tend to bring sword / pistol and a staff. I like the pistol because of the range. I like the staff for defense. I try to always keep distance between myself and the champ. When i close it’s for a very quick pistol 4, sword 3, sword 3. sword 2, staff 2 cycle.
You can also probably do pretty well with sword / sword and scepter / pistol.
I actually use sword/sword sword/pistol in dungeons. my build is 0/20/0/25/25 (I believe) currently. im thinking of taking 10 out of dueling because clones on dodge is worthless for pve/phantasm builds. I used to play shatter exclusively. The only consistent thing I have in all my builds is the trait for healing when readying a mantra, and I always have mantra of pain equipped. Dont ask why, its been this way sine I made my mesmer forever ago. Really dunno why I have so much trouble with my mes. I decided its the class to get 100% map completion with and its the only one I have trouble with smh. im sitting at 60-80% with 6 of my toons

Mesmer is the only class I have trouble doing maps with. ive been 80 forever now but I usually only use my mes for wvw and dungeons, however lately ive decided to get maps with him and use him for champs and such since Mes is my fav class. Well, I tried to solo the reef drake broodmother in southsun and got whooped like a child 5 times. How do people solo champs as a mes? im using ascended berserk accessories, mostly zerk gear with a few soldier pieces in there. I usually use s/s/ with GS for map. maybe I should switch to focus? ugh. I feel pathetic. I switched to my engi and beat the broodmother down like it owed me mats. smh sorry im venting here
Im looking for a solid condition build for Mesmer… this looks pretty good. ive watched some of your videos and its awesome. Only thing im not sure about is the perplexity runes… my engi has perplexity runes and kill things 5x faster, and survives jus as well. Im not sure if that really means anything though in the long run. I have to give this a whirl
im forcing my brother to help me farm for mats for my ascended sword (dont ask, long story) and he has no choice. My weapon smithing is only at 150. I sadly spent money on 6 lyssa runes and 12 traveler just a few days ago so now im down to about 35g. I have around 450 orich saved up. Is it best to just do events and such and salvage the gear, or run dungeons and buy the mats? sorry for this confusing nonsense im half asleep thanks
both in PVE and WVW. Im using fire/force on my s/s. bloodlust on pistol, fire on GS, energy on staff, energy on another sword and a torch. im thinking of going sigils of battle for PVE
So yea. My guard and Engi im great with in WVW, thief and mesmer im awful. I can kill people with my mes, but not as well as I want. I think im just not good with a shatter build but maybe im wrong. whats a good WVW set up that isnt condition based? I prefer engi for cond so im trying to find a pretty good sustained or burst spec for wvw. sorry for the horrible grammar and I know theres tons of posts like this but I just got hog tied and whooped in wvw

nah I roll people with my engi. I prefer Thief though I just suck! im willing to drop sword altogether and use d/p if I have to, dunno what a good build is for it though. I like the Thief for the burst because all my other toons I play sustained or cond. woe is me.
@Excal I just lose 1v1 against anyone decent honestly. When I pick up my Engi or Mes, I can feel what im doing worng… Thief, i just lose. Im not too squishy either I just seem to do everything wrong. I dunno. maybe im playing too many classes
I need tips. I dont wvw enough. back at launch and up to jan i wvw a lot, took a break, and since I came back ive been mostly PVE. With thief, I absolutely seem to suck at wvw. What key bounds are you guys using? im running a 10/30/0/0/30 which ive been using forever. changed to other traits but always end up back at this. I prefer sword for main hand over dagger, but im down for the cause to use anything. I tried p/d and hated it sadly. any tips at all?
S/P has always been good. people ran away from it when they nerfed the PW damage, but the set itself has always been quality
Edit – just took a gander at your second build and its the same set up I use exactly, except I use force instead of paralyze sigil. interesting though, I may give that a whirl. I use that build for all weapon sets except p/d

Lyssa on one set, Scholar on the other. I’ll probably make a set for traveler eventually also. I bought 6 runes, but ended up giving them to my Mesmer. As awesome as traveler are I prefer Lyssa for the condition cleanse. I play d/p and s/d as my alt, though lately ive been sucking with s/d

im on the fence about purchasing perplexity runes. I feel like they may get nerfed… yet at the same time a lot of people have showed me theyre good but not GREAT once you are aware of them. Not saying they are bad in anyway, but fellow WvW folk have said that as long as youre familiar with whats coming they arent OP just annoying as shiznit

ahhh im completely bugging… apparently, im not full zerker. I have a lot of soldier pieces on and have 21k hp. I was wondering why I Wasnt hitting that hard…. should I go full zerk?
oh and im using traveler runes. Strangely, I have a lot of trouble PVE/map wise with my mes compared to my thief. weird
Only slightly on topic, S/P is extremely underrated. Most stopped using it back when PW damage got nerfed, but really PW is just for the evade/invul. I have more success with it than I do s/d

My on going battle of who I love more between mesmer and thief is I think finally over. There are simply too many thieves in the game so its pushed me to my mes.
