I would have thought a game called Guild Wars would have more to offer larger guilds. Maybe in due time.
A good motivating factor would be to severely decreasing the amount of runs needed to afford a full set of explorable gear. Honestly anything more than 20 is pushing it, but I’d be okay with 30/35 if all dungeons simply shared the same tokens.
Either way, it needs to go down by AT LEAST half.
I can at least agree with this.100+ runs of the same dungeon to get a set of armor is kinda ridiculous.
The proverbial carrot on a stick you were talking about…
Bugs will be worked out and botters/gold sellers will be dealt with as well as any MMO can.
The lack of end-game content is an issue for replayability, though.
Why GW2 is not going to be the next WoW
Stopped reading here tbh, as this pretty much sums up everything wrong with this thread, as well as explaining most reasons you probably didn’t like the game.
If you play a game, that tries it’s damnedest not to be WoW, like WoW…you’re gonna have a bad time.
The problem is Anet has blatantly stated it’s going after WoW, therefor it is fair imo to compare the two games.
OP is trolling us…
I never understood the concept of a PvE encounter being considered “difficult or challenging.” It is a static encounter. It is a mob that has AI that is programmed to do a scripted routine. It usually only takes a small amount of time into a fight to determine what you need to do, and then you just repeat that process every time you fight it. Is doing that over and over again really a challenge for some of you?
Also, I noticed some of you completely disregard what Amadeuz.4617 was saying. The concept of “there is no way to progress you character at level 80” is the wrong way to view this game. Do you become increasingly more powerful? No, that is not the purpose of the game. You keep progressing your characters story by completing other zones, playing WvWvW to increase your kill count/get achievements, or play sPvP and increase your rank there.
The paradigm of getting better gear by repeatedly doing the same thing over and over and over again, thus making your character more powerful, is a broken mechanic. Character progression in this game is done through the story/world experience, not through the gear. Your character does not become increasingly powerful the more you play, but you continually get a new play experience.
Also, for those of you who are complaining about challenging content, I would suggest giving WvWvW or sPvP a try. In those zones you fight people. I know the fights are non-scripted which may essentially make it impossible for some of you, but that is how you become better. Learn to handle unexpected situations.
So you’re saying the only endgame for cap level players is PvP when a majority of the game is PvE?
Maybe you should stick to Civilization.
Just turn the barbarians off and make sure to only have one rival on the map.
OH yeah, don’t forget to set it to easy.
To be honest, you should get a ban or something, as the OP just stated his feelings about the game. He was not rude to you, why are rude towards him? Are you a bully ONLY on the forums? Please, grow up.
The OP did state something – he likes more complicated, more, lets call it, intelligent games, that are not so based on fast pace, but on tactics, strategy. He obviously likes MMO’s and RPGS, but the industry is going in that direction. Pace. Speed. Even our lives are.
OP, hope you do find a game for yourself. Doubt any MMO will be anymore.
How was I rude…s/he said this game is to fast paced for him/her.
Do you not like Civ? I think the game is a great distraction. It is turn based, so the pace should be right for the OP.
Saying that I should be banned or something for stating MY opinion…THAT was rude, but I forgive you.
Maybe you should stick to Civilization.

Ok, GW2 may not be the messiah of games, but WoW is just old and stale.
Pandas only strengthen my opinion that I shall never touch that game again.
OP, play whatever game you want. I’ll be here until I’m bored and then I’ll move on.
And what is your game of choice?
Someone has to do it.. Will Guild Wars 2 beat (be better, have more players etc) Wow?

I wasn’t aware that trying to get loot solely so you could get loot later on made a fun game. Guys, I can’t play BF3 anymore. I got all the gear for every kit, and now my character can’t get more powerful. Must be a bad game.
Joking aside (and really, that’s all the “there should be a gear treadmill in this game” argument is – a joke), this game will easily stand the test of time. A lot of the stuff that people are saying will kill the game if it’s left out was also absent from GW1, and it was still very successful.
GW2 is to WoW what The Human Abstract is to Nickelback; just because more people are locked into one game and hate the other doesn’t mean it’s somehow a better game.
There already is a gear treadmill in the game.
There are stats on gear in GW2. As you level the stats on the gear drops increase, forcing you to take the new gear for the stat upgrade. How is that not the same thing?
The gear treadmill refers to being max level, grinding out a set of gear, having that gear become inferior once a new tier of the game is released, and then chasing the new set of gear. From what I understand, this does not happen at max level in GW2. Getting stronger gear as you level is not a treadmill – you are not putting forth all that effort and staying in one spot (level).
So you’re saying that GW2 will never have new max level gear released that has better stats than what is currently in game?
Gear in GW2 is almost exactly like other MMOs. Better stats = better performance.
The main difference is that you have more freedom to choose what stats you want to stack.Gear progression exists in GW2. There is a carrot on a stick when it comes to gear.
Difference with GW2 compared to other games is once you get to 80 and get exotic gear. Once you get that it just depends what kind of stats you want and everything else is just visual and not really more “powerful”. So carrot is mainly just to look cool rather then to make content easier.
Until they release new gear with better stats and visuals…

IMO, LFG tool is needed.
GW2 is not a game based on the concept of “endgame”, as in being enslaved in a circular flow of repetitive grind->reward system.
Anet has been yelling for months that they were doing away with that kind of endgame and were going to give us legendaries for PvE, WvW for PvPvE guys and sPvP for pvpers.
They did.Not happy with this formula?
You bought the wrong game for you, regardless Anet yelling this at you for years.
Guess who’s to blame. You know what is hilarious, you say they didn’t want to do this but they did. The whole game has many aspects that promote a circular grind already for a reward.
So you know what? Why not let us structured PvE folks have our rewards for completing harder content with more powerful loot.
I have to agree with you. My leveling experience thus far has been the ‘carrot on a stick’ for gear with stats.
Anyone who says gear doesn’t matter in GW2 is fooling themselves.
On that note, love the game and don’t miss real life in the least!
Yes, but this game isn’t gear dependent. Meaning they don’t offer any higher tiers of gear and don’t set the player’s goal to get high level gear. The hardest accomplishment in this game is getting a legendary item, which is an exotic but with a different skin..I mean common, who cares? I wouldn’t, if there isn’t any real reward, if there isn’t any real impact on what I’m doing than why would I do it. I wouldn’t.
You should know that GW2 is all about horizontal progression game, not GEAR TREADMILLS WITH NO LIFE ENDLESSLY GRIND ALL THE TIME FOR BETTER STATS GEAR GAME.
The things that separate between players are Playstyles, because all attributes in this game are crucial, gear progression in GW2 is seeking for suitable gear which proper to your Builds, your Traits, your Playstyles and making your character become more unique and better looking. Rather than become more stats, more tiers, more powerful and make the entire game is all about mindless grinding game. What’s the point when you are level 80 and you have to seek for the gears and when you get gears you already know that there are always better gears in the game since the new patches come out, the game is all about gears tier chasing all the time (thats why the word “Gear Treadmills” comes from). I have enlightened before during playing the traditional online games, that it is completely pointless to play those type of games just for grinding to better gears. So If you want “Those type of games" please go back to plenty traditional MMOs.Are you HONESTLY saying that gear in this game doesn’t matter? Every piece of new gear I equip is because it has a stat upgrade compared to my previous gear.
Anyone that thinks gear doesn’t matter in the game should strip all of their precious valuables and play the game naked.
GEAR MATTERS IN GW2.
Gear does matter, but not like in other MMOs. Gear in GW2 is like a supplement to your skills where in other MMOs it solely defined how long you’d last in a PvP match.

I vote for mounts being added.
They don’t have to be a substantial speed boost, but I would prefer if they were in game.
Nothing drives some people like trying to collect all the mounts in a game.
Try out the dungeons if you are looking for challenge.
If you are tired of zergs, roll on a less populated server.
Doesn’t it cost RL currency to ‘roll on’ a less populated server?

I forget exactly where, but there is a settings feature somewhere that will keep the minimap always facing north.
Not receiving in game items from deluxe purchase

The miniature Rytlock, chalice of glory and tome of influence are one-time items. You’ll only get them on your first character.
If this were the case, which I do not think it is, why would I receive the second email?
If they are one character only items, they SHOULD NOT be sent via in game mail for the first character you create. If that is how it is, and again I do not think it is, then I want to know how to recover those items for an existing character as my original was deleted.

I am not receiving all of the in game items on my new characters.
I receive both mails, but only the mail with the banker and the ring have attachments.
I am not receiving the in game pet, etc. from the second email on any characters.

I agree with st john, finding groups should be easy and the tools for grouping should stand out.
Hmm my ranger’s pet names don’t reset, ever.
Have you tried just changing the pets completely, then slotting them back in and renaming?
That’s the issue. If you swap out pets in your pet slots, the names will reset every time.
People need to get out of that single minded mind set that the point of an mmo is to reach the current level max asap and do raids endlessly, go after the next set of gear. MMO’s are a ever thriving and growing world with tons of other people, interacting with each other on various levels. It is suppose to be a journey, about the journey. Not a destination and only the destination. One is missing the substance of a game if they only focus on max level or think a mmo is all about gear progressioin.
Speaking of which…gear progression focused games, is a lazy way to keep people busy.
IMO of course.I sincerely hope that ANET stands firm on their vision of this game. That they do NOT give in and change the game into a version of WoW. I have seen, as I’m sure everyone here too, way to many games change their original vision into something that is like WoW because way to many people beg for them to do so. And those games fall rather quickly after they make those changes.
If people want WoW features/gameplay/vision then go play WoW. I am by no means being a sarcastic or rude by saying that, I am saying that in a the logical sense.
Allow other games to be themselves. Allow ANET to see their vision through. If you find you don’t like it, that is perfectly ok. You don’t have to like every game that comes out, and not every game has to be like the first mmo you ever played.
Soooo, what PvE content will you be doing as a guild when you are max level and have crafting/skills/etc. capped and the world explored?
In any game you play the majority of your time will be spent at max level. So what is there to do for say the next 2 years while Im level 80? Am I supposed to farm DEs all day long for 700 days? Id be rich at least but I hope theres more to the game than that. I dont care about raids but what about events like Shadow Behemoth. Are there more of those at 80?
Doesn’t have to be level 80 though, since you will scale down to an appropriate level for any zone at all.
I would LOVE to see future content patches release level 20, or 40, or 2 dungeons. Then you could bring your super-elite level 80 back to Ashford Plains and have some serious level 12 dungeon goodness… because “end game” doesn’t have to mean level 80, does it?
Good point!
I think a few of you are misunderstanding what the OP posted.
s/He’s asking YOU what you will do once you have explored everything, maxed all your skills, etc.
What will hold YOU to the game after you have the entire map explored, the greatest looking armor?
What do YOU want from endgame?
This isn’t about rushing to the finish line, this is about what we will be doing once we reach the proverbial endgame.
