Guardians vs Warriors

That post misses quite alot out…they are comparing to full beserker geared classes. So when we look at health Warrior wins by a mile. As far as I am aware you do no damage when dead. The utilities he said to use have no bonus heals (monks focus) so its not like there is more ways to make up the smaller health pool. As standard warriors have a higher crit and higher power and the standard 1 combo with both is fairly comparable.
Sure warrior may have to dodge roll out of 100 blades, but guardian may have to dodge too so that is kinda a stupid point to make. The warrior in that build didnt utilize his utilities, so yeah guardian makes up the gap, then warrior stretches it again with a knockdown and 100 blades using the charge ability.
The biggest thing to note is sure we can do the same DPS if we spec fully to dps, but warrior matches or beats us and they have more health and same armor.

Changes to aegis

Although I have found both Blindness and aegis to be very helpful in some situations, it also fails miserably in others. For Arah Exp it can be great, but against multi hit based attacks it is terrible. Aegis or blind can Stop an eviscerate but a 100 blades it saves you like 500hp. I think it would be far better if it gave a 1 second block when activated. Meaning against multi hit attacks it actually has some use

I like the idea of a fury symbol after using flashing blade, would make it far more useful as a starting move. Also the idea of penetrating blows on zealots defence and being able to cast on the move would be nice, Although I would still prefer a final blow mechanic on it as it would give it some multi target damage. As WW can get me 5k on many people but ZD can get 5k on one at best. Just seems like if it is to be a single target only should be getting nearer to 7.5-8k.

I have found mine to be pretty much the same with all the bonus listed above, and i would expect it to be a bit more as it lacks the AOE factor. My main want was for the zealots and flashing as Sword needs a snare and zealots is a bit pointless a lot of the time

A 'selfish' Guardian Trait

My main complaint with my guardian is that I have no option but to be better in a team environment. I think there should be a SOLO or ‘selfish trait’ ( was thinking grandmaster Valor or Radiance ).
Anyway the thoughts for this trait would be, activating a virtue no longer gives to allies but increased the effect for yourself. Obviously needs balancing etc. But i was thinking 1.5 to 2x would be fair. This would mean a guardian can be played more as a mystic or magical soldier class. I think this is necessary as there is currently no way to be a magical warrior type class. (Although i do hope the add a new class like death/frost/blood knight which will be the other side of the coin to this guardian.) Anyway I think this trait is necessary otherwise it locks out the possibility of being a magical soldier out as making it unique in thatr position will be close to a guardian so that profession would never exist. Also an RPG, even MMORPG is design to reflect what you want to play as, Which currently I can not.

You are better off with a Warrior, Warrior has far more ‘selfish’ game play. Which is what I want to. I have played both war and guard. I tested in Mists and could make a Warrior that outperformed my guardian in everything other than boasting allies which isnt for me either. Personally i wish the was a selfish trait that allowed guard to be more of a mystical soldier…but oh well.

I have played most of my time as Guardian running with a GS, despite wanting to run with a Sword and off hand combo. This is because the massive loss in DPS when swapping to include the sword. Even with 5% Increased Sword damage and a 15% increase in one handed crit chance. As well as 10 points extra in radiance. I only just match the dps of GS with the one handed sword. With all this extra spent into damage, this annoys me as I like the skills for one handed sword. Just find them lack luster. In addition to the decreased dps it also has less utility, no grapples/control. Equal blinds, and no symbol as well as far less aoe/multi target damage. I am choosing to compare to other guardian skills as I dont want to get into my class is UP yours is OP. But i do think the sword is a less viable option that the GS. I would like to know if anyone else has found this, and their thoughts on some of my idea’s to fix this (written below)

Idea 1) Add a final strike component to Zealots defence. Much Like 100 blades has a final more damaging strike I think zealots defence would benefit well from the same idea. If the final strike was a horizonal wave instead of vertical it would also give the skill more use for multiple enemies. Also on a side note…it would look cool!

Idea 2) Flashing blade curently lacks damage and doesnt have as much utility as it seems, Yes a blind is helpful but when compared to gs blind it has no damage and seems to be equally easy to dodge. I think it should be give an extra boon to increa utility and make it more of a skill that leads into another skill. Possibilities of its changes could be a) Cripple (act as a mini snare) b) short term quickness, (guardians only way of getting this boon, would mean the skill is used to open combat for a boast of dps. c) might or fury….pretty simple can increase dps a little and just useful to have on skills. note gs 1 has might.

Idea 3) Give a slight damage boast to the 1 chain. Granted the dullest method, but is sorely needed when compared to GS. But would work better with a slight increase accompanied by one of the other changes.

I think we should get an elite summon, Like a relic that shoots out ranged attacks that bounce or provide boons. Also unlike the other summons I think it should be health related and not time. Similar to the Necro elite.

New Elite

I think there should be a new elite for gaurdian that is a summon able pet, Similar to the Necro Elite, but with a mystic weapon. Have it so it ends on death and not duration. I was thinking like a ‘holy’ relic type object that fires ranged ‘shots’ that either damage foes or give allies boons, Similar to how skill 4 works on Guardian focus.

As for the economy it wouldn’t upset it that much. Just Make the dungeon take approximately the same amount of time. It wouldn’t have much of an impact if the dungeon was balanced well. Also the whole description of the dungeon pre release was being able to play our way…which you cant if you would rather a smaller grouping

Although I do enjoy playing with groups of 5, I don’t see why dungeons couldn’t be scaled to the amount of players. I would like to play with just one or two of my friends as a more casual group. Note I mean casual not in a difficulty sense. I would be perfectly happy for the smaller groups dungeons to be harder per player to stop single players farming etc. I Just would enjoy the ability to play with a smaller group if i liked. Even if this made the dungeon harder, or was limited to fractals only.

I first noticed this quite recently on my Greatsword, Basically my damage doesn’t increase if I use whirling wrath, leap of faith, and binding blade. It does to some extent using the symbol of wrath but that is only as can attack while using it too. As for leap of faith and binding blade this isnt really an issue, I use them mainly for CC or to get blindness.
However I think of whirling wrath as the big skill for guardian GS. Much like warrior has 100 blades as a big damage dealer skill. But when I worked it out it does less damage than that of the standard chain. This maybe due to my build i have spec-ed to a 82% crit dam and a 40% crit chance. So when i hit any of my chain I am looking at 1.7k for first two and 2.3k for the end move. Whereas whirling wrath puts out roughly 5k total if that. This seems wrong to me as whirling wrath should be a skill to increase damage, yes it has mobility while attacking and attacks all around you, but you can easily have it to attack everyone with standard 1-1-1 combo.
I was wondering if anyone else had noticed this, and how you think it should be dealt with if you have.
