I found a solution to the “issue” which is in the image attached that I saw on reddit.

Just popping back to say that this was originally made for the original post the OP made two days ago. I find it amusing that it’s come back around

Dress/suit locked for each gender?

That was a question I had as well. Both my partner and myself wore pantsuits at our wedding and there was never any question of doing otherwise. With marriage equality being the law of the land where anet exists (and a few other countries as well) you would think they would assume there just MIGHT be some same sex weddings.

While I understand with the sentiment, I can’t agree with the suggestion that ANet don’t acknowledge same sex marriage. There are numerous same sex relationships in GW2 one of which consists of two very prominent characters (Marjory and Kasmeer). GW2 has more same sex relationships than just about any other game I know so I am just pleased that they as developers are doing something about it in general where other game developers shy away from it entirely.

I’m going to make a suggestion and it has nothing to do with LFG whatsoever. Purely to do with the manner with which people handle each other.

1. Meta players stop calling non-meta players casuals. It’s just very rude. Just because speed clearing isn’t my goal doesn’t make me a casual. I play the content for the content. I set deliberate limitations on myself in order to make the content hard but that doesn’t make me a casual. On the other end, non-meta players stop calling meta players elitists. Some of them are, but as has already been pointed out, there are also non-meta elitists. Stop labeling each other like this and people will be less annoyed that they’re treated rudely.

2. When someone asks for a way to make the playstyle they want to use viable, don’t just go shouting to the rooftops that it will never happen. The game was never intentionally designed so damage is the only way, if it was healing and toughness wouldn’t be stats. However as soon as someone suggests a valuable fix to healing power they get shouted down by people who don’t want it. Which is in itself people saying that their way is the only way and if you want to play another way get out.

An anti 'Meta' rant.

I’m going to agree with the overall core of the OP’s post. What I mean by that is I entirely agree that the meta zerk players should stop claiming that zerk is the only real way of playing the game. It’s just not true. There are far too many posts saying suggesting that while you CAN complete content using other builds, anything other than the meta is severely sub-optimal. And while technically they may be “sub-optimal” in that they aren’t the mathematically best way of min-maxing a character, that doesn’t mean that they’re significantly worse overall.

As the OP pointed out, new players aren’t necessarily going to have the skill required to pull of a full zerk build without dying constantly. Having a fifth of the party’s dps out for the count a lot of the time means that the group will be doing less overall damage than if the player reduced their dps in order to actually survive the dungeon. It’s fine to suggest to new players on the forums and things that the meta is optimal, but that should absolutely be prefaced with “but only if you can stay alive” which people have a habit of leaving out.

People also fail to mention that while full zerk (or whatever the meta is) is mathematically the optimal way of playing, each individual player may actually do better with a build of their own design that they know inside and out. I could make a character which uses a meta build but that doesn’t mean I’ll do it well, cause I have no intention of learning max dps rotations or might stacking. However I know my valk wearing, staff wielding mutant shatter mesmer back to front so I do better overall using it.

On the other hand though, I recognise that for some people speed-clearing and meta builds may be the way that they want to play the game. Each to their own after all. But if the people who don’t want to play your theory crafted way respect your right to do so, then you should respect our right to not. That is something I feel a lot of people are wanting, to stop getting rude responses to any post which suggests that the meta isn’t for everyone.

Do you use swiftness?

I love swiftness to move around. I hate feeling sluggish, and like acrobatic characters. Asura engie with perma-swiftness is perfect for me. My norn guardian, on the other hand, feels insufferably slow for me. The “real” movement is not that important as the “feeling” of velocity, however: Asura looks faster just because of their animations. Swiftness is there so I actually can chase of run from other players while looking fast.

I must add that I don’t tend to skip too much content, I simply like the wind in the ears.

This is exactly my feeling about it. On my humans, sylvaris and asuras I can live without it. But because of the slow, jogging animations on the norn I need to have a speed buff of some kind to feel like I’m not just going for a casual jaunt through the fields. So I have numerous characters with secondary armour sets using runes of speed for map completion.

Change the loot to make all content viable

I actually much prefer the system they are adding in HoT to just letting everything have a chance for good loot. This system doesn’t alienate those of us with terrible luck, while adding RNG just adds more opportunities for unlucky people to have bad luck. This means that doing content will always give useful loot. Particularly Giant Eyes. Those are a fantastic addition. Even if they give all content a chance to drop precursors or ascended chests that wouldn’t actually increase the chance that you get those things by much.

Generally speaking kings and queens marry for reasons of state, not for love. To tie together two warring nations is one reason for royal marriage. In this case, I would say Jennah’s best option is to marry the Khan-Ur. (Logan can be her boy toy on the side).

Lucky for everyone there isn’t a Khan-Ur at the moment? Something about a lost trinket signifying the position.

Meanwhile, I do wonder when and under what circumstances the wedding outfit shows up.
Kasjory ties the knot?
Jennah and Smodur?
Braham and Rox?
Rytlock-sempai and Rox-chan?
Lord Faren and Countess Anise?
Lord Faren and any available lady PC?

Do the other races even have weddings? Charr military life doesn’t really lend itself to ceremony after two ’bandmates take a roll in the hay. Asura are practically coated in a layer of selfishness, so any lasting partnership is probably more related to business or academia. I suppose Norn would; getting hitched to a legend is probably seen as a legendary anyway.

Well the sylvari have quite a few examples of romantic couples but not sure about weddings, Charr really not sure. Can’t think of any NPC examples there. For norn the only couple I can think of are the norn woman and the son of svanir who refer to each other as Mates rather than husband and wife but there may be some sort of ceremony to make that official. As for asura, my favourite personal story option consists of two asura who are in love. I think it’s for the college of dynamics. If you’ve not done it you should give it a shot

I usually like to chime in with these to help people feel better with 15 level 80 exotic drops since launch. That’s it. And yes I have been keeping count since it’s easy to do when the number is so low. One ascended chest and it was Rampager’s shoulder piece. Unsurprisingly none of those 15 exotic drops were precursors, in fact the highest worth one was about 5g. So I am absolutely with you on being done with RNG

The 3rd birthday of the game is really soon, and the last two years they have had big sales of previous gem store items. I’m pretty sure there will be another sale this year and some of that stuff might be in it. Can’t promise specific items cause we don’t know what they’ll resell, but I doubt they’d not do the sale this year

I don’t think they’d do this after the announcement of ascended salvaging. That seems to be the solution they’re going with to large amount of useless ascended rings rather than allowing people to change stats. And while I realise the two don’t really collide with each other and both would work, would seem like an odd addition after how big an announcement ascended salvaging was

Are all builds viable in PvE?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: BeckaPL.2670

BeckaPL.2670

Anything which gets your from A to B in PvE is viable. Which means as long as the build doesn’t make you unable to complete the content then it works. The meta is there for the people who want to be the best at that content. So I have a load of characters that aren’t meta, but I’d never take them to a speedrun of a dungeon. However sometimes they’re more fun to play and they still fundamentally work. If you’re in a group with people who don’t mind non-meta builds then go for it.

A lot of people in this thread seem to have missed some of the HoT suggestions by the devs. You can’t say there are no healers and never will be since the devs have stated that in HoT the mobs will have been designed in such a way to not REQUIRE a healer or tank, but to make them desirable in order to complete the missions. This means although there wouldn’t be a specific holy trinity idea going on there is likely to be a soft trinity. Which was in fact that idea at the start of the game. There was never not supposed to be any healers or tanks, but it was supposed to be that ANY class could play any role. But exactly this is why we have the mind-numbing DPS meta which the devs are trying to sort out with the expac

I have no problem with AR in essence, the one problem I have with it is the fact that, if you don’t use the same stats on every character you’ve got to go through the whole grind again if you want to use another character on the high level fractals. I only recently got into fractals properly and I’m basically forced to use the same character in them all the time because none of my other level 80s use the same gear and I’ve not done enough of them to have all of my characters with lots of AR. Means on a different character I still have to do low level ones, but it’s not like I don’t know what I’m doing and therefore should need to do low level ones to learn how it works.

In general though I think the concept is good and I actually rather enjoy the “yes onto the next tier!” moments when I increase my AR

who's your favorite character?

Choice of two. In terms of actual character it’s definitely Warmaster Forgal. He’s such a father figure and he’s really sweet (in a norn way) to your character.

Otherwise, my favourite character is Frostbite. As someone who always uses a lashtail on their ranger and thinks it’s adorable, Frostbite is just painfully cute. I’ve regularly stopped in the middle of the molten fractal to res him.

Return of the Gods Living Story

Normally my response to this would be that it’s not likely cause it’s based purely around the humans in Tyria, and while I do still believe this I wouldn’t totally discount it. Cause all of the living story we’ve had has been based on Sylvaris. So if they made some sort of event which was caused by the gods returning then maybe it could happen. Still think it’s unlikely but not impossible

Typing to delete is obnoxious

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

BeckaPL.2670

I’m going to have to disagree for a rather simple, albeit personal reason. I get twitches in my hand and my wrist sometimes while playing which make me miss-click all over the place and it has made me delete important things in the past. It also makes me misplace AoEs and things. So what I would suggest, since I know the typing can get frustrating, is have the typing as an accessibility option for people who need/want it.

Hall of Monuments coming back?

I was wondering if there was any news on when the hall of monuments would be working again? Otherwise does anyone know if it’s broken or if it was taken down for a specific reason?

It was clearly mentioned that the Tank-Healer-DPS Trinity had no place in this game, yet you’re talking about its absence as if it were some sort of oversight.

There’s nothing wrong about wanting to play how you want, but you’ll have to find like-minded individuals to do so.

Yes and no, they said they weren’t going to do the dedicated tank, healer and dps system, but not once did they say this meant you had to play as a zerker or you’d get nothing but abuse for it. I’m not saying bring back the holy trinity, I’m saying people should get to play support if they want to and not get kicked from parties

But you can play how you want

Yesterday I decided to kitten around, I mean pug with my necro with a condi build.

A guy in the party asked what’s a good weapon set/build for necro and I said dagger/warhon full berserkers etc. or traited axe + lifeblast mightstacking and he asked me why I was using scepter/dagger.

I told him its because I want to kitten around and run condi, didn’t get kicked though (there was a bear bow and a dual sword condi warr in the team too, the other 2 were running decent builds I guess)

TL;DR

There’s a time and place for every build. If youre touring in a premade to farm gold then by all means min-max.

If you just like to waste time and kitten around, play how you want but be sure you’re in a suitable group for it.

I suppose in that case I’ll try find a group of people who don’t mind then I just want to have fun in the game. Couldn’t care less about being as efficient as possible. So I’ll see if I can find people who just want to have fun rather than wanting to min/max everything to perfection

Why RNG-only skins are bad

BeckaPL.2670

I’m going to give my 2 cents on this topic really quickly. While I see the point of RNG I do agree with the OP and here’s why: I’ve been playing this game since launch, have a high magic find value, do dungeons, events and guild missions consistently, yet I can count the number of exotic drops I’ve had on one hand (And the number of precursors on none) . On the other hand I know someone who joined a couple of months ago and got two precursors in one day. Seems fair right?

Guild missions and Guesting

I know some of the problems with this have been fixed, but I was wondering if it’s ever going to be made so that the guild missions work normally when guesting? If I guest it’s literally impossible to do guild trek because the things you need to activate don’t show, and since the active missions don’t show in the guild panel, even if I scout for bounties I can never tell if my bounty is one of the ones that needs hunted. I really enjoy the guild missions, I think they’re amazing! But these problems take out some of the enjoyment when I can’t join in properly. And I can’t change servers because most of the people I know are on the server I’m on, plus I can’t afford to pay the server change cost. Thanks Keep up the great work!

Guild Mission Invisible While Guesting

I just tried a guild trek mission with my guild who are on another server and it wouldn’t show me the list of places I had to get to. This basically meant I just stood there while guild members announced that they got the targets and I could do absolutely nothing. Is this issue going to be fixed any time soon? It’s getting quite annoying that I can’t even properly join my guild for it even though I really wish I could. Also, no matter how many missions we do, my guild screen still shows 0. Can someone please explain the situation and if it will be sorted? Thanks
