I’m still scratching my head over that one.
Going to get some of that anywhere you don’t have queues but from the bottom, the only way is up I suppose.
I’d look at Anvil Rock, they were impressive for a small server last time I faced them.
Teehee shattercats.
Well, if I shoot you an arrow in the knee, you’ll surely not run around as fast as you normally would. Even if I “just” hit you a couple of times with a sword, or burn you with fire… are you sure you’d be able to run at top speed?
Five seconds later when I lose aggro and my HP begins to regenerate, absolutely!
You actually see them outside the wall first, then inside it, then through the other side. But that video itself is just one example of what’s becoming more and more prevalent – and it’s not the only kind of abuse the game mode is being subjected to right now. There’s also the siege griefers, and groups breaking into spawns to kill golems – even with screenshots, videos etc. sent to ANet, they just get left to continue abusing the system. All these problems would require some fixes to prevent outright, but that’s no reason to let the people who exploit them continue to do so.
There are nowhere near as many people using teleport hacks – those actually do get you banned… in theory.
Ranger is about the only class I can think of that isn’t the best at anything in particular. Does make a viable roamer though.
I probably should have put more maps in my top 3 somewhere, but I figure they’re on the way anyhow. Would like to see the Maguuma Wastes and Crystal Desert again.
The in-game function that doesn’t exist or the e-mails they don’t read?
The problem here is not fixing bugs, it’s outright ignoring people who are exploiting the game or hacking it. If they were manipulating gold that way they’d be banned by lunchtime.
Using the “proper channels” would be all fine if they actually worked. They don’t, so…
What’s more important, stopping legitimate players from talking about a growing exploiting/hacking problem, or actually solving the problem?
Merge PvE and SPvP into GW1-style districts, leave WvW for the meanwhile.
There are a lot of people out there with the ability to make and texture 3D game models, but it wouldn’t save Arenanet staff from doing some work on them. You’d have to get in-house artists to check the model for art quality, mesh and texture errors, send it back if it isn’t perfect, and after that complete the setup for use in-game.
I can only imagine how complicated armour skins would be. It’d be an interesting exercise to build one but I suspect it’d take ANet’s artists more time to work with me through building a skin than it would to just make it themselves.
Racial run speed signet for charr.
Just sayin’.
There are a couple solutions that could work – capping the amount of supply that one player can draw from a single fortification each hour, or allowing the claiming guild to prevent supply from being drawn beyond a certain threshold by non-guild members.
The second solution would require a timer on either the supply restriction or guild claiming duration though, since that could allow even worse griefing otherwise.
If they’re clones they’ll die pretty quick. That said, the only way I’ve ever been able to get a clone on top of a wall is with scepter / OH sword block. Phantasms can be done as well, but only illusionary berserker or warden. Not going to get 3 up there particularly fast, that’s for sure.
There have been thieves around lately who teleport through walls though, so that’s the other possibility. One thief using Thieves’ Guild elite. Or three thieves having a group ’sploiting session.
SEA ping to EU servers is going to be pretty bad (500-600ms+); would be careful about that one.
What about 2 thieves?
They’re either incredibly good, in which case you’ll explode you, or they’re bad and you’ll kill them.
If one of them is Venom Aura you’re dead.
I have yet to see two people play thief so abysmally bad that they both fail to take down a single target.
You’re lucky (or not). The thief class does tend to draw players so awful they’re capable of such feats.
These days it’s not thieves that tend to be hard to beat so the people who want to 1v1 decent players and win roll something else. Of course there’s still plenty of thieves out there trying to gank uplevels, but month by month they seem to get worse.
And there are still a few stealth spec thieves that are pretty much unkillable, until they run into a stealth trap. That’s why you carry them.
Why would you run a mesmer for “zerg survival”?
Translation: Screw you guys, I’m going home to T4.
- Alts as followers
I like this idea a lot. That would be one of the most awesome things to ever hit mmos in decades and a great incentive for “alting” as horizontal progression. This is horizontal progression if you think player, not character. For every alt you level you unlock a new hero, the alt himself, and you could play with them. as a full group, in instanced areas, such as dungeons, like in GW1, but those heroes would be your own alts as npcs. I could even play those instances with little or no coin/item rewards (if that’s used as a measure against botted farming, for instance). But it would be still every bit as awesome.
This is a brilliant idea. While I’m not 100% personally sold on the idea of helpers/followers in GW2 in the first place, this would be an excellent way to do it if it was done. I would love to see my main joined by even just one of my alts while out adventuring.
I too like this idea. It’s … disturbingly great, actually.
Interesting… and lets me flood the place with more charrs.
I’d suggest it as an option for story-mode dungeons.
So SBI again sits on the high-horse about YB, while it was entirely provoked by a [bags] member sabotaging us. Cute.
And btw, this is the stuff ANet closes threads over. They’re doing it because it makes too much noise over exploits. It’s very ‘toxic’. Also, this is the same stuff that ANet isn’t fixing.
This circle of blame really only has one solution, but I’m sure someone will deem it the closure of this thread.
So you send guild groups to exploit things in retaliation?
You do realise that if we could ban the tosser, we would, right?
Curious thing is that if they used GW1’s town district system for the GW2 PvE zones, it would help immensely.
Yes, but it’s a gemstore purchase most of the time. You can get a free one after 5,000 achievement points – that took me around a year of playing to get so it’s not exactly a short-term goal.
I think this is one of the biggest challenges, to create meaningful content in the existing zones which doesn’t involve / doesn’t feel grind(y).
I also think that Anet misses a lot of opportunities for content. The new healing skills… you simply unlock them for a few skillpoints. My main has more than 100 skillpoints. Why not just create 8 new npcs with small dialogues and (non grindy) tasks to unlock the ability to buy the new skill with skillpoints?
All the UI unlocks are missed opportunities imho, when not earned through interesting gameplay with a lore explanation. What if we get new weapons unlocked for our professions without any task, any explanation, any challenge? I’d be disappointed for sure.
I think GW1 had a few good missions in Factions to unlock some skills, for example, having to survive 2 minutes while using them skills.
Maybe there’s a skill that exploits a certain aspect (for example, Knockdown), and in order to learn the skill, they have to use it X amount of times.
Hmm. Different variants of weapon skills unlocked by training quests with certain race NPCs.
Actually, I like that thought quite a lot. Some quests – like those – don’t have the problem of not changing anything about the world, because they’re innately supposed to affect one character (or party).
So… bring back (some types of) quests?
I’d like to see a profession that can use a staff in melee rather than having it exist only as a stick that shoots magic.
I could see a ranger doing that.
Drop stealth traps on them and get teabagging.
YB have come in first at least once since the leagues ended so I’m not really following what the moaning is about?
Maybe they can think about adjusting it when condition tanks aren’t the solution to everything else.
Or maybe condition necros should invest in some power?
With the exception of hybrid professions that does look good, indeed. And hybrids is just a case of not knowing what sort of implementation he has in mind – I think ability to change weapon skills 1-5, new weapons and new utility skills would do the job well enough without throwing hybrids in as well, but there’s no reason it couldn’t work.
Top 3 for me:
1. Weapon skill choice (I like skill quests as an idea, but the choice is more important to me than how they’re acquired)
2. Home instance customisation and personal hub for sidequests
3. Charr armour… yeah, it’s kind of tricky finding a set that doesn’t look a bit silly on one
Most of the time I just stack AoE conditions on them immediately after they disappear and wait for that red down arrow to reappear from stealth. Thieves don’t have a great time of it lately because they don’t handle condition bunkers well.
That last bit sounds quite useful. A lot of the time you can get by on a handful of pre-allocated stats so it means less worry for re-traiting even before acquiring optimal equipment.
- The skill system is generally very restrictive, with few weapons per profession, very few utility slots tied to high cooldowns, and an elite skill system that isn’t acchieving the epic feel it was meant to acchieve.
There are some good ideas here which I would like to see us discussing as a group.
What do you all think about these ideas?
Chris
Short suggestion on this one… been mentioned before but it might help with builds.
Try a selection of different skills/chains for each weapon slot. For example, a torch on any particular class only ever allows two specific skills – if you had 3 to choose from in the 4 slot, and 3 to choose from in the 5 slot, you’d get a lot more versatility in some classes. (Personally I’ve always wished the mesmer had an attack available on the off-hand sword – feels a bit silly to only use it for a block.)
This could make the elementalist a bit of a GW1-style balance nightmare though – based on three selections for each slot you would get 60 different skills/chains for a staff alone. :o
As far as my view of character progression in general – I wouldn’t normally find GW2’s setup too arduous but there’s a few things about the way I play that make it horrendous. Firstly, I’m mainly a WvW player. Switching builds means collecting a new set of gear each time, and working towards ascended is just not feasible – haven’t ever had one drop, and the cost involved in even one set means I probably won’t be done putting it together before I switch builds.
Worse, I have 15 alts.
I’m sorry someone you didn’t know and therefore came from SBI had to listen to Maguuma comms. It must have been traumatic. If they’re not already dead, I urge you to put them out of their misery.
KUDOS to the SBI spy in our Comms. sad you need a spy to get ahead, but im in no position to stop you
get lost loser, and have a nice day!
^.^
[Olaf] portal bags are the best!
So you come here to QQ about it? Get a moderator to ban them like everyone else does.
Not as if spying on Maguuma is going to be any help either.
And you guys sure are very good at bring that 80 man blob into a single keep.
Oh btw, both keeps in your bl are paper.
Both?
Did you knock the other one down to make way for apartments?
Historically Yak’s bend would roll over and give up when pushed on during the week, but it looks like SBI has taken over that title
Don’t jinx it.
Don’t be ridiculous. No-one is ever going to ally with Maguuma, least of all YB.
Exploiting the citadel is illegal, getting “double-teamed” because you’re too busy bashing your heads against Maguuma on EB while you ignore your borderland is your own fault.
…you’re on Maguuma. Well, never mind then.

A better comparison would be a human and a gibbon.
Do people really want every single character of every single race to look exactly the same?
No. Just the same species would be nice.
I’ve heard there are issues with some maps that had waypoints added, including Plains of Ashford, Straits of Devastation, and Brisban Wildlands – I’m holding off on completing these on any more characters for now. When is it going to be safe to finish them?
Can’t say anyone who’s ever waved at me has tried to attack.
In a zerg maybe, but thief is a very powerful class everywhere else in WvW, whether you’re good or not. Engineer or ele would be the ones to pick for AoE damage in large group combat.
Why is your character suddenly promoted from Legionnaire to Centurion?
in Charr

I had no issues with the gladium sire storyline… but then, I chose to execute him. Making a decision that makes sense to a charr just happened to lead to a part of the story that makes sense for the charr.
