Benjamin, is the floor drop phase supposed to happen at random? On Reddit, it was said that it should always trigger when the boss is 40%, however sometimes it doesn’t happen at all or happens when the boss is 30% or even less than 10% – I saw a YouTube video today showing 100 Challenge mode where the phase started on 2%.

Also, it might be just my bad memory, but I think yesterday, during the phase the floor drops, the Anomaly spawned where there was no platform to stand on.

It is supposed to always happen at 40%, this is a bug. We will be rolling out a fix for that along with some other bugs.

Watch the circles under your feet to see the timing, and just dodge in to the boss. You will avoid all damage.

I’ve done this but I still get 5 stacks of burn, is that intended?

That is intended, however currently it does not scale. The proper way to deal with it is a condi cleanse, resistance, or healing. We will be adding better scaling soon.

This is a bug. I have been able to reproduce this internally, but I’m still not quite sure what is going on. At 75%, 50%, and 25% his script asks him to re-teleport to the middle, presumably as a safeguard in case he somehow got moved away. However… for some reason, at 50% he gets teleported to the corner of the platform, almost every time. When he hits 25%, he teleports back. The script handlers for 75%, 50%, and 25% are almost identical, so I suspect code shenanigans… I’m going to have to debug this more thoroughly before I can figure out what is really going on.

I could probably easily fix this by removing the safety teleport but this seems like it could be causing problems game wide so I need to figure out what changed.

Surely easy and hard would depend on the tier and not the fractal itself?

It depends on both. Fractals vary in difficulty based on scale and content. Some fractals, for instance uncategorized, are designed to just be easier. In general, we try to insert new fractals in the scale list in a place indicative of their difficulty, which is why cosmic is the new 100. That means that we intend it to be the most challenging. Fractals are not properly arranged by difficulty though in many cases, particularly with older fractals.

uhm hard is ok, but i think all attacks should be evadable like the first boss of Shattered Observatory Does this AR puddle thingy and a AR shockwave right after, Which hurts a lot! I don’t think you could evade it or block it >.<

The proper way to deal with the large clones that cast chain lightning is to break them and focus them down right when they spawn, then drag the melee adds over to cleave on the boss. The chain lightning clones don’t have a lot of health and can be killed pretty much instantly if 4 players focus them. If you are taking lots of damage from them, it is because your party isn’t managing them effectively, or your party is failing the marble. It is imperative that you don’t fail the marble. A safe strategy is to assign two people to the marble so that if one gets Corporeal Reassignment (Skull bomb), the other can continue the path.

We also have some bug fixes incoming that should help alleviate some pain points at the higher tiers as well.

Does that include making the floor fall at 15% or 40%? I know it’s been said that it is supposed to be 40%, but that it a Long time to be dodging the floor with anomalies showing up and having the floor possibly disappear from under them.

Cameron would like for it to stay at 40% as that was the original intent. With some of the other bug fixes it should hopefully be less frustrating, but we will continue to monitor feedback for this.

It should be set up such that anomalies can never spawn in a place where the floors are gone all around it. There should always be at least 1 available floor adjacent to the anomaly to stand on. If this is not the case, please let us know.

All the feedback from all the posts on the forums here has been incredibly informative, and we are watching closely to see how people feel as they get more confident with the mechanics.

That said, we have also come to the conclusion that the tier scaling is a bit off for boss 3. It is too difficult at tier one. We are rolling out some balance tweaks in the next patch that will ease the difficulty curve so that lower tiers are more introductory. We also have some bug fixes incoming that should help alleviate some pain points at the higher tiers as well.

See, what had happened was, I made a change to improve the avenger AI so they wouldn’t stomp the wrong people or screw over mesmers, and it was working great! But some merge conflict or someone (maybe me) fat fingering a delete key caused a bug that made the AI always think no players were in range. The fix is going out with the next patch. My bad.

Blinds and blocks are very useful when enemies are enraging, but yeah those numbers are too high :P We avoid doing significant balance changes without a proper rework to go with it.

I don’t subscribe to the thought that something needs to be complex to be challenging. It’s the lazy way of design.

We don’t subscribe to that notion either. I do believe however that it is acceptable for some fractals to be more complex than others, especially ones that are part of an important arc. It is also true that a more complex challenge is not necessarily a lazy design. What is most important to us is that each fractal provides a unique and interesting challenge, and we have to be aware that not every challenge will appeal to every player.

I don’t mind the hammer but I think improving its skills would be a nice. For example, the #3 skill (The projectile reflect) isn’t that useful since most of the Fanatics are melee or use non-projectile ranged attacks. Maybe we could get some version of a few Archdiviner skills. (Like the cone-shaped slam or the cone-shaped pull)

This is a neat idea.

Most annoying fractal imo. If they put the hammer on your PvE skill slot it would actually be ok, but I just hate carrying it all the time.

Having the hammer be on your special action key slot would be spectacular. They could have it charge (activate the action key) when you are near something that dies. Ben, please do this!

How would you drop the hammer if it was no longer a bundle? Making it a SAS seems like it would nullify the hot potato mechanic.

Yeah sorry that you have to deal with the ping issues As others have said, all you can really do is try to anticipate where the orbs are going to be and put yourself 300ms ahead in time, since the server position is going to be 300ms behind.

I thought there was some lag compensation thing that adjust for at least some of that? There was a blog post about it a while back.

Unfortunately in this particular case it isn’t much help, because of the way missiles work in our game.

It is worth noting that the daily recommended chests also give large mist potions, which when exchanged at the potion vendor can give a nice relic boost per day if you are saving relics for rewards such as the infinite potions, or can be used for things such as the nightmare Nightmare fractal challenge mode.

We did at one point explore the possibility of account bound AR, but in the end decided on simplifying the agony system (back when we simplified infusions) rather than doing a huge system change.

A larger system change would have taken many resources away from actually building content, and would have caused other problems. Like.. what happens to agony infusions? All those infusions on the market suddenly either become worthless, or need some other reason to be consumed. Additionally, what would the effect be on ascended gear? Would you need ascended gear still? What happens to demand?

Ideally we would have designed the system as account bound in the first place, but that is not the reality we live in.

Unfortunately, at this point I do not see a switch to account bound AR any time in our future

Ashym doesn’t really move a whole lot other than when he uses the fiery greatsword whirl. Other than that he has AI just like any other mob so he aggros on people and moves towards them.

I have reproduced this internally and I see the issue. And yes, it’s all my fault…

The fix should be included in the next patch. Unfortunately as I missed our hotfix deadlines, that could be a while ;_;

Until then, you do not have to reset the entire instance to fix this.

The bug occurs when the game destroys the wisp that you are holding, which happens on the event failure. If you drop the wisp, you are not affected. When the event fails, each player who had a wisp destroyed can log out, and log back in, and then they should be able to pick up wisps again.

I am very sorry for this inconvenience. I can see this making swampland runs quite tedious if you are wiping :c send me your hate mail and I will open it with shame.

This sounds really frustrating, and I would like to fix it ASAP. Thank you for bringing it to my attention! Can you give me a bit more information about this? Which orbs specifically? Are you talking about the ones at the beginning, or the ones at bloomhunger? Also, do the orbs appear active? i.e. are they glowing green? Or are they just never activating in the first place?

Were they active at one point but after a wipe they never reactivated? Or were they never working in the first place? If you can reproduce it consistently with steps that is the best thing to help me fix this.
