and I think a bonus should be given to players who win a fight vs superior odds.
in warhammer we used to run and hide when outnumbered. then they introduced a system that gave us more points for fighting against superior odds and as an underdog.
so lastnight I won a 2vs3 fight, i would have liked more than just 30pts for it =/
id like a 15 vs 15 deathmatch. especially for us pubsters who just want to run out and beat on people for a few hours after school/work

I cant tell you how many times I am at a node and someone runs up, sees me and runs away. or me and a team mate will walk up, see 2 other enemy and my team mate runs.
how many times have you been in a game and you take base A and the enemy takes base C, most people just go the back way to base A from C and its a constant swapping of bases with no combat.
its a pvp game, lets encourage MORE pvp.

I come from NWN UO DAoC and WARHAMMER. nothing but a pvp background. the ONLY stat that ever matters is me killing you and me not dying. any zerg scrub can dive bomb in and kill someone and die… pop quickness charge adn hundred bladez… then die after getting your kill.
you can be jerome bettis and be bad for a very long time and compile a boat load of lifetime yards and lifetime touchdowns. but everyone knows Barry sanders was the best, he had the most yards per game and most yards per run. dont be jerome.. be barry.

I play my gun warrior with 15% of my playing time, and get INSANE amounts of kills with him compared to my ele and I prety much only use 2 buttons and wait for quickness cooldown.
why do people always give comments on how to spec and play pve better? i think anyone can figue otu the pve part.. its the PVP that required input

the more powerful the more peopel play it. go into any pub game and mark down the classes you see over the next hour as 2handed mezmer and dagger thief appear all over and over again.

the BIG 2handed skill with a cooldown (mighty blow) hits for 2k, but the hartseeker which is spammed off a 1handed weapon 5 times.. hit for an average of 3.8k

Its funny because over on the guardian forums we are all asking “how do you kill a thief and mezmer” and the response is “currently defense and healing dont scale as well as damage and crit” which i tend to agree with.

STEAL THE BUFFS and use poision to stop the healing and conditions to wear down the guardian. Works with the necro……………

Which is funny because warhammer online solves their stealth problem the same way, they made your combat resource drain while you were in stealth.
but right now I dont know any thieves who put 20+ points in the healing+vitality tree, yet i know many warriors, and rangers who do, and EVERY guardian Engi, Ele and necro does. when you can exit combat you dont have to worry about taking damage.
and if it crit for 8k you were probably below 25% hp in which case cry me a freaking river its a execute ability its supposed to hit hard at that point.
I don’t think anyone would complain about a finisher doing a decent amount of damage. It’s not really a finisher though when you can just keep clicking it until someone is dead. The way it works now even if a person is at say 40% life it still doesn’t hurt to start spamming it because you will stay auto locked on target and eventually they will be at 25% and dead. That’s not a finisher that’s like a “special” move you can always use.
Lets compare that to say a warriors “eviscerate” which works very similarly to HS. Eviscerate requires adrenaline which you have to build up. It has a 10 second cooldown so even if you had unlimited adrenaline you couldn’t spam it. It acts as a gap closer which makes it extremely valuable. Basically you want to set it up vs just being able to spam it until it lands because if you miss you won’t be able to use it again for a bit.
Do you see the difference?

As an elementalist my POWER MOVE is dragon tooth. its a power aoe damaeg + dot and can crit for 4k , but its on a 10 sec cooldown as well.
yes Im all for getting out of the capture point system as well. as someoen who plays pug spvp, most games turn into AVOIDING combat. i have people litterally walk up to a point, see me and turn the other way, on my ELE!!
most games are won by the team that avoids combat and just caps empty bases.

ya the fact that it is a teleporting, tracking high damage ability + gap closer is what makes it a 1 button wonder. you dont really need to aim and hit your target. other melee have to rely on geting in range and missing . hs tracks and still deals high damage which is why EVERYONE plays a hs spamming thief.
if you get in trouble as a thief and panic, you can press HS multiple times and roll the dice for crits. no other class can you really PANIC and press 1 button without aiming.
and its a LEAP finisher that can be spamed, thus giving MORE stealth to a class that already has too much.
Im all for raising the damage on hartseeker, adding a cooldown.
but you dont get any damage defense or healing from any of the meditations.
2 deal damage and 1 removes boons and turns them into buffs.
most of my deaths come from thieves bursting me down, warriors bursting me down or rangers shooting me 75 times with crossfire. conditions usually are not a HUGE problem. a problem, but not usually where most of my deaths come from.
so does meditation mastery heal for THAT much? that I can use it to bunker 2 burst people for more than 20 sec?

then they came to warhammer and saw the shadow warrior and all of the sudden lost interest.
“I played a thief in dungeons and dragons and played a rogue in wow.. i always play stealthers” but then when they played the witchhunter they suddenly lost intrest in playing a stealther.
everyone claims to hate playing a healer, yet when the best damage class in warhammer turned out to be the healer, EVERYONE rolled one.
Street fighter, everyone claimed to be a HUGE Ibuki fan. so they brought her back. but the only reason people were ibuki fans is because she was a top tier class in the previous version. so when they brought her back, she was not as powerful and thus nobody played her.
I see very few elementalist. I see more of late, and they are all dagger dagger changing stances as fast as they can and spamming buttons in mindless directions…….. obviously copycat syndrome. other than that? still all warriors with hundred baldes and shield, dagger thief, shortbow rangers and a zilloion greatsword mezmers.
my favorite is getting people to chase me (which always happens since half of you came from WoW) and then using lightning flash to jump up to the rafters on Khylo and then ride the lightning while jumping off the other side. so I can pretty much go from 1 courtyard in front of the treb, over to the other starting base with 2 cooldowns!
and pug pvp….. which the other 80% of the game is playing…
Damage is king. weather it be dps, condition or burst. all 3 rule.
the meta has never changed for pug pvp. it started out with dagger thieves and 2handed mezmers and 2handed warriors and is now…. dagger thieves, 2hmezmers and shortbow rangers.
I pug spvp with 99% of my playtime. and have yet to meet a thief that I can redily take 1v1 nor a mezmer.
oh and if you wanna kill my bunker guardian or bunker elementalist… bring a necro. condition damage and boon removal eat us alive.

I know we got rolled daily by the torid and echoic crew but kitten if we didnt outscore the rest of the US servers.
I click, I clicked then , I click now.
you get to your buttons faster than I do by pressing the buttons and mouse turning by a half sec, I pick my targets FOUR TO FIVE sec quicker by clicking on my target with my mouse.
in daoc the most important part of the fight was head to head on incomming picking out your targets.
I cant TAB past the 15 mezmer clones, the roots that the million fotm hutnters drop, and the thief posse thats always up from one of the many fotm thieves …. to get to the target i HAVE TO kill.
the whole CLICKER vs mouse turner thing was way overblown in WoW forums. kinda like the whole “ZOMG YOU WEAR BRIEFS? you must only wear boxers” thing got overblown in the late 90’s. now look, 10 years later we are all wearing boxer briefs.

there is no way to beat a mezmer other than having lots of bursty aoe and high single damage dot
when I have stacks of might up ankittenep leaping after him with 2h hammer and activage the dot on him is the only time i get a kill on a mezmer. but 70% of the time this dosent happen .
you will NOT beat a good mezmer or a good thief. they will just exit the fight then come back once they have their cooldowns and destroy you.

On my ele, stack boon duration and that helps me stay alive longer, should I give up the toughness vital and condition removal of the soldiers runes in favor of stacking earth and water runes for longer regen and longer protection duration?

Marksman Hey lets give a ranged class the ability to aoe life leach+ heal debuff … thus making a perma heal debuff on everyone and turning the rogue IMMORTAL because they leach 40% of alll healing of everyone in the scenario

the largest crit i have ever had on this ability was 3k
you would think an ability THAT SLOW , would have a risk vs reward
the problem is backstab can be done twice in a fight and hit upwards of 14k. AND THEN you can disappear after doing it.
i cant think of any game thats had stealth that let you normally remove yourself from combat with stealth and let you redo your backstab attacks.
can you imagine if you were allowed to do this nonsense in D&D?
think about how many times we have seen a thief kill you with 4 hartseekers or just unload on you with pistol shots til you are down…. did they use STEAL, their class mechanic?

i am all in favor of “anti moron” buttons being THE MOST powerful moves in the game.
In warhammer we had an ability that did 300 damage for 2 sec. dosent sound powerful in a game where people had 4k life right? the tool tip said if the charachter MOVES, then every step they take refreshes the timer. so people would get hit by “grok sez stop” and die because they would never stop moving. wanna know who hated it the most? all the wow kids who rerolled as “rogues” and “rangers” who played by bunny hopping all over the place…. those kids took lots of damage and died from 1 spell.
Rift we had a spell. “deals 200 damage” over 10 sec.
not very powerful eh in a game where people had 8k hp eh?

every time the target was healed, it REFRESHED the duration, AND casted another stack. I could put it on a healer type and they would litterally walk around for 2 minutes with 20 stacks on trying to OUT HEAL IT!!!
im not in favor of abilities that kill quicker than you can react, which is why I am down on rogue types who can attack from stealth, kill quickly and then get away. this is why the only rogue class i approved of was from DAOC, where stealthers had to COMBO… no not combo points where you spam 1 button then a finisher.. no in daoc they had to combo from stealth. a chain of 6 attacks from the front (high + a large dot) which would kill anything other than a Tank or High HP healer or 4 from the back (low damage and a stun) if you died, you still had a CHANCE for someone to save you while the combo was going on., and when you died you at least knew he had to work for it.
so im more in favor of removing or putting a LOOONG cooldown on backstab and steal and cloak and dagger than I am of nerfing retalliation. I actually want to BUFF reactive moves and nerf active ones.

I played a defensive healing non retal guardian since launch (OBVIOUSLY YOU CAN TELL BY THE NAME)
one day I decided to learn about combos and that I can give aoe retalliation WHILE DOING AN AOE ATTACK. I could litterally go onto a point and kill 3 rogues at once within SECONDS
them doing aoe attcks and hitting many targets and me hitting them with a 2handed sword
but
then i thought about it, and it only is powerful against classes that can spam small attacks, which is ranger and thief and hundred blades warriors. the rest of the game is uneffected
my ele could care less about retal. and my necro LOLz at it then turns it into a condition.
but
the majority of the game PLAYS the 3 specs and classes that retal does the best against, and the LEAST played classes are the ones that do the best against retalliation.
so I agree and disagree. perhaps you should try another class and see if retalliation is REALLY a problem. havent heard many people complain about those retalliation necros.

i cant stand the pve leveling and am only level 9.

I can make a video of a melee engenieer and if you have signifigantly better gear than the other 3 people you are fighting … like in WvW then you can trounce them. isnt that WHY we all ran away from games that had gear based pvp?
I can only imagine what a game like wow would have been like 5 years later, when I left 1 person with just half raid weapons who never did any pvp, could come in a battleground and mop up all 5 of me and my friends who did nothing but pvp.

I laughed as my guardian squished every ele i came across and someone called me op and fotm. so I changed mains now i play my ele pretty much with 70% of my playtime.

Thieves are currently Akuma
Mezmers are Ryu.. hell mezmers are EVIL RYU (creaters just had too many tricks they threw into ONE bag and no real way to tone it down with both)
Engenieers are HAKAN largely low in power but can be annoying if you have to go to them.
shield+ 2hsword signet quickness warriors are like sagat (1 overpowered trick but outside of that, just average but use the trick to win any fight)

but i must say i really DO enjoy the 15 stacks of might I get by using my blast finishers from switching from fire to earth. and then the fury i get by switching to air and putting on ice aura. so i wind up putting my damage out in air…

umm ima call bull on a bunch of you dudes. i highly dobut your using evasive arcana to set off TWICE blast finishers.
if you cast ring of fire or lava font it centers ON your current spot… so if you use dodge roll you will land OUTSIDE of your aoe and thus not set off the blast finisher
you have to actually walk forward and dodge BACK.
I have yet to cast the ring , set off earthquake, churning earth,blastwave, then walk forward and dodge roll back in time to set off the 4th blast finisher.
ring of fire is only 6 sec guys, and evasive arcana has a cooldown of 10.
do i have to start posting VIDEOS again to prove people wrong? cuz I did that the last game and people still troll me 5 years later.

its ALWAYS had a 10 sec cooldowns.
so here is the plan of action, copy and past it to get it down.
switch to air for your first 3 stacks, then to fire for another, then ring of fire/fire trail/lava font, then switch to earth (hey look its 10 sec already!) get another stack, then use 2 or 3 blast finishers….

i pretty much had to sit down for an entire day and try to play FASTER. not BETTER… not SMARTER.. just press more keys and do it faster. no laying back in my chair… no no.. sitting up in my chair clicking fast and i actually work up a sweat playing like that.
then I go back to playing my gun warrior and press 3 buttons, vulnerability, stack bleeds, use channeled, then back to stacking bleeds. and i get more kills with half the effort……..
and think about it… gun warrior isnt even called a POWERFUL or good spec. yet its STILL better for less effort than my ele.
same.. rolled a mezmer and was amazed.
sarted guard for pve, rolled ele and necro for pvp… and thought “perhaps i just am bad” then deleted my engi and rolled a mezmer and im like.. WOW REALLY???!
how would you get 1000 life per 2 sec if you can only attack once per sec?
or is something broken where you can ultra mash the button and get life each time u spam it?
if so… fix that.
other question is, how are you guys keeping auras up for so long, are you just using the standars TWO or are you using some kind of combo field to put them up, (If so how )
I will try this out tonight, but I have actually been playing BETTER this weekend. I just sat down for 12 hours on saturday and 7 hours lastnight and just tried to play FASTER and better. I hardly call the secpter dagger combo, with toughness VItal runes build I run with now effective at keeping me alive as people claim.

Roll a thief with full dps build. Join tournaments against good(!) players. Make a full length video, where you show:
1. you survive most (if not all) fights where you choose to attack
2. you survive most (if not all) fights where you were attacked by another player or a group of enemies
3. you kill every enemy regardless of class and build in (what was it again?) 2sYou are talking about that here, aren’t you? So show us, please! If you can’t —> stop trolling, please.
50%+ of what you see in sPvP comes from the player and some moment of luck. If a thief is out of initiative, he’s 50% Moa’d already. The other 50% are a pathetic heal, 2-3 dodge rolls and auto-attack. Maybe a stealth ability on 48s CD. Think of it.

internet back then you had to pay PER MINUTE and I remember getting grounded after running up a $200 phone bill (back then you had to use the phone line to log on to the internet) $200 back then we about half what you would pay for rent of a 1 bedroom apt. so today that would be like you running up a $800 bill in a month playing video games on the internet

In sPvP I generally have around 20k, but that’s just for surviving against two “100 blades”-Warriors in 8v8.
