We’re just starting work on a number of bigger systems/features for PvP, and as is our policy until they are far enough along that we won’t throw them out or change them massively we won’t talk about them quite yet. We’re working down a list of big stuff though, and there are more folks working on PvP related projects right now than ever.
And as a reminder, things we’ve already said we’re working on currently that are far enough along for us to discuss are:
- Fixing rewards and progression in PvP to make the game type much more rewarding.
- Investigating new game types for PvP.
- Improving the game and experience for the core base in general to make it more fun for more casual or casual-competitive gamers to play PvP.
- Improving and continuing to support and grow the competitive scene.In January, things should hopefully be nailed down enough we should be able to go into much greater detail on the other systems and features we’re working on right now on top of the stuff listed above.
I remember one of the Red names (devs) mentioning templates, is there any information about that?

Still, this is rly not too hard to do.

Play the easiest and most op build as dirty and dishonorable as possible.
I can remember arenanet promising in some kind of interview that every skin we see in the game will be avaliable for players.
Now the single most sexy-mesmerising-stylish-hot-glamourus armor in the game is not.
Just replace them fugly light ascended stuff with them or make it gemstore stuff or whatever, but gimme anises armor

I´m not talking about balancing a single build, but the profession. And I don´t intend to groundnerf all of it but SLIGHTLY reduce the numbers involved.
The adrenalin thing however:
Thief SHOULD loose stealth when he fails his attack.
Mesmer does loose his clones when they fail to hit.
Ranger F1 goes on CD when it fails.
Warriors not loosing that adrenaline doesn´t make sense because dodging warrior F1 is basically useless.
Yes. I have fun, and I don’t think balance is nearly as bad as low-rated players seem to think it is.

Alone they are junk. United they used to be good, now they are still bad, but that is due to bad balancing work on arenanets side.

All of this has to be done VERE CAUTIOUSLY so warrior does not end where ele is now.
Its a tone of changes, but I think having a large number of smaller nerfs is better then hammering a playstyle enitrely.

Staff ele will remain junk as long retaliation is less accessible by guardians.
Meteor shower into petting zoo=epic oh kitten moment of death.
Tried it in tPvP once. Zerker staff. Was epic first 5 mins, good aoe placement had epic effects.
Then they got the trick, and whenever they saw a red circle of mine in a teamfight htey all ran in there and the guard set up retaliation. Then they /danced and watched me helplessly die from 2-4k damage per second from my own aoes….
Well, they found a way to move us away from water by making us weaker. Speccing in to water was only useful when you were able to get out of trouble for 2 seconds to get them heals of.
Fix: Nerf mobility to the ground and remove stunbreakers so healing is not so accessible anymore and speccing for it becomes useless.
Now ppl spec for air instead of water, they even use earth for them extra 10% damage!!!
Isn´t that GREAT? People even use focus now.
They fixed it by destroying an allready sub-par professions disengage and survivability, so the only option is going all in and trying to face mash stuff before it gets an auto of, because that auto will prolly kill you (engi 1 with sigills and traits → 2 bleeds, burning, poison → half health if you don´t pop heal to cleanse it all).
They basically shifted fixed what they said theyd fix by making the class so bad the problematic options are no longer viable.
GG anet, lookin forward to next ele nerfs and double warrior mace stun duration!

There is no future.
Remove toughness from condition damage amulets.
Revert weakness buff.
Increase cooldowns to most condition skills while improving condition duration. So cleansing is actually worth it.
Toughness on condi amulets is such a stupid idea…
The concept behind it is that it counter power, so power ammys get vitality, but here is the problem: vitality doesn´t really counter conditions. As you can still only heal the same amount of health and get the same amount of damage.
Weakness is just stupid.
Burst is hard to set up on most specs. You should have to react to it and not just maintain one silly condition to anhilate it.
Also, remove every RNG based condition application except for mesmer stuff. (mesmer RNG referes to random condition on hit, which means every hit gives a condition, but you can´t tell which it will be.)
True, they needed some nerf. But what anet has done to eles is stupid. And an un-nerfed ele would soon be considered balanced with the current powercreep.
Ele was nerfed under average and ignored in the powercreep, actually ele descended further.
We don´t need old ele meta, we need the other kitten to be toned down to reason.

Nice list, but seriously.
Bunker guard is rather easy.
DPS guard has ridiculous survivability, while remaining insane damage, not in teamfights but you know what I mean.
Burst/CCengi is an argument!
3-kit is really not that hard.
Point control is not viable in such a CC + condition heavy metagame… Sad
Bunker engineer. Nice! But lacks teamsupport to replace a guardian.
Mesmer builds: Either cheesy+only 1o1 viable or not viable at all, might be possible to build a good build here tho, but those out there… not really…

Non-Staff nec: Only thing I can think of is critmancer. DS1 crits for 4k with 90% chance on soldier ammy. Lulz. WTB 100% crit chance when in air grandmaster, thanks.

And yes, removing condition totally is an insane idea, but short duration short cd condis are worse. The problem is not the duration of the condis but their reapplyability. If I cleanse the entire necro condi burst I´l have most of it back on me in no time.
Duration doesn´t matter. I say same/longer duration, WAY longer cooldowns. Make conditions a strategic force, not a spam away kind of thing.
Warrior needs a nerf, and a kittene. Everyone who says something else is kittened all over. And necro, thief and MAYBE bunker guard need downtuning as well.
In fact I´d say everything needs to be put down UNDER current ele state, and ele needs to be nerfed to be even with that. Using ele as an reference cus its undiscussably bottom line.
But this isn´t mainly about nerfing classes, but playstyles.
Why is someone who has 10% of the skill I have more efficient because he uses a braindead build.
My build is bad?
Tell me a non-braindead build for any profession which is tPvP viable.
To me even shatter mesmer is too shallow, but whats dominating now turn casual friendly in to skill unfriendly.
Also: Stop playing warrior. You will get worse at the game.
Buffs=Power creep, and a stronger staff auto heal and conjour improvements are not rly a buff, its some PR gag ala"look, we help u, but we still want u to eat dirt to noob facerollers who pay gemstore stuff"

You disagree with warrior stunspam, conditionspam and infinite evasion are broken? My suggestions may seem over the top/stupid, but the issues are just facts.
Seems like elementalists have basically died out from soloque, hotjoin and tpvp. Save the occasional r1 staff ele who will ragequit 10 minutes after creating his toon.

If your build needs skill to play, its useless.
And cmon go tell me spirit ranger, stunlockimbaregenwarriors and condition enigneer/necromancer take skill.

Now, in case there are people who don´t know what cheese is referring to here, a cheese/cheesy spec is a build which requires no knowledge of game mechanics, no skill and is highly effective.
In my opinion such builds need to be purged.
How can it be that:
A engineer spamming his autoattack and occasionally 2-5 is more efficient then an mesmer or elementalist who needs to time his damage, has high cooldowns and puts him self at great risk while going offensive?
A warrior can just chainstun his target to death while outregenerating most offensive builds damage?
A thief can be basically invulnerable for 80% of his fights while being able to disengage with the press of a single button at any time and putting out more damage then again, a elementalist or mesmer who must invest to get this damage out. People say you have to time the damage between the dodges. That might work. But why doesn´t the thief have to time anything? Why can he achieve more with less effort?
Can anybody explain to me where the logic is?
Now my suggestion:
1. Either dump conditions all the way, they are way too easy to use and too axcessible, or at least remove the random procs.
2. Don´t allow condition damage based amulets to have toughness on them. Weakness alone hardcounters any sort of offensive gameplay. Power should be a counter to conditions and vice versa.
3. Halve all the warrior stun durations. May sound extreme, but then they would actually need to be set up and timed correctly. That or remove ALL mobility from warriors having access to ANY sort of CC.
4. Remove vigour or halve its effects. It makes many traits obsolete due to the endurance regeneration cap and allows massive random evade spamming without penalty.
5. Remove the thief endurance regain on dodge trait. Its kittened.
6. Remove thief sword dagger 2 and 3, or remove 2 and cut down the damage of 3 by 50%. Again, sounds extreme, but thats just fair with the amount of survivability this set gives.
And if anyone says elementalist is fine:
If you are not an ele: Make one, slap on zerker ammy and scepter dagger and try to be useful. The infamous 100->0 combo will break your neck 90% of cases, if you get to use it. So it is not an argument.
If you are an ele, make a warrior and go for the meta stun spec with healing sig. Feel the difference?

Ilona Frostfire – Lockdown and interrupt mesmer since BWE1!
Mantras are awesome.
My Idea: Let them cool down while charged, so if you have your distraction up early you can instantly recharge it, but later in longer fights it cant fully recover.
Some CDs would need adjustment here, but having background CDs would give some nice depth and would add a lot of planning to mantra mesmer.

Role: Instructor (Mesmer since beta, I know how the profession works and am able to explain most of it. Not so much of an manager mind tho)
Fallen in love with mesmer 1st BWE. Been playing mesmer as main ever since, sharing its spot with ele. I love experimental stuff and high risk / high reward playstyle.
It would be a pleasure for me to be part of an active mesmer community, to teach, to learn and to have a kittenload of fun!

Elite: Panic
Glamour, the size of timewarp.
Every enemy in this area who successfully completes a skill dazes all other enemies in the radius for 1/4 (or less if possible) seconds.
Because condition was buffed significantly WHILE bunkers and burst were nerfed.
We all know the meta is kitten ever since arenanet started counter buffing+nerfing viable specs.
But saying it sucks doesn´t help arenanet fix it.
If they don´t… it will most likely be glasscannon or balanced meta until december, so then I will be able to play ele and mesmer again with out being insulted for the profession I´m good at (before the game even started…)
All of the people mentioned had ember reroll to SD thief.
I use interrupts either for random might stacking or for heals and stomps or rezzes.
Ele got more nerfs and less buffs then thief btw

Celestial staff ele op if the team is PERFECTLY organized. Dem combofields, and bleeds upto 120…. While autoattack crits good enough.
But at the skill level represented in this game atm its UP. But the theorycraftable power it has makes buffing dangerous.

Necro LN Dhuumfire They are ok in tpvp, you can burst them and they are susceptible to CC. Maybe get rid of the toughness on condi amulets. Power is supposed to counter condi and vice versa. Now its just condi killing power.
Engi
T3
Elementalist MB Reduce a few cooldowns, maybe higher base health. Will be ok if S/D thiefs and condi kitten gets balanced.
Mesmer Freekill atm, but only due to the meta. Will be ok if S/D thiefs and condi kitten gets balanced.
Never said its a higher reason.
Its a pattern, a cycle of death coming from the dhuumfire patch.
What I did was I analyzed this pattern and explained how it SHOULD be.
