Since the newest patch I am unable to play due to my client, after leaving the launcher, turning my screen black. Just be4 character selection. You cant ALT+TAB out, only way to get away is using the task manager, where the gw2 entry is labled “untitled” and “not responding”
Ok, some beta graphics-driver build fixed it.

Rerroll, elementalist was overnerfed on the bunker side. But his burst is unmatched. Just reduce condition spam a little and ele will be top notch again.
And even with the condi spam. Im learning to duel condition professions right now with my glass ele. I frequently beat them. Tho I need to be a lot better then them skillwise it is possible. If it cheers you up I can put up some YT video of me instagibbing some rangers/thiefs/necros :PPlease do! Current videos and tPvP Play Only. Its easy to smack around the Hotjoiners.

Edit: No sane thief is playing burst anymore for a reason. You give your team nothing and the burst is easier to get out of then elementalist-burst because it has a “speed limit”. The faster your fingers/macro the faster you burst.
Thief burst has SOME animation time.

We need devoted good pvp players. PPL coming and trying is bad enough with dailies /monthlies. Just recently I was able to roflstomp some pve guilds dailie dudes in tPvP with my glass ele. Full zerker, 0 30 10 0 30. Pure damage. Noone dodged, 1v5 … We don´t need more gimps, we need people who play PvP for PvP. 90% of decent PvPers I knew have quit. Half of those due to necro overload patch. Most good teams I know have disbanded/are inactive.
I don´t wanna be disrespectful, but flooding PvP with gimps without a large enough moderate to highend community will scare away whats left.
And the gimps wont stay because they get eaten alive.
Scepter dagger does have the damage component. Its not EASY to pull of, but there is no better burst then Earthquake → Hurl → Lightningflash → Airatunement → Lightningstrike → RLT or Fire 1 → Firegrab → Lightningflash → ….
Problem is that physical damage is useless at the moment, because conditions are just over the top. Its impossible to remove the condispam of a necro for extended durations. Burst can be dodged. Condispam can be dodged for 20%, but eventually you will eat it.
Additionally the best condition amulet has good toughness on it but no vit → to counter condi play condi.

Thing is as soon as you have absorbed the 1st projectile mimic will block melee attacks while reflecting projectiles.
Mimic. If you have the retaliation trait never go without mimic. Its OP!
Roll a necro. If not just make sure you are selfsustained enough and don´t need babysitting. Don´t rely on your team. If possible make sure you can carry your team if its just kitten s all over.
20 20 30 0 0. You say hardcc is better then interrupts? Then let me turn interrupts into hardcc immune to stunbreaks. Try it! And thank me later.

Just saying, mesmer, if specialized for it, is top notch duelist. Noone else can specialize for dueling. In tPvP I rarely lose duels even with meta shatter vs necros. Just read their attacks.
Just build a duelist-mesmer build, Prismatic understanding and you are invulnerable 1o1 and will wear your opponent down eventually.

Warriors, Thiefs, Elementalists, Necromancers. None of which have portal or IOL. The Mesmer can DPS just as well as an elementalist (a little less damage, but more consistant). With for example my hybrid support shatter build you contribute by neutralizing a complete game mechanic nearly completely. Also, who says you cant take portal and IOL with you there?
If mesmer has access to all three utility slots he can definately compete in most roles other professions offer him.
These builds are not made to make an old meta viable but to create a new one. What you want more? One instant rezz and be gangbanged by double necro conditioning or superheavy aoe cleanse making the enemy necromancers basically useless? And by that preventing your team from dying?
Portal and IOL are very fancy to have, but mesmer has other tools which are valuable too.
If you need them, try traiting for one of my shatter builds and take them with you. No problem. If you want to be efficient at what YOU do, take utilities which compliment your playstyle.
The fact that mesmer could be competitive in combat situations with only one utility skill for private use always seemed OP to me.
Edit: I lack the team to test this in high end tPvP, but since mesmer is anyway nolonger taken in high end tournament play not taking portal and iol doesn´t really make a difference to team performance if you are able to replace one player of the current meta setup.
I´ve spoken with Azani from MiM and he has tested my hybrid support shatter with his team. He said it were incredible, but the lack of stunbreakers were a problem. Now you can replace any utility skill you wish with additional stunbreakers.

I´m the lazy man: Logitech G13 Game “Panel” and Logitech G700 Mouse.
Dodging, Ctrl and Alt bound to the mouse. Walking is on the joystick in the pannel. 2-5 Are placed so my fingers naturally lie on them when I controll the joystick with my thumb. Jumping and 1 are bound around my forefinger. ctrl+1-5 is utility skills elite and heal, alt + 2-4 is F1-F4. Only thing i have to shift is my left forefinger :P
S/D is good, use valkyries amulet for the start and run 0 20 0 20 30. Take more damage on low health, more damage in air atunement, water V and vital striking, arcana V XI and vigor on crit.
Runes of the schoolar or of the ogre. Sigil of fire and precision.
If you become good at this try it with berserkers amulet and later with 0 30 10 0 30 for maximum damage. Here you take one of the grandmasters of your taste in air and 10% more damage in close range from earth. But DONT to this until you can handle with valkyrie or you wont have much fun

Well, that explains some things. Many things good in wvw are not viable in tPvP. For instance in wvw you are ither outnumbering or outnumbered all the time. In tPvP that is not so. You don´t need such heavy cleansing in WvW ither.
Scepter is very powerful in the right hands. With some training you can land torment very reliably. Confusion is underrated. If a burst ele for instance has more then 10 stacks of it he will oneshot himself due to his burst requiring him to use 5-10 skills in less then half a second.
I see you are a fan of might-stacking, but in tPvP others are just way better at it. If your team is anywhere near decent you wont be able to stack high enough to make it profitable. You cant maintain high mightstacks on mesmer anyway. The duration is too short. Vulnerability is the same. Others do the 25 stacks mark very fast and diversion shatter on mesmer does it well too. But traiting for one additional vuln stack per clone doesn´t make sense.
All of this is my personal opinion.
Confusing images can if done right stack 5 stacks of confusion on a hole team.
And we all know IP is powerful. But dodging once will give you a clone to shred. And shattered conditions doesn’t synergise with IP anyway.

Lol, I hope ppl pick up my support shatter build stuff from my build compilation and get inspired. Its all far from perfect, but you can easily be the necros nightmare (see what i did there? ;D)
@Armageddon: Rending shatter cant stack enough vulnerability in my opinion, worth a try tho. Mental torment allows me to do some more or less decent burst if needed.
Sword focus seems useless to me because due to the lack of illusionary persona you don´t need your enemy in melee range. Focus 4 1s CD on pull makes it very weak.
For x/x/x/30/30 variant see my condition version. With 30 on Illusions and no mental torment I havent tried power shatter yet.
Might and vuln stacking thru shatters doesn´t really work out atm. The meta is based around conditions ad vulnerability doesn´t work for that. Also you take too much time stacking.
@DuckDuckBoom: Centaur runes seem pretty sweet actually. I didn´t think of centaurs yet, and schoolars are good for the burst component. For pure support it would be good. Actually I´m making a heavy support version right now. All I´l say is mantras.
For mobility, I´m swapping utilities a lot, trying to find the best combination. Usually I have one mobility skill minimum in there.
Traiting phantasmal damage in a build based around shattering all the time doesn´t sound appealing, but it too is worth a try.
The builds are far from complete, but I felt the community is in dire need of something round the lines of support shatter. It´s the best counter to necro fotm I know. I´l keep u guys tuned. And I´l edit a lot.
What I think is awesome about my support shatter is, thakittens support is bound to offensive play, without the need of aditional actions. Ele switches to water to cleanse, no dmg there. Pressure goes down -> enemies can spam conditions easier.
You see you have too many conditions -> go mad and jump into your opponents doing your burst -> whoops! No more conds on your team ;D And when you burst the enemy is forced to dodge/counter that -> less incoming damage.
Saving the shatters for support only seems reasonable, but due to permanent vigor you aught to keep mindwreck minimum, maybe cry of frustration too, on CD at all times. By dodge spawning clones you can afford it and keep vigor up for all your team.
I´l be adding variants for such things.

Necros were a pain in the kitten . Now i can counter them.
The point is Nuka, that he posted an totally unrelated build he found funny and had 30 points in inspiration aswell. It has nothing to do with necros or the topic “cleanse shatter”
Actually, mesmer is still viable tpvp. Only his position has shifted and running around with one effective soloplay utility is no longer viable (imagine necros only needed one utility slot to be as strong as they are… HOLY CRAP)

My dream of a build. Sadly it relies heavily on phantasms, but this is the closest i managed to achieve while searching for an interruption build. This spec scales with skill incredibly well. A perfect player will be able to lock his target down, nearly permanently immobilizing it and stacking ridiculous amounts of might in the process. However this is only single targeted except for chaos storm. Charge your mantra and watch your opponent closely. If you see a key skill like a warriors bullcharge or eviscerate or an elementalists earthquake evaluate if you can interrupt it with GS5 or signet. If not use a mantra charge. Ive totally destroyed people no matter what build or skillevel they were, but also been destroyed by stabillity or bad timed interrupts on my side. Arcane thievery helps a lot with stability, consider taking it. Most fun to play build out there in my opinion. Nothing but skillshots.
I hope you enjoy these builds, especially support shatter might inspire some resistance against the necro-fotm

Well, this is by fat of topic, for this is about CLEANSE trait and tPvP viability due to necro invasion. Also shatter heal doesn´t work that way. One-clone-shatter heals by 1k. 3 Clone shatter by 1.9k or so. Heal per clone seems to scale down the more clones are shattered, similar to mindwreck.
PU sounds reasonable, tho torch would be the offhand of choice here. With a condition build sword would be useless, scepter does an amazing job there.
Lets just stop this here, this is turning into a personal fight. I will be glad to read your critique on my build selection once I have managed to put it up.
Impressions and opinions uttered here by us both are mostly subjective and not supported by evidence.
Be open minded. What we had is useless, what we need now is adaption.
I didn´t mean offensive utilities but utilities which support you, offensive or defensive doesn´t matter.
Edit: I main ele together with mesmer. If you go real burst (oneshot style stuff) your support is subpar. And real airburst starts out from earth, hurl → earthquake → lighntingflash → airatunement → lightningstrike → RTL.
Eles die faster then mesmers if not matched against condi specs, and even there a propperly specced mesmer is atleast comparable. Shatter mesmer full combo can be a close oneshot and is mostly AoE. Ele is single target nuke+phoenix and ring of fire.

What sort of damage did he deal? Conditions or physical. Did he shatter regularly?

Inspiration is not a junk tree. Its less optimal then illusions but still viable.
Speccing a shatter mesmer into it will turn him into a more supportive player, sacrificing admittedly a lot of damage, but giving his team permanent vigor, basically immunity to conditions (since I´m playing it ive seen 50% of the necros I´m up against rage-quitting) and you will keep the ability to rend boons. More egoism on your skill-bar, more communism on your trait set.

I have to disapprove. The reason we cant (or more like couldnt) do anything as good as others were able to is/was that we, unlike others, had only one utility slot available to improve damage/survivability.
If a mesmer uses all his utility slots to DPS/bunker or whatever he is definitely able to compete.
Elementalist for instance bursts harder then a shatter mesmer, but one random dodge and his burst is done for. Also his burst is easier to identify and avoid and he has less ways of disengaging AND his burst doesn´t ripp all boons from enemies around him AND his burst isn´t 100% AoE.
I will put up a build this evening or tomorrow. Then you may or may not see that mesmer is a viable choice. Just build a little more for yourself instead of sacrificing all your build for team utility. No other profession was able or required to do so. Now mesmer needs those slots for himself. Like anybody else. Try playing a burst ele or a necromancer with only one utility skill.
Then play them with all three.
Repeat with mesmer.

Phantasm mesmer is, as far my knowledge goes, barely viable in tPvP, which is to be the main interest of balancing. +My phantasm builds utilize ither disenchanter or a traited null field, we all have to invest. But not in the same method.
Edit: @Israel If those three traits were allowed to be used in the same build this would destroy build diversity by becoming the only reasonable choice.
In such a build you would barely sacrifice damage compared to a standard shatter mesmer, while gaining the best cleanse in the game.

Shattered conditions is a worthy grandmaster trait. Only the tooldip states the functionality wrong
You remove one condition per shattered clone. Thats – even without persona – the most powerful cleanse in this game. Still doing testing about what the cleanseradius is. But hell, 3 conditions cleansed per full shatter? For your entire team? Useless? No! But I think they should merge the two inspiration grandmasters and increase the heal/make it AoE too.
I´m running zerk. You won´t oneshot stuff anymore, but the teamsupport is just insane.
Ok, this is kinda cool. I´m running berserk shatter with 20 20 0 30 0.
I sacrifice quite some offense, but when with my team vs necros the necros complain about us “hacking” the conditions away…
SOI is good to help with the shatter cooldowns if needed.
Now I have:
Decent damage.
Good healing.
Perm vigor on my team.
Ridiculous AoE cleanse.
Portal.
New meta build for mesmer inc with this trait? There is NO better AoE cleanse then that trait…

Tons of confusion, insane teamsupport, permanent retaliation. And i can actually facetank two necromancers for a while O.o.
The trait which cleanses if a shatter skill is used, truly cleanses per shattered illusion, in the current meta that means our mesmer could actually be a decent bunker. Best cleansing in the game?

See? Hardcorelers are adapting, but they allso all stated they hate being pressed in professions they don´t really want to play.
A perfectly balanced game would have an infinite number of possible viable setups. Thus leading to amazing meta-mobillity. The meta would change in blinks of an eye because its not about playing the only viable setup, but about countering the currently most played with something else. That being countered again and so on.
New compositions would evolve day by day because the game would no longer be balanced around one spec per profession (or less).

S/D is not squishy, S/D has the survivabillity of a bunker on open field with high DPS and the most damaging skill bound to an evade. You can´t CC them because they will have a safe Jumpspot somewhere to sit out the CC. You can only very hardly burst them because of dodge/evade. With shadow trap thingy they can reset any fight whenever they want.
This meta is so broken… I never imagined I´d think about this one day. But I guess I´m quitting.
One day I was on some 1o1 server, waiting for my tourney to start and helseth turned up, mentioning he had switched to necro and how he hated it… I nearly vomited over my keyboard. But Xeph too? Dx. And Phantaram? I had two favourite professions since betas: Mesmer and elementalist. They were OP for a while, but having them this insanely useless now…

Wanted those since beta and i remember anet saying every armorskin worn by NPCs would be availiable to players too.(No evidence vid or so, but I KNOW they announced this pre launch.)
Anises armor and number 8 are SOOO mesmerlike Dx 8 might be too skimpy, but Anises armor is soo… perfect.
Byron, no need for a wall. Just FGS 4 without target and teleport onto the boss. With good timing you will run on the spot dealing all the damage. No wall needed.
Better way to handle it: Allow us to drop summoned weapons and pick them up again, without resetting uses ofc.
GS4 → Teleport trick is insane vs enemies trying to rezz!
