Scholar runes, sigill of energy.
Note: I am used to surviving a lot with out any defensive or mobile skills so I pretty much dodge everything. If I don´t I´m sushi, but if I do I have fun
Meteorshower -> Water attunement -> Arcane blast -> Tornado -> Lightningflash in to action.
Sometimes I use frostbow 4 to put some crits (→ vulnerability) on to the enemie team be4 tornadoing to get more of the 20% dmg boost.

It was soloque, and I used arcane shield to cover the shower + blinked at them to avoid a stun from the warrior while casting tornado.
The impact was just ridiculous. Even the warrior got 2 shot by meteors
I made my own zerk staff build now and won a 3o1 by meteorshower+tornadoing xD
5 Warrior teams in “top tier” matches… why am I still playing this game?

Warrior is just D/D ele´s megazoid.
More damage, more survivability, more CC, more healing, more cleansing…..
Old D/D would not be a match to todays warriors in opness…..
If he basically alowes us to exploit this it can only mean two things:
Good: Reward overhaul inc, noone cares about glory anymore as it is going to be replaced.
Bad: Noone cares about PvP so it does not matter how hardcore we exploit and bug ourselves thru the game…
Take Lava Tomb (Fire 10-point trait), you’ll be spending a lot of time in downed state with air+berserker builds. A glass-cannon Thief/Mesmer/Engineer can basically kill you in 2 seconds flat if you’re not careful.
Oh and avoid 1v1 situations against Necros, Hammer/Longbow Warriors and Spirit Rangers. Those are top-tier classes right now.You’ll want to stick with your team as much as possible unless you’re VERY confident in perfectly timing all your abilities, attunements and dodges.
Oh and I hope you don’t lag or anything. Playing Ele while living in far-away countries (e.g. Oceania) with delays = don’t bother.
As we are talking dueling at the moment I think when you need lava tomb you have basically failed. With enough practise stuff works, but its a long way to go. Two seconds is an amazingly long time for an elementalist who is used to react and act quickly.
Edit: If you see a glasscannon engineer just slap on focus and stay in earth/keep earth off cooldown and use 4 when he starts bursting (white lightning arcs potruding out of his gun) He will most likely oneshot himself, if not invul and burst whats left of him
Hambow Warriors are doable (if they don´t have that ugly signet), use your blinds wisely. But if you are not a lot better then they are they will roll you with no effort. If you have beaten a good hambow you know you learned a lot and are now a excellent elementalist.

Hello, I consider my self and am considered to be a very good elementalist so I might be able to help.
As elementalist you will always be the underdog. In duells, conquest, wherever. We were nerfed very hard in the past.
Good thing is: Elementalist is the profession which as far my knowledge goes scales best with player skill.
If you reach a certain skill level you will begin to have better chances against players at equal skill. But this skill level is very high, until then even way worse players with dueling builds will most likely snack you most of the time.
That being said, heres what I´m playing at the moment.

Berserk amulet, scholar runes, sigil of energy and the +5% dmg sigil
Arcane blast, Arcane shield, Lightningflash
Weapons are scepter focus, sometimes dagger for the focus.
You will try to pressure your enemy in every atunement, switching as needed (water for when youre low, earth for protections and fire for when you think you can risk a more aggressive shot.) After each switch try going to air for the lightningstrike as air will nearly instantly be ready again due to your high critchance.
When you think your enemie has no more stunbreakers available or when you want to try and end the fight quickly you start from earth or air. Starting from earth you will use hurl (followup of 2) pop invulnerability if available and you find it necessary and switch to air. Now you use 2 3 and 5. While casting 5 switch to fire an use 2 and 3 while your opponent is knocked down. If you manage to hit it all its mostly game over, if not just go back to air which will be back up due to fresh air trait and finish him of.
This spec is very fragile, but you will learn to dodge and time your CDs good enough to keep the sustain you need. Not going berserk on elementalist is rarely a good idea as your damage will rarely be sufficient to kill enemies effectively.
If you want to have some sustain anyhow you can try valkyrie or knights amulets instead of berserk.
You can also try dagger offhand, but then you will really have to 100 > 0 your target or at least apply huge pressure to survive as you wont have any sustain what so ever.
Rotation on S/D would be:
Earth 2 → Earth 2 → Earth 4 → lightningflash → switch to air and cast arcane blast as fast as your fingers can go. If target is still alive go to fire and use 3. Basically kamikaze.
If you are not sure if you can pull it all of skip fire 2 and just use 3.
Problem is elementalist is very instinctive. There is too much going on to give an exact explernation of how to rotate. If you have a stuck rotation you are predictable. Basically practise as much as possible and see how you do best.
Warriors and guardians are the true professions. Elementalists were designed to be their pets and sacrificed at their masters wishes. Last week I asked a tPvP team if I could join.
They said they´re sure I´m a good player, but they´d rather take a ranger pet, without the ranger, then an elementalist due to survivability issues…
Now seriously: Elementalist was good at launch, a bit too good actually. Arenanet nerfed us but has since not forgotten the tradition of including one elementalist nerf per patch. Its a tradition…

I think i remember anet advertising ele as high mobility profession to make up for low hp and low armor…

Warr OP? Needs moar mobility, give them an F2 with access to all nerfed ele skills in their pre nerf stage, then they might become the gods you want them to be. Blimm out!
If anet balanced ele, everyone would view oldschool eles who stuck to ele all the time as insanely op.
Some of us learned to play with one arm and no legs. If we got legs and a arm now wed be broken op because we could do cool stuff with one arm.
Sounds arrogant, but I think the average elementalist still playing the game is too skilled to get his class balanced.
A friend of mine told me lingering attunements worked as intended in PvE…
And imagine the outrage if a good atunement dancer could stack up to…
10% damage for earth+10% for fire + 10% for air + 20% if knocked down + 20% for HP>33%10% HP<90%2×5%+10% for melee range. If it just added up and wouldnt multiply that would be up to… +100% damage? It would not be op compared to the current meta and If im not mistaken the GCD on atunement swap limits the stacking, but ive seen and i pretend to be one of those eles who can kill decent players now. Dunno if it is just arrogance, but it feels like i need to be better to kill. But with those traits i could beat them at the same skill level. Now thinking I had to be 2-3x the skill of my opponent (I know, arrogant me) imagine what me or an other good ele could do…
Edit: I forgot extra damage on bleeding foes, stupid me. Oh, 20% damage for vulnerable foes… holy kitten thats a kittenload of extra damage!

Id like bonnetis rapier, cobalt, the pve masquerade armor and quite alot of other things in pvp which are only in pve…

When mesmers aoe instakill people by jumping of ledges I do complain xD
Ive seen a 130k.
Mesmer is the king atm, can nuke a node with 50k dps aoe.
Were in the mesmer jumping meta. 5 coordinated portal mesmers nuking nodes without any tell.
I think they changed the rotation to niflhel only to fix this for a while xD
He means to say that the chaos storm created by the trait crits for over 50k per second aoe. And thats just tPvP!
I´d like pre-beta stealth. When a thief takes damage in stealth he “flickers” making him slightly visible. Taking too much damage removes stealth.
This flicker might just look like stealth looks to allies. With this someone could guess the thiefs position and hit there, see where the thief is heading and require the thief to move more strategically.
But when what works is so lame and faceroll it isnt fun anymore, but builds which actually have a skillfloor are, independent of the skill of the player, not strong enough to compete, I wont play something I don´t want to.
Hey, I´m a longtime elementalist/mesmer from germany too.
So, if you don´t mind having an elementalist or mesmer on your team I´d be happy to get to know you.
Even if it doesn´t matter, I´m champion illusionist and maga, playing tpvp since bwe1 and the greatest thing I had in PvP to date was a streamed 3o3 tournament.
I´m not looking for hardcore professional esport maniacs, just for a few nice people to play with.
He asked if he should change to full power, and the answer is yes. Judging from the OP I guess he wants to PvE. I´m not much of a build expert there, but I´d recommend the stats Power, Critical damage, toughness, healingpower and enough precision to get to 50% critical chance.
Full berserk would work too, but might become tough to survive with.
My compromise: Old range, a flat 30s CD.
I remember some pre beta video with a dev explaining stuff, including an ele skill called icy spikes or so. You could cast it instantly or charge it up. Churning earth would have been cool that way too, maybe with tapping the button again to explode it.
Channeling attacks to increase their effect would make many skills more useful.
Ranger longbow knockback could be a channel too. Instantfire to make someone back of or channel to snipe someone of a ledge if greater force.
Most important thing to me is that we have a way of breaking target without stealthing on high cooldowns for extended durations. 1/4 sec stealth is basically just break target. Allows more mesmerish play. Also The uber short dazes so we can have lower CD because we can not lock people out of their set with them, but have to interrupt for them to have an effect.
They actually did this in GW1…

At the moment armor is designed to not have one specific profession´s flair so other professions are not ignored with it.
They should give us armors with a profession centered flavor. Look at mesmer armors from GW1, or GW1 armors in general. Armor design wasnt pidgeonheld into a neutral design and armors were more interesting.

I think a lot of people would benefit from seeing objective information about what classes are being run in pvp.
Maybe a % chart of how often each class is run and their winning %.
I suspect its nowhere near as lopsided as some people think, but that information being available and updated over a period of time would help people see the big picture.
Good idea! Problem would be IF things are so out of bounds people would use the chart to select the most broken thing available.
every class is op, just some are more op than others.

If anet actually balances everything else, our bottom of the pot class ele will be OP as kitten, because the entire game is oversupplied with power to an extent where the weakest thing is still too strong^^
Ok, this statement is valid. No complaints and nothing I could call inhuman. For the first time you explain how your mentality allows progress.
If everyone bandwagons to the most op thing a-net sees this huge spike of usage on the broken thing and fixes it.
Here is also the problem with my translations to real life: A tyrant doesn´t want to fix stuff. A-Net (hopefully) wants.

Tell us of stray ideas, stuff you want in next patch, what you are working on.
If you add how likely stuff is to be implemented no one will be angry if it doesn´t happen. Tell us of progress made etcetcetc.
Cool idea would be to give everyone insight to your ideas and work and allow the community to vote a representative who gets access to more internal communication.
Someone engaged in the game can scan the forums, evaluate the communities opinion on your ideas and pass it on to you. Have six of these people, one wvwvw focused, one pvp focused and one pve focused split on EU/US.
If you are honest you wont have to edit the information passed to us so its just copy paste from internal notes.
And if you are honest about your progress no one will be angry if you are slow, because we know its slow and wont be in the patch before it hits.
PvE CONTENT should be 100% internal to prevent spoilers tho.
We don´t decide but give input which is up to date.
All we can do at the moment is Q.Q.
If you open up we can say “wait, that´s a bad idea” or “we would like it more this way” or “this might be a problem”.
Just give us ALL the info and channel it thru representative forum maniacs who give you direct intel.
Elected “ambassadors” shouldn´t be in place for more then one patch cycle because it is tons of work and no one will do it forever for free.
Elections can be 100% automated, just give us a tool to choose our ambassador of choice. Which says hello every month and allow us to apply for the position.
I actually have 70% win (I have a list where I mark it) 1o1 vs everything but hammer, longbow or valkyrie regen warriors and sword thiefs. Necros are around 50% and I don´t stand a chance vs prismatic understanding mesmers.
The last is an example for unreasonable q.q because its useless out of 1o1. The rest is overpowered faceroll stuff played by people like you.
I don´t equate, I´m talking in metaphors. The principle is the same. And if everyone stops qqing and plays to win the game wont become better.

Sometimes it is players blaming their lack of skill on bad balance, but if only warriors and thiefs don´t do so, while a year ago only elementalists didn´t this implies something is not how it is supposed to be.

No system is unfailable. Humans fail, but sometimes the system does.

How do you do condition damage with an elementalist to make it rival power? I am talking 10-15k DPS for power here. Condition goes up to like… 2-4k?
Power all the way. Ele can barely deal any cond damage. It works, but if you go full power/crit yall see numbers which make your eyes pop if you have played condi before.
When I join Yoloque with my ele my team insults me and asks me to reroll, followed by leaving before the match even stated or they see me play.

So you are telling me that, and this did really happen, if I duell a valkyrie regeneration warrior while playing a berserker elementalist and pull of the most powerful and ridiculously devasting combos on the warrior, with out him dodging a thing, and I dodge every single hard hit of his for ten minutes straight, until he lands one random stun on me with my stunbreak on cooldown and twoshots me, I am a scrub and he is skilled and a winner?

Play to win players who just care about winning and define their fun by that.
Fun-is-when-I-have-fun players who just do whats fun for them and put a side whats unfun for them.
QQers or Revolutionists, visionarys, scientists who see a game and don´t care about winning but about the game reaching its ultimate potential. They say what they think, break down walls and make the world a better place.
Ofc there is unreasonable QQ. But behind every Q.Q there is an desire to improve something.
Yes, this is a game. But if we apply the rules of society to the way we handle it and communicate we can make it better.
I count my self to the QQers. The smartest are prolly the fun people, who invest 0 effort but also communicate that something is wrong by simply not showing up in the statistics anymore.
In RL: A land of play to win people with a tyrant ruling it will remain as it is and spread its evil influence.
A land of fun ppl with a tyrant in it will just end up uninhabited and will be forced to change its government to be more appealing.
A land of qqers will have a revolution throwing down the tyrant in probably deadly battles and replace him. Rinse and repeat until the majority is ok with the situation.

texmod+that shader mod might do a good job if used with the neccessary expertise. They dont edit game files and texmod was ok with anet in GW1. Just need some lowlife dude to do all the textures tho xD
I must admit tho, in teamfights the halting strike damage might really grow insane ;D

Focus: 70-80% PvP, shifting around every day.
PvE: When nice people ask for my help or company I´l gladly join, but PvEing alone is too dull for me.
WvW: Occasional solo roaming.
PvP: Tons of theorycrafting, creating new builds. I´m a total honor fanatic (if I´m not on Xonto) cant stand people playing OPkitten and I despise the current meta game so I keep out of tPvP atm.
I main mesmer and elementalist, none more then the other, and LOVE interrupt based and/or quick pased builds with high skill-ceiling.
SOME might know me from team “Think With Portals”, a team from the Guildnews.de Cup where me and two people who I got to know 10 minutes before our first match up made it to 4th of 16, getting crushed by MiM and IDL (PROUD!!!!!).
Even tho mesmer has a number of viable weapon choices, I would still love to see this.
Post your Ideas/tell me what you think about mine!
Skill 1: 3-hit chain, more damage to targets close (you know, if I wave with a fan the wind gets weaker the further it travels) first hit causes vulnerability, second hit the enemy (cut) last hit in the chain dazes for 1/4 sec (or less if possible) if target is in close range. The attacks deal aoe damage in a cone, but targets at max range will barely get scratched.
Skill 2: Counter – Like scepter/ sword blocks, if you are hit while channeling enemies in front of you are knocked back a short distance or knocked down. (Duration depending on distance?) If tapped once more you gain swiftness and remove a boon from enemies in the cone.
Skill 3: Kiss – You blow a kiss in front of you which strikes allies and enemies. If the first person hit is an enemy he looses up to 3 boons, takes damage and is stunned for 0.5 seconds. Further enemies hit are dazed for 1/4 seconds and take damage depending on the boons ripped and distance to the caster. Allies are healed and gain vigour.
Note: Very strong scaling, low base values here. If you go for support the damage should be negligible, but the healing should be powerful and if you go for damage vice versa.
Off hand:
4th Skill: Throw fan: You throw your fan. it bounces between allies and creates a clone at each bounce. Hitting the skill again stealths you for 0.5 seconds and then teleports you to the last summoned clones location.
5th Skill: Back off! Enemies in melee range are teleported away from you. And dazed for 1/4 second. Works like an aoe enemy based phazeretreat. The teleport is not CC. You are healed for every enemy effected.
Note: This concept might be terribly op with halting strike / bountiful interruption / immobilize on interrupt, but it contains everything I have missed about mesmers.
The short duration dazes are to interrupt/disrupt enemy rotations, not to lock down. Again, this would synergize very well, if not too well with a trait – the 1 sec stun on daze trait.
I will add cooldowns/exact values and another, more condition based concept.
Main conditions will most likely be torment and confusion, with a real lot of torment combined with snares.
