Never in my previous post did I say it was a problem, it seems you either misunderstood me or never understood it at all, so let me rephrase it:
LA’s Jumping Puzzles and their chests have been there since the launch, and until now they still didn’t do anything about it, this means they found no problem with it, even when lvl 80s farm the JPs daily.
So if it’s not a problem in their view, why not do the same across all maps?
And what might this problem you speak of be?
And what may that exploit be?
Mind you so many high level people, if not 80, are already “exploiting” LA’s jumping puzzles. If those are fine, what’s the problem to make the same for the whole world?
Well, but didn’t Anet actually had wanted people to still go back to the lower level zones and play? And the fact that right now lower level zones is undoubtedly less populated than higher level zones too?
Also, since Magic Find does not affect chest reward, and you only get a chance at the reward once per day, do you think it will really be effective to farm this way? Would it really be that profitable? Something that you have to rely on pure luck.
Btw, it’s not like lower level zones do not have bosses or events that require more people to finish too…
(edited by Blizt.3086)
I’m talking about the chest at the end of Jumping Puzzle or other hidden places in PvE.
I just…don’t understand why the reward is scaled base on that zone’s level.
Here’s an experience I had a few days ago: I took my lvl 80 character back to Plain Ashford, and went down into Barradin’s Crypt with a bunch of lowbies, and after many deaths and retries we finally managed to kill our way in, took down the bosses, and found ourselves a Splendid Chest.
At that moment, because the last boss was so hard and to think we actually did it despite they’re really new at the game, I was really joyful because of it!
Then right after I opened the chest I can’t help but to feel disappointed, even though I DID know the reward would scale base on the zone…
Many of you must know a lot of people (including me), would run LA’s Jumping Puzzles daily because you can get lvl 70~80 items from it. Why must I be limited to do these JP everyday? There are so many more JP out there in many zones, why can’t I do them and get the same reward based on my level?
I think and think and think…I just can’t seem to find a solid reason that the chest reward must be done the current way of scaling to the zone.
Nah, it has just as much health as other Champion mobs too imo. The other day my Engineer and a random Necro ran into one in SoD and were nearly able to take him down. If it weren’t that about 3 more new Risen suddenly spawned near us and we made some grave mistake, I’d say our fight was pretty smooth.
His attack is so slow that sometimes I’d stand in front of him waiting, then do a block/dodge/evasive skill to stall some time for my necro teammate to give everything she can on it. I did however find it a bit annoying that other than CC, even Crippled wasn’t working, good thing Immobilized still worked…
(edited by Blizt.3086)
I’m mostly a PvE player and I don’t have a problem. When I first hit 80, I was only at 40% World Completion, now I’ve got full set of Exotic and is at 51% World Completion, I still have so many places to go!
Occasionally when I just didn’t feel like playing in the zone I was in, I would select a random lower level zone and just go for a walk.
Sure it was already 100% completed before, so now I don’t really have a direction to go, or some objective to achieve, but now I can just roam around in no particular pattern and see what kind of event or scenery I ran into, it’s a lot of fun when you don’t give yourself pressure~ (like when you just got to a new map, you would have this urge of forcing yourself to move to new places, sometimes in a hurry)
Unlikely to happen, probably never. Just create another character? – -
If your character slots are full, buy more. I mean what do you expect from Anet?
Hard questions…I like fighting a lot of mobs in the game, they are all very unique. But excluding the combat ability aside, I probably love Ooze the most! Why? That’s so simple, they’re slime and cute XD (they’re my favorite mob to morph into too)
Risen imo is not “boring” to fight, they’re as unique as many other mobs, but the thing is: There are way too many of them.
Most other maps, I see other mobs after walking some distance. And any map that shows trace of Risen? I walked, Risen, more Risen, horde of Risen! -_-
Has anyone figured out, under what circumstances, would players be getting equip that its level is lower than their actual level? (For example: level 80 playing in a level 6 zone)
Or is it just random? Like as a level 80 he could randomly receive drops that are level 6 or level 70~80?
More than often I do not have the time to check each equips’ level when I picked them up, it’s usually until later I would find a few low level items among many, and I have no idea exactly when did they pop up…
Also, has anyone gotten Exotic drops in low level zones? Their drop rate would without a doubt be quite low, but I have picked up level 80 Rare in low level areas, so Exotic should be a possibility too? :o
This will be fixed in a future expansion. They’ll raise the level cap amd create a new end-game zone. The problem with everyone farming Cursed Shore will be solved. Everyone will farm the new end-game zone instead.
How would that solve the problem? Most people will just farm in the “new end-game zone” when it happened, instead of whatever zone they’re farming in right now.
I’m on Stormbluff Isle and it’s about the same here too -_-
I have spend a lot of time in low-mid level zones, when I hit 80 my World Completion was only like 40%, and back then I didn’t even set foot in 65+ zones. Almost everywhere I go, I see all these Champions wandering around that I couldn’t take out alone, and so many DEs or group events that no one seem to care. Sometimes I saw a boss or event that I couldn’t do and logged out, and when I logged back in after 2-3 hours, guess what? It’s still there…-_-
Just yesterday I have finally entered Strait of Devastation, I had thought maybe the situation would improve a bit better here since it is a 70-75 zone. Well, still the same…I see these Risen Captain or Megalodon boss that no one bothered for hours, all those submarines taken out repeatedly, and even if they managed to land, because there’s not another single soul out there other than me and a bunch of NPC, the landing events always failed.
I’m really losing faith now, must I go and stay at the highest level zones to see more people?
I hope Anet solve this issue soon, or at least make Guesting available as soon as possible, so I can maybe start a server-crossing guild with people that likes to do PvE regardless of the reward or DR bs.
I just encountered this same problem today.
After some testing with my guildies, I found out that I could still receive whisper from someone and reply back to them; I however cannot send a whisper to anyone on my own. Basically if I want to whisper someone, I gotta first wait for them to whisper me.
I tried to whisper people from Guild and Buddy Panel, none of them worked. I tried clicking people’s name in the chat window to whisper them, didn’t work. I also tried typing /w first then entered the desired player’s name, didn’t work either.
So, I opened about 20 chest and no skin either…
I have to admit, the first time I saw the event page talking about taking chances with BLC, I was a bit taken back, because I’ve played enough F2P games to know this kind of tactic. But then I quickly thought: “This is Anet we’re talking about, given their good history and design philosophy, they wouldn’t really go that low right?”
First 10 boxes I opened – no skin, I thought it was just bad luck. Then another 5 boxes – no skin, ok maybe I was extremely unlucky. Another 5 boxes opened – still no skin…this seemed just not worth it.
I wouldn’t go that extreme to say that in the future that I’ll definitely not spend anymore money on the game (I could bear other more terrible companies, so why not Anet?), but I know that next time if similar cash item appear, I’ll trust my first instinct and not trust Anet anymore…because their good image have crumbled in my eyes in a considerable speed.
Honestly, spending only about $20 wasn’t a lot for me, but they definitely lost some trust from me. I guess they’re just that desperate in needing more money that they’re willing to sacrificed some of their customer’s trust.
Btw, those of you who are saying that we can have fun in many other Halloween events, and not limited to getting skins from BLC, you may be right – because I’m indeed having fun in some other events, but that doesn’t mean I can’t express my negativity concern about BLC and BLC only.
I’m planning to make a Charr Mesmer soon, and I gotta admit, most Light Armors do look like crap on Charr (honestly, personally I have yet to see a single Charr Memser in 2 month’s play time…)
Managed to mix a set I’m satisfied in the PvP locker though, thought I’d share it to hope seeing more Charr Mesmer in game
Does anyone has picture of it, either from player or NPC? (I never found a Priory NPC that is Engineer…)
Preview of course doesn’t work as it lacks the green crystal attached to it, and Wiki doesn’t have it either.
Or if a NPC wielding a Priory Rife does exist, that kind of information is appreciated too ><
honestly though, the biggest problem with wells is that we have to take a trait to make them a GTAoE. Honestly, that’s ridiculous. They’re really not useful if you don’t take that trait.
That’s probably because you were using build that does not involve the use of dagger. Dagger builds may not be that popular, but granted, untraited Wells work just fine when you’re using dagger or close range build.
Sure why not?
If I were to do it, I’d probably use a build like this:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fcIQJAqalspSV3ySeF17IBoH7t+8V0j8/YK/pAbB;TQAAzCpMiYSA
(copy and paste the link, gw2 forum doesn’t like linking gw2skills.net)
Recently I’m playing around with Elixir Gun and Tool Kit, and I found these two skills can cause me some stress sometimes.
They are both skills that have a relatively long cast/animation time, yet you cannot cancel them with any other skills -_-
There are several other skills that they can’t be cancelled by other skills too, but their cast time are usually less than a second, it rarely can be a problem.
But like Fumigate, if you used it then you’re stuck for more than 2 seconds. You either have to use a dodge or swap out and swap in, which waste a second, if you happened to need to use another skill in the kit.
I wonder if this counts as a bug…
Uh, who said it’s one way? You can leave it any time the same way how you entered it, I did this all the time…
They’re pretty reasonable if you asked me, mind you my low level build currently use 2 Wells with no 20% CD reduced trait, I rarely had problem with them.
They’re pretty powerful, imo it’d be insane to have their CD lowered to around or below 40 seconds.
Doesn’t this just sound like botting? If you don’t want to be attacked while afking, just go to the mist?
Na its basically a mob being Invulnerable if you try to attack it from above. It happens a descent amount.
heres some threads about it Invulnerable Mobs in different scenarios.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Invulnerable-Mobs-Suck
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Mobs-suddenly-turning-invulnerable-and-regenerating-to-full-health/if they just removed it…. but people would exploit its removal or something.
I see what you meant now, I have encountered that sometimes as well, but it’s not really related to the issue I’m trying to express here :x
Sometimes I also suspect that some hacked account may be used for advertising gold selling site…like if they are done with the hacked account or simply don’t need it, log on it, giving a few shout or sending some mails, and then just leaving it to die (banned) :/
I don’t think this is a good suggestion, however I know where you’re coming from…I have recently went to a lot of low/mid level area and I often found 1-2 Champion boss in an event or not, and there are just no or few players around me to fight it :/
To fundamentally fix this problem, what Anet should do is make it that high level players can still get good drop, money, karma appropriate to their levels, that way more people will have more reasons to go to other areas other than Orr.
Your name dude. xD
Range weapons in this game have to be improved. Shortbows can’t be used to range enemies from above, for example standing on a building above an NPC, I mean let me cheat here a little and attack without being attacked back. Maybe this is just a fantasy of a noob.
lol for a sec there I was like “wtf, 1 reply but the poster is me??” XD
I don’t exactly understand your example, is it like shooting forward to have the arrow pulled by gravity and hit the mob below? o.O
BEWARE, LONG POST WITH A LOT OF IMAGE LINKS
First of all I want to say that I’m an Engineer player, I didn’t not play other classes with projectile skills that much, so I’m not too sure if they had felt the issue too (although I did have done some testing with other classes later in this post).
Ok, on topic:
The projectile skills in this game, whenever used without targeting an enemy, has this issue of shooting the projectile in a downward angle. (like this picture, where I used left click to show the side, but I’m actually facing the golem in a short distance)
This has caused quite an headache for me sometimes, for example, the enemy may just be right in front of me, but when I press my skill, it’s not hitting at all. (see this? I’m so close to him, but I’m hitting nothing…)
This issue wasn’t that noticeable until I switched from Pistol to Rifle. After some thought, I realized that the reason Pistol has less problem was because that:
1) The character holds pistol at a higher position compare to using a rifle (Hip Shot, well, shoot from the character’s hip), so even though pistol’s bullet still flies downward, it can hit “further” despite the fact it has shorter range than rifle’s (Rifle vs Pistol)
2) Pistol has explosion at the end of its range, so more possibly to hit the mob
And after further testing, I found out that in order to make projectile skills hit the target WITHOUT targeting, you can’t play the game with bird’s-eye view, you literally have to move your camera to actually aim your target...
And what I said above aren’t only applied to the Engineer, but other classes as well (excuse me for only showing 3 other classes, my 5 slots were full already)
Ranger:
hitting the floor
adjusting view angle for hit
hitting the floor 2
adjusting view angle for hit 2
Necro:
hitting the floor
adjusting view angle for hit
Mesmer (using Magic Bullet):
hitting the floor
adjusting view angle for hit
Now, having read here, some of you might want to question me that: “Why not just use auto-targeting then? That way you will never miss.”
True, auto-targeting has its pros, but there’s also cons to it, for examples:
1) In this picture, imagine we’re in PvE, that torch light in front of me is an incoming Risen which I wanted to target, and the golem on my right is an innocent cute yellow-name moa. I fire my rifle, and because moa is actually more close to me, the game has decided to target it instead, so now I gotta fight both the Risen and the moa…-_-
2) When not using auto-targeting, certain skills can be better used, like Engineer’s Flamethrower (again, excuse me, but I’m not too familiar with other classes). Check this picture and this picture, do you see the difference? The 1st one is with the auto-targeting option, the 2nd one is without; if there were actually more enemies like 10 of them, I can hit way more enemies with the auto-targeting option off.
So, after typing all that, what I wished for is that maybe Anet could change projectile’s behavior to be always horizontal to the ground? Or simply make it being another option like auto-targeting, so that if some players actually like how projectile works now, they can still choose to turn the horizontal option off

If I have to summarize everything, what one of my friend once said would best describe my feeling toward the Engineer class:
“Wat son? You swap skills like the fist of the north star.”
For some reasons it’s shown as Bad link even though I used the correct linking format…
My build is:
Rifle + Healing Turret + Elixir Gun + Tool Kit + elixirs + Elixir X
20 Firearm – Rifled Barrel, Hair Trigger
20 Alchemy – Fast-Acting Elixir, Protection Injection
30 Tools – Kit Refinement, Power Wrench, Adrenal Implant
x6 Superior Rune of Melandru (165 Toughness, -25% Condition/Stun Duration)
Double Super Elixir for condition removal, Jump Shot + Acid Bomb for positioning, Tool Kit for instant crippled effect on swap and the awesome shield skill.
If I used full Knight pieces for armor, reducing 16% CritDamage I get 315 more Toughness, does that seem more worth it for this build?
P.S. Can’t use my PC right now, such a pain to type and edit everything using iPod -.-
I’m recently planning stat distribution for my lvl 80 set, originally I was gonna use full Berserker pieces, but now I wonder if I should mix in some Knight pieces, which exchange Critical Damage for Toughness.
This is what my build looks like btw:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fcIQFAUlIqqbH5SdF87IxoHfW0bGkC9mXRKes+B;ToAg0CnoMyYkwIrROjkGNi4wA
It’s a PvE build, so some stat won’t be exactly the same.
@Gaile
Thanks, I just submit a ticket too. Btw you added a small “-” in front of your link in the URL tag, but anyway I have checked it.
Well, I’m not sure if this particular PSU of mine is the problem. I recalled HD 6850 requires an at least 500W PSU, and mine’s a 600W one :/
(edited by Blizt.3086)
Try lowering the memory clock a little on the GPU. Every time I’ve had that issue it’s been caused by the memory being clocked too high.
That GPU temperature is excellent. It’s definitely not a thermal thing. Most modern GPUs handle into the 80 degree range without issue.
Hmm, I was tweaking the GPU clock in CCC’s AMD Overdrive, but I couldn’t lower the memory clock any lower.
The default for HD 6850 would be 1000 MHz, but CCC only let me set it to 1050 MHz by lowest, would that 50 MHz be much of a difference?
This has been happening for awhile now. When I’m in game, I’m bothered by the fact that it could crash at any given time randomly. So far I have encountered the following:
1. Screen froze and then black out for about 10 secs in total, then returned to normal. Basically it’s the “Display driver has stopped responding and recovered” error. (it could stay normal for hours until it suddenly occurs, and sometimes one time after another immediately)
2. Screen black out with audio still on, I can see the in-game cursor and still move it, but when I tab out, I found the error window that says “Guild Wars 2 has encountered an unrecoverable graphics driver error and must terminate”.
3. Similar to #1, except it doesn’t even black out and stay frozen like that forever. I can’t tab out, or use Ctrl+Alt+Delete, only thing I can do is force-shut down the computer.
4. Game suddenly crashes to desktop and this message welcomes me.
5. Similar to #3, game stays frozen (sometimes black out too), and my computer is making terrifying noisy sound, that anyone heard it would know they gotta force-shut it down immediately…
I have tried the following trying to solve the issue:
1. Updating driver to newest version, sometimes rolled back too (currently using 12.8 with cap profile), plus clean uninstall every times using Driver Fusion/Sweeper
2. Lowering my GPU’s clock speed to default (it’s a factory OC’ed model)
3. Lowering graphical setting in the game (ironically sometimes it crashes immediately after I just lowered everything lol…)
4. Ran 3DMarks and MSI Kombuster tests, passed them with no issue found
5. Monitoring GPU temperature during normal time and right after a crash just occurred, the temperature is always within normal range (about 50~60C at most)
6. Following the instructions in this board’s “Black Screen Issue (AMD/ATI)” thread
I have tried to re-create the crashing via opening/closing programs, or doing certain things in game, but I just can’t find the cause. For example, sometimes I’m just standing there not doing anything, camera not moving much, very few players or NPC around me, and I still crashes.
It’s so frustrating not knowing WHEN it could/would happen, because of this I have yet to try PvP, WvW, or dungeon much, because being stuck for 10 secs or possibly crashing at any time, would be fatal in those activities…
I’m really out of ideas, btw I just got this desktop new only about 3 months ago.
Attachments:
price is fine, it would be useless if anyone could afford it in an eyeblink. If you farm 5g a day you can buy it in less than a month.
And care to share how you earn 5g a day? I could barely made 3g from selling a crap load of materials I saved up over the weeks…
And in what way would it be useless if people can get it fast? I don’t really care if others are wearing the same stuff, as long as I’m happy with my own look.
Dungeon sets not only have good stat, but they also have rare skin, where are their stance on that then?
Not to mention recently they just announced they’re gonna increase the amount of tokens given to let players acquire the item more easily, what’s up with that? I don’t think Dungeon’s skin are any more inferior than Cultural’s, I just happened to have Cultural set as my aim and goal right now.
I find it real ridiculous that every T3 Cultural Armor pieces cost at least more than 10g each.
T1 was relatively cheap, T2 was a bit more expensive, but even then T2’s price is only about 2.5 times that of T1’s price, it was still reasonable and acceptable.
Then when you tried to get the T3, T3’s price is about nearly 17 times of T2’s price! What the heck’s with the sudden skyrocket increase??
Let’s say today’s gold/gem exchange rate is 1:250, a full set of T3 armor set is 117g, that roughly equals 29250 gem. 800 gem = $10, so a full set of T3 armor set would be worth about $365…seriously? On a SINGLE set? I could like purchased 5 copies of Guild Wars 2 and still have some leftover!
Here’s some other comparisons:
A full set of Dungeon’s lvl 60~80 Exotic equips currently cost 1380 tokens not counting the weapons. Say the players acquire 20 tokens per run, so they would need to do 69 runs. And say each run costs about 20s on repairing, that would be roughly 13.8g.
Even if we took in the situation that players can sometimes failed the run and wasted money, and we doubled the cost, that’s still only 27.6g for the FULL SET, and we’re talking about Exotic, while the T3 Cultural Armor set is only Rare.
Right now, it just costs way too high. I don’t know if we would be able to make that kind of money around lvl 60~80, so you thought it was “ok”. Right now I’m only lvl 30 slowly enjoying the game while acquiring cool looking item, if I must and can only make good money when I’m that high level, feels like I’m being forced to rush to 80.
Something like 5-7g a piece would sounds more reasonable…
P.S. Oh, and I forgot to mention, I bought it for the look, not for the stat, I have already transmutated a few pieces of T1/T2 armor on my lvl 30 ones.
(edited by Blizt.3086)
I’d say their reason and motive are justified.
Imagine if the Pale Tree was actually influnenced by a tablet written by a brutal and hateful Centaur, and the majority of the Sylvari race were born to be full of negative emotion. And then some of the Sylvari decided that the tablet has changed their original nature, and they decided to form an organization to fight back and reverse the influence…now would you say they’re doing the wrong thing? That they are evil?
Unfortunately however, from the viewpoint of most other residents in the world of Tyria, their actions and ways of doing thing are very unacceptable, and thus Nightmare Court is deemed “evil”, just like the Kraits.
@The Boz
I never said it was an increase in DPS did I? I do admit sometimes Life Blast’s damage can be a bit low, but then again, most of the time when I entered DS, I never intended to use any of the abilities for damaging purpose, but always for defensive/condition stacking/control purpose.
For example, did you know the Vulnerability applied with Unyielding Blast is 2 stacks per hit? If they can just adjust the casting/projectile speed to a bit faster, it’ll be a even more powerful tool for stacking Vulnerability than Axe’s auto attack.
And in your vision you’d make Dark Path an on-target skill, does that include retaining the AoE chilled/bleeding effect? I often take advantage of that by chilling many, then when chilled effect is about to disappear, switch to Axe and cast Unholy Feast to continue restricting their movement.
In my opinion, you only disliked the current state of DS because you’re coming from a condition build type of view.
As a Dagger + Axe Necromancer who’s focusing stacking Vulnerability and other movement restriction condition, the only complains I have with the DS is that both Life Blast and Dark Path have such long casting time and slow projectile. If they can make them like Lich Form’s #1 skill, which it’s instant cast and has decent speed, then it will be perfect – at least coming from my viewpoint.
Yeah I know that, what I don’t understand is the percentage of Life Force gained. It’s a weird mistake they make: Not 1%, nor 8%, but 4% of something in-between!
I have tried underwater combat a few times, my opinion is that Trident’s skill set is surprisingly good, while Spear’s #1 and #2 were ok, #3 was meh, #4 and #5 were terrible.
As for DS in the water, Life Blast on the land was already slow enough for me, in the water they’re even worse! Takes so long to channel and finally blast it.
DS’s #2 and #3 are ok, but I absolutely have no idea what #4 is for…my build is not something that can transfer or convert the condition on me, so other than sacrificing myself for my teammate, that skill is worthless for me.
Other than the above issues, I find Necro’s underwater combat much more fun than Engineer’s
I’m not sure if this was intended or it was a bug (text error).
The description said we will gain Life Force per strike (8x), and below there’s another line: “Life Force: 4%”, so in theory we should be getting 32% of Life Force if all 8 hits landed right? But every time I tested it, it was always a steady 8% increase.
So what? Was gaining 32% Life Force with a 8s CD skill too OP that they nerfed the 4% increase to 1% but didn’t change the text? Or am I missing something? :/
