Generally speaking I think GW2’s designers have done a really good job of creating a pro-social play environment. Design really encourages players helping each other out.
Except for dungeons. I wouldn’t say my experience has been universally bad in dungeons. It’s generally been ok. But in terms of both frequency and severity, GW2 easily tops all other MMOs for dungeon nastiness.
There is a definite upside to being able to farm dungeons quickly for gold, fragments, tokens etc. But the downside is that there are a lot of very uptight and impatient players who have mega rage meltdowns at the slightest hiccup.
I was speaking to someone earlier in the week who was asking about the best ways to get gold in map chat and I naturally suggested dungeons. But they’d tried that and seen one of those meltdowns and were so not keen to see any more.
I think this aspect of the game’s design might need more thought.
Just read the party description and if they aren’t asking for pugs then don’t join. I think its pretty clear. And if they aren’t specific you can always ask and notify people at the beginning of the run if its okay that you aren’t experienced. And if you really want to find a pug party then post your own LFG. I don’t see why there is an issue with dungeon runs. Not everyone likes doing things inefficiently and thats fine imo. I haven’t had any issues with dungeon runs.
Pretty much the only things I really want are things that are/were programmed:
1) Traits fixed.
2) SAB turned back on. W1 and W2 will do.
3) The daily login section moved on the achievement tab. I don’t normally care about that stuff, but that one is both ugly and inconvenient. Its a tiny, tiny complaint, but its there.
4) First person mode.
5) The personal story back in order.
6) Hobosacks turned off.Things like build saves and the like would be nice. But an amazing feature patch could be put out for me without really having to do anything. Just restore some things that were broken, and turn some thing on/off (I realise in programming terms that’s not quite so simple, but still).
1) This is needed and I hope its implemented.
2) Would be nice but its not that important atm.
3) Meh.
4) Stop asking for something that is useless in game.
5) The order of personal story is weird and disjointed. So would be nice.

Brief description of what you’re seeing : Delay in skills casting mainly at tequatle I am like 4 minutes behind the whole event (which is kinda fun when I am on ts and commanders are telling me to go to batteries and Im still stuck on phase 1) Using the waypoint allows me to catchup sometimes but when I engage teq I get left behind again I have reduced the character models ect. doesn’t help.
Its nice that we will be getting a change to the traits but can’t we get it before the release of HoT. A lot of my friends who just started refuse to make alts cause they don’t wanna redo map completion for traits or farm traits all over again. Making it unlocked across characters would be great :P.

I don’t like the focus on zerk for pve but pvp in trinity is awful and Anet can create opportunity for different requirements. Just no might as well only 3 classes with 3 amulets.
Anet doesn’t even need to change the stats to get rid of zerk, they just need to revamp bosses and harder encounters. However, I doubt they will ever do it because that will require players to actually look at their skills and press some more buttons in which case many seem to find really hard.
It is not that Anet can’t make Pve more challenging. It is simply that the current MMO community is full of casuals and they can’t handle harder content therefore companies dump down the overall difficulty.
Maybe before enter dungeon make slots to choose for extra some two or three skills based on slot to choose tank,support or heal.
There is nothing stopping you from doing that now the concept of letting people play the way they want to still applies just dont join people who want to finish the content faster cause they have other commitments in life other than spending 1 hour in a dungeon attempting to kill some mob.
If you do tequatle or triple trouble other builds do come in handy for the specialised party in triple trouble as for teq power vit and toughness. In the new dry top its faster to kill certain bosses like the husks at the red keep with condi damage so if ur map is organised there ur condi builds would come in handy. And again you can play how you want no1 said you should join the zerker only teams make ur own team if u want to play other builds
Why does I have to pay to have a feature that was promised for the release of the game? (guild hall) You know, the thing that should have come nearly after the release.
When did they promise guildhalls exactly? i’d love to see a source for that.
I don’t remember them ever promising guild halls in the initial release. And they never said if you dont have the expansion you wont have access to the guild halls
So glad some community members have some sense of financial management. To all the players complaining they can’t afford to purchase the expansion learn to manage your finances. This to me has always been an investment into a game that has provided me hours of entertainment so much more worth investing in than console games. I for one do not want to see the expansion in the gem store I want to have anet reap some profit off this expansion. I don’t want it to be cheapened to something you can buy with in game gold.

I remember one npc conversation in one of the outposts in caledon that made me suspicious since launch where the human discusses why they need to be there n why they have to teach the sylvari when they have knowledge that exceeds the older races :P
I would hope it was paid n here are the following reasons :
1. Anet has a huge staff they need to make money esp since they have been providing us with great content between the expansion with living story (alot of people may not see it that way but each episode or each event that occured in living story lead up to this expansion if u had any foresight you would have seen it from the start they had a bigger plan for these mini episodes.
2. It is a game that is well over the box price u initially paid for and $50 or $80 is the average price u pay for rpgs these days so its not going to break ur wallet ($80 if they make a delux edition which I would buy into and maybe the collectors at 100+ if the extras are nice :P)
3. Making it paid for will allow them to get more money to support the team that would be working on the next expansion.
If you’d like to see the in-game video again, visit the NPC near the entrance to Camp Resolve. He will let you rewatch the final cinematics if you’ve completed the episode.

There is a limit to the amount of times you can do teq in one day so the nerph on dungeons seems reasonable

We’ve said it before, but it remains true: Your voices are being heard and your input is valued.
We wish there was more to say today, but please take heart that this subject is part of current development team discussions and we’ll let you know more as soon as we reasonably can do so.

Restart the episode that made it reappear for me a lot faster than constantly re entering the instance
The dailies should be account and level based.
PVP Dailies
PVP should be based on the professions the account has mainly due to the fact not a lot of new players have 8 slots filled with each profession.
PVE Dailies
Take the highest level character into consideration when generating the list of dailies. This will give new players a chance to finish dailies that end up having to go to level 80 zones.
But you can still level your character, since daily rewards often include account bound experience. You can do the daily on anyone and just put the experience in your chest for the character you’re leveling.
Anyway, two of the dailies your lowbie could do.
So if your lowbie did the vista, and the gathering, both of which he could do, he could then go into WvW and buy with badges pretty much anything to get the third daily, without PvPing at all.
In fact, I did today’s daily on a lowbie.
Your missing the point of the op there are people who have low level characters for instance the new players who dont have lvl 80 characters to run into those zones. Its not about the exp per se but the small daily pool for newbies in the pve environment they are now forced to go to pvp or wvw to try get their dailys
Well the JP is annoying and I am sure a lot of new players will be frustrated with it its still somewhat doable in about 20minutes of retrying and a lot of kittens flying around. It would be nice if they increased the daily pool for this cause I am not a musical kinda person xD. So 30minutes of jp a day would really be annoying but I guess Ill get the hang of the jp eventually. but still it would be nice to increase the options for dailys for new players. PS wish I had my great sword to slaughter those snow ball tossing rats :P
I’ll correct you here, it will never be doable for me in 20 minutes. This JP has elements in it that I’ll never be able to do unless by accident: beams, tiny platforms and a time constraint. I’ve managed it once (no idea how anymore), but only after trying for about 2 hours.
About the bell choir, I like that one even though my keyboard is a major hindrance at it. I can’t reach the 6 with my right hand…. (MS Natural Keyboard), so healing between songs is mandatory for me, unless I get the lower/higher octave (no clue which is which, because like somebody who posted above me, I’m tone deaf and have no sense of rhythm, but unlike that person, I never was forced to follow a music education of any sort)
Well at least you have the choir bell xD Like I said the JP is hard for some people and not hard for others the last phase is about luck really and knowing some of the attack times of those dam skritt with the guns one mess up = getting rolled over by a snow balls … And the JP is doable for some in 5minutes its all about what your skilled at and an increase to the daily pool would be nice to allow people to at least finish the achievement and get the meta achievement xD

Q1: Will we still be able to get the random daily drops of black lion salvage kits and mystic forge stones etc. (Will this be rewarded in the daily login or is it completely removed from drops now)
Q2: Will the PVP achievements be account based like for instance if I only have a mesmer guardian ele warrior and engi as my characters classes will I only get the win match with x class with those classes or will it lock players out from obtaining the win a match with x class daily achievement?
Q3: By legendary crafting materials does that include precursors ?
The only thing I would like to know is the pvp wins that require you to win with a specific class what about the new people who only have 5 character slots and not all the classes that wont be able to finish those daily achievements?
I guess this topic didn’t get enough coverage from the gaming media like the gems conversion ui change, and its most likely due to the fact not many people tried out the new player experience, I only recently deleted one of my characters just recently to try see if it was really true that you only get one trait and were forced to unlock each trait by doing crazy amount of tasks turns out its true.. on a side note didnt like how you had to level to unlock weapon skills but to me it was nothing a level 20 scroll couldnt fix but really miss the old way of unlocking weapon skills.
The trait changes have got nothing to do with the new player experience.
See, you noticed it 6-7 months afterwards yourself and that’s maybe what the problem is – people didn’t realize the changes – so no outcry, no nothing until it was “too late”.Edit: The traits were changed in april, no one was talking about making the life easier for new players back then. The NPE has been introduced in september.
Yeah just looked it up and noticed there was a post about it in March. Something I didn’t pay too much attention to and yes thats the point it didn’t affect me mainly cause my toons were already made before the patch. Sad times for the newbies who have to grind the traits. Yeah looks like it is too late… but lets just hope Anet actually takes the time to review this now. Oh well again its going to make it hard for my friends to get back into the game one more thing that will make them not want to get back into the game. Oh and I think it was the fact that I could restat my traits that made me overlook the whole new players have to do content to unlock traits.

It doesnt even help new players. They have to grind to unlock the traits! I dont mind the other crap but really they only have 1 trait where is the kitten build diversity!! and freedom for the player to choose how they play that made this game so fun

I here ya on that one. 12 Exo/Asc. geared 80s (2 since 9/9) and here I am working on a 13th b/c of that sale. O.o Granted I had just got my 10k AP chest so it was basically a free slot and, thanx to XP Scrolls and Tomes, it’s a fee 80 too.

Here is why I believe Anet should take this issue more seriously. When I started the game I had 10 friends that I knew in real life playing with me. As they reached the end game they gave up on the game and moved onto other games while I stuck with it. And the reason why I stuck with the game was the freedom to play the game the way you wanted instead of having to focus on grinding stuff to get skills ect. When they introduced the reset traits option I was rejoicing because now I could do dungeons and switch my build on the fly to suite the situation I was in. That was like yay freedom to change builds as long as im out of combat! Now with the new living story updates some of my friends have returned to the game and they are starting to make toons for their accounts for the first time and I am happy they are returning but I have a gut feeling that this grind for traits will deter them from playing the game especially since they already have some dislike for the game. I am already annoyed since my friends cant test the different builds when they reach the appropriate levels right away when I am doing dungeons with them. Its such a mission now to convince them to stay in the game. Oh well thats my other two cent on this issue really hope devs take a look at this tread again and release a new patch to fix this issue soon cause I would never recommend this game to new players as this new system cripples only them. People who stuck with the game already have enough gold n skillpoints to sink into this but wont cause we have toons at max level already so.
I dont see the point of the holy trinity crap. GW2 has done an awsome job at removing the holy trinity but there are elements in the game that allow players to play those roles if they want to for instance eles are really good at buffing allies with might so I see it as a support buff (oh and they are useful because they dont just buff they can also assist in doing a crap load of damage so buff + dps why complain abt it) class and guardians n warriors are really tank depending on ur build so really the game has the holy trinity but not in the traditional sense.
And at least choose fun events to unlock traits like teq or tripple trouble. I enjoy doing the events at the temples in orr thats y I liked how u unlock the higher master tier traits. So fun events not map completions <== made me lol.
So wasn’t really sure what people were talking about with regards to the changes made to the trait system (given most of my existing low level toons weren’t affected) until my friend who just got the game told me he only had one trait atm! So you gotta unlock each trait by doing events (I thought initially this only applied to the new traits in the grandmaster). I understand they had to create some sort of gold sink hole but it isnt really fair to the new players as they will now have to grind various events to unlock certain traits so they are at least useful in the dungeon runs and other pve events (i.e. trippler trouble) this makes the game harder for new players. I think we should keep the traits unlocking by events to grandmaster tier and only the new ones added. Or at least make the gold sink hole less cause really total cost to unlock all the trait. It costs 51g60s and 432 skill points to unlock all the traits who came up with that idea. I feel sorry for my friends that have to start the game now cause they wont be able to have the freedom to test different builds that suite their playing style and will now have to grind events to unlock traits in each tier. FYI I really liked the idea that I had to do high level events for the new traits but i dont feel like new players should grind for each of the lower tiers and the master tiers.

Tbh, the carapace shoulders should be changed aswell, replaying the LS is more of a grind than actually playing silverwastes and having fun.
You can go grind in silverwaste if you enjoy it more. That was the beauty of what they offered in the last episode if you dont want to redo the story on an alt you can grind in silverwaste. But some people actually though redoing the story was fun and somewhat made it more worth doing on my alts
Its cause anet loves making players bet on their RNG system. Its silly to have it one way and change it completely in the next instalment. I can understand your confusion.
so its official no obtaining the gloves on alts when u redo the story oh well not going to redo the story then was so pointless. It was more fun to redo the story in the previous episode allowed me to get use to the mechanics now I gotta grind to get the other gloves kinda boring oh well

Very simple to add to it is by achievements. After X amounts of tequalt you get a free teq ascended box. After X amounts of lvl80 rare weapon in the mystic forge, you get a free precursor.
I prefer this method it even if people say its a grind you at least know your working towards something in the end and you would receive a reward
For me is getting a precursor from a champ bag when they first came out.
But the best would be just looking at the sky just before teq spawns the animation on the clouds ect. thats a wow moment for me and makes me wonder how many people actually just look at the sky of the world they are walking around.

Agreed I feel like we already have raid like events in gw2 for instance the tripple trouble and teq. The only thing they should do is introduce more world bosses like this and allow guilds or communities to spawn their own instance of the map so they can get the organised players into the map to do the event.
if they did this for all new recipes in the forge it would be great but the only thing they gotta do is remove the delay in hints. It built some suspense but really was a let down in terms of how the item looks.

This has always been bugging me but thought it would be a good idea to create weapons with skins that look like the precursors? Given how rare the precursors drops are the idea that there are items that look like them but actually aren’t them to me is an interesting way for devs to troll players.
wow didn’t even notice they made this change, this will the the final nail in the coffin for the majority of my guild members who are still angry about the limitations placed on new characters… why are you devs removing the freedom to play the game the way the players want to
