This is exactly why I prefer objective filters that totally prevent people from joining a group they don’t meet the conditions for.

I would prefer filters which prevent people from joining the dungeon. Just today I had to switch chars for 3 out of 4 fractal runs to be on a desired class. Because the LA loading screen takes to long i did not want to switch first join after, lost quite a lot of chances for groups that way before.
Of course some auto kick after 1 minute or so with auto repost lfg should be added, to prevent people not leaving once they cant get into the dungeon.

Another possibility would be for the filters to take into consideration all chars on an account, so if it states “ele 80” and i’m on my engi i can join. The group would know I have the appropiate class with the appropiate level just that I’m not on it at the moment.

You’re wrong. Again, it’s technically possible to never get a pre from the mystic forge, but highly unlikely after 1100 attempts.
My beef is: Why me? Why is my account condemned?

Highly unlikely? If the chance to get a pre is 0.2% it makes the change of not getting one 99.8%, if repeated 1100 times the chance of not getting any pre is 0.998^1100 ~= 0.111 or about 11% only a little less than throwing a coin 3 times and never getting head.

If the chance to get a pre is 0.1% (as said in another post) the chance of not getting a pre in 1100 tries is about 0.333 = 33.3 % about the change to get a 5 or 6 in one throw of a dice.

So yeah, it does not feel nice not getting something but your account is not “condemned”.

Cmon, AP or level filters? What we need are gear and trait filters.

What if I’m doing something different while looking for a group? Let’s say I’m running around borderlans while checking the lfg for interesting dungeon groups every now and then. Because I’m interested in giving my best at whatever I’m doing I’m not in dungeon gear/traits while in WvW but would change once inside the dungeon. I can not see any groups with those filters active. If this is a little far fetched, what if I am on a char I do not use for dungeons so it does not have the equipment/traits, maybe it’s not even level 80 (which already is a problem because you can not see every lfg on low level chars).

Group side enforced filters are a bad idea, they need to be unselectable without affecting gameplay for the searchers. But those would not help as much against players who do not want to follow the group requirements.

It’s actually bugged right now and you can just run through the door and finish that section. Furthermore, the buff you get against the boss doesn’t do anything right now. It’s all borked. ;-;

Are you sure it’s bugged? I believe it can only fail if you do not need all 4 rooms to get to the boss, which is only the case in lower fractals (<30 or <40 i believe). In those the door to the console is closed and you need to rescue all 4 npcs for it to open. If you need all 4 the door is open and you can just ignore the npcs.

A necromancer conditioner is good in Fractal??? In pvp is excellent but in pve, wvw and fractal i never see a conditioner (less necromancer conditioner roaming).

Necromancer is currently the lowest dps class in the game, and it also does not bring enough usefull group wide effects (might, vuln, reflect, stability [a little but not enough by far], other damage boosts, …). The things they do bring are condition cleanse and buff remover, still other classes are better at those. Therefore most groups will not specifically want a necro, some will even kick necros.

A Condionmancer is even worse: conditions get overwritten by other classes i.e. bleeding by a critting warrior (it’s not the weakest condition that is lost once you hit the cap, but the oldest one), some bosses periodically cleanse all condtions (think some of those are in fractals, but could be wrong), some “bosses” are immune to conditions (snowblind fractal ie) and iirc even if none of the above aply a conditionmancer deals even less damage than a power necro.

Still, if you want to play that way do so, just dont expect to be welcome in every group.

Also do not fully trust the numbers in the wiki. If you follow the link of every coin bag you get different count:
1: 2
8: 4
15: 6
22: 8
for a total of 20m still less than before, but a little better.

Just a little to the math in this thread.

It is not completly true that we get less AP with the new system. Only those of us who were not at the daily cap get less (~460/month vs ~300/month), the others get more (100/month vs ~300/month). The total time to get to max daily/monthly APhas stayed about the same:

Before it was:
365 * 12 AP /year = 4380/year to a max of 10k so 2.28 years
12 * 100 AP /year = 1200/year to a max of 5k so 4.16 years
as both yould be done at the same time it would take 4.16 years to get to the maximum and the last ~2 years it would be a slow climb as one could only get points with monthlies.

Now it is:
365 * 10 /year = 3650/year to a max of 15k so 4.10 years
so for someone starting anew it is almost the same time to get to the cap and it’s a constant growth.

For those of us with some points it is even faster as we are closer to the old daily cap (fastest would have been to be at the daily cap allready, total cap would be achievable sometime next year).

For myself the times are:
old system: ~3.1 years (i did not do all monthlies)
new system: ~1.9 years (if i do the 3 dailies everyday)

Which would basically be monitoring the end users pc’s, which to my knowledge is illegal.

Well it would not really be monitoring, they dont check what you run as a program, just if you are running X. Also now you run into the same problem anet has, you have to prove that they are reading the memory outside of their own program.

It is definitely detectable.

Doesn’t this also display HP #s above stealthed enemies heads? Getting caught using it in pvp would probably be a bad thing.

If it does this, then it is definitely bannable in PvP or anywhere.

So if I install this, anet would know? Just wanting to be sure, as it seems a great add on.

Considering I have a friend who fly hacks and no clips pretty much everyday in gw2, no.

Anet has said that they banned users for using unallowed 3rd party programs. Now who to trust? Both wont show prove. Anet not because this would make it easier for developers of 3rd party addons to circumvent anet. Your friend not because I just might be a spy for anet (not saying I am ).
Also just because they have not caught your friend does not mean that he will not be caught. I’m sure everyone here who has a driving license has at some point been stopped by police driving to fast in an area were he/she was never caught before.

you realize this form of detection is incredibly unreliable, right? Just because a program isn’t allowed doesn’t mean somebody’s using that program with gw2

It depends on the program, if it is a general use memory scanning program sure it could just be a coincidence. False alarms of that kind can be somewhat reduced if you wait for multiple findings on different days for the same account.
If the only use of the program is to read the gw2 memory it would be quite strange to have it running and not using it.

I did not say they would find out via checking if a program reads the memory, only that a program that does this would not be allowed.

And anet could find out if you have such a program running, if they know about the program and it’s “publically” available:
1. get the program in question themselves
2. run it and scan the program in memory
3. add a memory scanner to gw2 (if one does not exist yet)
4. let gw2 scan the memory for any unallowed program at random intervalls and send a message to anet if one is found.

It probably depends on how it gets its data:

First possibility: You have to haven a combat log window open and have to place a video “recording” frame over it. The program than analyzes the recording using character recognition, reproduces the log in text format and than calculates the dps from that data displaying everything in an overlay. This would most likely be allowed as you are allowed to record video and display overlays. Of course such a program would need quite a bit of calculating power.

Second possibility: The program gets its data by reading it out of the memory, calculates the dps and displays as an overlay. This would not be allowed as it is not possible for anet to check what you do in their programs memory.

As your screen also shows the spiderqueens hp and percentage I would say it’s more likely the second possibilty. Or did I miss a setting somewhere that does this?

That picture is photoshopped:

- the number of bags in use at the top left of the inventory does not show 160/160 as the bags do
- the luck value on the luck bar on the right should most likely show x/30,000 (the bigges possible luck step) cant really check this myself but the low number does not make sense

but the question what to do with luck once 300mf is achieved remains. As some recipes for luck exists they can not remove if from the droptables, so they will most likely add more recipes, a maudrey III which eats luck or a luck converter.

If I remember correctly anet somewhere mentioned this change was done to fix an exploit.

It is still possible to get in though: go into the corridor on the right and jump against the leftside wall. When I was locked out last (retraiting for more reflects/blocks) I tried to get rid of my frustration that way and was suddenly ported in. You might have to jump against every point of the wall, but there is a position where this works (or worked about two weeks ago).

Thanks for the info spoj. I should have looked a little closer into the necro skills. Added your information for the marks and wells (I believe the live siphon works on buildings if one is traited that way).

I removed CPC, not sure if the swirler is a construct or not but as i had written i find it highly unlikely that it’s affected by conditions.

I know a lot of these skills are not part of the meta and that it really does not make sense to take a condition class against a building at the moment, but i prefer to give complete information. Also a Necro could still swap to another weapon set after the swirler is destroyed.

Thanks for the video, it helps immensely.

I do not believe that everyone will watch it or know their skills enough to know which number should be bigger than 230, so i’ll go through the full skill list and try to fill it up. Some will probably be marked untested (Ring of Fire has a radius of 240 ie but i’m not sure if it counts as a sphere), Gonna take me a few minutes … done.

As of the patch on 16.3.2015 the swirlers hitbox has been changed and no way to destroy it has yet been found.

As you may or may not know, the pink stuff atop the elemental source in Snowblind Fractal (from here on called the swirler) can be destroyed without destroying the source itself. As this can be done quite fast and the aoe swirls (therefore the name) will stop to appear, the fractal gets much easier.

Because most people do not know how this can be done, most pugs do not do this. On the right class I do this myself but I do not know a way to do this with every class. I hope you, the people frequently viewing and posting on the dungeon forum, can instruct me and every uninformed player viewing this thread on how to achieve a fast swirler death with any class.

So far I know some aoes placed on the ground around the source give 2 damage numbers, these aoes deal damage to the swirler:

edit: Thanks to Taku and the work of Immortal Kingdom [King] we know that the swirlers hitbox is somewhat less than 240 units below ground and therefore aoes with at least 240 radius should hit it. I listed appropriate skills below, not all traits were considered, if certain aoes get a radius increase they could also hit it. Skills marked “unsure” do have the appropiate radius but because of their nature might not deal damage in a sphere. Also some of these skill were not tested so trust this list at your own risk

Purple Miku actually the warrior got better access:
Warrior blocks using mace+shield / axe+ sword (mace+sword would be safer, because one would have to swap sets less often, but axe allows more damage)
Mace 2 – 10s cd
shield 5 – 30s cd
sword 5 – 15s cd

these 3 skills allow a total of 6 blocks in 30s

ele blocks/reflects/invu using d/f
Air 4 – 30s cd
earth 4 – 25s cd
earth 5 – 50s cd

so about 2,8 “blocks” in 30s
adding in utilities:
arcane shield – 75s cd (0,4 in 30)
mist form – 75s cd (0,4 in 30)
earth shield (60s cd but two spawned)
skill 2 – 8s cd (3,75 in 30)
skill 5 – 30s cd (1 in 30)

so only with earth shield you would have an appropiate number of “blocks” and this will mean you will have to use 2 skills (summoning and blocking skill) in short succession and will always have to run close to the second shield to pick it up fast.

If we had the cd of mai trins shot it could be said more precisely how many skills are needed (if it is > 8s one could just keep hitting her with the shield using the invulnerability to block other damage sources).

(no cd reduction traits were considered)

Very nicely done. Not sure if other classes will have it as “easy” though, warrior probably got the best access to blocks on short cooldowns. A quick glance over the skills list only show guardians and mesmers who could have enough.

Some aspects actually make this fight easier solo than in a group:
1. It is sure who is being targeted by her shot and you wont get killed by a shot hitting someone next to you.
2. It is easier to get her to move into the lightning field because she does not switch agro 2 steps away from it.
3. Less effects on her make it easier to spot her skills.

Still great work, not sure if could do it myself.

Mai Trin Fractal Level Scaling

Just had those 2 at level 50. We started as a normal group (2 war, guard, mesmer, ele) and were surprised by how much damage Mai Trin now deals. Tried it again with the same composition but now knowing what was ahead of us: did not help much. We switched to 3x guard 2x war to use aegis against all her porting shots which otherwise instadowned all people it hit. As it is not advisable to melee her anymore (due to 8k hits against heavy armor) it took way longer than before.

If she deals the same damage on lower levels a lot of groups wont be able to finish their run. I hope this is an error.

Actually the times are 18:00 and 21:00 for Tequatl, there are multiple errors in the times given in utc. I believe these 2 times will actually be better than before, the first gives a chance for everyone who has to get up early and 21:00 is not so late that it would disturb people who get up at 6.
