Erm. Anyone else get booted from EB and now cannot access?

I only just experienced this ‘mythical’ sound bug yesterday myself and holy moses, it made me jump! (Before it made me grit my teeth.) It took sliding the systemwide sound down to 0 until I could finish my TA run, whereupon I could restart the game. Once the client shut down, the sound quit. So far, so good but fingers crossed this gets found and patched soon.

This makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. <3

I’ll throw in my vote for Yak’s Bend – by and large the invaders I’m still most fond of. During our matchups they were gracious and skilled, even especially when vastly outnumbered by either FA or by our own toasties.

This is coming from someone who dies, a lot, anywhere and everywhere and somehow, even I manage to save more gold than a lot of people. XD

Just make it a habit to hit the cross swords on your top left before logging out.

Or smack your local landlord, ISP, or power grid.

I for one am glad they implemented this change. I’m not above mist forming over the edge of a cliff to avoid the finisher (it makes me giggle then, and when others do it to me) but alt-f4 was just done in poor form. At least suicide jumping awards goodies!

This is what I as a TC player observe defending against FA. I think people took my post the wrong way, I never stated that all those strategies are unique to TC alone, of course they are not. Its just that our execution and consistency of those said strategies happens outside of just ‘WvWvW guilds’, it happens with our organized pugs and militia groups. There are often many active group composed parties (Thieves + Mesmers for e.g.) running that consist of members of various guilds (PVE and WvWvW).

That is the main difference, we spend an often lot of time not being exclusionary and acting elite within the various top WvWvW guilds instead we try to consistently up the knowledge of our pugs, everything new we learn we dont keep it as a ‘guild secret’ we share it with other guilds and even pugs. In defense, a knowledgeable group of 10-15 that knows how to deal with nearly every single scenario can do a lot against a zerg.

Before logging off, I will grab someone I know or someone new and pass on the scenarios to him, “if they try to cata wall, this is how you mortar it, if they try to treb from Stargrove you can counter them with this mortar or this treb (keep it active), make sure to keep these three pieces of siege active at the very least etc…”, this person can be a guildie, a regular or a pug that I barely know, as long as hes willing to take up the task, I trust him to do it.

Do we make mistakes? All the time. I get very peeved about losing keeps with kittenty defense. The day when CD and FA took all our borderlands we could have stopped it. Someone started the fortification upgrade before Cannons and Mortars so we lost hills because every educated player knows that mortars > fortification for defense. Now we make sure that we tell everyone about our upgrading order, inform the pugs so that doesn’t happen again.

At the end of the day if a group of four can build a regular ram and take out reinforced gates at outer bay and hills without having any response from FA because they are ‘dealing’ with the breakout event just shows to me how slow in responding their defense is. We were spotted when the gate was 50% as well, few people came trickling in but none were smart enough to just go to the inner mortar and 1 hit our ram let alone build a cata or AC instead they just wanted to fight us 4v4 and die. This shows an uneducated militia/pug force, you guys need to take more responsibility in helping your pugs than acting elitist against them.

On the same topic, I have rarely rarely seen a party of 4 or 5 from FA being able to ninja a Tower or Keep out in the TCBL without us responding in time, the few times I have seen it, it was done by the guys from ULTD who are probably the only guild in FA I respect in tactics, execution, individual skill and overall strategy. Oh and TSI is pretty decent as well.

I really hope you guys make it to T2. I’m so tired of reading this type of worthless babble from TC (I actually didn’t read it all because I could tell it was worthless and redundant after the first sentence). Yes, you guys are perfect. In addition to your perfect WvW strategy, you also seem to have an uncanny ability to watch the movements of every FA player at all times so you can post such amazingly educated criticisms on the forums. We all strive to be a server that’s way too overpopulated for the tier it’s been stuck in because it is obviously so amazingly skilled. I eagerly await the tell-all so I too can learn your secrets.

We’re not perfect. I for one think we have a lot to learn and will do so from stepping into T2. The majority of TC wouldn’t claim to be perfect and the utmost l33t0rz players.

We love to WvW and we have a tremendous amount of fun doing it. Should you have any particular constructive criticism to share on our methods you’ve observed and experienced, I personally welcome it.

Yep, we’re ready to dip our toes in T2 – even if they get gnashed off!

Just a heads up, both our servers don’t give up, and currently BG has by far the best all around coverage in WvW. They’ve taken 2 of our Asian guilds from SoR so we’re further in the hole in that regard.

You will be up against a tough fight, likely from both of us. But BG will aim to take everything overnight.

Event is skedded for 8pm EST … and present location as suggested by Appledainty is northern CD camp, but have suggested we use the lower camp at Champion Demense on CD map because it’s close to both FA and TC WP’s, has a dolyak, and seems to offer less confusion about agro-vs-non-agro — I suspect there may be issues if we all have to truck north.

Staff Water is bad, DPS is poor, staff healing scales poorly and every second in Water is a second you aren’t doing decent DPS in fire, air or even earth (if you’re condition damage spec). Every second you are doing actual DPS (i.e. not hitting stuff for 600 damage and critting for 1,200 with Water Slash) is time shaved off the fight. The difference in time to kill stuff between a full power build and a full heal build is upwards of 40%. Go test it on golems in the mists, with a full power it takes ~16-17 seconds to kill a golem while a full support build will take ~27-28 seconds. That is a big loss of DPS and during that time stuff can go wrong, shorter fight means using fewer CDs, a dead boss does no damage, etc. it can mean the difference between popping your elite skill once, twice or even three times.

We excel at putting down combo fields (we have the only water/ice fields that are weapon skills and not utility skills, the only lightning field and it’s a weapon skill, lots of fire fields, etc.) for others to combo off of and laying down AOE. Power scales the best and scales even better the more crit and crit damage you have.

Personally, as a staff user aiming for a full glass cannon DPS build I see no reason not to take 30 in both air and fire to get the most out of every point of power for maxed DPS and don’t think any talents in the other lines are worth trading for the 100 power you lose for every ten points you move from Fire or trading the 10% crit damage and ~4.5% crit you lose for every ten points you don’t put in Air. They all synergize, the 30 air makes the 300 power more powerful. I find that at least in dungeons survival is more about filling your endurance bar and removing a condition or two every now and again than stacking heal/tough/vit, at least for a glass cannon. Attacks that are dodged and conditions that are purged don’t do any damage.

This is true. I’ve rolled support more often than not in dungeons/FOTM simply because we would be lacking in support roles. I’ve never opted for a full glass cannon build (and haven’t changed traits much since hitting 80) but are there specific glass cannon builds for both D/D and Staff exclusively or do they share the same makeup?

I’ve been rocking a full set of Valkyrie (with half ruby/half beryl orbs within) and beryl jewelry but have noticed I’ve lots of room for improvement in the support area and am seeking out a dungeon set of healing armor.

Here’s where the noob in me shines. While I’ve done a fair amount of dungeon crawling, I’m terribly clueless as to where to start and which set would serve me best (ie Vit/Healing/Prec or Vit/Toughness/Healing) so I’m hoping all you brighter players can lend me a helping hand!

The zerg is nothing more than the amount of people that hook on to any given commander. More commanders..more zergs, but I will say that everytime a zerg starts to get big the Guilds start breaking off and thats really where our militia shines. You throw those guys at a target and they will siege and supply quicker than any other group of 15 guild tags.

From personal experience, a large chunk of us [TV] typically roaming EB will indeed split off if our group grows substantially. Once a strategic point is taken, as much as we love following our dedicated commanders (Zudoari, Snurff and now Minniè) we’ll often devote a squad to defense, siege and supply. (Pangloss and the ‘Alamo Tower’ are favorites of mine.) While traveling in packs may be lucrative (either gold or karma) tactical advantages are most oft in the right priority.

What happened TC? I remember liking fighting against you guys because almost after every fight someone would do a /salute or /bow. It was cool. I thought you guys were cool because you won, but didn’t try to throw it in your opponents face. Now all you do is /laugh. I haven’t seen one person do anything else. I REALLY admired your server, and started following your example and tried to show my respect to those I beat. Was it only because you guys were beating us so badly last time?

(yeah I know a few don’t represent your whole server, but the same could have been said about the good stuff. A few (quite a few) gave me a really good impression of your server. Now a few (quite a few) are erasing it).

The vast majority of our server would be embarrassed by this and actively discourage it. We don’t even support spawn camping or even getting all too near it (even when capping a keep) so for the few that’ve given you the wrong impression, it is what it is. Don’t lose faith. I’ve seen a large number of devious FA and poor sports, myself, but every server has their bad apples. No real need to lament here as we all know they exist.

Hacking and exploiting, however, please be sure to make that known.

This match has been great – let’s keep it up!

Yeah well its getting demoralizing when you are doing your best but don’t have enough manpower to make decent gains. Hope to see more Yaks out next week. We will fight on this week but all we can do is be a pest with our current turn out.

I can certainly understand (see our match up with SoR who insisted on siege camping our spawn) and so long as you keep turning out, the good fight goes on. Don’t give up! We like seeing you out in EB.

If it is any consolation, in the jump puzzle, it is slightly different. TC kills YB on sight generally, since YB will camp the puzzle or overall just be hostile. FA and TC leave each other mostly alone and in peace, jumping together side by side, unless one attacks the other. (TC cleared out YB campers a few times and then killed them in the entire puzzle for hours, while letting FA pass the entire time)

This definitely wasn’t the case when I was in the puzzle. I walked in to be greeted by 3 ballista and 2 arrow carts from FA. In the rare event (twice) I made it to the base of the ‘portal’ spot, I was absolutely swarmed by 7-9 FA at a time. I was revived twice since, made it through the last leg of the puzzle and proceeded to harry the campers with only 2-3 fellow TC meanwhile letting YB pass by. Personally, I don’t smack until smacked first. (The temporary truce in the puzzle last week was just awesome.)

Just wanted to offer a little clarity in the case these alliance rumors continue to brew.

Amnesty periods are unspoken when a bigger threat is present. Once that threat is nullified, the focus may shift.

And Nyari – once again, thanks for sticking it out on the late shift in EB!

Thanks for those of you posting updates on the score! I’m so excited to see TC leading by several thousand (though by no means does this mean a solidified win) given that this time yesterday, we were trailing by as much.

We had some EPIC battles yesterday, as the ‘hive’ split to bait and switch. Thank you to all FA who swarmed the “Alamo Tower” – we had a heck of a time trying to stay alive (we 6 siege defenders) but hung in there just long enough to allow our others to cap the keep.

For the many times we smashed into FA on the field – we were constantly given a run for our money and your zerg ate ours repeatedly.

YB – sure wish we saw more of you out on the battlefield (honorable opponents, I must say) and I’ll be out rolling the hills looking for a few of you to teach me yet more inventive ways to dirtnap. XD

Cheesing our way.. wait – my question is where did the idea of us being ‘afraid to fight 1 on 1’ come from? Because we have a large number of participants in WvW who both like to group and others who form smaller squads?

Honestly asking because I’ve been run down by mobs from both CD and YB at times (we’re talking 7 versus me) and have smashed into both servers with each of our respective zergs (which was awesome by the by).

Big shoutout to the CD and YB guys for what was quite a lengthy amnesty in the EB JP, we had fun goofing around with you guys at the top, there was quite a lot of us from each side up there in the end.

THIS. I was happily surprised upon entering the JP to see a CD Charr guarding the ledge.. I proceeded with extreme caution and gave a heads up in map to anyone entering to be on the lookout.

After having a YB pass me without incident, I tottered along the edge of a stone wall before overtaking him.. whereupon a fellow YB hopped around the edge and fired off 3 shots before realizing I was friendly. XD

Vesper (shout out) saved me loads of time and effort (see: frustration) by letting me know Ebon was on the lookout for me and to stay put. Rounding the bend, I bristled at seeing a collection of CD at the base of the portal puddle. Come to find out, I was able to waltz up and get a lift entirely unmolested.

A few more hesitant runs into CD upon reaching the chest later, bowing, waving, and cheering ensued before the dance party started. Was the largest collection of cooperative players I’d seen in the puzzle in a long time. It was unnerving but awesome. Thanks again to all who made it possible!

..still say this is the best match yet. Looking forward to meeting you all yet again on the battlefield to hone our fighters, strat and commanders further.

Let’s all take a deep breath before we fan the flame of this thread any more.

While I adore my own server and our rallied fight we’ve been waging this weekend, I personally made the commentary to my own guild mates about 1 – how strange it was to finally see all three servers converge in a fight on the field and 2 – how much I LOVED it.

To be clear, we’ve been working really hard to learn and hone our siege strategy as well as our battle tactics. We’re a proud server of our people and police our own against exploits – we’d rather win a fair fight than win by being sneaky or kicking a server while it’s down.

Ask nearly anyone in TC – by and large the most chatter I’ve heard about this match up is that everyone is so thrilled to have BOTH of you YB and CD fighting us tooth and nail to keep your points. It keeps us busy and learning.

I personally was involved in several 3 way clashes (anywhere from 5-30 people from each server) so let’s put this team up talk to rest.

Thank you all for turning out this weekend and upcoming week because THIS is the WvW I love!

I’m excited about this matchup – it’s been a mostly 2 sided fight in our current matchup (though for all of those HoDers who have shown in WvW, it’s been awesome fun to duke it out!). I’m ready to see what’s in store.

I have to throw my hat in the ring for Tarnished Coast (the Toast) – while we have a beefy afternoon presence it’s the overnight period that we tend to be a little weak in, simply from our spread of playerbase (the unofficial NA RP server).

We, however, are not to be underestimated! As we’ve shown in T3 and have a lovely cooperative and mature community that’s keen on learning fast and pursuing our wins. We’d be glad to have you as a part of our force and am sure you’d find a happy home. But wherever you end up, hope it’s an equally warm welcome and keep up the good fight!
