I did, too. Left because of bad commanders, bad pubbies, etc… The server also hates GvGs with a passion and tends to disrupt them whenever they occur. Basically, YB is a very low-skill server in the middling tiers who cares about PPT as much, if not more, than T1.

A word to anyone who does care to fight us because we do intend to GvG when we can make the time to organize it, those who are rude and carry a “GvG me bro” attitude will never GvG us. If you want to fight us fine, but if you stamp your feet and act like spoiled children we won’t give you our time.

Can we please just stop trying to make Kindled Zeal a thing. Condi damage on a class who has all of one condi and would get overwritten instantly unless you actually make a condi set. Which is beyond useless, because we only have one condi. Full circle.

As counter-intuitive as it may be, it’s actually somewhat of a buff. With the new change, you’ll get 4s of swiftness even if you already have swiftness. Before, you only got 1s of swiftness if the buff was already applied to you.

I still think that 4s is far too low for a profession that has some of the worst swiftness uptime of any class in the game. No, using boon duration runes and spamming two utilities on cooldown does not constitute good swiftness uptime.

Your stats seem fine; I would worry more about power than I would about Crit Damage at that point. Obviously, I don’t know what this build is meant for (I would recommend different things for PvE vs. WvW vs. Roaming), but I would say that you could easily get 1800-2000 power out of that Crit Damage and Crit Chance, depending on how glassy you want to be.

Here’s my experience from playing against the two servers for many months while on Maguuma.

EBay is allergic to open-field fights and builds more open-field superior siege than any other server I have ever faced in my year or so of WvW. Including T1 where siege wars is the name of the game. They also tend to beeline into structures at the first sign of conflict until their blob reaches critical mass and then they push out. Generally, they’re beyond boring to fight against and wholly unimpressive. Case-in-point: the vast majority of nights we would have to go to EBay BL, cata down and flip NWT, and then start trebbing Garrison to get any kind of response from EBay. If you didn’t do that, you’d spend all NA primetime PvDing down structures and hating your life. In their defense, they had a fairly large number of roamers during the day, which is virtually non-existent on any of the top 4-5 servers.

TC is in a weird place coverage-wise, as it has coverage beyond that of a T2 server, and yet not enough to compete in T1. It means that, half of the time, you’re in a match where the fairweather PvE players come out of the woodwork to omniblob and throw their bodies against doors. The other half of the time you fight T1 servers and the fairweathers disappear because they get tired of wiping. So, you’re left with a good core of WvW players who can get stuff done, but are destined to lose the matches. I’ve heard that TC has a solid community, although I’ve never personally experienced it.

From my personal experience, you want to pick a server whose community and playstyle you enjoy. WvW has zero reward for winning a weekly matchup, and the victor is often determined by coverage. No amount of individual skill can completely compensate for being massively outnumbered during your server’s off-hours. Even the rewards for the current leagues are destined to be hugely disappointing and generally unimportant.

If I were you, I would choose TC.

You need a minimum of 230 ranks to get both Applied Fortitude and Guard Leech, and then another 20 or so to get what are probably the only mandatory siege traits: ram mastery 1+2 and AC mastery 1. Definitely makes you want to use alts in WvW, doesn’kitten

If you’re not prioritizing guard stacks over almost everything else, I don’t know what to say to you.

With a Cleric’s staff equipped, I agree. Otherwise, no. You have to think in terms of what exactly benefits most from Healing Power. In general play with a DPS weapon set, here the main healing coefficients you run into:

Virture of Resolve – 0.75 (heal) 0.06 (passive regen)
Shelter – 0.70
Regeneration – 0.125
Heal Area (Tome of Courage) – 0.50
Altruistic Healing – 0.01
Writ of the Merciful (far better options, but some use it) – 0.075
Selfless Daring (dodge roll heal) – 1.0

If we were to look at the different cases, an increase of 200 | 300 healing power would net you:

Virtue of Resolve – 150 (heal) 12 (passive regen) | 225 (heal) 18 (passive regen)
Shelter – 140 | 210
Regeneration – 25 | 37.5
Heal Area (Tome of Courage) – 100 | 150
Altruistic Healing – 2 | 3
Writ of the Merciful – 15 | 22.5
Selfless Daring – 200 | 300

Keep in mind that you’re losing 200-300 points into a combination of Vitality, Toughness, Power, Precision, and Crit Damage to obtain these extra 200 points. Personally, I don’t think it’s worth it to lose those kind of stats to get the above numbers if you’re sitting in a DPS set. However, the perfect place to put in that extra oomph of Healing Power is in your defensive set, which should be staff. You’re not going to be bombing with your staff out; you’ll be focusing on regrouping and movement . So, as I said, since the role of the weaponset isn’t to provide DPS, it’s the perfect place to spec for Healing Power. Keep in mind, as well, that Tome of Courage adopts the stats of whichever weapon you have active. So, before you pop into Tome, swap to staff to get the extra benefits.

I guess that most of this is personal opinion and would depend on the end-user and the comp they usually play in. However, I think that it’s important to realize that guardians are expected, and fully capable of, participating in a hybrid DPS role. They’re also an integral part of bombs, especially with GS2 doing high damage with GS4 providing retal coverage and ticking damage. None of that is trivial and you’d be mistaken to not take advantage of it.

To close this wall of text, I think I’ll just say that, while Healing Power is definitely a core guardian functionality, it’s important to weigh its advantages against losses in other areas.

You wanna go for full yolo burst you’re looking at backstab with might on signet use. 4 sigs + basi venom and watch almost everyone get 1-shot. You’ll die even faster, but it’s absolutely hilarious.

Devs have posted that killing in JPs is intentional, so embrace the spirit and hit people around a bit. PvE players shouldn’t be allowed to gain PvP rewards without having to participate in PvP.

Purging Flames is bugged to only 1 condi removed. So, until it’s fixed, 30/30/10 with purging flames + SYG + HTL is better.

Yeah, fight club please. Getting into a 1v2 and then having 3-4 more JQ join in midway through is getting old fast.

Soldier armor/celesitial trinkets. Pot of lemongrass poultry/Maintenance Oils. 0/0/30/30/10 : IV-VI-XI/II-IX-XI/VI. Swap Strength in Numbers for Purity if someone else is covering it. GS(soldier)/Staff(cleric). Shelter, Purging Flames, Hold The Line, Stand Your Ground, Tome of Courage. Runes of the Soldier. Bloodlust stacks, and then either sigils of energy or stamina/resto. I prefer Energy.

That’s the build that the vast majority of higher-end WvW and specifically GvG guilds run for almost every single guard. With some more optimized gear and minor modifications, of course.

Just a few comments:

Crit only needs to hover around 25%-30% because of perma-fury. Don’t over-invest. You want close to 20k HP as a guardian. It really helps, and most people underestimate how important vitality is. Healing power is also important, albeit not too much. 500-600 is perfect, and then 800 or so with staff active.

Empowering Might is wholly underwhelming unless everyone is running it. Since you can only really coordinate this in an organized guild, Two-Handed Mastery is better in most situations.

Swap into staff before popping Tome of Courage.

Ty to Agg and NS for probably the best raid night we’ve had in a very, very, very long time.

pet bear peeked up to a very sad Justdonny. pet bear calmly assured him that most spotted SoS player turn red before fleeing, yet the Tarnished Coast hissing sloths usually exotically sigh after engaging. He had no idea what that meant; he was only concerned with distracting Justdonny. Why was pet bear trying to distract Justdonny? Because he had snuck out from Justdonny’s with the blue armor only three days prior. It was a saucy little blue armor… how could he resist?

I honestly don’t think silver would be so incredibly bad. It’d be worse than being in gold, but most of the matches wouldn’t be so massively disproportionate as to be completely unenjoyable. And, there’s the fact that the players in silver are better than the players in gold. Gold will offer endless opportunities to fight larger groups, but if you ever want a challenge from an equal number of opponents, I doubt you’ll have much luck.

Please show me where the good players are in Silver league. All I’ve seen is wall after wall of AC fire and 20-man guild groups omni-blobbing because we wipe them once or twice open-field. Almost the entirety of the GvG community is now in Gold league (FA I still consider you T2 because ily long time and SBI is going to implode spectacularly soon), so there’s really no point in being in Silver.

People don’t seem to understand that Mag really doesn’t care about winning. We want to sit in a keep and farm JQ blobs for hours on end, GvG good guilds, and have fun. None of that is in Silver league.

1) FA for the most part is a class act. Give tough fights and talk minimal kitten.

2) Mag’s also gives good fights but their pvf is overrated. Heard so many stories of it’s legendary caliber and it turns out to be the same childish i’m better then you because you suck grade school kitten like all other servers. Disappointing, was hoping for more.

You’re way over-investing into Toughness; I personally aim for 3100-3200 as an absolute max. You can probably eek out another 3k-4k health, 25% crit damage, and more healing power for synergy with pretty much every aspect of the Guardian class.

Super fun fights in Mag BL from SBI. We had a lot of good fights with RET from FA. Everything was super exciting, and the fights kept coming!

Although [Ark], you guys do great feints. We just wish you had actually fought us, instead of feinting over and over again, and then running away when we moved towards you.

Anywho, super depressed that our PPT has hit so high. We were all super close in score at the start, and the leade was shifting to each other so often. It was a blast.

Hope we have a lot more fun fights. Just wish we didn’t dominate at this hour. No fun for anyone.

Ark maxed out at 20 people tonight. Got difficult dealing with a 40-man of SBI and FA rolling around, so we were trying to force a split to kill half of your blob in one bomb. Worked quite a few times, too.

Honestly, you can’t really deride people for bandwagoning what with the failure that are the WvW Leagues quickly approaching. Mag will undoubtedly get it’s fair share of bandwagons if we end up missing the ticket into Gold League, which is too bad. I mainly dislike that bandwagoning and over-stacking tiers makes WvW a really kittenty place to be for weeks on end until the bandwagon explodes and a new candidate is chosen.

More or less, yes. Shield offhand provides an AoE pushback/absorb with a burstable heal and conal protection application. So long as you use the skills intelligently, I see no reason why it can’t be as viable as Focus. Also, keep in mind that Sword/Focus for WvW would only be in solo to small group roaming contexts. It’s not viable at all elsewhere.

I’d also like to emphasize that most of this discussion is about effectiveness. If you really loathe an entire playstyle, there’s no sense in forcing yourself to play it. However, you have to be aware that you’ll be called out and potentially kicked from groups.
