Honestly, you’d be find picking any race except Charr. I’m not aware of any single armor set that looks outstanding on a Charr. Passable, maybe, but not outstanding.

Sylvari Necromancer Selection Armor?

If you could post a picture of the armor, it’d probably be a bit more helpful. Gender, as well.

If you mean this photo: http://demajen.co.uk/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/necro.jpg, that’s T3 top, T1 pauldrons, Order of Whispers pants, T1 boots, and I’m not quite sure about the gloves.

How to equip?

in Necromancer

Posted by: Boonprot.6274

Boonprot.6274

I’d say Soldier, Berserker and Rabid are very popular sets for the necromancer.

You should watch some gameplay videos on minion master first before going head first and deciding ’that’s what I want’ because it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.

What is used in dungeons?

Powermancer, Conditionmancers, and Hybrids. I would advocate strongly against Minion Masters because of horrible AI and generally being outclassed by other necro builds.

If you’re expecting to make money off of grinding your face off, you’re sorely mistaken. Even back when the droprates were better (I define this as before the Unidentified Dye droprate nerf… into oblivion), the best way to make money was via dungeon speedclears. Specifically Arah, before it got nerfed.

Want to make money currently? Run an AC full clear, farm CoF P1 speedclears, CoE P1/P2, HotW P1, CM P1, SE P1/P3, and TA full clears. You’ll get at least 1g per path at 0 DR and, in the case of CoF P1 speedclears, 40-60s per run at maximum DR with the amount of Molten Cores and Lodestones that drop. Just a bit of a disclaimer, however, I haven’t had time to pop into a CoF P1 farm yet this week, and I’m not sure about what they changed in there. You will, however, need to be a Guardian, Warrior, or Mesmer for them.

Now, to bring my post more on-topic, I have horrid RNG in all ways, shapes, and forms. 7 fractals last night, 1 rare. Couple of guildies came out with at least 7, another ended up with 16. Despite my usually horrid luck, I still own 2 full sets of T3 cultural armor, and 3/4 of a Legendary. Mostly because I know how to farm dungeons.

Unfortunately, you can’t draw any proper conclusions without a sufficiently large population to draw from. If you want to start to investigate droprates in areas you perceive to be abnormally low, you should start logging your drops in a spreadsheet, otherwise it’s simply anecdotal evidence.

I hope you don’t mind, Boonprot but I followed your directions and I couldn’t help but take a few screens myself. I can’t believe I walked past such an obvious opening so many times! Kind of makes me wonder how many other hidden-in-plain sight places there are to be found in the world.

My Ele in T3/T2/T1 mix. The shoulders are T1 and I am now in two minds about whether to actually get the T3 ones or not as I kind of like the look. I also like the bare arm look of the T2 gloves so I am keeping those.

Don’t mind at all I left the directions a bit vague because discovering that place was probably the most enjoyable thing I’ve done in GW2 yet. It really is a beautiful little nook. I also really like your dye. I’m a sucker for deep purple and red dye schemes.

The most recent picture of my elementalist, Sakaiya.

oh my! Where was that? I don’t recognize the background; I really really like it!

It’s a hidden room in The Grove on the bottommost floor. You reach it via a secret passageway in the northernmost section of the floor. Probably my favourite place in the entire game.

I made a sylvari necromancer a few days ago; only took me 6 tries to get the right look/glow combination, LOL! Decided to purchase the T3 cultural light armor and oh my god. It is BY FAR the most amazing armor I have ever seen. It dyes fantastically, looks amazing, and the detail! Whoever designed it deserves all the praise in the world. Come to think of it, all sylvari armor is exceedingly well put-together.

Naturally, I went nuts on the dyes mixing and matching and here are a few (lol) of the combos I’ve found. Unfortunately, I’m only level 9 and can’t wear the headpiece (I chose T2) nor the shoulders yet.

1/4 DB v Yaks v EB

in WvW

Boonprot.6274

Man, and I thought BP was bad for camping puzzles. There’s a big group of Yaks dedicated to camping the EB JP daily. I’ll be happy when we move out of this tier, hopefully in the right direction.

~ Kovu

What you normally see is myself and 2-3 other guildies breaking through the group of horrid DB or EB players sitting at the top of the arena so we can get our daily free siege. We usually stick around for 15-20 minutes so that the stragglers in the puzzle can get safely in, and then leave. I’m actually fairly sure YB camps the least out of the current matchup. [nevr] and [cor] are currently sitting at the top of the puzzle with 10-15 players, two arrow carts, a ballista, and a few other placed blueprints in the distance. That’s only what you can see from the spawn in, too. DB’s no better, but with them it’s never any one particular guild. Just a constant stream of guardians and hundy warriors.

But you know what? That’s ok. You’re taking up server slots from players who would be contributing to the siege and wasting supply/blueprints on a puzzle that’s filled with PvE players.

Before some kid says it, no, I’m not mad. I can actually make it past your zergfest quite easily, thanks to buggy walls and the SB 5 skill.

Edit: Lots of YB players DCed from EB, as well. Except I got an instant queue back in >.>

Just to add to the discussion. This bug triggered in W3 last night and was only resolved by exiting the client (as many have stated before me). However, upon starting the client this morning, my sound inside GW2 was completely non-existent. Took re-installing my sound drivers to get it to work again. Note that the sound was fine outside the client.

January Monthly Achievement

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Boonprot.6274

Boonprot.6274

I see so i guess if you cant do your monthly they will close your account? What monsters they are!

So ya i think this is going to happen every month it will changes but there will always be a sub group of ppl who will not like it.

See, these are the sorts of posts that should be getting infractions, but never do. This poster has contributed absolutely nothing to the discussion at all, and has very blatantly trolled me. I’d like to see a moderator deal with this post, but I won’t hold my breath.

Again, since you didn’t read the post the first time: I myself don’t mind running Fractals, but plenty of other people do. And a lot of players quit the game because of the update that Fractals helped introduce. It is extremely unwise for the dev team to keep forcing people to run Fractals when they don’t want to. If players feel like they’re being railroaded into something they don’t want to do, they’re not going to do it, they’ll just stop playing.

This isn’t one of those “people are always gonna complain” things, there is no legitimate reason for Fractals to still be on the monthly achievements list. It made sense in November because it was part of the update, and you could argue they were still trying to push it in December. But it’s now January. And in fact, keeping it on the list violates their promise of not being forced to run dungeons at endgame. “But you’re not forced to do achievements”, you say. Sure you’re not….if you’re a hardcore player. If you’re a casual player, this is your primary means of keeping up with the folks who farm the game like they’re possessed. Daily and monthly are the easiest way for you to get karma and forge tokens. So yes, if you’re a casual, you’re being “encouraged” to run something you may not want to run just to keep up with other players, and that makes it a violation of the “no grinding dungeons at endgame” promise.

I would love to hear a real reason why Fractals should stay on the monthly achievement list. Let’s have it.

I hate it when people throw around the term “casual.” I consider myself a casual player, and yet I have multiple level 80 chars who are all geared in multiple sets of exotic armor, and have very expensive armor/weapon skins. I also run dungeons, albeit not religiously, and I do a healthy amount of sPvP/tPvP/W3. Your definition of casual is either the exceedingly casual, in which case they should not even be considered in this discussion, or the outright lazy, in which case they should not even be considered in this discussion. Furthermore, what does a casual do, exactly? They cannot do Dungeons, because apparently that’s too hardcore. They must not map zones, because that would gain them very easy gold, thereby allowing them to purchase any missing Mystic Coins they may lack. Events must be out, as well, because that would mean gaining Karma and Gold at an even remotely reasonable rate. Do they sit in zones all day and stare at the scenery? Please, do enlighten me, because I’m obviously missing something.

Finally, no free Jugs of Karma are going to enable you to keep up with the “hardcores.” They are the people who farm Penitent Path like it’s their calling. They probably gain thousands of times more Karma per month than a “casual.” So why, again, would a few extra Jugs per month impact anything?

To answer your last question, because it’s a component of PvE. The monthly achievement is meant to encompass a wide variety of PvE-related content. Just so happens that Fractals are considered PvE content. I’m sorry that you dislike Fractals, but if you seem to despise it so vehemently, maybe you should forego this month’s achievement.

The second I saw the new monthly achievements, I knew people would be whining and moaning over it. None of the jumping puzzles are particularly difficult. Furthermore, there are 42 jumping puzzles, including the 4 found in W3. That’s a grand total of 38 non-PvP JPs you can do, which happens to be 8 over what is required. Don’t even get me started on the kids whining about having to get kills in W3.

People complain too much.

GW2 PVP Worst I have ever played.

Boonprot.6274

I know I just didn’t read an OP glorifying Aion’s PvP. Aion hasn’t had decent PvP since they nerfed the Core. Silentera Canyon was passable, but otherwise it was a zergfest. Also, most assassins were bad in Aion. There were only a few phenomenal ones like Rheeza, Kerplop and Feel. Don’t even get me started with the inherent gear differentials dictating most battle outcomes.

There is thought involved in combat, you just apparently lack it? Learn animations and trends in player behaviour. All of a sudden those block skills of yours aren’t so useless. Learn how to bait stuns and time your bursts/cooldowns. Oh look, you’ve become a more effective player almost instantaneously.

At least GW2’s PvP has mechanics other than “rally the zerg and slam your face against a fort so you can take the eye and lock the opposing faction out for easy key farming.” Personally, I think intelligently defending a point is far more interesting and involved than the dull crap Aion has to offer.

So, if I’m reading this thread correctly, a handful of players are atrociously horrid at this game (really don’t understand how, it’s simple as can be to eek out a passable score), and are now crying for nerfs. They also seem to want to never see such an event again. There’s no need to rain on the entire community’s parade because of your ineptitude. It’s the Clocktower all over again. If you took hours to complete it (or failed to complete it thereafter), you’re just really bad at jumping puzzles. Sorry, but it’s the truth. At least this time ANet provided more achievements than are required for the title, so you can forego the ones you don’t like.

To be fair, the Clocktower was a lot more than a few people, and even people who completed it were irritated.

This does seem to just be a few people who aren’t optimizing their play before complaining.

Well, I don’t want to derail the thread with more Clocktower discussion, but I still think people were grossly overreacting.

Bells are easy. 1-4 on your left hand, 1-6 on your right. You should be able to complete the first two to three songs very easily, and then at least stumble through the remaining ones.

Nope, not too easy. I’ve spent about 3 hours on it, and the best I’ve managed is to be flattened by a giant snowball.

Really? I got it on the second try. My first failure was only because I wasn’t sure what the easiest path to take on the presents was. Actually, the vast majority of people I’ve met/talked to in guild/friends list/map chat all completed it in no more than 10 tries. That said, when I went back to re-do it for fun, I noticed a very high increase in lag, which caused me to die twice. Still completed it easily, though.

Sanctum of Rall vs Yak's Bend vs Gate of Madness 10/12/12

in WvW

Posted by: Boonprot.6274

Boonprot.6274

Personally, I’ve opted not to turn my commander on for the rest of this week. This is not WvW.. I don’t know what this is, but its not fun. There is no strategy, no tactic…

" Oh look there’s one red tower on our completely blue map, lets go zerg it."

Not my definition of WvW. No offense to Yaks or GoM, but its equally demoralizing to those who do try on SoR when our enemies take the back seat.

While I appreciate your… concern(?), that’s quite the backhanded comment there. YB isn’t purposely trying to ruin your WvW experience by being submissive. We just happen to have a lot of problems that I doubt will get resolved over night. Chief among them is the general lack of knowledge our players seem to have. Why on earth would you take a tower, only to leave it poorly defended with no supplies and no defensive siege equipment? I’m not quite sure, but it’s certainly a common occurrence. What’s worse is that people also deem it necessary to re-supply themselves from a keep with 100-200 supply. Drives me nuts, and every time I point this out, I often get called an elitist kitten in team chat. Really frustrating. Couple this with our server’s abject lack of organization and flaky participation and you get the current state of YB.

I’d also like to point out (as I did in the GW2Guru thread) that to completely write off the contribution of your server’s transfers is grossly misunderstanding the situation. You’ve taken a good number of well-organized and competent guilds from the top server and added their numbers to the already better-organized-than-YB SoR. There’s nothing wrong with these guilds transferring or participating in WvW, that’s how the system is designed. There is, however, something wrong with continually advertising your martyrdom whilst shouting “try harder!”

SOR will get hit hard next week, and we will lose some players. I think we will get balanced out as a result.

There is something fishy with the queue system. Yaks should not have any queues base on the numbers I saw last night. Let’s hope that anet looks into the queue system. If its broken, it’s bad for the game.

Yaks – you fought us very well for a few weeks. I wish transfers were more difficult, but I can’t trash those who joined our community.

Well there’s a name I haven’t seen in a good while. Hello to you, good sir!
