Should we be respectful? The past matchup threads have been filled with moaning and completely and utterly unfounded hacking accusations. Apparently, when you began losing, it was more logical to accuse Maguuma of hacking, as opposed to improving your server’s playing. The sooner that KN realizes that it isn’t a T2 server any longer, the better they’ll be for it.

If we want to talk hacking, a player from an unnamed guild on an unnamed server managed to attack our zerg with an AC while we were in the Lord’s Room of an unnamed garrison. We had just broken through inner watergate and were clearing out the circle. The AC in question was placed on the easternmost ledge outside of the watergate. There was no way that the player manning the AC could have angled his camera to view through the downed gate. Then, a ranger in a specific guild on an unnamed server somehow manages to teleport around inside our keeps and attack siege. This is not a case of failing to sweep, as we had held these keeps for hours and hours previous to the mysterious siege deaths.

THOSE are true cases of hacking, and not an L2P siege placement issue that sparked the entire “Maguuma = Hackzuuma” debacle.

Then, we’ve had two different players, one a commander in one of our WvW guilds and the other a close friend of mine, who have gotten mass reported and banned for botting. Except neither of them bot and were auto-banned due to the volume of reports. This, too, came from a Kaineng guild.

Then, pile on top of all of this Sol’s incessant whining and you have our matchup threads in a nutshell. I personally think that Maguuma has been given ample reason to be unkind.

I think I’ll post my time on kaineng, I transferred maybe a month ago to the server to play more Spvp with some friends and because their guild ran zerg buster, kaineng dropped into mag’s tier the next week. I expected to be called a spy, once or twice, people to be hesitant and I play EU time, which is a pretty weak spot in most server’s timezones, maybe I’d have been a godsend, a disgusting godsend maybe but a godsend none the less.

My first day on in this tier went okay, I started off roaming in EB, and then some people started to follow me shrug So I pop my tag on and start leading an attack, great! Actually being able to do stuff on one of the first days I joined the server! 5 minutes later some great person spams, iirc the following in chat ‘’COLHEARTH IS MAG SPY DON’T FOLLOW OR U DIE’’ Okay…I was kind of expecting something similiar to happen so I tried to explain that I’m not a spy and if I wanted to spy why would I wear my darp tag with my icon on, at which point I was told I was a terrible spy….Thanks. At any rate map chat became a roar of ‘’Dat colherth is an spy’’ So I lost anyone following me and turned my tag off…How open of kaineng to accept transfers, transfers who hadn’t moved server since bwe1 and had purely played wvw for over a thousand hours, man.
Rinse and repeat, I joined this server to help out, I couldn’t care less about the score and all I wanted were some good fights against some buds, I managed to get one or two fights before being ousted as the worst spy in the history of forever. The same happened my whole time on kaineng, I decided it was time to transfer home when I got mass reported by XF for being a spy and using up supply and buying upgrades we didn’t need….while dancing, while they were near and insulted me for dancing….
Even though I was already here, I would have stayed if I’d enjoyed it more than mag, I get ousted, someone with more experience than most of your pugs. Even though I was a turn coat my guild funded my return, thanks <3

PS kaineng, you have the worst intercommunication I’ve ever seen. You need to work on that…Seriously.

So, KN is a cesspool of bile and hatred and the sooner they fall to T4 the better. Got it. Yet Maguuma is always poked at for having a “malicious” community. Tbh, Mag has one of the best, if not THE best, WvW communities of any server. All the guilds know each other, are friendly with each other, and work together. It’s part of the reason why we’re one of the more stable servers in the game.

The jumping puzzle is, and should remain, a PvP zone. 500 badges takes absolutely no time to acquire if you WvW. I’m so sorry that you can’t take the easy way out to get your legendary. Pity, really.

Might be easy for you, but I ain’t no pvper, never was and never will, so I just hang ‘round commanders and follow the lead. I am an engineer with non glass cannon build and I like healing, meaning my badges do not come easily neither quickly. Running small groups, running zergs, I can get about 10 a day. If I am lucky.
And no, I ain’t got several hours a day to run WvW. I’ve got a family to tend to and I’ve been working on my legendary for months.
Even if I did only the jumping puzzle every day (which I don’t), it’d take me around 40-50 full days to get them badges.
People weren’t even complaining about that. They were, including me, complaining about enemy mesmers pulling us down the spawn spot often before you even load the screen, which ain’t by no mind fair.

No, I think it’s fair. It comes along with the PvP aspect of the JP. Also, it’s easy to get badges as an engineer. Equip a grenade kit and tag things.

It appears mag is trying to artificially boost Kain to rank 2 past Yaks. I say this because Mag has been attacking only Yak territory while ignoring Kain territory. So much so that Kain is pushing into Mag territory with zero resistance.
On Kain BL mag has skipped their own greenlake tower and went straight to take redbriar from Yaks. A little while later Mag is sitting on all Yaks territory in EB while ignoring Kain’s side of EB completely.

Yaks and Kain were tied this morning with 270 pts each tick and as of now Kain is at 230pts (Mag has to have SM) and Yaks is as low as 125 pts. Our populations are of comparable size but Mag is chewing up Yaks while propping up Kain.

We focus YB 100% of the time, obvs.

That screenshot is old, 3-4 days old. Just look at the points, this screenshot was taken when Mag had just gotten far ahead of the other two worlds, at the time when the southsun event started. So it’s no surprise that the points aren’t balanced when everyone is crab grabbing.

I’m talking about today, the last day before reset. Mag slammed Yaks this morning and virtually ignored Kain. There’s a 2500pt window now between Kain and Yaks and they almost caught up but their population is hitting its deadzone so there’s little chance they’ll be able to pass Yaks now.

No, that was early yesterday morning/late wednesday night. I’d stop looking to blame Maguuma for your server’s problems and figure out the real reason why your server is struggling. Hint: the weekend warriors are part of your problem. Figure out how to get them to play during the week, and you’ll do much better.

It wasn’t just that one garrison though. It was all 4 maps. We had +0 points. That means Maguuma must have vastly outnumbered and out-coveraged Kaineng.

The commander that runs our karma trains decided to do a train late last night (they’re usually run during the daytime, at the end of SEA primetime and the beginning of EU), so they held all of KN BL. No, it wasn’t a full queue zerg. Probably 30 people. PYRO and ME held EB with another 30 or so, and kitten held our own borderlands with idk how many. Probably 10-15. That was the extent of our coverage last night.

Edit: Before you say it, a couple of ACs at the keeps and we wouldn’t have been able to flip them. Considering you need 3-5 people on keep defense to be successful, so it wasn’t a numbers game.

This is not the Maguuma I remember back in Oct/Nov last year and even through Jan. Back when Maguuma had monthly Boot Camps and a friendly team work oriented communit, just seems different now.

Yeah, I’m gonna go with the “nothing has changed” tact here, too. The same guilds that have been WvWing since Jan are still WvWing, albeit with different numbers and new faces in some places. I don’t think it can be stated enough that Mag’s WvW pop is 100% consistent throughout the week. We have the same guilds and the same people playing during reset as we do on Wednesday night.

We’re still a very, very friendly server. We just like to kittenol on the forums. You can’t exactly take our T1 Forum Warrior pop and extrapolate it to represent the server as a whole. If that was the case, your entire server would be represented by Chips and Sol. I don’t think anyone wants that.

Know what the best part about bandwagons is? They collapse spectacularly.

KN, pls don’t take our Garrison. Bad things happen.

I frequently see people boasting about wiping Maguuma in Eternal, which is fine, because nobody really goes into eternal for organized guild raids. Most of the people in eternal are goofing around or karma training (at least on mag.)

But IF you want to anger Maguuma/ actually boast about wiping Maguuma, you’ll have to do it in a borderland. Otherwise it’s easy for us to shrug off the fact that you were in EB, where we have very little coordination.

We have little to no coordination in EB because your guild (and many others) run from it as if it was the plague. Who do you think is going to pick up the slack in EB now that Zero is gone?

My guess is no one.

That is a problem the whole server needs to work towards fixing.

See, the problem with EB is that the kids whinge and moan when commanders don’t karma train and constantly berate them because they’re not “enough like Zero.” Zero, for 5 nights in a row, would sacrifice a fully defended, mostly upgraded Stonemist to save a couple of paper towers. Other times, he would port into a borderland, drain a fully upgraded keep with full supply to 100-300, build golems, and fail to take anything. Not to mention the apparent inability to instill any knowledge of tactics or discipline in the pubbies he commanded. Why you would want to command like Main EB Commander is beyond me.

We’ll get competent commanders in EB teaching everyone proper siege placement, tactics, and discipline, and EB will actually become a map that the main WvW guilds are interested in defending.

tl;dr: People avoid EB like the plague because it was usually filled with belligerent ignorance. More could be done by holding keeps in enemy BLs, so we went there.

pyro, mad, war, de/rp are some of the big ones. There are other smaller ones that are mixed in as well. On YBBL de/rp’s presence alone is as large as the 4 yaks guilds working together on that map.

I think you’re mis-estimating that, because I’m on YB atm (albeit working). And we tend to only run in that size on weekends. I would be surprised if PYRO and WaR reached 40 consistently, no idea about MAD.

I think PYRO hit 50 people a couple reset nights ago, but we run with 3 MAYBE 4 full groups when we do WvW. That’s why, on reset, we had a hard time competing with the full queue RE zerg on Mag BL. ME, WaR, PYRO, and DFND were all on the BL, but we each only pull 20 people. That would also be why we didn’t push your trebs during your arrowcart and treb creep on WK. You could afford to leave 20 people guarding the trebs while the remaining 60 go to flip camps, when we only had 17 or so PYRO guarding inner. Exceedingly difficult to defend two paper keeps against a full queue zerg of RE and a full queue zerg of YB (I think it was CL/RAM at reset?).

No, Kyra was down at both fair-ish 1v1s, like I said, you guys were trying to single me out purposely while I was preoccupied — it does not take any skill to do that. Backstab + shatter which i was able to get away from most of the time. I dont think I died 12 times, but if i did, it was out of 35 attempts to get me.

I am glad you cared enough to keep a tab though…

k, whatever you say. Also, I don’t think I was running backstab at the time. S/D + SB venomshare, iirc. It was far less than 35. We had at the worst a 50% chance of downing you. Usually depended on if you could blink back into your zerg to hide or not. As the fights went on, you sat in the middle of your guild and it made it harder.

As to the last part, we turn it into a game. Recently, we discovered that there is a mesmer in the guild [Bark] who looks like a cheap version of Kyra. Now, we single her out every time she pops up and make sure she dies. It’s fun and a nice distraction from protecting supply camps and yaks when the CL or KN zerg isn’t running headlong into our garrison farms.

Know what the single most powerful trend in GW2 is? That bandwagon servers always collapse. HoD, SoS, Eredon, IoJ, SBI, Kaineng. All have experienced population surges as they push up the ranks, followed by mass transfers and ranking collapse as the WvW guilds transfer to a new server. The current bandwagon is Blackgate. Soon, Blackgate will collapse and we’ll begin the cycle anew.

Why on earth would you want to continue the cycle and promote server badwagoning. It’s absurd.

Man, fighting PYRO feels like a 70 hr workweek. I’m the suicidal eng who been flitting around KN BL a good bit of the day and seems every time I turn around, there goes another one. LOL I was at garrison water gate a bit ago and had a PYRO sylvari run past me. They’re everywhere, I tell ya… :P

We tend to go wherever we’re needed. In this case, it’s KN and occasionally Mag BL. Gotta say, however, that Garrison in KN is a ton of fun right now.

Just got stomped out of all our keeps in Kaineng Borderlands after spending the whole night retaking it and then spending gold on upgrades. Maguuma zerg was at least 30 strong and went through the reinforced gates like hot knife through butter. And since all of the keeps were being upgraded, there were little to no sieges left. That and being outmanned meant that we could do little to stop the tsunami of blue. My party of 4 and a handful of other players died fighting.

Sucks to be outmanned.

That’s cause KN has a higher number of ppl with jobs, school, etc. A lot of us have RL stuff through the week. Though, I do know we have some putting in a lot of WvW time just to keep green in our BL or EB.

Every time someone posts this argument it blows my mind at how stupid it is. What horrid logic.

KN and YB lose after the weekend because their weekend warriors go back to PvE. Plain and simple. Mag’s WvW population stays the same throughout the week. ME, D|ERP, WaR, DFND, PYRO, NOVA, etc… all field similar numbers each and every day of the week. We don’t have an inflated weekend presence, and we don’t really have that many fairweathers. That’s why we always lose on the weekends and pull ahead during the week.

D and P seem to take wvw seriously, they hop maps to take a quick keep and get that PPT. At least as far as I can tell. They were a big reason maguuma was getting a lot of points Monday-Thursday.

Its best to get some scouts on your BL and get a response force ready when “D|ER”-P/PYRO are out. You stop them at the first keep and they might seek a softer target.

If the alternative is to slam your face against a keep with 15+ ACs guarding every gate, why wouldn’t you move on?

Commanders can drop far more than 1-2 flame rams every 30 minutes. Not quite understanding the purpose of this suggestion.

That’s not been true for months. The people we have on reset are the same people we have every weekday, which is why we gain during the week. We had outmanned on 3 borderlands just 4 hours after reset, and had to basically give up 1 borderland pretty soon after reset.

We’ve lost reset/weekend for the last… 6-8 resets? It’s not that big of a deal. WvW is a measure of how many people are online for your server.
