Allucard was right. At 54 or 60 it start to tick 200k+ (and 3 ticks), there’s no way you can keep a dude from dying. Necro 2nd health bar yes, with 2 or 3 guardians timing their tome full heals, other classes can forget about it.

Just bring a ranger, problem solved. Join our guild when you 60+, we got ranger.

you can play 1 class at 70+ does not mean you could play another at 30+. Wholelot of you would be crying IMBA if we could rejoin on maw with alts, even if only 80 alts. Majority of the 60+ guys have multiple 80 alts.

Make a guardian and bring him to 40 or 50+ fractal, then you are the one choosing your dungeon, people say no can go find others to carry them. You do what you want, isn’t that betta?

We’re always working on ways to keep people from trolling and exploiting others. We recently made it so that the party leader can’t leave the group and kick everyone out without his instance being destroyed, so this is just the latest iteration in people trying to abuse other people. I will alert our programmers to this if they are already not aware.

group leader still has ultimate pull/say in these matters since he could just leave group and destroy the instance. For example, forcing a votekick on player(s), making it if or he resets the dungeon, that isn’t against any anet rule of conduct now is it?

And what Timze said, that you can’t kick a leader, or you reset the dungeon. Is that really necessary?

Should we just make it votekick = reset dungeon so it’s fair for everybody?

I remembered people summoning them (back around Halloween time) and everybody in the party were able to use them. Or maybe someone linked a perma but used a normal one?
Anyway, someone pointed out in fotm yesterday that they couldn’t access the merchant.

Is this anet’s way of slowing down our progression?
After this whole time refusing to fix the no rejoining issue
After all these bugs causing crashes not getting touched in fractal dungeons
After introducing more problems with each and every patch
it came down to shutting down overflow entry and stop us doing fotm all together?

This happened quite often and it had something to do with the casting done before switching to air (the crash seemed to happen always during the air attuned phase with staff). It wasn’t all that annoying since it only meant restarting the client, but now with FOTM not allowing rejoin, it had definitely became an issue. I had experienced this crash 4 times now in 4 different FOTM maps, definitely has nothing to do with map or graphics (had switched between graphic settings).

Maybe if we were allowed to rejoin FOTM dungeon…

majority of the issues are with the GW2 client, and not players’ hardware or connection. When conditions are met, the client crashes. I can replicate an elementalist crash (by switching attainments and spamming certain skill combos) and the crash can happen in WVW, dungeons, fotm, anywhere.

These crashes, given annoying, weren’t big problems, just start up the client again and rejoin, and try not to do those things unless absolutely necessary. It is however, a whole different animal when comes to fotm, since crashing meant resetting yours, as well as your party’s entire progression (at higher levels).

I can see why they are having trouble fixing this. The instance/dungeon is created on the home server of the player who initiated, and all the players in the party were temporarily tagged to that server (a temp session ID or w/e), and allow players to go from one server to another freely and individually (which is essentially what a fix would call for) is a whole new set of protocols and probably not exactly simple to implement.

Regardless. This issue really needs to be fixed, however easy or difficult that would be.

they left no info of which name was in violation and need to be changed though. And I wasn’t aware that there was a process to change account names (other than that anet can reassign a name to your account).

My account was suspended for 72 hours from inappropriate character name and I do not know if this is because of the account name or the names of the toons (some my toons have the last name “cleavage”, double meaning I guess….)

I wasn’t aware that these names were in violation of anet’s policies, and I had used them in other games I previously played as well as registered them for gw2 when I first started, during the headstart weekend.

I’m willing to change these names to other desirable names that are not in conflict with anet policies, but unaware that there was any way to do so. Will need a little assistance here if possible.

alpha is silly if you wanted it to be. so is lupi, so is everything else in this game. Nothing is hard if your group fully understood the mechanism in play… excluding pvp of course.

back onto the topic. they should make it so you can trade your current dungeon gear back for ascended gear (or tokens) if the goal was not to make a gear grind out of this thing. because as it stands, everybody need to grind dungeons, and if nothing changes, then most people will be doing AC across 3 or 4 toons till everything they had was transmuted into new set of gear (or tokens for that gear)

well, some of the ascended gear might be drops, not traded or crafted, and 8% per stat is a big margin, especially counting offensive and defensive attributes that build to more or less around 30% of improvement.
and even if no ascended gear will ever be drops (you’ve gotta be pretty kitten to believe that, but hey…), just the fact that the “more rare” ascended items (those omni thingy) will need to come out of higher tier of the fractal and therefore you will NEED to grind your ascended gear from first tier till you can go up anyway.

So, TL:DR version

Get ready to grind out this thing tier by tier, or get srsly facerolled by people with the 30% on you.

this is PERFECT. gear progression introduced in stages, and already existed BIS are protected.

As many as there are QQing about gear progression, there are a lot of us had seen this coming from the get go and had been waiting for it. Skin grind just isn’t enough.

Next up hostile players and duels. Then the game would be perfecto.

and revive orb has about the same drop rate as merchants, I get one in 15, sometimes 20 chests I find 1 revive orb. Those things are better bought straight with gems if you are looking for them.

nah, the transmute stone has just about the same drop rate as anything else from BLC, around 1/10, and each time you get a ton, 10 or w/e number. I have 200 some transmute stones they are absolutely useless.

holloween skin drop rate around 1/100, little higher for the shoulder and rifle skins but they don’t worth anything (i want to say 1:20 or so odd).

MF and karma booster about 1/5, other boosters might be bit higher rate.

repair canister has much higher drop rate than other accessories. Lowest being merchant, probably 1/10 that of canisters.

My suspicion is that salvage kits have same drop rate as booster but I don’t get 1 in 5, maybe 1/10. some other people i know get them more.

the chance to get permanent / reusable items is probably 1/500, if not 1/1000. If you are opening any number less than 500 chests at a time, you are not guaranteed a permanent item.

People need to realize, there is no such thing as pure night capping. You’re playing on a server that anyone from all around the world could be playing on. Your perception of ‘night time”, IS their daytime. To others… you are the night cappers. Understand?

you can load that wide wide FOV from arah. The client switches to the view once you start the giganticus lupicus fight, and it would stay like that as long as you don’t restart your client. switching toons does not affect this and it’s much much much better to play wvw with the ultra wide view.

squads come and go and map/team reach more people. switching between squad and map/team also wastes time.

we had overlook in between our teeth and lost it… It was a lot of efforts to take veloka and ogrewatch under heavy pressure from both JQ and SBI, and it was really a tactical error…

So, JQ has this unique way of defending. They conserve a number of AE classes till the gate goes down, then AE the crap out of the doorway.
Like always, we bum rushed in after inner gate went down, and the zerg basically got wiped at the doorstep.
It would of been ok if it was elsewhere on the map, but overlook’s setup is to break reinforcements, and our 2nd wave could not get in in time, gate started to close, the attempt was a failure in the end.

We (the cmdrs) through about this last sec, right before the gate went down, it was too late, and the order to hold did not reach majority of the players. Costly oversight, but now we know

What we have proven though, is that JQ in overlook, with their massive amount of siege, is still breakable at full queue hours. Just swing things around a bit next time, we got this.

GJ, JQ. I really thought you guys had given up at that point, and you came back in style. fun stuff.

What I do have an issue with is the prime time HoD crew just seemingly laying back and chillin’. There seems to be an attitude of “whatever, we loose stuff but our night crew will get it back..meh” and so they hide in their well supplied and upgraded keeps, curtsy of their night crews, and occasionally poke their heads out when someone either knocks on their door or its point tally time and they try to take supply camps ready for the timer tick.

what about siege. is 1 badge worth 1 silver?
I get 2g and 20 badges in a good hour, so is that equal to 2g 20silver?
anyone can farm 4g an hour with some MF, so if the earning in WvW was to equal the earning in farmlands (ie. Orr), then shouldn’t we be getting 200 badges per hour?
Siege would become an issue though…

Would be cool if commander cost 10k badges instead of 100g…

not in the patch. I took a shot at a catapult build site sitting above a cliff, OOR with no LOS, it did 1350 dmg.
It was so high up there that meteor shower didn’t even make half way, that when I realized meteor shower is also a sphere…

well, we took the valley door down bout 2 hours after blink’s post, but took a lot of rams, whole lot of rams.

JQ just been superb at building sieges, and in that sense, SBI got outplayed this week.
But look at the brightside dudes, you’ll bounce right back into red keep, and you can spank some people for a change.

and all that talk about nightcapping, just get over it. Until SBI keep went down, it was full on. Once people start to spam in lion arch that your faction had no hold in EB, of course people stopped queuing.
Nightcapping happens on boarderlands, i’m not denying that, but where point come from, aka. EB, well, just go nightcap some CD towers and you’ll see.

Anet does not care about this “controversy” for a reason. They watch all the games you know, esp the top tier ones. Only 17 games total…

HoD was one of the 3 lowest populated servers at launch, it’s now #1.. Your point?

actually, I’ll give you couple points

1. HoD population was low only during 3 day early launch. When I finally got 80 and moved at end of week 1 (or was it beginning of week 2), it was already high/locked

2. You made a good call to mesmer portal golems at the right time on tue to retake SM. You deserve every bit of credit for that, but that has absolutely nothing to do with your guild or alliance, or all that nightcapping "strategy"you talked about.
Or let me rephrase that. You would of gotten the same support with or without SYN and PRX in EB that night. Everyone understood to get SM back by all means was the only way to come back on score, and we were (had been) trying everything. We fought in the lord room for 2 hours on that 1 siege kitten how much of that effort was made by your alliance?

3. since last match, you had declared you’d be in boarderland, and you had done just that. How have we been doing in EB this match so far, without you? and without your alliance? We been crushing them, in case you didn’t know, while boaderlands are only getting equal in early morning.
This morning, when we had 9 towers 2 keep and ALL supplies in EB, potential score was only 310 (and 295 at one point). Now answer me why was that? Where was your alliance and YOU in boarderlands?

Uh…you move to HoD to farm Karma in WvW..

ya, at end of week 1…. You’d be 100% correct if you phrased it “You chose HoD to farm Karma”.
I had 2 hours on other servers in boarderlands. Maybe a day or so to farm CoF when HoD population was medium and it was just impossible to get a CoF group going.

It is a pretty sad state of affairs when someone says “I can take 1v1 easy and 1v2 most of the time” and then finds room to complain!?!?

Seriously, I would love to be able to say I can take 1v1 easy. I think MOST elementalists would say that. Sure, I can take on most 1v1, but its a life and death struggle EVERY time. But a 1v2 and I’m pretty much guaranteed a loss.

This is all WvW btw, not sPvP. 2 different animals completely.

You pick 1v1 fights, that’s why.
What I want had always, and will always be karma, for that I have to cap (and not 170pt or 340pt caps, need to keep 680pt caps rolling, 2 per tick, 10k per hour. To do that I have to stay in zergs and fight with gangs, where melee classes obviously have some disadvantages (so I used dual pistol for some time).

tbh, I don’t think build or playing style really mattered (in these big gangbangs). Weapon choice does, but what’s more important is to predict movement of the line of contact, and of course, always stay on the flanks. Thieves are just not very good frontline skirmishers, heartseeker, subtlety build, or pistols. Flanks are better, even they don’t offer as much scoring opportunities as the center.

And that brings about this range issue. Longer range mean even more on the flanks.

But sure, if you want to fight small group or 1v1s, thief has better escapes than any other class, and its finishing ability is probably top 2.

There’s a special place in Straits of Devastation named “Lone Post” for those that want Karma.

when you time it right and cap everything by end of each round, you gain karma for yourself as well as points for your realm, double the reward, that’s all.

AEing mobs take no skill.

My point is that you need to reward players (or help them gain rewards) so they feel the time spent was meaningful. If you aren’t willing to do that, then don’t command, simple.

umm, we also capped 2/3 of the map and made 2/3 of the points….

The difference is, when we take a keep, we actually cap it and cap all the towers belonged to that faction.
When you guys spent 8 hours assaulting red keep and failed to pass the inner wall, you ruined the fun for all others in EB during that 8 hours, that’s the fact.

Let’s throw away karma, and what we want? We want points. If you want to play with your guild people and run 10 men, 20 men militia that does nothing more than draining 1/4 of the supplies, then please, by all means, move to a smaller server, where you WILL actually be able to queue everyone in.

The more I WvW as a thief, the less I like it.

if you want to go shortbow, why not go full range? play an elementalist or engineer. Even warrior with rifle do mass dmg at 1200 range, 900 just doesn’t cut it.

I think the point of thief is to satisfy the thirst for blood in some players. If you want to take a guy down, you probably have the best chance to succeed and get away with a thief (in WvW of course, we not talking about sPvP here). High risk, high reward, in a very strange sense…

my thief and ele had gotten roughly the same number of kills (3k each), but the thief took twice as long to get there. For that 3K, the thief died close to 300 times. The lifetime death on that ele had just went pass 50…

EB gets into stalemate if you want it to go that way. Simply move people around and things open up themselves, and that’s the fundamental responsibly of commanders/command group.

For you commanders out there that are having a hard time, always remember that karma is what everyone wants. Give people what they want, and they will follow you into the most horrible sandwiching. They will wipe with you, and they will group on your as soon as they rez. Because you give them what they want.

Also, when that guy spent 24 silver calls 5% on a wall, act on it, don’t dishearten your fellow players. When everyone work for the same goal, everyone can have a good time.

simple solution:

1.Display different colors (or icons) for different functions the commander(s) were running. ie. He was running a guild group, make it red. His group was open for pubs, make icon blue…
2.Add a commander rating for each of the functions, where each player can only rate once per commander per function, and only rate commanders they had joined (different functions = separate ratings)

On a separate note
Commander’s group should be invite only. Clicking decline is becoming VERY annoying! I had to constantly click it off to get away from that, and it doesn’t feel good having to decline people nonstop.

I’m not sure that it’s meant to be a status symbol, but if a server does not move from it’s position, it is locked to that color. It seems as though the only way HoD can shift to a different color with the current system is to lose.
It is also apparent that green is the most difficult area on EB to defend. It’s the lowest ground, both towers can be trebed from SM and the Lowland’s Keep is the most vulnerable to attack from multiple sides.
A wise frog once said “It’s not easy being green,” but we’ve been proving him wrong since day 1.

Every outer tower in EB can be trebbed from Stonemist. And Valley is a much worse keep than Lowlands; it’s so tiny that you can’t even build trebs on it to cover your outer towers. If you wanted to say something negative about the green portion of the map in EB you picked two incorrect things. A better weakness would’ve been to say that Lowlands offers very little protection of the supply lines and it’s the easiest third of the map to harass caravans and take supply camps.

this is true, but you must take SM into consideration, and the fact that it’s not the same ease for the 3 sides to attack or defend SM.

12 of the 24 towers are in EB. EB is where scores come from, and SM is the key to scores. Without SM, green can only access Anz, Red has no access to enemy towers….

Now, here’s the biggest difference (or let’s call it uniqueness): Blue does not need SM to stay 2nd, as long as green had it. Blue can always attack green towers without worrying about SM, and 2 of them to be precise. The wall and water around green keep works both ways.
Green towers are difficult to sack (harder than the ones without a bridge over the door leading to a tower lord outside the tower), but they are also harder to reinforce.

TL:DR version:
Green and Red are meant to fight for SM
Blue does not have as much pressure on them to obtain SM
SM is easiest for red to take, and easiest for blue to defend.

other observations:
When Green had SM, it’s easier for them to attack blue keep (valley) than to sack red keep (overlook)
Having SM gain very little advantage for Red on the southern towers and keeps.
Easier for Blue with SM to take red keep than to take green keep
