This really isn’t a problem, this is the minority complaining about this.
I just had the best time In all of my time in Guild Wars 2, my guild and I pushed all the Verdant Brink daytime/nighttime meta events together and it was the most fun, coordinated thing that this game has given us and it was lacking events like this for such a long time. Its refreshing and I can’t wait to do this with the rest of the maps!
OMG That Legendary Patriarch Wyvern fight! SO FUN
(edited by Brimstar.9036)
The content isn’t boring to me what so ever, so, again matter of opinion. Nevertheless, people will complain about having to do anything.
I don’t understand people complaining about grind when it hasn’t even been 2 days. NOT even 2 days, let that sink in. I’m already 70% done with my elite spec with playing little compared to most and already lvl.5 in masteries. Its insane for people call anything a grind when its only been a day and half..you guys need to chill and look at thing positively. We didn’t get all our skills on launch? Up to lvl.80? No we didn’t.
10/10 smoothest launch ever.
I love the people complaining about not being able to get elite spec day 1, really? lmao
9/10 so far, loving everything to bits. The new prorgession system is very fun compared to just gaining a LVL but you gain something totally different with masteries
Nothing, the expansion is blowing me away. Its pretty amazing stuff, especially the story.
Things are not too grindy at all. Im already 70% done with my elite spec being unlocked and I’ve played for 5 hours between 2 days, I don’t understand how people are having problems with this. The mastery system is great, THIS isn’t a grind, its progression through maps that you will eventually get by just progressing through the maps naturally. It blows me away what people mistake as grind, there is no grind, just play the game and do the content, you will get there eventually and its ACCOUNT bound so once is good enough.
Im loving it to pieces!
You expected it to be all handed out to you? My mind is blown.
IS SO FREAKING GOOD! This is leaps and bound better than the personal story. I will replay this a lot!
We asked for challenging content, we got challenging content, this isn’t for the casual audience to cry it into submission like everything else in this game. With how arbitrary it is to get ascended gear, no one should really complain. We’ve had 3-2-1 years to get something better than exotic but we still have people playing devil’s advocate about calling THAT a gear grind. That’s a joke. If you still complain “its so much gold” my response is, really? You complain about gold, a game that lets you make gold literally by having to logging for 1 minute a day, caters to whatever play style you want to reward your character to potentially get virtually almost ANY stat combination by playing dungeons (while earning money). By doing this and still earning something. The people who are saying 5% difference is nothing but between 10 people its a 50% difference collectively but…that 1-2% extra damage (per person) can be 10-20% more damage effectively. I ask myself, why do I waste my time coming on these forums when I hear the same mercurial rhetoric over and over again, it does no good. I can only pray to the ANET gods they don’t nerf this like everything else in the game because there is a requirement to actually do something in the game and BE half-way decent at this game, good god cry to the masses, I have to WORK to do something (this is a MMO…). I demand free compensation for my loss in time! Goodness sake, I NEED A REFUND! You’ve changed so much, you went back on your word even though all those other QoL+updates to the game have been ever so helpful to the games future! I don’t pay a sub fee but I DEMAND my $50 dollars back! AND gem money fee. <—-That’s how the majority this thread sounds like.
Raids were perfect for me, whoever had a hard time aren’t getting the mechanics or how to play the encounter. The enrage timer is a great thing, its not challenging if you can do it with any group or they increase the timer anymore then it is. You just don’t have enough DPS, pure serker isn’t a thing and other roles are needed.
Constructive feedback Boss #2
The 3 bosses ontop of the island of the canopy (where Mordremoth has no vines there at all, need a updraft or mushroom to get up there) I don’t know if it was just me but these 3 felt a bit lackluster in damage and perhaps a bug?
(…)
Whats everyones experiences with these Canopy bosses? Anyone else got feedback or other bosses to add to the list? The platform with the Champion Mordrem tetrad and the Legendary Spellmaster Macsen is at the POI Ascendant’s Ring.
The visual design of the bosses, the platform and the fight were really great. But the fight itself felt too easy.
Yeah, there they are! Thanks for the video man, I agree the fight is really great but it felt to easy indeed. Do you agree they needed to be buffed? Perhaps at a higher scale of people he does much more? We’ll have to see but it was a sight to see.
Constructive feedback Boss #1
The design of these bosses were amazing, they looked SICK and overall you feel they’re something special. The Axemaster had a great mechanic where he puts this timed spell on you that if you didn’t break his bar in time, it would instantly downed you. The first time I came across this guy, it was like wtf, OP right? No, just learn the fight and read his info underneath his name. After the first few times, Im not sure its the scaling but the break bar IMHO can be fined tuned in bigger groups to be harder to break. Other then that, it was great design, I just felt like he needed to be more punishing in bigger group scaled times (especially that breakbar).
Constructive feedback Boss #2
The 3 bosses ontop of the island of the canopy (where Mordremoth has no vines there at all, need a updraft or mushroom to get up there) I don’t know if it was just me but these 3 felt a bit lackluster in damage and perhaps a bug? But they wouldn’t fight you until you CCed them, it was very odd. I still don’t know the full mechanics intended for these 3 but after you killed them (really great animations, character design!) A hammer Legendary Mordrem spawned (probably 3x times bigger then any regular mordrem mob) he literally looked like the juggernaut, swinging his hammer to knock you off the island (great design doing this) once you got to a certain point there were is a giant AOE ring that pushes you outside and off the island (like the molten duo + firestorm absorbing the berserkers power). It was the most fun encounter I’ve had in the BWE3. I just wanted his breakbar to be a little harder to take down.
His mechanics were such as follow, swing hammer continuously at a mob until they get knocked off or pushed off by the AOE outside ring then ports back into the middle with a giant stomp, a few other basic swings and rinse+repeat.
Whats everyones experiences with these Canopy bosses? Anyone else got feedback or other bosses to add to the list?
Hammer
Hammer felt amazing fluid, very well combo making with fields + skill 3
Gyros
AI seemed to be lack the ability to keep up with the Scrapper Engineer (Basically because of the super speed we gained so much of, if we gain super speed I suggest the gyros gain super speed as well, perhaps a shared trait to for them to keep up?)
Biggest concern
The synergy between traitlines is fantastic and feels almost the best elite spec in terms of just SYNGERY but..
Its way too easy to stack might with scrapper-engineer traits, I suggest taking off the extra might stack with hammer skill 3, it feels extremely over powered to just Flamethrower + Superior Runes of Strength + using HGH too, we need to focus on something else on the traitline or change something up, give it a more versatility, I suggest changing HGH to (every elixir gives you +2% to boon duration or something similiar) We need to be able to work with all boons as well and not just might, way too many things stimulating the might boon alone.
Extremely disappointed by not being able to play them this weekend. We still need to test them regardless. Beta is beta, thats cool but still the expectation was still there.
So much denial it’s unreal, if you want yesmen goto reddit please, that way you can censor out if you don’t want to read criticism.
I don’t know man, no one has a reason to be in denial because we have no clue how many phases the boss is completely and no one does. We have little to no information, we have 4 encounters to face in the first wing and no one has beaten the 1st boss within the 4 bosses we face. I’ve played the encounter, it was quite fun and only got Vale Guardian down to 93%, wiped and crashed from the UI bug. Yeah, I see your reddit link, someone got him down past 50%, awesome but do we even know if it has more phases afterward? No, we don’t at this time . We will have to see how it plays the rest of the weekend, if we even get to play it at all.
Lol, OP has no clue what they’re talking about there is 4 encounters in this first wing and we haven’t even down the 1st encounter, no one has even pushed 50% of the first guys wing to my knowledge, if so pics please : )
I agree with this 100%, mobs are so boring now and easy to kill.
I agree, the mobs are faceroll now, the encounters were much more interesting in BWE2. I felt actually super bored with the mobs this time around, I never felt truly threaten, even in night cycle.
Longbow
The LB skills are much better now and a lot of the reworked skills feel just right, trueshot is in a good place in terms of damage now and the velocity is way better feeling.
Utilities
The traps still seem to be lacking even with taking the 20% reduced cooldown, I dont know if they’re lacking utility but overall effectiveness but something is missing to give them the WOW effect, I would suggest perhaps adding a skill effect to synergies of other utilities "Meditations, Signets, Shouts, consecrations, aegis* Even though one of the traps already gives you aegis, its just a example.
Traits
The Grandmasters I feel like are in a good place but the other 2 tiers still seem to be lacking synergy with the rest of the guardian traitlines.
As if veterans haven’t had 3 years to get ascended armor with how easy it is and especially with the ability to change the stats on ascended now to what you need, no one should be crying over ascended having to be slotted AT LEAST for the last wing raid. She explains you don’t need full ascended for the first 2 wings, how is this even something to complain about? Rings, Trinkets, and Amulets are extremely simple to get in this game. There is no treadmill, its been this way for almost 2 1/2 years, stop complaining. If you’re new to the game, then there is some relevance to this otherwise, they couldn’t of made it any easier to get ascended gear, especially with the billion options to get trinkets now.
I doubt they’re going to stop it now it seems. I really hoped that they would have by now but seems we’re just going by the seat of our pants now. Good Luck guys, don’t think I’m going to play anything live like this, every time there’s a update they break something and creates a terrible atmosphere.
Exactly, my guilds done the exact samething and just left the event, not even bothering with it because of the bad taste in their mouth.
The amount of salt generated by the mess up is pretty negative, I believe you should just cancel event and redo it when its fixed. It’s not a good impression for the new players experiencing it. Barely anyones wanting to do the events now because it doesn’t feel rewarding. Send a in game mail to everyone and address the situation, that should be easy enough.

Oh man, a company that want you to buy their product?Holy crap, I didn’t see this coming. Oh me or my, how money hungry they are, giving out the core base game for free and wanting a more populated community. Gosh ANET are sure forcing us to pay for production costs. This isn’t a charity, its entertainment, get over it and how easily you throw a words like “money hungry around” mean you have no clue what a real money hungry game looks like. Your logic would make this company burn and fall, having no product at all. In any form of business, that isn’t good business. Them allowing players to come in and play the game for free and decide whether or not they like it enough to buy the expansion, is money hungry right? No thats just good marketing.
I agree, break bars need to be harder to take down in some encounters. I was fighting a legendary wyvern with lord faren and the breakbar was literally so easy to take down, it ruined the encounter somewhat for me. There should be a coordinated moment where we have to really try to get it down and not instantly.
Hey guys, did you know there’s a pay wall for the expansion? I can’t believe they’re asking us for our money so the game can continue to grow content and feed their employees. Curse them, those developers should be making my content for free! /sarcasm
YES, ITS HAPPENING! Finally challenging content and even with all the people who will cry over this, get over it. We deserve something challenging and if you don’t like the aspect it brings into the causal community, then its plain and simple. Don’t Raid. Continue to PvE, like the rest of us and stop shedding a negative light on more game types to be put into the game. THIS IS a good thing.
Definitely one of the best characters in Personal Story, lol.
Lol. Pretty hilarious right?
Let me get this straight, there are 9 professions and you’re complaining that they haven’t covered your class and it isn’t “fair” and my class is more important then the others (this is exactly what I’m hearing from OP). Get rid of that fast-food society self-entitlement. They’ve already said once, when its ready it will be revealed.
I ordered the deluxe version and I never found out how to apply the glider skin given to me? Any ideas?
Excuse me if this as already been covered since the topics got merged, but does anyone have tips for Vet Smokescales? They seem to be insanely OP. They are hard to disengage, they dodge your attacks and lay down massive damage. I can hang with my mesmer, but my other characters get melted down so fast, and when I run away they just shadow step to me and finish me off.
Immoblize or CC and they shut down really quick.
I’m surprised they don’t have a consolidated thread for this yet. Ok, here are my impressions of the first few hours in the beta:
Reventant: The new moves are WAY more fun than the old moves. I spent half of the test with sword/sword, the other half with sword/axe. I liked the latter better, very mobile. I tried to also use staff, but it’s just completely ineffective as a weapon. Also, the staff attack icons all look very similar, it’s hard to tell what they do at a glance like you can with other sets. One problem I had was with healing, the Shiro heal was very weak, especially if you weren’t in a position to attack enemies. Given the amount of damage in this area, like hive trolls, this was a horrible experience. On any other class, you could just switch to a different heal, but with Revenant you’re stuck with the heal that comes with the Legend, so every one of them needs to be great ALL the time. That’s the deal, you don’t give us choice, then every choice you make for us needs to be the best choice. Also, with the axe #4, it tends to cause you to overshoot the target, which makes it useless on large chunks of this map because of all the ledges.
Map: I enjoyed the Verdant Brink map so far, learning how it flows. It’s rather painful at first though, without access to the glider. I got the glider right before I quit for the day, and even a few minutes with it was a world of difference. The map is kind of “broken” in a way that most others aren’t, in that you can very easily end up on a spot where your only option is to fall to your death (without a glider). Most other maps are designed so that there is almost always a safe path to the ground, or back up to where you came from.
Content: I ran a few missions around the Itzel, and also some of the Pale Raider chain. The Pale Raiders are just AWFUL. The part where you have to hold while they try to bomb open an area took WAY longer than it was any fun, even though we kept the mobs off them most of the time. Many of the smaller scale mobs seemed to teleport to the top of the cliff, making it impossible to snipe them. The Husks barely took any sniper damage, and took zero damage from every hit after the first in a chain. It was very boring and frustrating.
Then we escorted them up a cliff, where it got even worse. I went with Laranthir, and when I got to the top I had to wait around with nothing to do for several minutes until the other team got into position, which caused many of the players in my area to wander off. Please put in something to do here while you wait, not necessarily something necessary, that could fail the mission if not done, but some little time killing activity that is more rewarding than going AFK.
Then the battle started and it was full of menders and trolls on a tiny bridge. Didn’t you guys learn from Silverwastes, you can’t spawn large packs of Menders because they become literally invincible. Yes, if you have a sufficiently large team with a sufficient amount of CC you can stop them, but the spawning patterns seem to have no relation to the number of people actually there to kill them. 3+ menders with only 1-2 people to fight them cannot be stopped, especially with two trolls throwing bees at you. I had no idea what was going on during this section, I just tried to kill enemies as best I could, and died many times. The run back from the waypoint was not worth it. There needs to be a faster way to get back into the action. I gave up on it when it didn’t seem to be going anywhere and just went back to the Itzel area.
It sounds like your group on the bombs part wasnt getting the roles needed to be given during the bomb event? Im assuming you’re talking about when the 2 captains were planting bombs into the wall, the husks weren’t that hard to kill at all because the mechanic was you had to take away their defiance in order for the people with sniper rifles to kill them instantly. You needed to have a ground unit team to round up the mobs on the bottom floor and a top unit with snipers and to take pressure off the NPC mobs. Again, it just sounds like you guys didn’t understand the mechanics of the mobs or event. Thus why it took so long. If you need help going through some of these events, I would gladly show you how.
Yeah, it blew me away from what I saw. I actually really enjoyed playing it again.
It all seems to form something bigger, onto something even bigger from event to event.
You’re missing so much, you can fly to several places. The outposts events branch out through day into night, among lanathir and sky charr, I been playing for 10 hours, I have even touched everything yet because masteries not unlocked, not finishing the meta event chain from day to night.
I agree with this 100% I love the new mobs AI so much now, I feel like you cant stand around stacking anymore, its fantastic. Some of these mobs just destroy people who are lazy.
I LOVEEEEEEEEE the new AI, absolutely engaging combat and I just cant breeze over mobs. I actually get to think when I fight and the challenge is there. Great job so far, I really can’t wait to see the rest of the game.

You get frustrated, don’t know why you aren’t killing something? Why things are hitting you so hard? Not sure why meta event isn’t progressing. This is good, lets give constructive feedback.
My few takes on what I’ve played so far
AI: Much more lively, they’re helping each other, the abilities they possess are much more intimidating and I feel like I just cant mindlessly zerg content without knowing the situation and how to approach it. I’ve seen people getting completely wiped (10+ people) because they dont know how to approach a event right, this in my opinion is a step in the right direction in making engaging gameplay, making people think on how to approach newer PvE builds
Cons: So far, when tons of new mobs are together, it can almost be a overload of particle effects and not understanding how to approach it or where to go. The combination with characters particle effects can add to the stress of engaging the combat and understanding where they are/whats going on.
You know, you can make events like invade Gendarran Fields or find a map where there isn’t enough people to do world boss and bring your whole guild there running in to save the day or something. Make something up.
untill HoT arrives…. if not, you are going to lose guild members who got bored and just go play Fallout 4 instead when it comes out. or something….
I do like this idea, seems like a lot of the Orr events can work since they’re on the longer side of the meta event chains and can still be not a pushover for level 80s. Keep the ideas going! : D
We’re a 90+ (we cap at 100 members)PvE guild, dungeons, fotm, boss trains, open world mapping, etc. We’ve also got no one over 1 month inactivity rule to keep concurrent users and to try to maintain a close knit feel.
You don’t want to recruit new players and you can’t be bothered to help + organize events inside of the guild, and you only log in to do the dailies. As a guild leader, what else do you think would happen?
To be fair, we’ve all helped our fair share of new players out on a regular basis. I don’t want to recruit anymore because the guild is bored with the game ( in sense not many log on enough to help new “what if” recruitments" plus, this isn’t very rewarding for them and becomes a chore. Very few of us WvW and PvP. Whats to organize in PvE? Non-existent content? As a guild leader, I would of hoped the developers would give us something to bite on a for a while but thikittenus of content has been staggering slow. I’ve done guild raffles, guild world boss nights, and much more but it still doesn’t fix the fact there is nothing new to do in the game, when half the guild has a legendary, all ascended and done fotm 50. Guild Halls look absolutely amazing and promising in real guild progression/roles but its hard to keep the concurrent players you’ve grown with throughout the game a reason to keep playing besides being a social outlet. If there were something to work towards (besides gold) as a PvE Guild before HoT launches, that would be enough. Nevertheless, there is nothing because they’re revamping pretty much everything pertaining to guilds in general (halls).
I apologize for the rant guys, it just really sucks to see something you work hard for grow so..stagnant and not evolving much anymore. If I were a WvW guild, it would be different but we’re not. :/ Still open to suggestions.
The game has grown extremely stale, I’ve done everything there is to offer PvE wise (for about 6 months now). There is nothing challenging anymore nor rewarding. I love this game, I do but there is literally nothing for my guild and I to do together anymore, even guild missions have become repetitive and extremely boring (since they’ve never updated them since they launched them or the rewards). I have people going on hiatus for long periods of time and my peak concurrent is relatively low. I have no way to save this guild anymore, there is no point in recruiting for a PvE environment when all your players have done everything there is to offer in a guild and the new playerbased would feel abandoned in a guild who’s done everything and has no ambition to help a new player out. (Because we’ve all done the content over 1000 times now.) Take a break? I’ve been starting to do login-reward/daily everyday and thats it. Whats a guild leader to do? I don’t want to leave and have no playerbase anymore.
I agree, I play a tanky build in PvP, and I just got melted without me being able to do a reaction time heal to a mesmer, and a thief. I won’t play anymore of this until its balanced out, please don’t tell me to adapt, games just unbalanced atm (to be expected after a big skill change patch)
Jon, can we get this STICKERED onto the top of the discussion forums. We can avoid many redundant posts by doing so.
With the recent changes, most of the world bosses, even the harder ones feel like pushovers and most mobs feel..super squishy, do you guys think they’re aware of this problem but it feels like the HP isn’t scaled properly anymore to adjust to the damage we’re out putting because of power/condition changes. A PUG Teq today for example..finished him at 11:30 minutes left.
