Hey Arenanet, great job stepping up activity on the forums in response to the community a week ago! Keep up the good work yo.
Its a lazy way of making armor, its a way for them to not worry about clipping issues (yet there’s still plenty of clipping interaction with character models) and actually gives us no freedom in our new found wardrobe system. I would like to see less of this.
We’ve been lacking armor “rewards” as in dropped armor you don’t have to buy with money nor grind endlessly for a piece at a time. The fact of the matter is whats FUN and REWARDING. Sure, you might think grinding a champ farm over and over days is fun (because its not) to get a piece of armor that cost you 100g for the conversion rate between gold to gems but wouldn’t you rather do a dungeon? That is much more rewarding to do as a party, as gameplay, getting better at something? Some type of progression that you can get dungeon tokens, or a chance to get loot from a boss? Isn’t that what makes MMO’S REWARDING? The loot, the progression and the gameplay doing it? I apologize if I didn’t clarify enough on the first post. We currently lack any of that attainable fun, armor rewards, and same old thing we’ve been doing for almost a year now. I respect your opinions and understand where the beginning message was flawed in emphasizing the word attainable.
How is my view skewed? Also, all they do is add back pieces and not actual fully interchangeable armor (Example the last set of actual integrating game play armor without just rightfully buying it was ascended). I said the lack of ATTAINABLE armor without having to pull out your credit card to buy them is disappointing me. Yes, you can argue “Oh, just transfer gold to gems~!” No, you know that’s not a real game play option to attain that then gaining gold through the same dungeons we’ve been playing since launch (with the exception of aetherblade and fotm ) or mindless farming. THAT’S not fun and less rewarding! ASCENDED was brought back in December 2013, thats a long time ago.

Looks like outfits are the new thing and not armor. I believe this is a very lazy way to make “armor” so instead of giving us the option to mix n’ match we only get outfits now? When’s the last time we had attainable armor (other then ascended) added to the game? Everything has been gem store purchases and leaving me utterly disappointed in the lack of progression in attainable armor skins. I don’t want to pull out my credit card every time a new skin comes along..where’s the fun in that? There is no fun. Sorry for the rant, just sorely disappointed with the “gemstore only” weapons+armor skins attainable. (For the exception of the new ambrite weapons).

I usually NEVER complain about RNG but this is bullkitten, I’m up to 120 opened buried chests myself and 0 FOSSILS. This is poor design in getting things that people work hard for. My guildie used under 10 lockpicks and got back to back fossils. I think I’m done with trying to get them. I wouldn’t care if they were REALLY hard to get but able to trade them on TP.

Thanks for the new zone, the events are EXTREMELY FUN, the area is beautiful and Im in love all over again. Keep up the amazing work. 3 TOE TOOTSIE FTW~!!!!!!! You guys are definitely pushing the envelope for progression in zones/story!
I believe recent changes to the game are what have saved it. That is to say, it was going in a very bad direction until the mega server.
Take the town clothes example. For every single person that hated that change, I’m convinced 2 more will now buy them, because they can be used all the time. I think most people didn’t want to buy outfits just to use standing around in cities. There have been posts to that effect.
This whole listening to the fan base line is way overstated, since the fan base hardly ever agrees on anything. What people are really saying is listen to my specific opinion and the opinion of the percentage of the fan base that agrees with me. This is quite clearly a self-serving opinion. It’s very easy to fall into the trap of believing your fix is the fix the game needs. Other people will say other fixes are the fixes the game needs.
The megaserver fix got a lot of flack. From my point of view, it’s improved the game immersably.
What I like less are these giant mega events like Teq and Triple threat. I don’t like those events at all. I’m not interested in them. They’re not fun for me. What I don’t do is come to a forum and say that as they move in this direction the game will die or can’t be saved.
Because I recognize that my opinion is just that…my opinion…and that other people like different things.
The game is doing fine, and will continue to do fine.
And five years from now we’ll still have people posting telling us how the game is dying.
Bravo, love it. EXACTLY!
Saved from what? Another doom and gloom post? slow clap You people sound as bad as the end of the world predictors. This game doesn’t have a sub-fee, its not going to shut down anytime soon and everytime I log in my friends list and guild are full. This is silly and unproductive, you want productive go to the feedback part of the forum and actually give your support. This is nothing but toxic to the community.
Quick 10 minute sketch off Logan from back in the day, proportions are off but alas, here it is.
A quick sketch I made before the game was released, I didn’t know Caithe was a thief..soo..staff..yeah, lmao.
Hilarious~! I suggest learning some adobe photshop if you really choose to delve into the digital painting.
Come one, come all, post your fanart of Tyria’s most popular band of heroes Destinys Edge~! I’ll go first.
My only problem with Scarlet is whenever we get to her, she just summons a portal and runs away. In that sense, even in the invasions she can just port away which I find really annoying.
I love the content, the living story, but what I’ve found is that with current gem “skins” being available the actual carrot on the stick, is non-existent. There’s no prestige anymore and everything is easily attainable/meaningless. I already have a legendary but thats not the point. The point being is there needs to be more “this skin can be only attained by this dungeon/hard drop” and not a useless mini pet or back skin (that we have more than enough skins of those already..) So, even though the content is great it lasts barely a couple days of a full run through and gives little incentive to do it over, and over again.
You aren’t. For every MMO the forums are littered with complaining/negativity/bashing and they really are a small % of the populace. Most of the time to witness people ego tripping to get their points across (this is the internet no one is wrong!). You don’t see positive posts very often because well, they are content and playing.
As of right now lore delivery is very important and I feel the short stories are a wonderful step in the right direction BUT having them on the main website isn’t the way to do it. Here’s my suggestion:
To touch upon the way Anet deliver lore to the players. I made a suggestion a while back on the forums. The suggestion is simple, whenever there is a short story ready to be read your Herald will mail you and then you can go to them to listen to the story (if you did audio to them) or just a wall of text to be read. So, then you can still be in game and feel a sense of immersion. Anyway, hope you like the idea because it would make Heralds actually useful. I’d appreciate any feedback on this
A minority of the majority that don’t respond on the forums I say. The Living Story started out weak but really picked up my interest once Molten Facility started and from thus far. Whether people believe it or not, things change in the game and the pieces are moving. So, define this “change” because I thought we actually voted on change during the election, that actully CHANGES to what the game population votes for.
Dulfy the content, finish it in 2 hours, get your rewards, call it a day.
That’s fun, right? Every two weeks you get some new reward that you can show off with the rest of the GW2 players who have the same exact thing.
No. I’d rather some things that are there to stay and require using brainpower instead of reading some prewritten guide.
Then don’t use the guide and play as intended. Quite simple really.
TOP 5
1. Tequatl Revamp/Boss revamps
2. FLAME & FROST Molten Facility
3. Aetherblade Dungeon
4.AC REVAMP
5. Overall Living Story initiative
TOP LEAST FAV
1.) The Prelude of Flame & Frost (But we know the teams were restructuring)
2.) SPVP Attention in the first 2 Quarters of release
3.) Nerf to ARAH STORYMODE/Path 4 Explorable
4.) Lost Shores (November)
5.) Not enough ways to find out about LORE in game or look back on it.
Regardless, you do not need Ascended Weapons to experience 99% of this games content. So, people are whining over something that is truly irrelevant unless they are in extremely high lvl FOTM, which I doubt less than 20% of the games populace is thay high and if they are, they mote than likely have a legendary anyway.
Or in WvW.
I know, I know, WvW isn’t about balance and it’s all about zergs and therefore everyone should be happy to run around in gear that gives them a 5% disadvantage over other players.
You don’t “need” exotics either. In fact, you don’t even “need” rares to do most of the content in this game. Lets put rares behind a stupid grind.
Hey, for that matter, you don’t really “need” to play the game at all.
And, it seems, ANet doesn’t “need” their original vision for the game anymore.
I’m sorry you feel that way man, as my math about % is completely off and it could effect WvW, which is something they should address or perhaps making the weapons easier to get, which they can be dropped from chests and perhaps add a easier way to get them once they start floating in the economy. Yet, this is definitely not going to ruin me playing the game and enjoying it. I believe the company has done a kitten good job so far of addressing problems and maybe we should give them time to.
Well, thanks Gibson, glad you need to agree it doesn’t make a difference. : D

Can ascended weapons be transmuted to exotic weapons and vice versa?
Lol. People are whining about a 1% to 1.5% difference if that in stats. Oh god, laughing too hard.
1. Overflows
Overflows haven’t been a real issue until Tequatl
2. Disconnects
I’m sure it will be pathed up sooner than later, it has really only been a few days the D/Cs have been really relevant
3. Insta-kills
Really? I think you just need to play your class better and practice, especially testing different builds if you’re getting Pwned that bad.
4. Dulfy
Vague? Really? Look at your achievement points for the content, it literally tells you what to do instead of going to Dulfy, which..you’re complaining about and using it. That doesn’t make sense.
5. Stop trying to force me to play
Forcing you to play? LOL. Get real man, no one forces you to play anything but yourself. There’s plenty of options to get gear in this game, if you’re having trouble, I feel sorry for you if you try to get into any other real gear treadmill of a game.
6. Achievements, Achievements, Achievements, Achievements
Complaining about it without any real constructive criticism goes no where, if you don’t like a certain element of the game, don’t do it. It’s simple as that and if you think something can be done better, suggest it. I understand you’re passion about it by this post so use that passion to give some better feedback bro.
EDIT 7. Time Gating
This is ludicrious, if a month isn’t long enough to actually do what you want to do in a online persistent MMO, then perhaps this isn’t the right game you should be investing your time in. Every event they make at the beginning of the month lasts FOR a whole month, and not 2 weeks, they push content out every two weeks but all of it certainly doesn’t last 2 weeks. So this topic is irrevalvent to me because you got a whole month to do SAB and Tequatl is permanent.

Get a lore master in here to spell it out. Or someone that may have read a book. Teach us please.

I’m liking what I see when it comes to Guardians but my biggest complaint is the Spirit Weapons. Instead of having them follow the mob around, miss most of the dps, be extremely slow. My belief that these weapons have so much potential, if you make them conjured weapons like the Elementalist. Now I’m not saying to give them tons of direct DPS abilities but keep them in the current roles you wanted them to have. The one thing Guardian lacks in is condition damage, it has no poison, bleeding, or confusion. Blind has tons of options, fire is in a good place and vulnerability is barely there. These weapons have the potential to harness some more options for condition dmg/support/dps builds Ohhh, also, I would like to see a Spirit Weapon Elite in the future

Yeah, good luck whittling down his health with no zerkers on him. Tell me how that works out for you. I’ve yet to see him go below 80% and that’s with people who actually know how to dodge and stay on him while dealing with ads. He has too much health for the limited timer, simple as.
I’m sure he’s doable in a timely fashion with an entire zerg decked out in exotics and ascended but you cannot prevent people with lousy gear from participating in an open world boss.
You understand Zerkers do just as much as anyone else? Because they can’t crit him, so serkers are pretty useless in this fight, if you want to max your dmg on him, don’t be a zerker, you’re honestly only hurting the event imho, if you’re in the zerg that’s fighting him directly. SO, you want max dmg? GO PVT, Maxing Power out will gain your maximum damage other than being SERKER/CRIT.
If you guys are worried about DPS, considering how we can’t crit Tequatl, having max POWER is probably the best for whatever teams are dpsing him directly. So, believe it or not, PVT is probably best for the zergs going in to fight him head on, whatever teams that are on turrets could be running anything..so it seems.
We beat him, it takes coordination and good commanders. How we did it was, we broke up into 5 man organized teams for each turret and the rest follow 2 commanders on 2 different pathways, one left, one right and split the turrets to defend either left or right zerg. This is very doable and I’m hearing the whiners already. They clearly need to learn strategy, which is fantastic. Love this new revamp!!!!
If at all possible, I hope you would spawn this event perhaps less than the original Dragon Timers, just to give a sense of “OH man, Sunless is up, I gotta do that!” Get even more organization on the front as a server, Also, making the rewards even more rare and wanted.
I know the team has been working kitten balance and overall polish to deliver the tools the community needs but I feel as though the rewards aren’t what they can be. My suggestion is to make sPvP only armor, a iteration of a good system would be to make seasonable armor. You could follow the Starcraft system to determine what sets you can attain depending on your bronze, silver, and gold ranking. Anyway, just a thought! Keep up the good work.
Man, this is why I rarely come to forums for any game. You usually get people who offer no constructive feedback and just pure negative toxicity to the game/community. I feel like I come into these forums to a different game because when I do login, people aren’t this negative and are actually enjoying the game in a whole. Sure every game has there challenges and can’t adhere to everyone’s wants, this should be logical at this point. Everything they showed at PAX looked fantastically in the right direction, it might not be what I want personally but I know the reality of making a expansion/timeframe will come eventually. I couldn’t even fathom having to read forums on a daily basis if I worked for Anet, no matter the retort you give or the valid reasoning, someone will always have something negative to say unconstructively. I think I’m going to go back to playing the game now..keep up revamps! Good kitten!
So, revamping Tequatl sounds okay but seriously, what about revamping Zhaitan?? That one needs much more work.
Just a suggestion ANet…
Oh hai toe, lol. Did you see the livestream of the revamp, one word, amazing.
I enjoyed it honestly but the moments when the 2 petting Zoo’s collided was unwatchable
It looks like they probably did a pretty nice job with this revamp of Tequatl.
The sense I’m getting from reading all of the above, though, is that for many, it’s too little, too late, and while very nice, not anywhere near the top of the list of big issues that players have with GW2.
I’m wondering if this is just another thing that’s feeding the impression that ArenaNet aren’t really listening…
What bugs are these? Honestly, I haven’t ran into a game breaking bug in a very long time.
Ok and that’s why I’m saying you have a poor attitude.
So, i have a poor attitude because in my opinion anet hypes their product too much?
Sure, everyone has a opinion but doesn’t make it logical. A company that hyped there product too much, why yes, they do want a profit and are a business at heart. If a business didn’t hype there products..oh wait they all do because its actual good business strategy, asking them to not do so isn’t lucrative and generates no buzz/money for the game.
The thing is, everyone that is enjoying the game (mass majority) you don’t see them on the forums as much compared to everyone else (minority) that complain about every little thing down to the color of their weapons to how a 2 week content update is not good enough for them. Please, take a step back and look at this game compared to every other MMO out there and how they treat their community. This company listens to their community much more then others and are quite transparent with what they can be with.
No ones ever happy eh?
These events are awesome, seriously making us organize groups, and only on lvl.1 and the new monsters look amazing, 10/10 good freaking job Anet.
I’m really enjoying the story brought forth with the Queens update, good dialogue and overall great representation. The Logan vs Rytlock was a great touch as well. Keep it up the great work! Fun stuff!
Honestly, I’m playing on a bad cyber cafe computer and I’m doing just fine..it sounds like you really need a upgrade for a computer & perhaps a better ISP
I remember briefly in beta there were books you collected to tell your story or some other story. I see lots of people loving the lore and finding it difficult to follow or keep up with for that matter. My suggestion is to make collectable audio books that perhaps give a brief outline of the lore of a given zone/dungeon, etc. Once you get them you can either attain karma, gold, xp or some other currency that is currently useful, such as laurels. Also, a great way to implement this is use a durmond priory npc in LA to put you on a scavenger hunt type mission. Also, this could be a great make for a guild type mission/ benefit being for lore/the masses learning more about the game.
The elder dragons will certainly be paid expansions, they’re too big and grand to not be. If you been following the flame and frost story, you’ll know all the refugees are going to live on southsun cove for work and a new life. Yet, there is something mystery at hand here why the consortium is being so nice and offering a new “whole world”. If you’ve read all the dialogue with the refugees, you’ll notice the grawl seem to be most insightful as the chieftan says " There smiles do not meet their eyes" obviously this is foreboding nod to whats to come for these refugees along southsun cove. Perhaps it might become a new harbor city south of LA to expand into the “Unending Ocean” We’ll just have to wait and see
I read the forums with a grain of salt because of the majority of negativity that is brewed forth but I want to take this opportunity to shine some positivity in your direction, thanks for the latest patch! Its by far one of the best you’ve put in the game. The guild missions are a fantastic progression for exactly what my guild needs and can’t wait to unlock them in due time. The Flame & Frost is finally gaining momentum and is proving to be equally as interesting. Finally the revamp of Ascalonian Catacombs is yet another stepping stone I’m excited to see for other dungeons. (Ghostbusters Path 2 particularly my favorite). Keep up the amazing work guys.
On a side note, I’d hope whoever complains on the forums they all bring constructive criticism than overall bashing. Even with a amazing game the community is the core whether it falls or stands.
