We also accessed this area through falling oddly in Cliffside.
In personal stories, mobs come in packs of at least 3, and in waves. Feedback only works if those ranged mobs are projectiles, and of course there’s yet another long recharge. And what happens when the mob you summoned the phantasm on dies? Another long recharge for the “aoe”. Sure, if you’re anywhere near an okay/average player, you will make it through just fine. But that’s not to say that other professions are not making it through a lot easier and faster than you are, with probably 1/3 of the effort since they all have spammable aoes.
And of course, that still doesn’t answer the question of Cursed Shore, although I guess with the introduction of the Fractals dungeon, there are a lot less people there.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my mesmer. But lately, I haven’t touched her at all since it’s just so much easier on my engineer and thief.
Of course they should, and they work brilliantly in PvP. But even in 1v1 PvE, it takes us longer to kill mobs simply because of setup time. I don’t know what the fix will be, but I sure as heck hope they at least take away this los for summons; now I sometimes waste my long recharge summons because there’s a small rock in the way ><
Level another character up to 80. I’m not trolling. As it stands, mesmer is one of the worst professions to tag mobs in dynamic events. In addition, they require a decent amount of work just to function well in any PvE situation that involves 1v1+n mobs.
Don’t believe me? Roll another class. They all handle multiple mob situations much more efficiently and laughingly easier than a mesmer.
Makes me sad since I was really, really excited about mesmer for the game, but I guess it took a few years before they fixed mesmer in GW1 for PvE.
It’s the bonus fractal – you get extra tokens and chance at nicer loot. You get it after every even level fractal completion.
The event is still happening on overflow servers.
But I believe there is a merchant in Shores that will exchange shells for the earring.
Largo bugged on main and overflow servers for me and couldn’t finish. Quite upset not to have the chance to finish.
If you can manage to read through all of the tear soaked typing, you will see that a lot of it is the same few people posting over and over again. I clicked on a few of the hyper negative posters and view their history, and some of them have 20+ posts in this thread.
Its hard to really gauge how many people are hardcore upset with the changes, because the few that are crowding the thread with their drama.
For me, its still the same game for now. Im not that impressed with the new event, but there sure was a massive lag inducing turn out- so there is still a massive crowd that is interested in the game.
This is my first post in the topic, if it matters at all.
I still love the game. I will still play it. The new dungeon is a lot of fun and I’m glad that it’s picking up the story mission styles of GW1.
But I really, really am disappointed with the concept of ascended armor and the associated gear grind. Because make no mistake, it is a gear grind. Yes, I feel betrayed and maybe it is a “drama” thing, but it has tainted my enjoyment of the game.
I’m not going to stop playing the game because there are some fun aspects to it, but I can’t help being sad about the direction it is heading. And, I’ve decided not to blindly follow the gear grind, so I guess I’m sad that I’m not “contributing” to the team whether in PvE or in WvW as much as I could be stat wise. Eventually I’ll get to the Ascended gear, but I’ve had enough of the gear treadmill from a couple years of playing WoW.
Anyway, again, kudos on a fun dungeon. Please rethink the grind, or at the very least, rethink adding more of this “vertical progression”.
—From someone who faithfully played GW1 from incarnation through EoTN and bonus mission packs.
But guys… I was told that dye was “vertical progression”…. wasn’t that the reason dyes were made character bound instead of account?
Wow, don’t have it either and never even knew about it. That is a LOT of bonuses that have been missed :/
Are they excited and back because of Lost Shore or because of Ascended Armor? Because I’m pretty excited about Lost Shore and disappointed with the new level of armor. There are a lot of people who do love gear progression though.
Quote: Our goal is to ensure we have a proper progression for players from exotic up to legendary without a massive jump in reward between the two.
But, that’s the thing, there wasn’t ANY jump between the two EXCEPT in terms of aesthetics… I’m still unsure why ascended gear was deemed necessary and his post does not explain anything except that there most likely WILL be more tiers of gear coming… just not every 3 months. That doesn’t dispel any worries.
I never doubted that the new gear would be “difficult” to get and I don’t believe that is the concern behind their introduction. The concern is that there will be gear progression from now on and it is an upsetting change in philosophy.
Personally, I’m glad that there is new content so soon, but higher level of stats is not the same as new content. It is quite possible for new content to exist without any change in stats.

After using the trebuchets and defeating the orrian siege weapons, a cut scene plays. From then on, the camera’s viewpoint does not change from the trebuchet, but you are still able to move your character around via the mini map. However, if you try to bring up the regular map, the game crashes.
In the attached screenshot, my character actually fell off the keep and into the water (underwater engineer skills shown). My character was actually in the battle and died (the defend checkpoint), and I was given the chance to retry from checkpoint, but an npc revived my character and I had hoped that it would fix the problem. It did not. I tried to do this personal story a second time, but the same issue happened.
Edit: Tried this story a third time – you HAVE to leave the treb before the cutscene starts in order to progress normally and avoid the bug.

Looove Lunatic Inquisition
Stormbluff server is also having this issue. Knocking on the Door is looping in Queensdale from Detti to Thiago.
After reading this thread, I went searching for a haunted door and found a door bugged open between Hunted Lodge POI and Krytan WP. We tried to open it or enter through it. It would not allow entry but spawns several spiders endlessly and remains open.
All three areas in Stormbluff are bugged. Events are looping in Gendarren and Kessex.

No? I’ve farmed it about 40 times so far between yesterday and today and each time seems to be getting faster and faster because everyone knows what to do…barely anyone gets downed.
The increase in mob might be because you’re not killing them fast enough with certain groups?
Completed the puzzle in a relatively short time, but are you seriously equating going through hell as an immensely enjoyable experience? …
While it was social, I get the same amount of social interaction playing costume brawl in LA. I did talk to a lot of people while trying to complete the jumping puzzle, but it was all shared frustration and annoyance. After I completed, I never talked to any of those people again. Not sure what the difference is between that and playing around in LA. In addition, there is just so much hate for norn and charr flying around, that it’s clearly not about building camaderie for them. Yes, it is possible to do the jumping puzzle with norns and charrs in the group, but it is made artificially more difficult if they are present while you are attempting to memorize the jumps. All in all, I liked certain aspects of the jumping puzzle, but the social aspect was not better than any other social experience I’ve had in the game. Finally, the frustrating aspects because of the forced 15 players in my mind outweigh the “funness” of the puzzle.
It doesn’t make it much harder, especially if you’ve already memorized the jumps. If you’re in an instance with a lot of norns, it actuallys help because it lessens the distractions – even if you’re trying to focus on the middle of the screen, sometimes, you can’t help but stare at that gigantic norn :P I opened up inventory screen, smaller, but same concept.
Are you a condition build? With pistol? That’s the only reason to get the HotW armor. Conditions just don’t match the bursting power of rifles and grenades, however. If you want to be “tankish”, I would go with a mix of knight’s armor and berserker (SE/Arah, CoF and some other ones), or to go full tank would be the power/vit/toughness (I think you can get that from SE, not sure about other dungeons).
Honestly though, unless you’re doing some crazy things, engineer has a ton of survival skills that makes a full berserker rifle/grenades (1500+ range is fairly safe) build the best for WvW. If you’re running headlong into enemy mobs for some reason, even the tankish armor won’t save you.
Engineers are the #1 WvW profession with easy spammable aoes that hit for big numbers when traited for power/crit and geared into full berserkers.
Not sure what you’re doing on thief, but most thieves in WvW have instant unload 3x of 6-7k damage (and this is with knight’s gear), usually enough to kill many players, especially with the rendering bug.
The loot is actual pretty nice, since it’s a repeatable dungeon. Got a dye pack, friend got a karma booster. Someone on server got Mad Moon
Won’t let me edit for some reason, so here’s another post:
Why are people labeling each other? If I feel like I have a legitimate concern and post on the boards, then I must be a “whiner” or a “complainer”. If I feel that something is too easy, then I must be an “elitist”.
Quote: just to have the pleasure of seeing the pride leaving the whiners body every time they fall down in the endless pit of gooey shame;)
^For kitten’s sake, it’s people like you who make the community terrible. I understand concerns from both sides, but voice them like adults instead of name calling and being general jerks. You didn’t complete the tower did you? What a shame.
Of course, this is /e-sarcasm.
Some people just have to get a boost to their kitten, otherwise they don’t feel special as the should.
Completed as a norn. Course, everyone else was annoyed at having a norn in the group, but that’s okay… I’m obviously not playing it for the joy of the community. /e-sarcasm????
I also completed it with that inventory window trick from the youtube. But the fact that being a norn and having an inventory window makes it easier just shows how multiple people in the instance increases the difficulty artificially. Most people aren’t asking for a nerf to the ACTUAL difficulty of the instance, but to have the option to run this instance solo or with a smaller group.
All the qq’ing about the qq’ers and the remarks flying back and forth aren’t useful, especially not with the “entitlement” “special” “whiner” “complainer” labels that are flying around.
Elitists just don’t get it.
First of all, you have no idea about the statistics, so don’t use that as an argument.
Secondly, most of us are just trying to have FUN, buddy. To experience everything in the game we paid good money for. We don’t care about the reward or the pride, like you do. The best and most fun creation AN has ever done is ruined because it’s not single-player instanced. The tower is brilliant and the only fun jumping puzzle in the game, and only a few lucky ones shouldn’t be allowed to enjoy all of it. That is a serious problem whether your ego likes it or not.
Agreed with making the option for solo play. I don’t understand how changing this to a solo instance will ruin the achievement for others, because clearly, this is such a competitive game insert sarcasm. MMOs are about community. When I see tons of people creating norn and charr characters to complete the puzzle because they were finding it difficult on their asurans and humans (and they did complete it rather easily once they switched characters), then there is obviously a problem with the way the game is set up. When people are able to find solo instances or instances with 5 people or less and complete the puzzle, but then come on the forums to ask that the dungeon not be changed, but others like myself honestly haven’t been in an instance with less than 9 and only for one run, then yes, there is a problem with the puzzle.
Making the jumping puzzle available as a solo instance or an instance with no more than 5 people does not detract from the actual difficulty of the puzzle.
Not sure how the Lunatic Boatmaster got moved to the edge of the platform, but it makes it very difficult to interact with him unless you jump onto the branch and then onto his platform.
Furthest I got was in a group with about 5 asura and size of only 9 people, about 3/4 of the way in. As soon as a charr or norn join and if they’re right on top of me, I waste precious seconds trying to locate my character – precious seconds that means acid covering platforms. Kept zoning to try to find a smaller instance with smaller characters, but haven’t been able to find another one with less than 13 players. The majority of my tries have been with full 15 players.
The first hour was fun and hilarious. After that it just becomes a grind, an annoying and frustrating grind. I’ll probably keep at it because I really want the achievement, and I’ll probably make it, but the joy has definitely gone out of this holiday puzzle.
Please make the option to do this puzzle solo. Sure I met some great people, but that in no way detracts from the frustration of what is supposed to be a fun event. I can still meet great people farming the labyrinth.
Edit: Nevermind, guess you nerfed the labyrinth. And also, why are people who dislike some of the mechanics of the jumping puzzle “complainers”? I’m voicing my concern. I’m fairly confident that I will be able to beat it…eventually, but as stated, it is no longer “fun” for me. I assume that while Anet wants this puzzle to be challenging, they still want it to be fun for the majority of players. Making the instance solo or max party of 5 would not detract from the achievement of completing this timed puzzle, but will greatly enhance the “fun” aspect for many players. Then again, maybe my assumption was wrong, in which case I am greatly disappointed.

There are sites on the internet, like gw2db, that track the prices for you.
Sometimes I fulfill buy orders, if it’s relatively close or I just want to unload an item.
Did path 1… ridiculous.
You can still kite the first grenadier and I guess four-man the dungeon. Not sure if the person kiting will get token rewards though?
The golems can be split still, but their damage downs us quickly. This is with group condition removals going off constantly too. Doable if you’re able to pull only two. The first time we tried fighting them all at once and wiped… running through the gauntlet took two thieves and a mesmer’s combined stealth and blind skills.
The add on the last boss I’m fine with, it’s the adds that they both summon that makes another layer of silliness to the fight.
I already have all the armor I wanted, was really just running this dungeon for a friend who wants the armor skin. I think it’ll be just path 3 from now on. Shame, especially seeing how difficult it is to get a group for this dungeon.

IoJ got put on the back foot in our oceanic timeslot, to those who are doing the do in the other timeslots, please know we oceanic’s are trying hard, outmanned in 2 battlegrounds and coming up against the near unstoppable force of War Machine on our home borderland.
We’ll keep the fight up.
We had outmanned all morning, even with WM
They did leave for about 30 minutes and in that 30 minutes we lost tower to JQ and EH to you guys. They came back though!
Please make it go directly to your inventory. Missed many loot drops because it was a mobile combat situation or because it dropped at the last second before own death.
Salvaging armor drops
You can swap sigils and transmute legendary or precursors and and still keep their effects. However, if you transmute the precursor, there is currently a bug where it can’t be used to make the legendary. Also, if you transmute the legendary, it will become an exotic level weapon.
There are some personal storyline quests where it is almost impossible to kite/evade because of the limited space available. And the NPCs get downed fairly quickly. This is especially apparently when playing a non-AoE profession such as mesmer and mobs have to be whittled down one by one instead of taking massive spread damage. By the end of some of the missions, I was the only fighter left alive and had to fight slow battles of attrition.
For the record, I have completed the personal storylines on both a human mesmer and an asuran engineer and the difference is quite remarkable, with the engineer in grenade/bomb build wiping out the waves of spawning mobs with ease. For fights with a vet or champ, the mesmer really shined.
(For the record, this was before the mesmer greatsword fix, which greatly improved our “AoE” capabilities; and before I realized that power/prec/crit or burst damage is king in pve)

No, there is no timer for DE unless it is one of the kill x waves before y completes. I can tag an event in lower levels while doing exploration and get gold event completion message an hour later.
You get the same DE rewards in any zone since it is scaled to your level, but loot is based on the level of what you kill. It is similar in WvW – if you kill a lowbie and are lucky enough to get a drop, it is based on your opponent’s level.
Something needs to be fixed with Cursed Shore since tagging has become an event of itself. Actively running around and trying to tag a mob while in a full party sometimes results in only a bronze event completion reward because there are just too many people. Buff the monsters that spawn or better the loot from low level areas.
The lack of level appropriate loot is silly anyway since in full level 80 traits and full exotic gear, the mobs melt away no matter what area you’re in.
I really hope the zerg of 80+ people mobbing one spawn point at an event in Cursed Shore isn’t what Anet had in mind for end game. :/
Yes, it spawns an item on the ground that everyone can click on. I’ve seen it used in WvW and in for Cursed Shore karma farming.
No glow, no other effect besides stuff coming out of the pistol when it’s shot; none of his skills changed animation. The owner was a thief and said he had to mute sound to demonstrate in LA.
