So im stealther, but i can also rush you up visible if needed while dodging every single attack …. you will run out of endurance/utilities since i dont have to use anything to catch up with you so it will end toe to toe no matter what … then u face the best dps and burst damage with no way to escape …

Oh I already hear the rogue bandwaggon crying that they need “initiative” LOL
1. It regens so fast and with no effort at all since its automatic
2. “hint” that utility skill you press on button and tada!!! u gain init instantly
If so far u failed u can still 5/1/1/1/1/1 or 2/2 and expect a win :p

I just tried to explain why people leave bad server in spvp and why everyone should do the same for glory farming … It seems u missunderstood or failed to read :p

The key idea is that the problem with GW2 pvp is there is no reward (30 glory lol) for winning a map, so u dont care about objectives (1st major failure).. add to that issue that there is no penalty for leaving a map.

Then people are bunny hoping until they find a server where they can farm / have fun … nothing more complicated, just common sense.

So, teams are reset yea but once on a server u stay with same 16 people. When teams are imbalanced, people are gonna leave and u end in a dead server with one team almost full and one team almost empty, so yea eventually newcomers gonna join, but if they’re not stupid they gonna leave right away… why do u want to waste time ? but its ur choice :p

ps: I play both spvp and tourneys, but i prefer spvp : no waiting time, constant map cycling, constant fighting and in the end better glory farming.
Maybe if they remove the 4 mins x 3 waiting time each tourney round then it would be more appealing to me, maybe also if there was real rewards for winning those tourneys

Therefore sPvP is just counter strike, go glass cannon build and go frag them baddies … Like everyone else. so you can gain more “glory”. Feels bad writing “glory” when all it takes is zerging :p

Ok, so you see sPvP is just for glory farming and fun / casual pvp. So with this mindset, you enter a game, its heavily imbalanced cause other team is OP or your team is full noob.
Then what do you do ? Play 15 mins for not much glory points and frustrating 1 or 2 vs 6 fights ? (dont get me wrong it can be fun on pvp point of view, but not with farming glory mindset)
Or, leave that bad server and try your luck for a more balanced one.

To be honest I leave the map also when I join the over dominating team, nothing to kill nothing to farm there either. Just boring when outnumbered/outnumbering, imho.

It would be a lot better with anti-leaver system though, people skills would probably improve faster too if they really had to try to win the maps.

- MOA : very long cast time = easily predictable, dodgeable, blockable, fumbleable, etc etc… It only lasts 10 seconds, I dont think i died often if ever while MOA’d. Add that its 3 mins CD = once in a game, so OP rofl

- Time Warp : 3.5 mins CD, 10 sec haste if people stay inside the aoe … Very powerful but mitigated by very long CD and its only effective in rare stationary fights.

- AoE invis : 90 sec CD for 5 second stealth .. WAOUH !!!

I would trade any of those 3 for something actually useful to my character.

OHhhhhh wait, I would take rogue’s shadow Refuge as Elite skill, even though they have it for free as utility skill : less cooldown, aoe stealthing zone that stays a while huhuhu AND it heals up !!!!

I want a pvp map … no npcs, no mobs, no weapons.
I dont understand why they didnt even make a basic TDM map. Player versus Player, period. Just a landscape, nothing to work on.. so cheap so easy so efficient.

Rift had great setup : different sizes, different styles / objectives. But most importantly there was no “godmode bunkers” classes/builds in Rift so domination / hold the point maps were not the BS it is in GW2.

Empowered Illusions (Domination 10) 15% illusion damage and Phantasmal Strength (Inspiration 25) 15% phantasm damage : Traits do not stack, pick one or the other or both it wont change damage = 15% boost instead of 30%

- Some weapon skills dont benefit from cooldown reduction traits like others do
I tested right now : staff, sword, pistol, scepter, greatsword, focus and torch
1/ Scepter
- Illusionary Counter
After specing into the -20% cooldown in scepter the tooltip gets updated from 12sec to 9.5 but when u use the skill u still get a 12 seconds countdown
2/ Sword
- Illusionary Leap
Same deal, spec’d 20% in sword and tooltip got updated yet the countdown remains the same 12 seconds

I didnt test other non weapon cooldown reduction traits yet but i heard there was problems with illusion trait line too

- Decoy not working great. I think the problem is more general to stealth as I do actually kill stealthers with direct target damage while they are already stealthed. I think the problem is that the target check is made when u press the skill but it should check also when u actually fire the skill. As it is if i press skill A before my opponent goes into stealth mode then it will hit him whenever my skill gets fired at him no matter what.

Please remove god mode from mesmer in spvp

Show me your build. Just now tested 3,2k power, 50% crit dmg. ~50%crit chance with 2x+15% illusion dmg. Max crit for golem was 6k.

I think he makes the mistake of thinking that you need to add the numbers up.

Yeah and actually both failed at not adding all numbers popping… the last number to pop is the total of all damage that occured in a short timeframe.

So when u see ur pistol pet deal 1k/1.5k/2.5 then the total damage for all his attacks is 2.5k it didnt deal 1+1.5+2.5 =5k

If you cleanse and immediately dodge, great ! so u sacrifice utility skill + burn also ur dodge in the same split second to counter 1 badly designed skill of one single class ?

Im saying this shouldnt be like this u shouldnt be perma root until u burn skills or escape skills or kill the vine… every other cc is couple seconds only and just stop after the duration. No other cc is permanent “by flawed design”.

But im just being sarcastic, every class rely on same mechanic, burn ur burst, roll around for 2-4 seconds, then burst again, rinse/repeat.

fraps and report abuse although u can hardly prove it was intentional and not crappy computer lag.

Ive seen people do “mega dodge rolls” in spvp using this lame behavior too… lag ur computer + dodge = end the roll at 1200+ range.

not sure what they can do about it though :/

I stopped playing condition build when i figured i was doing no damage to any non 100% noob player. Maybe in team vs team is more efficient when coordinated but in random spvp or 1v1 its useless. (just my opinion)

Anyway I think that necros are mostly based on alteration damage not condition. And alteration scales well with +power thats what i did on my necro.

Also it seems different classes have different learning curves… playing a necro for a while u were not that noob when rolling a warrior which is probably one if not the most straight forward (easy) class to play /shrug

In Rift game on my server there was long queue times for pvp so we were always rolling small groups of 2-3 people to enter games faster.
You dont imagine how many times my 10 man team was 80% made of my guild small pvp groups stacked together and using voicechat = roflstomped pvp battlegrounds.

Not that fun when u farm pvp ranks (but efficient of course) not fun at all for opposing random team.

If you want play team vs team go tournament. Leave the random matches for random groups.

MOA is 180 seconds cooldown how come u get MOA’d 3x every fight ? No wonder u lose ur match if u dont attack for 3 mins

MOA can be dodged / los’d / interupted / etc etc, has a very long cast time and still u cant do anything ?

1/ aoe blast all clones in 1 cast
2/ /bye the 3 Mesmer
OR maybe the 3 mesmers outplayed your team then its no matter of class but player skill.

Forcing ALL playerbase to remove 1 of their utility slots just to counter 1 unbalanced ability. I dont feel the need and would rather avoid losing 1 slot for blink.

For elem yea if u r dagger spec u can spam like melee but with a staff u cant and have to aoe ur feet.

i play elem or mesmer ie if i have a target i will shooot my target not the vine on my feet.elem could get out of it easier than mesmer of course. but still.

If u are melee and spam attack it will go on the vine when ur target is out of range

If u play ranged u HAVE to disengage from pvp to target manually (not easy) the vine in order to destroy it… Or u have to aoe on ur feet therefore disabling u from pvp until the vine is gone.

So basically if ur not melee u cant 1-spam attack then you are screwed in vine … until u disengage from pvp to target and destroy the vine … in the meantime u are left there no dodge, no escape no nothing until u die or destroy vine = bad design = need adjustment

Yea im aware of stealth mechanics… And thinking of it i actually do also kill stealthers after they stealth, all my spam (I dont have aoe on my regular build just direct target damage) keeps going for them even though i dont see them or dont have them on target anymore. Its probably lag on server side so all damage still go in for a few seconds or tenth of seconds whatever.
Maybe the problem is that the check wether a skill has a target is made when u press the button and not when u actually launch the skill. So even after 1 sec casting time u kill a stealther if you started before he stealthed … where it should have canceled ur skill for no available target
Just assumptions, seen also in other games.
ill test again skills later .. going sleep now :p

Ive read about speedhacking and teleporting being “unprotected” : they can hack client all they want and so far without being caught.. So they say.
Cheating is always rampant in new games, and apparently GW2 devs did quite a couple mistakes regarding coding so hackers can change many parameters …

Im not saying that what happened was exploit/hack and I havent done any WvW yet but keep ur eyes open and screenshots/fraps ready I would say :p

I started to get that invisible bug in spvp last night too… Never before.

At first I thought it was my PC lagging or something unusual but it was not consistent over time sometimes it would bug sometimes it was ok… no one on screen, im rushing their spot and wooooo im in middle of their team that suddently popped out of invis lol.

And no it was not aoe invis skill hehe

You know the problem with gold sellers ?
Its gold buyers, if no one would buy then they wouldnt come ingame to make business.

Ban the sellers they just create a new one, heck its a bot creating the characters probably. But if u ban the buyers then they lose their customers and leave for a more beneficial game.

It depends a lot on your build, but dont expect high damage with greatsword, or any other weapon basically, if you dont go very high power.
I think its more or less the same for any class.
With the right build u dont often switch off GS, only to refresh other phantasm or utility/cc.

If you run condition build I guess ur raw weapon damage is very low but then once u apply conditions it should even out (again depends a lot where u put ur trait points)

- Global inconsistency in cooldowns once u apply cooldown reductions, some cooldowns gets reduced too much and some gets increased lol (I need to redo testings to list skills affected)

Maps are fun, spvp is fun… but will get old very fast.

I know many people didnt like WoW battlegrounds but it was more of class balance issue, as a rogue it was heaven in there :p
Anyway for sure WoW battlegrounds were all completely different : size of team , objectives and related tactics.

I agree if u want points / pvp ranks you gotta play counter strike deathmatch style, I mean yes the scoring system has to be reworked.

Except i dont agree on your boss point..
If 1 or 2 players can solo it maybe its because no one on your team dared to come back defend him.
Cause alone i can wipe a team attacking my boss .. now if that team is made of 5+ players maybe i wont save my boss alone.
But then If all their team is on my boss , my team will probably control the 3 spots therefore nullifying more or less the 100pts for the boss kill.

Also I think no one care about defending boss cause its too long to go all over the map and in the meantime odds are ur boss will be already dead.

You mean you downed ur ennemy, thought u had won but then you lost ur “downed duel” and lost the fight, so that means u were downed too so u didnt win anythng to begin with.
OR
You downed an ennemy but failed to “finish him” then he got rezed by teammate or by killing someone while downed.

You re probably 10x more exprienced than any avg player, therefore what seems easy for you its completely messy for them …
If you played mesmer 100+ games u know they are either tanky and do no dmg or extremely squishy (but yea they have good evades/cc) when they go dps. Hint, hint!!

The fact is (and this apply to ANY class) that once u played a mesmer enough to get to understand how they work then u can beat them really easily (again same goes for other classes).
BUT … If u prefer to cry and complain u kept hitting the clones then keep crying thats how the class was designed if ur dumb then u gonna hit the clones over and over.

So far i played : elementalist, rogue, ranger, mesmer, warrior, guardian, necro .. got decent rogue/mesmer/necro builds and tactics (for the new player I am), but didnt get effective at all with other classes yet lol

But all in all its more that knowing ur ennemy is a very important part of this game.. for sure.

Im new player Im pretty sure i still dont know/fully understand 50% of the game or whatever.

What I mean is we basically all noob and face people with bad build/equip and/or not experienced with the lvl 2 they just brought into spvp “to test it” ==> We cant really talk about game balance.

For example Ive seen couple amazing elem that would demolish a full team (dmg + mobility) so for sure they not weak.

cause when i have a target, lets say that ranger that casted entangle, then i have to “untarget” him or ill keep shooting at him not at the vine, maybe ur melee and do aoe or melee spam but when ur ranged u cant hit the vine until u manually target it (cant even tab it cause its “yellow” = non aggro/non tab-able)

Im kinda sad they tuned down HS .. Maybe it was needed, but i really dont think it was.

Im sad mostly because it shows that whiners got listened (as always) and its not good news for the game.

Like OP said the problem is mass of new players without knowledge facing players that have faster learning curve or did beta test the game = people whine for overpowered skills/classes

People should be less arrogant and accept the fact that some players are better than them, at this time, and it should motivate them to improve.

But nowadays people want everything now and for free because they think they deserve it or whatever crap is in their mind.

So they cry then the game gets nerfed/unbalanced and we wait for the next game. rings a bell , anyone ?

Come on … Downed fights are so much fun really im loving it.

Battle can turn side when people dont finish opponents, the battle is not over if ur team play smart

And when both you and your opponent finish the fight downed its hilarious as to who will kill other one first and get free rez hehehe

Ur stun break probably breaks other things than stun cause its a root not a stun and therefore shouldnt break it. Mybe u have a bugged skill that get you away from it.. lucky you hehe

Yea the system need tweaking .. boring when the list is full of 12/16 servers that when i go “play now” I always get a loosy server for 2v2 game.

For now i always select servers manually to avoid such boredom

Its not wether u die or what … its u get locked out u cant do anything u get rooted and u HAVE to kill the vine and u stop killing the ranger or whoever else. Its not only a cc its a “do something else”

yea so u remove the target on ranger to target the vine while u cant dodge or move and get spam hit by the said archer.
Then after a few seconds if ur not dead you killed the vine and can deal with … nvm u r already dead long ago

It seems that if u go full dps with any class u can oneshoot opponents but then in that kind of spec you’re very very squishy …

Now some players combine extreme damage output AND insane survability (tanking/hp pool/self healing and anti cc), which is still boggling me :/

Note: I said players not classes.
