You might say that it needs a larger… RAIDius.
I’m sorry, I couldn’t help it.
Bug seems to be fixed now. Thanks!
It’s not a ranger shortcoming. It’s a boss mechanic. I know you want to defend your characters, but if you take ranger or necromancer pets into the lane 2 boss, they will either aggro the boss or explode the mines when they step on them. Since the key to beating Warden II is to kite it over its own mines, the pets do get in the way.
That’s not the only failure, though. There are also some people who will stand in front of the boss and try to hack away at it, instead of pulling it back over the mines.
Pets are a problem in EVERY game that has pets. I play a ranger, but I can freely admit that she has shortcomings that are part of her mechanic. If I was bringing my ranger to these events, I would recognize the problem and put the pet on passive when attacking Warden II.
It’s never happened before, though. I’ve always been able to jump from the water without having the screen flicker like that.
This seems to have gotten buried without being seen. Is anyone having this issue besides me?
The only way I can describe this bug is that as soon as I jump out of water, the screen seems to split, I see a close-up of my character’s legs, and then it blinks back and forth between my normal zoomed-out view and extreme close-up. I tried to screenshot it, but it happens too fast.
However, I did take a video that you can view. It shows the problem pretty perfectly.
you all on the first 2 pages are forgetting what the term “Bug” means.
its a design in the software that wasnt intended. thats what a Bug is. they never intended people to use these items for series forms of PvE, but mainly for small PvE stuff and added role play.
A “Bug” is actually an unexpected and unknown problem in the system that was uncoded. The term “Bug” comes from a literal bug – a moth – trapped in a Harvard project back in the 1940s, which caused a glitch in the system.
A “bug” can never be an intentionally-coded object. Now, a bug can arise from MISUSE of intentionally coded objects, but cannot ever be, as the dev implied, the intentionally coded object itself.
It’s a good thing I’m not the one who performed the action enabling us to beat Tequatl.
I think we should argue about my earlier post summore rather than staying on topic, though.
(edited by ChaosKirin.1328)
I’d like to add that I used the ember in RP, and wouldn’t mind getting a mini in exchange for all the powders I currently own.
I’d actually be happy to get an ember mini that does nothing in exchange for giving up all my powders.
I know this doesn’t solve everyone’s problems, but for those of us who RP, it would be a start.
I’d even buy it from the gem store.
I’m not offended by the statement, for the record. I feel the dev was annoyed when he replied, but he did so with enough tact. I do feel as if I’ve been addressed by a customer service representative who has no power to do anything about the change, though, which is why I’m not concerning myself with it.
And if embers were affecting the loot table, then nerf THAT. It’s an exploit. Using embers to do more DPS is just working as intended, as they exist for the sole purpose of doing DPS and are therefore not an exploit in that regard.
Now I can have my pet out for, what, the 5 minutes it’s allowed to exist? Then I have to wait 25 minutes before I do anything RP related?
Uh.
I really don’t see how the existence of these things can be a bug. What I see is that someone noticed that people were using the pets in order to take down one world boss.
Honestly, we found a way around that last night on Teq, and I’m not going to say what it was for fear that THAT will be nerfed, too. We actually beat her in less time than we usually do using embers.
There really is no one here who actively wanted this nerf and thinks it’s fair, save for the people who didn’t use embers (and who technically shouldn’t have a say.) I don’t WvW, so if a nerf comes across WvW, I don’t comment on it. It’s not my place.
However, I do use embers, and I cannot imagine that this was JUST done for server load, especially because of the fact that only a few servers even do Teq, and that’s only at certain times.
This looks real to me, and I know. I’m a graphic designer.
…especially since I ALWAYS have an Ember out.
This is the best indication of why they needed a nerf.
No.
I keep an ember out for RP reasons. I always have plenty of powders in my inventory so I can.
Some people play this game for other reasons than doing the most damage.
This is too specific to be a bug, and I’m irritated about it, especially since I ALWAYS have an Ember out.
I’m not happy about this. There was no reason for the nerf.
I posted about this, too, a few days ago, and just saw your thread. I wish they’d fix it, or else I’ll be selling my bell. It’s no fun to play with the delay.
One think I’m most impressed with regarding Guild Wars 2 is the fact that the developers didn’t feel the need to slap breasts on the females of every race. Unlike WoW (which makes every beast race so dimorphic that the women all look like humans) and SWTOR (which won’t make any beast race at all since apparently no one would play them) Guild Wars 2 seems to understand that people want a variety of characters to play.
To that end, I hope not to see any elf-like races. We already have one – the Sylvari – who are elves with a very beautiful twist. I also don’t want to see any humans with monster parts thrown on (like cat people.)
It would be cool if, since Zhaitan is defeated in the personal story, some Risen were able to develop sentience and became playable. Kind of like the black mages in FFIX, who were constructs without a soul, until something happened to make them self-aware. I don’t think this can happen, but it’s an idea.
The Tengu have a lot of room for customization. As much as it would be fun to see the Kodan as a playable race, they all kind of look exactly the same, and wouldn’t work for a game that prided itself on pretty extensive customization options. Perhaps, with some sort of effect of the elder dragons, the Kodan could develop other fur patterns other than ‘polar bear.’ That would have to play out in lore, though.
I also have a soft spot for Skritt, but, unfortunately, as soon as a skritt leaves its colony, it becomes a whole lot stupider. Group intelligence, woo!
The thing I’m worried about – admittedly selfishly – is that this goes instanced.
In that case, I would have to find a guild that does world bosses regularly, and while I love content like Teq (And will probably love the wurm, too) i don’t have time to devote to a guild who’s going to want me on every time they do a world boss.
I know people don’t like WoW comparisons here, but … I joined a guild on WoW who actually kicked me out for not ‘doing enough’ in terms of raiding. It’d be one thing if I signed up and didn’t show, but to kick me out because I went a week without logging onto my raiding character? That’s just not right.
And that’s what I think will happen if Teq goes instanced. Only the people who want to be in huge guilds who do GW2’s raid content will get to participate.
And I think before they lower the number of people required to do world bosses, they’ll push them to instances, where huge guilds CAN get 80 people on at a specific time to run the content.
Right now, I have no problem with how it’s running. I log on a couple hours ahead of time and watch TV, or read, or write, or draw while I’m waiting for the 5pm spawn. In fact, right no I’m on JQ main waiting for kill time. Yesterday, I beat Teq in overflow (and from what I understand, Blackgate main did not.)
I guess I don’t get it. I feel that if you want to do content that exists, you’d make room in your schedule to do it as it stands. I’ve killed Tequatl every night now for two weeks, and I really am looking forward to taking down the wurm with a team of 100 in open-world play.
That’s just the thing. There’s some serious misunderstandings here about how a Teq fight works.
1. Overflows can down Teq. They do all the time. You don’t have to be on a main server to fight her.
2. You do have to be there early. Log on, then return half an hour before the fight.
3. To quote Charrgirl from the previous page: “Personally I hope it’s easier then Tequatl. I never managed to defeat him. The premise of a large world boss where you have to be in a specific server, specific guild, and specific overflow even to get a remote chance of defeating it kills the purpose of “free for all” content they promised at the launch.”
4. Wanting world bosses to scale to the number of people present is essentially asking them to be easier. If ten people are there, and ten people can take her down, there is almost no coordination necessary at all. There is nothing wrong with content that requires a lot of people.
What I’m getting from this thread is that everyone wants something different.
I suppose that no one is //right.// The fact is, though, that Teq is a hard world boss. If you don’t want a hard boss, go do easier content.
There are people who like doing harder content – Teq is for them. Not you.
If you are a completionist, you’re going to have to start liking harder content.
AGAIN. You do not have to be in a guild to beat Teq. Heck, log on with me tonight on Jade Quarry. 5pm server time. If you want to do the content, be there two hours early. That’s a small price to pay for playing the harder content. JQ also does Teq at 12pm server time, IIRC, and they usually beat her then, ’cuz when I log on around 3 server time, the land in Splintered coast is all sunshine and rainbows.
Blackgate does Teq every time she spawns, too.
For those people who are insistent that they cannot get to Tequatl to take her down, you are just making excuses. Make the effort, and you’ll get a kill on most nights.
I like harder content. So I am looking forward to this new wurm being difficult. It’s not for some people, and I accept that, too. You don’t have to do it if you don’t like to coordinate the harder stuff. There are champions and elites around the map that you can feel free to engage.
Because that’s exactly what you want.
World bosses SHOULD be hard. They’re world bosses. The people who used to walk over the dragons and want that back thoroughly confuse me. You have your easy content elsewhere… Leave some hard content for people who want it.
I’m putting this here since the bell isn’t specific to Wintersday.
I’ve gotten pretty proficient at playing in the bell game between songs during the Activity, and the thing I like about the bell in the game is that you can play one note after another, or even play two notes or more together.
The item, however, doesn’t work the same way. You can only play one note at a time, and there is a lag between notes.
Is there any way you could make the item (both the regular choir bell and the unbreakable one) function the same way they do in the activity?
I find that if you open them really quickly, all at the same time, you’ll occasionally get the same reward twice in a row. I was clicking away and ended up with two Light of Dwayna recipes immediately after each other. I sold one and gave one to a friend.
I keep hoping that’ll happen to me with the ho-ho-tron or unbreakable choir bell.
If they make it a guild-only instance, then I won’t be able to do it. I have no desire to be in a huge guild that forces its members to be on at certain times to do content.
So I like the fact that Teq is open-world, and I like the fact that she’s hard to take down.
At least in an open world encounter, I don’t have to have the same worries I do with instanced content.
“We don’t like that you don’t have ascended weapons, so we’re kicking you out of our dungeon group. Bye!”
“We want to sell your spot. Pay us 10 gold or you can’t kill Tequatl with us. Bye!”
“I understand you were having an off day and you couldn’t log on, but you have to show up every time our guild takes down Tequatl. Bye!”
Yeeeaaaah. I’d much rather take my chances with an open world boss. At least then I’m guaranteed to be able to beat her multiple times.
The weird thing is… I don’t see anything special about the new dyes. Am I missing something? These look like colors that already exist, except they have a different name.
When the Toxic Dyes came out, I was so excited that I bought them until I got one. For some reason, I was sure that ‘cuz the whole theme of the release was ’these krait all glow, cool’ that my dye would glow. I applied it to my armor only to find that it was almost the same as another green I had. Completely unexciting.
Not only are the dye packs all RNG, but the dyes they contain aren’t anything special. I don’t get it.
Overflows are A-OK with me. In fact, since I started doing Teq every night, I’ve been in an overflow 50% of the time, and the overflow usually manages to down the dragon.
The word ‘overflow’ isn’t a bad word. Seriously. It’s just a second instance, and all the people in that instance want to kill Teq just as much as the ones on the main server.
If you are in a full overflow, you shouldn’t have any problems.
FYI: You don’t have to be part of a specific guild to beat Teq. Just log onto the server where you’re going to play.
There’s always waiting involved. Then again, when I raided in WoW, there was waiting involved there, too, because people would usually log on an hour beforehand for preparation and such.
Waiting for Teq is really no different.
Why is it poor writing, though?
And why grind at all? You can actually play the content without getting all the achievements. And even if you want the carrot at the end, it’s so very easy to just acquire a lot of them through doing the dailies.
I get the feeling sometimes that a lot of people think this is poor writing because the main villain is NOT a dragon, and is a female character. I don’t think I’d see half the griping if everyone knew right now whether or not the villain was Primordus.
I seem to be the only one on this forum that knows how a story works. I’m so excited that this game actually has one that lasts, rather than being released all at once and then having nothing for two years.
I LOVE the living story. I pity the poor person who had to change their vision for the living story because of impatience on the part of the players. Releasing a little bit of story every two weeks is an amazing idea, and it seems that people here can’t connect the dots enough to realize that these story pieces aren’t random – they’re all part of a larger whole.
What I’m getting is that not only do most people not understand that the conclusion of the story is forthcoming, but that they want all their story at once, and then they want to repeat it over and over and over for a year until more story comes out. Then they can repeat that over and over.
I am legitimately confused. Why does this have to be all instant gratification? Why can’t we all just relax and let the story come as it does?
No one should be selling spots in a dungeon run. I hope they ban it.
I like it. I’d buy it. But I can’t justify spending 500 gems on it. But I still keep going back to it, trying to figure out why it’s so special that it’s so expensive.
The only sense of ‘stress’ and ‘urgency’ comes from certain players alone. There is no stress or urgency. If you are not playing the content for fun, then don’t do the content. The game doesn’t end if you don’t.
Guild Wars 2 was advertised as an ever-changing world. That is what I was given.
Instead of everyone rushing to level 80 to do the same raid over and over and over, you have new content every two weeks. There is no problem with this.
In before someone says ‘lol arah.’
I still can’t understand why people complain about this.
It’s a living story. The game is constantly changing. You don’t get quest hubs with the same story over and over again like in WoW and SWTOR, et cetera. This is a different game model.
If you want, you can play the current story and get those rewards. If you miss out, there will be OTHER rewards later down the line. It’s not as if you get nothing at all ever if you happen to miss one of the LS updates.
Thankfully, numbers of people participating prove that the people complaining are a vocal minority. (Or, if you are complaining and still doing the events, then you’re just feeding their statistics. If you’re unhappy with Living Story, you should stop doing it entirely.)
I like the temporary content. I have also skipped a couple that I found uninteresting or without a reward that I wanted. I absolutely LOVED the Tequatl stuff. Got the achievement, the wings, and the title. But I’m a little luke warm on Scarlet-centric events. I understand that by not doing them, I’m forfeiting the prizes.
I also know that there will be other prizes to win later on.
Why are so many of you so obsessed with instant gratification?
Yay, thanks, guys!
Got my achievement. The info was much appreciated.
I have one achievement to do to get the title, and I really want it. I know there’s a guild out there that’s still doing Teq somewhere. Are you guys still active? Can I get in on one of your adventures?
I just need the one where I defend all the bastions in one go. (I think that’s the one. I’d have to double check.)
“Sunbringer” is just such a cool title.
If it helps, I’m on Darkhaven, but I’ll guest anywhere.
All I was getting were the flawless snowflakes from the giant presents. But the other snowflakes only drop in small/medium/large presents.
So I used the socks, hats, and sweaters from the giants to buy the other presents. Open those, and I get the other snowflakes. (In small amounts, mind, but from what I’ve seen, they don’t drop from mobs at all.)
IS THAT what’kittenting me on the platform after the exploding presents? Wind!? God that’s irritating. You can’t see it coming. There’s no method to avoid it. You CANNOT dodge-roll ‘cuz you’ll dodge right of the platform. Every single time I get to that platform, I get hit by wind. The only thing I can do is to go to the far right of the platform so I don’t get blown off. But because the wind HURTS you, that doesn’t leave you enough time to get to the end of the puzzle.
It’s the stupidest mechanic since torment.
If I’m exercising my skill in a jumping puzzle, I shouldn’t be penalized because random.
Thanks again, Swift! It was awesome working with you.
Do you get credit for the event if you defend the turrets? ‘cuz I’m all for that if I can still get gold at the end.
But if you can only get credit by wailing on Teq, I’m gonna go wail on Teq.
They’re dragons. I think they ought to be pretty close to impossible to beat.
I welcome the challenge, and I look forward to when they upgrade Shatterer and Claw of Jormag, too.
Also, why are people who like the challenge automatically ‘arenanet apologists’? That makes no sense. ‘I like a challenge, so I must be kissing backside’?
Can we think before we speak, please?
Hello, all. I think I have a bug here.
For the longest time, carrots haven’t been showing in my discovery panel. I thought I didn’t have carrots, so I went out and got some, but they’re still not there.
Now, I have things to discover with carrots. For example, the carrot souffle. Carrot souffle does NOT show up on my production list. Moreover, the pile of walnut crumble topping (which I just made, and is ALSO needed for the carrot souffle) doesn’t show up in my discovery list, either.
Is there something I’m not doing, or somewhere I’m not looking? As it turned out, I had over 100 carrots – I just can’t do anything with them.
As far as I can tell, carrots and the walnut crumble are the only two things not showing up in my production list that SHOULD be there. (I have other things that aren’t on there, but they shouldn’t be, since I’ve discovered all I can with them already.)
Screenshot showing that I don’t already have Carrot Souffle in my production list is attached.
I’m a little miffed at the karma nerf, too. I used to spend a lot of it on the Orrian jewelry boxed just because I liked the randomness… Now I’m hoarding it because I can’t get it anymore in any logical way.
So, uh, not working as intended, I’m guessing. I now don’t want to spend any karma at all, in case something comes out that needs karma to buy. And even then, I wouldn’t want to spend it, because I can’t readily get it again.
Tribulation mode should not consume lives
in Super Adventure Box: Back to School
Posted by: ChaosKirin.1328
So far, I’m having no trouble getting extra lives in the normal mode of the game.
Do the extra lives go with you into Tribulation Mode? If so, I could rack up the lives in normal, then head to tribulation mode.
I’m just trying to look at it from a logical point of view here. There is obviously a way to get through it – you just have to backtrack and acquire lives to do it. Or by continue coins with baubles. (Which… it looks like 25 baubles is 1 bubble bauble is one continue coin IIRC?)
The definition of Pay-to-Win is ‘you have to spend real money, or you absolutely cannot pass this point. Like every Facebook game ever. I don’t think this is the case.
Plus, all the really good stuff you can get without doing Tribulation mode anyway. I guess if you want the achievement, you work for it.
Haven’t gotten mine, either. And I made my character the day the headstart began.
Again, I was using the frogs as an example – AND they shouldn’t show up at all like that.
As I also said in that thread, at the time, I was standing on a map looking at a whole bunch of ‘Raven’ text that was all over my screen.
Whether or not a critter is linked to a heart doesn’t matter. It’s still a critter, and it’s still showing text when it shouldn’t be.
This is a new issue for me – last time I logged on was the 20th, and the ambient creature names weren’t all over my screen at that time. I mean, it is definitely something I can live with, but I’d rather not, you know?
Kinda ruins the feel of something when you’re looking out over a snow-covered field that says ‘rabbit’ all over it. XD
Oh, I was just showing this one as an example. They all appear, though. Just like this. I’m on a map right now where I just see raven raven raven raven raven all over the place.
ETA: And no, they never go away.
I’m not sure if this is a bug or not, but it’s making gameplay very frustrating. I purposely turn all names off because I prefer to see the environment around me – this is so frustrating, that it’s making it hard to keep playing.
Essentially, all ambient creature names are permanently showing up on my screen, and I can’t shut them off. I know the location of every rat, sparkfly, frog, mosquito, and rabbit from the moment I enter a map.
I’ve tried turning GW2 off and restarting.
I’ve tried restarting my computer.
Can’t get rid of the names. See the attached screenshot.
Please help.
This is very annoying.
Is this happening to anyone else?
You can see by the screenshot that the only thing I have checked to show up are player names, and I don’t have ctrl pressed. Is this a new ‘feature’? Because if it is, I’m not really satisfied with it.
