Where do the Asura Live?

I see those floating hammocks everywhere in the Asura areas. They’re usually out of the way and not on the main level of labs. Usually I find them on top of buildings.

I’d type more about Asura sleeping habits (cuz they are my first love), but I’m warily watching a spider crawl around on my ceiling. I KNOW it’s waiting until I’m not paying attention…

Cash Farming Bots already?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ChaosKirin.1328

ChaosKirin.1328

I haven’t seen any bots myself yet, but I can’t fathom how the presence of bots is actually being denied.

To those who think that minding your own business is the thing to do, and that bots don’t affect you if you don’t bother with them, you are unfortunately incorrect. Any player on a server with bots is affected somehow, either through the bot pouring money into the economy that has no business being there or gaining an unfair advantage over others with acquisition of crafting materials, et cetera. Because this is an MMO, anything any player does has an effect on the other players.

In fact, botters have ALREADY had an effect on every single player on the game. If you enjoy farming, you can’t do that anymore, because after a certain number of kills, your drops fall to almost nothing.

The very fact that ANet felt the need to take that drastic of a step PROVES that there are too many botters.

You don’t have to believe the game is perfect to like it. I very much enjoy Guild Wars 2, and yet I find certain things to be extremely annoying. There are many things that need to be fixed with the game, and botting is one of them.

Bosses will not be down easier without bleed caps.

Someone made a really good post the other day about this, but I can’t find it now. Anyway, you have to keep in mind that bleed ticks do less damage than raw warrior damage. Essentially, if a warrior does 1000 damage per second with just his auto attack, and a condition engineer ticks at 500 damage per second with his bleeds, then his ability to stack his bleeds is the only thing that brings him up to the warrior’s raw damage.

Condition builds do not do high initial damage. Without the ability to continue placing bleeds, they lag far behind other classes. Currently, the bosses are taking far too long to go down, because some of the people attacking it are not able to do a proper amount of damage to it.

Hidden Fee's on the Trading Post!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

ChaosKirin.1328

This is pretty standard on every MMO. There’s a listing fee, then an auction house cut as a moneysink.

ANet should list the amount they’re taking out, though. And also probably fix the Trading Company, because right now, buyers can request items for less than sellers can list them for.

Etiquette Question: rez the defeated or fight the ongoing fight?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: ChaosKirin.1328

ChaosKirin.1328

There are some situations where I’d put rez as a priority. I try to keep people up in some dungeons while they’re still downed and not dead, for example.

But I just got yelled at today for not stopping to rez someone while fighting the fire elemental in Metrica Province. It was as if the guy didn’t understand that stopping for even one second would allow the fire elemental to one-shot me. So I stated in /map for the benefit of all that if the elemental killed you, release and run back, because there was no time to stop.

I think you did the right thing.

Some people don’t think.

What I was doing was hiding the UI, pressing print screen, and pasting the screen caps directly into Photoshop. Which was working fine. Notably, Trillian and Photoshop were open when I was doing this before (and it worked) and now the same programs are open in the background and now it’s screencapping my desktop.

To my knowledge, I have not re-named any of the screencaps in the folder, because as I said before, I was pasting into Photoshop as I took the caps.

I’m also playing in fullscreen.

Thanks for the help so far. Unfortunately, it’s not working yet.

I was taking lots of screen shots not too long ago, so I know that at one point, I was doing this right. But all of a sudden, when I take a screen shot, it caps my desktop instead of the game window.

Is anyone else having this problem? Is it a bug, or am I doing something wrong?

Change the 25 bleed stack limit

in Suggestions

Posted by: ChaosKirin.1328

ChaosKirin.1328

This makes sense to me. But to make it very simple…

Warrior hits boss with all his attacks in, say, 2 seconds. Warrior does 1000 damage in 2 seconds.

Necro uses bleeds instead of brute attack force. Each bleed pulses at 200 damage/second. Necro is able to stack 5 bleeds in 2 seconds.

Necro and warrior do the same damage.

How it currently works is that the warrior can do as much damage as he wants, but after bleeds cap, the Necro can do hardly any more damage at all, even if the damage-causing is almost equal between direct attacks and bleeds.

In short, there should be a higher cap on bleed stacks. Much higher.

Nah.

Seriously, I had a good number of cool mounts in World of Warcraft, and I still never understood why people had to hang out in cities, just sitting on their mounts to show them off. It screamed “Hey, check out the size of my e-manhood,” and it got annoying.

If mounts were small (so they couldn’t sit atop NPCs and the like) and also very easy to obtain (To prevent the previously-mentioned showing off) then I could see mounts being an acceptable addition to the game.

Re: Guesting.

You can only guest to servers where you have friends. So… No. It’s not quite the same. I don’t know if you’re aware of that little stipulation on guesting.

None of you get to decide what is or is not an exploit. No matter how certain you may be.

The official word is that if it seems like an exploit and you’re abusing something that wasn’t meant to be abused, it’s an exploit and you can be banned for doing it. Why are you taking the chance that you’re going to be banned?

If it’s because you don’t WANT it to be an exploit, that’s all find and dandy. But until you hear word that it’s not, why do it and risk losing your account?

“Don’t rush level 80”
Your logic is broken because it will take me a week, a month or half a year but I’ll get to level 80 someday and then what you gonna tell me? That I rushed things? What’s gonna be so different?

Because in a month or a year, there is a higher possibility of there being new content.

All MMOs release some of their material in stages. For example, the Cata expansion in WoW didn’t release everything all at once. Over time, I believe the raid where you defeat Deathwing was release, for example.

So let’s look at Guild Wars 2, which is designed around the idea that it will take the average player some time to get to level 80. Rightfully not catering to the people who reached level 80 in one week, ANet is very likely holding content back to release in the next few months so that the people who are playing the game at a reasonable pace don’t get bored. In fact, they’ve already stated that there will be updates on what is coming very shortly.

If I were a gaming company, I would do best to cater to those who play the game at a reasonable pace, not to those who play through it as quickly as possible.

ETA: …because if ANet had released everything they have ready on the first day, level 80s still would have already completed it and would be crying for more.

Everyone knew that people were going to rush to 80. Everyone knew there was going to be people competing for etc etc etc

Does this game even keep track of world firsts?

I don’t think it does.

Why rush to 80? No one has ever really given me a valid reason for this, and I really am curious. With nothing to do after hitting level 80, why don’t people just slow down and enjoy the game?

And as I’ve said before, if your enjoyment of the game is solely around rushing to level 80, then just keep making new characters to rush to level 80. If you consider my previous statement to be ‘missing the point,’ then that means you really don’t enjoy rushing to 80 and are only doing it to get this so-called ‘world first.’

When I get to 80, I’m SO claiming I got there first, just because I don’t think there’s any way to check that.

transfer mining "exploiters"

ChaosKirin.1328

While I can only speak for myself here…

Despite what I interpreted from ANet employees, my first reaction on discovering how to make more money quicker than the average user would be to say ‘Okay, this is an exploit,’ and not do it.

I think jumping servers to mine massive amounts of ore is the very definition of an exploit, and I’m sure your first answer didn’t take into account how efficient and exploitive it would be.

If something seems like it’s an exploit, don’t do it.

ETA: Also keep in mind that you are bringing resources back from another server that were never meant to be on your home server, thus messing with an economy that is already not so great. If you continue exploiting, the value of the ore on your own server will go down (More supply) and up on other servers (less supply.) So in the long run, you’re really only hurting your own economy. Again, this is almost certainly an exploit, and not something that was intended in the game design.

I do hope you aren’t banned for it, since the first answer you got was unclear. But you should probably stop doing it immediately.

Yeah, I’ve had this happen, too. It’s annoying, but there are a few differences in GW2 that aren’t in most other MMOs.

1. There’s no sound to let you know you’re being aggro’d on.

2. If you run away from mobs, they will eventually leave you alone.

This happens to me a lot. I’ll be running along and stop to mine or cut down a tree and all of a sudden there’s a mob attacking me. If someone trains mobs on me and there are more than I can handle, if I start running, I can escape. This is quite an enjoyable mechanic, I gotta say. Because sometimes I don’t feel like dying. :|

What do you do since you turned 80?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ChaosKirin.1328

ChaosKirin.1328

I’m really trying to understand this. I’m not trying to be condescending or anything, but seriously, if you’ve already gotten to the end of the game (AKA ‘beaten the game’) why are you looking for content after the end of the game?

If you’re not interested in making alts, that seems to indicate that you’re not the least interested in the story, and that your primary goal was to get to level 80 as quickly as possible.

Bearing that in mind, why are you surprised that there’s no more to do in a game that isn’t even a month old yet?

This is the same mentality that caused SWTOR to go F2P.

I really think you are overreacting, and I’m also one of those people that thinks rushing to 80 is a ridiculous thing to do. (My main is level 36. I’m enjoying the game slowly.) I love cooking, and while this is a small hindrance, it is in no way as enjoyment-breaking as you’re making it out to be. Cave Maps/Underground Maps

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: ChaosKirin.1328

ChaosKirin.1328

I am having problems with cave and underground maps. If I’ve explored the area, I believe I should be able to see it, just like I can see the rest of the map.

I understand that covering up parts that you’re not directly in adds to the ‘mystique’ of being in a cave, but I find it more of a hindrance than an immersion technique, especially when exploring caves with winding pathways and different goals like the Skritt kingdom in Mrot Baru.

I would love it if you could consider making cave maps fully visible like the rest of the map. I feel that the only reason it is done is so that players know that there’s a ‘roof’ on the cave? Maybe make it so that if someone hits the lower tier of the map, the roof disappears and I can see the whole cave?

Thanks for your consideration.
